  • Safari 5.1 -- 'Open at Login' not opening a browser window?

I have Safari set to open at login (right-click Safari in the Dock > Options > Open at Login). When I reach my desktop, the Safari icon in the Dock bounces and the spotlight lights up as expected, but Safari does not open a browser window -- I have to click the Safari icon or click File > New Window to see a window.
I've used Open at Login with Firefox and Mail and have never experienced this issue; the application window always opens. I've also tried disabling Safari's extensions and resetting Safari's settings (Safari > Reset Safari) with no luck.
I know I can probably trick Safari by adding a shortcut to my homepage to the Dock and have that open at login, but I would like to resolve this if I can. Any ideas?

I found this discussion about three or four months ago. I was having the same problem with Safari not opening, along with my other login items.
The tip posted by Linc on Oct 3, 2011 9:22 AM, resolved the issue.
    Thanks Linc!
HOWEVER... Today, all of the sudden... Out of out of the blue... I have the same problem, again!?
I tried removing, then re-adding, the URL file from the log in items, automatic open list.
    It did not work?
Does anybody have any ideas/solutions regarding this issue? This is becoming VERY aggravating!

  • PDF File not opening in browser for sharepoint 2010

Recently we have moved our web application from one server to another in Sharepoint 2010. Back up of entire web application was taken and restored in another server. But in the new server , the PDF files in the document library is not getting opened in browser.
    it always open in browser
I have already made following changes but didn,t work
Set browser file handling to Permissive from central admin
Set "open in browser" in setting s of doc library
Set the doc library file handling property using $docLib = $web.lists["Your Document Library Title"] $docLib.BrowserFileHandling = "Permissive" $docLib.Update()
    Added "AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeType.Add("Application/Pdf") in web app
Installed Adober eader in client machine
Even after trying all these, the PDF files are still opening in Client application(Adobe reader) but not in the browser
It would have been great help if anybody provide a solution for this. I have been banging head on this for two days

It would be handy if you didn't double post too.

To answer your question, you've tried most things that I normally see working, but there may be an extra solution here for you.  The solution 2 Powershell that deals with updating the Inline MimeType may help.

I have a good signal to the router and iPad works well. The PC will not open any browser (Firefox, explorer internet), and Thunderbird opens but will not connect and times out.
So I cannot reinstall Firefox or Thunderbird. I can get messages on my iPad but not the PC.
I have scanned the PC and have no virus or malware.
Any ideas of what to do next please?

You weren't very clear about what you are trying to do, but there is no Firefox for iOS devices - iPad and the iPhone.

Blank error message with ? appears and PDF does not open in Browser (IE11) when clicking link to open pdf. PC - IE11 Acrobat 9.0
Cannot access in browser PDF files unless blank box is closed and then website address is clicked on again in browser address bar and page reloaded.
Uninstalled Acrobat 9, reinstalled, still same problem.
    Help please!

Yes I can it only happens in the browser..
I reinstalled Windows on my machine and started over a couple of weeks ago.
When my desktop started up I didn’t have Acrobat installed and clicked on a pdf file and the open with xxx dialogue box came open.
I chose a different program as Acrobat wasn’t installed yet so it associated pdf files with another program.
Later Installed Acrobat and couldn’t associate the pdf file with acrobat so I went into Folder Options and manually associated PDF files with Acrobat.
Ever since then I get the error when something is downloaded and opened in the browser.
Works fine everywhere else and when I cancel the blank error, highlight the web address and press enter to reload it works 90% of the time.
    Not sure what to do..

