Encoder displacement VI Help

Howdy Everyone,
I am currently working on a project that requires me to get the displacement of an incremental encoder with 2 channels A and B. I already have the counts for A but I still did not find any VI that calculates displacement. I am currently using a Wireless Data Aquistion System "WLS-9163" with NI-9215 module.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for replying. I am currently using the following code to measure A channel counts. I already tried and it is working properly for counting up and down.

  • Burning a DVD - keep getting encoding errors message, help?

I have a video that I made out of videos, photos, and music that is less than an hour in length.  I selected highest quality b/c it was less than the available 4.7 GB of available space.  It took over a day to burn and at the very end it gave me a message saying that it was having encoding errors.  Help!  I am trying to burn it again at reduced quality, but prefer to have it at highest quality.
    Thanks,

Let us get the details into perspective and then we will advance from there.
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
What are the properties of the video that went on that Timeline....video compression, audio compression, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio....photos - how many and what pixel dimensions??
Based on the properties of your source media, what did you or the project select as the project preset?
When you go to the burn dialog for your burn to DVD, what did the quality area of the burn dialog show for Space Required and Bitrate (with a check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space"? The only time I would work without the check mark there is if I was getting Data Rate Error message and I had to set the Bitrate manually to move forward.
What is the exact wording of the message(s) that you are getting once you hit Burn in the burn dialog?
Let us start here and then we can decide what next.
If you need clarification on anything written, please do not hesitate to ask for that clarification.
    Thank you.

  • GoLive CS2 doesn't seem to encode special characters - help!

If you've recently upgraded to CS2 and are having trouble with HTML entities for special characters, see this FAQ topic:
FAQ 11.11 - Special Character Encoding Problems (CS2)
Looks like this is going to be a recurring topic for a while as people migrate to CS2, so I'm making this a "sticky" topic at the top of the forum (thanks Martin).

Thank you all for your posts on this issue. I need to point out a few things.
    1. As a novice, I had assumed that "special characters" included all non-standard characters (those not included in the Basic Latin character set and the Latin-1 Supplement set), and that therefore, all the "other" Unicode characters were special characters. As a result, I had assumed that the original post about Special Characters did indeed have a connection to Unicode input methods. (In fact, I am utterly in the dark as to why it is that it does not. But being a novice I believe you when you say that "special characters" and Unicode characters are two unrelated things, although I have no idea what the difference is. But, for letting me know that there is a difference, for that I truly thank you.
    2. I have read and re-read my comments from earlier and fail to see any "flaming" in it of Nate. Yet the rest of you see it clearly, so it must be there. It must be very disappointing for you to try so hard to help others only to be confronted with someone of ill-manners blasting you for your best efforts. I am truly sorry that I have in my ignorance and in my own frustration caused you to feel this way. Furthermore, since his statements had nothing to do with the issue that is so vexing to me (as you have now shown me), it was completely inappropriate for me to be upset with his answers.
    3. I remain very frustrated with not being able to find an answer to this problem of Unicode entry. I share Dee Bolland's aggravation when he talked about "... patronising people saying 'Didn't you know that?' blah blah." and when he said, " Please don't say 'It works for me!' :< ." When I first read Nate's statement of what to do about special characters, my spirits were excited with hope that it would solve my Unicode issues (because I thought he was talking about that). I was hopeful that I had missed something simple. When I tried it and it didn't work for my problem, I was very disappointed. This is the same frustration that I had when I read Rob Keniger's statement to me that the program can accept input in Source view. I jumped at this with hopeful anticipation, only to be totally and utterly disappointed once again--because it doesn't work for me. I pasted the Unicode text that I had posted above ( ×ֲש×ֶר ×Ö¹× ×Ö¸×Ö·×Ö° ×ַּעֲצַת רְש×ָעִ×× ) into source view, and all I got was the following: "
" (I've included the tags so you can see the space). In other words, once again my high hopes are dashed and I am left feeling stupid (you say it works for you) and angry such a great program that does so many fantastic things can't do the basic things I want it to do. So, yes, I remain infuriated by the situation, by my inability to get the program to do what (I thought) you all had said it can so easily do. And yet (as I stated earlier in my post to Nate at which he took offense): "I do hope I am missing something simple and that the error is totally mine. However, I have yet to see any directions or examples that will solve the problem. Please, if you know of how to make this work, let me know. I will gladly confess my error in doubting you, if you can show me I am wrong by doing it right."
So, since my post was not germane to the discussion, I will now bow out of this one. Thank you so much for your efforts to help, though.

  • Blu-ray Encoding and Authoring Help!!!

I have been trying to burn Blu-ray discs for a couple weeks now but have no satisfactory results. I have been shooting in 1280x720p 29.97 in m2t format editing in premiere pro CS3 and exporting to mpeg 2 for Blu-Ray for authoring in Encore CS3. Im using a Matrox Axio LE with Windows XP
The problem is that all the mpeg 2, Blu-ray video and audio files, that I have encoded from premiere have been different lengths when I bring them into encore. This occurred even when I have tried encoding them separately. Now I have been able to burn a couple Blu-ray discs but the audio starts in sync and slowly drifts out getting worse and worse as the video progresses.
I was able to get one that looked good and seemed to be synced throughout the video. It was encoded at 23.94. But the audio was still many frames shorter than the audio
Since we are shooting in 29.976 we are thinking about starting to shoot in 59.94 because that frame rate is a native resolution for Blu-ray at 720P. But I shot some footage today in 59.94 and exported it to mpeg 2 for Blu-ray and got the same issue all over again and I have no idea why. (I tried using both the Matrox encoder and the adobe encoder as well)
I brought it into a 1280 by 720p 59.94 project and the video and audio were synced on the timeline
Exported it at 1280x720p at 59.94 quality 5, widescreen, progressive 25mbps
Exported the audio separately at 48kHz 16 bit stereo PCM
Imported it into Encore CS3 using Blu-ray setting, NTSC, 1280x720, mpeg 2, audio PCM. Nothing needed to be transcoded and all files were compliant. What am I doing wrong? I cant have video thats out of sync and whats worse is that I have a shoot this week and dont know what frame rate to shoot in. Can anyone help? Does anyone use Encore to burn Blu-rays?

There is a separate sub-forum for Bluray... you might read there to see if any of the other messages will help

  • Encoding question please help

    hello
i have a 115 minute long project. it was 6.2 GB so i switched it over to best quality and no longer kept it in best performance.
its been an hour but nothing has encoded! there all blank bars. i read in the help section of idvd this:
"Note: +Background encoding is only available when you choose Best Performance as your encoder setting in the Projects pane of iDVD preferences+."
i also went up to advance at the top option menu thing and saw how backround encoding is faded out.
how can i encode these files? should i close the idvd application? i dont know what to do if they wont encode in the backround. please help! im on a really tight time limit! and need 50 dvds burned by tues!
    thankyou!

If you are going to burn 50 copies you should do that from a disk image. When you save the project as a disk image it will start rendering (encoding).
As a rough guide, rendering will take about 3x the project length, the actual burning about 50% or less of the project length.
Let your Mac have a rest for 15 minutes after burning 3 copies. Your superdrive will thank you!

  • Flash CS3 Video Encoder CuePoint XML help

I have a properly formed CuePoint XML file I generate from an
AppleScript that takes QT Chapter Marks and writes a CuePoint XML
for them. However, the File Type and Creator Type of the generated
file is TEXT and ttxt respectively. Flash Video encoder just
ignores these files and will not even let me select them to import
CuePoints. Checking sample CuePoint files created by the Encoder
reveals that they have no Type or Creator set. In fact they show
the attribute for these to be missing. The Encoder app refuses to
open any file with a Type applied. This is beyond frustrating and
just down right silly from a development stand point. Why on earth
should it limit based on type in this day and age. Since there is
no sane way of stripping the File Type attribute there seems to be
no viable way of opening a sane, well formed Cue Point XML file
    created elsewhere on a Mac.
Does anyone have a suggestion, or can you point me to where
to file a really lame bug report with Adobe.

    Thanks for your help!
It works perfect with so many formats, the only problem is
that I can not add ".wmv" files. Is there any way to do it?
    Thanks again!

  • Encoding - I need help, BADLY!

    Hi all,
I am hoping that someone can help me with my issue.
I am trying to make a presentation using iShowU. I use
settings that seem to be appropriate, and the files look smooth
    enough in Quicktime.
But, when I try to encode them as .fla's (which I need) the
quality is unbelievably bad. The text looks like someone poured
water over it and smudged it. It does not matter whether I use
Sorenson Squeeze or Flash CS3 to do the encoding, even if I select
the highest available presets - still it is all blurry and awful.
This is driving me crazy! Can anyone tell me where I am going
wrong, and why it breaks down so badly from quicktime to fla.
Also, I am using a Blue Snowflake mike, and I notice that the
final sound output is lower than other stuff I see online, even
when everything is cranked up full. I am doing this on a 3 day old
    iMac.
Setting for the screen capture and the encoding would be so
    much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Hugh

Ok, here are a few things I might try in no specific order.
    1. Re-install Printer, then repair permissions.
    2. Make sure the printer and page size is available in Quark page set-up
    3. Try printing a simple grey box from quark.
    4. Scan for corrupt/conflicting fonts that may have been installed with printer.
    5. Try printing simple pages from other applications.
    - if you can narrow it down to a quark issue, then maybe the quark website has answers. Try making a pdf of a file that WON'T print direct from quark and see if the pdf prints properly.
Is the printer available through 'Appletalk' as a local printer in the Printer Set-Up Utility?
Other than this, I might ask if you downloaded the patch for Quark 6 concerning corrupt fonts? If no it's called 'fontalertsilencer.xnt and has helped me solve a few problems.
Lastly, the only time I've had similar problems is when I have conflicting printer features turned on in the Quark 'printer options' when I'm in the printing process.
let me know if any of this helps.