  • "Go to URL" not opening in a new browser window

We are using FrameMaker 10 and RoboHelp 9 in a Windows 7 environment.
When we create hypertext links, we use the "Go to URL" command.  According to the FrameMaker 10 online help, this is what the command is supposed to do: "Launches browser and displays the specified Web page."
Then we publish the content to RoboHelp's WebHelp.
When we see the hypertext link in the WebHelp/HTML output, it looks like this: http://www.adobe.com
When we click it, the Web page appears inside the content frame of the WebHelp.  It does not open a new browser window.
We can manually go into the html file and look at the hypertext link.  It looks like this in the WebHelp output:
    <span class="FM_Link"><a href="http://www.adobe.com">www.adobe.com</span>
In order to manually change the link so that it opens the Web page in a new browser window, we can edit the link as follows:
    <span class="FM_Link"><a href="http://www.adobe.com" target="_blank">www.adobe.com</span>
After we manually edit the HTML file, save it, launch the WebHelp, and click the hypertext link...it now opens the Web page in a new browser window.
Is there a way to create the hypertext link in FrameMaker so that the WebHelp output will open the Web page in a new browser window?
    Thank you in advance!
    Tim

Please see the previous posts in this thread to review how you create hyperlinks in FrameMaker that open the Web page in a new browser window.
The problem is this: If you publish the exact same file to PDF, the hyperlinks will not work.
The properties (syntax) of the hyperlinks in PDF output need to look like this: http://www.adobe.com
The hyperlink syntax in WebHelp (in FrameMaker) needs to look like this: http://www.adobe.com" target="_blank
(...so when they are published to Webhelp, they look like this: "http://www.adobe.com" target="_blank")
Other than going into either the HTML or the PDF output and manually changing each hyperlink URL syntax for the specific output, is there a syntax that opens a new browser window in both PDF and HTML with one single "Go to URL" command?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Tim

  • Run/debug not opening in browser

so run (and debug) on JSP, HTML is supposed to open the page in the browser. This has never worked for me. I can manually open a browser and type in the URL and it works but this is getting old.
I have tried it with/without specifying the browser command in the preferences and I have tried it a fresh install where I only create one JSP and the run it. Everything seems to start up ok, but it doesn't open up the page in the browser (IE).
There is 0 errors, 0 warnings, when running.
What's going on? How to I fix?
Using JDeveloper 9.0.2.0.0 (although same issue with R1) on Win2K.

You are correct the JDeveloper does not detect changes to the proxies. The first time that JDeveloper runs (on Windows only), it gets the proxy host and port from the OS and uses this to set the JDeveloper proxy. Once that is set, JDeveloper will always use that; changes made to IE will not be detected. Perhaps this can be modified to allow the user to request that JDeveloper always use the OS proxies and not cache the settings. The only problem with this is that JDeveloper can only get the proxy information from IE on Windows; this isn't supported on other platforms or with Netscape on Windows.
The other issue, an exception list, isn't exposed in 9.0.2. We have added support for this to 9.0.3 (our next release, currently in development). However, it should be possible to get the exception list to work, albeit with some manual steps. To use an exception list, you must be running Oracle9i JDeveloper on a 1.3.1 or later version of the J2SE (on Windows, we include a 1.3.1_02 J2SE by default). Proxies in Java are controlled with System properties; JDeveloper makes use of these properties through its Proxy Settings options.
For the proxy host, the property is http.proxyHost; for the proxy port, it is http.proxyPort. These properties are automatically handled by JDeveloper. For the exceptions list, the property is http.nonProxyHosts (Sun did not document this property until 1.4, but it was actually added in 1.3.1). This is a list of hosts, with wildcards, that the proxy should not be used with. The list is delimited with the '|' character.
To use http.nonProxyHosts, add a line in the jdev.conf setting the property. The line would look like:
    AddVMOption -Dhttp.nonProxyHosts=*.mycompany.com|*.anotherdomain.net
Alternately, this can be specified on the command line as
    jdev.exe -J-DDhttp.nonProxyHosts=*.mycompany.com|*.anotherdomain.net
In either case, the excludes list should be then set for JDeveloper. Note that this does not automatically pass on the exclude list to things invoked from JDeveloper. To do that, you will need to add the property definition to the run settings for the project. In the Project Settings, on the Runner page, add
    -Dhttp.nonProxyHosts=*.mycompany.com|*.anotherdomain.net
to the VM Options line. Again, this will only work with a 1.3.1 or later version of the J2SE.
In 9.0.3, the excludes list will be automatically determined along with the host and port, and it will be passed along with the others to programs run from JDeveloper.