  • Encoding for BluRay Help Please

    Hello,
I'm encoding BluRay for the first time using Media Encoder CS4.
First, some details about my footage.
Shot with a Panasonic HVX-170 set at: 1080i/24PA.
    The footage properties are: 1280 x 1080, Pixel Depth 32, Frame Rate 29.97 (24P),
Audio 16/48K, Average Data Rate: 1.2 Mb, Pixel Aspect Ratio is 1.5
There are a number of settings to choose from. Some obviously aren't correct but I'm not sure
    about the others. I don't see one for 1280 x 1080.
So out of all these settings, which is the one I need to Encode my footage for the best results?
    1440x1080i 25 High Quality
    1440x1080i 29.97 High Quality
    1440x1080p  23.976 High Quality
    1440x1080p  24 High Quality
    HDTV 1080i 25 High Quality
    HDTV 1080i 29.97 High Quality
    HDTV 1080p 23.976 High Quality
HDTV 1080p High Quality SurCode For Dolby Digital 5.1
    HDTV 1080p 24 High Quality
    HDTV 720p 23.976 High Quality
    HDTV 720p 24 High Quality
    HDTV 720p 50 High Quality
    HDTV 720p 59.94 High Quality
    NTSC DV High Quality
    NTSC DV Widescreen High Quality
Also, can anyone explain what H.264 BluRay is used for?
    Thanks very much in advance.
    Mark Dalzell

    Jim,
First off, thanks for taking time to help out. I'm encoding now.
I have a question if you wouldn't mind. I'm a little confused. Well OK, a lot...
Is there any specific reason as to why I wouldn't use the setting(s) either
HDTV 1080i 29.97 High Quality or HDTV 1080p 24 High Quality?
The reason I ask is because it was shot at 1080i/24PA and
    the frame rate is 29.97.
Again, my thanks to you for helping me out.
    Best.
    Mark

  • Incremental Encoder Velocity VI Help

    Howdy Everyone,
I am currently working on a project that requires me to get the velocity of an incremental encoder with 2 channels A and B. I already have the counts for A and position but I still did not find any VI that calculates velocity. I am currently using a Wireless Data Aquistion System "WLS-9163" with NI-9215 module.
Any help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Mechanical Engineer

    Velocity is:
Actual Sample - Previous Sample / Sampling Rate.
1.Create Channel: CI - Position Linear Encoder
    2. The sample rate can be set using the Sample Clock Vi. One of the inputs is Rate.
3.Use Counter 1DBL 1Chan N Samples in order to set the number of samples read.
This way you'll get an array with "position values" sampled using the specified rate (at 2.). So you have to compute:
    pos[i] - pos[i+1] / rate  =>> velocity
    Paul
PS: Sorry for VIs in German but I think it's easy to find them also in English, in DAQmx

  • Media encoder STOPS ENCODING!! help!

I am encoding my premier pro project in Media encoder, but it stops encoding every time. It happends on different locations, its not in the same spot every time. I had sooo much problem with permiere cc.
Any one knows a solution to this???
    I am exporting H.264 HD 1080p 25
I really need to get my project done

Peferling... I have a positive update! I went to the area that typically made things die. I noticed it was at the tail end of where I inserted a sequence into another sequence. I also noticed I had three tracks in that section with graphics. So I copied all the tracks from the inserted sequence... then removed the inserted sequence and re-inserted the actual tracks. At this point I no longer had an inserted sequence. I then simplified the three tracks of graphics into one. Re-applied my transitions and did last tweaking. I once again tried exporting as H.264 HD... et voila! It worked! Something must have been breaking it.
For now I'm okay and have been able to export into other formats. I want to thank you so much for your input. Regards, Nelson

  • Adobe Media Encoder Fail - need help please

I keep getting a failed error when trying to use Adobe Media Encoder.
I open up my premiere project and select the comp I want.  I switch the format to Quicktime, select h.264 from preset.  Hit the start button and I get the failed sound/icon.
    2 questions:
    1. My comp is 1920x1080 but when I go in it automatically has it as 720... why is it not recognizing the comp size?
    2. Is there a way to fix this error?  It seems to export occassionally to my C drive (which is not raid) but it fails to my F drive (Raid 10).  But usually if I export as a wmv or something smaller it exports fine to F.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you I had to go out of town.  Error message doesn't say anything to me... maybe to you.  I'm not really sure what to set for "Field Type" so I just leave it at Lower.  Not sure if I should set it to higher or progressive instead.