  • Safari will not open a browsing window

    I have a G4 tower running 10.3 and Safari 1.3.2
Each time I open Safari, it loads fine, but I get no browsing window. The menus work, I can quit, organize bookmarks and so on. But, I cannot get a window, File > New window, or Apple N, neither will give me a browser window. So, it is completely useless.
    - I have done a clean archive and install of the 10.3 OS
    - I have made a new user, same problem
    - I have installed a few newer versions of Safari, these will not launch, they bounce in the dock, but do not open
    - I have installed Firefox, and it works fine
So, this problem is worked around, but not solved.
I am a little confused, a clean install of the OS should give me a new copy of Safari, as well as all the support networking files. A new user, should eliminate all the preferences issues.
So, what other troubleshooting can I do to solve this?
    TIA
    mark

I ASSUME that when I do an Archive and Install, I automatically get fresh copies of the various basic Apple programs like Mail and Safari?
You do, but unless you use Software Update after that to bring your system current, you won't have Safari 1.3.2.
    Perhaps you should try this:
    1. Quit Safari if it's running.
    2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Safari and delete all the sub-folders within that one.
    3. Go to Home/Library/Safari and:
*Delete any of these files you have there:*
    • Downloads.plist
    • History.plist
    • LastSession.plist
    *Remove this file:*
    • Bookmarks.plist
    4. Restart Safari and see if the problem is fixed.

I login into Portal as well as R/3 through SAP logon Pad (SAP GUI).
Now if I access  Transaction Iview through portal , this transaction Iview is opened in R/3 side window not in portal browser window .And also same time we can see only new blank portal window iopen n portal side.
My question is that whichever transaction iView we access through portal we want  to see that transaction iView in portal browser window like in first senario  not in R/3 window.

  • Media encoder does not open

    Issue:
When trying to export Media a note comes up saying I have not the latest AME. Trying to update it shows though I have all the latest updates.
Clicking OK lets me then select export workarea and do the settings needed for the export.
Clicking "Queue" makes PP work a little, but it does NOT open the AME!
If I open it manually, I can see files that I send (but not the ones sent when AME did not open..) but starting to encode them results in an error:
    "Could not read from source"
    - Sourcefile:C:\Users\Logic\AppData\Local\Temp\teckenkurs2010_repetition_1_CS5_2.prproj
    - Targetfile: F:\Projektfilmer_original\dussin\public_html\TFK1.flv
    Could not read from source.
(For some reason the AME is in Swedish...)
    What can be wrong here?
    Regards,
    Håkan

Reinstalled PP and now it works

  • PDFs will not open in Browser with Adobe Reader 9

I am using Vista Ultimate x64 (SP1) using IE7. I am using the 32-bit version of the browser. I have selected "Display PDF in browser" on the Internet settings tab of the Adobe Reader 9.
Every time I select a PDF document, it forces me to save the document to the hard drive and open it from the hard drive. It will not open the PDF in the browser. How do I fix this problem??
The above procedure did work in Windows XP (32-bit), but does not appear to work in Vista (64-bit).

I have a similar problem using Adobe Reader 9 with Vista 64. I am also using the 32 bit version of IE7. Every time I click on a pdf to open in IE7 the screen remains white without starting Adobe Reader 9 in IE7 browser window.
Using Adobe Reader independantly works without any problem. Only the IE7 plugin does not seem to work. I reinstalled Adobe Reader 9 but without any effect. Adobe Reader 8 works. How comes?

  • Word document does not open in browser

    Hi
I have a SharePoint 2013 On-Premise Deployment.  I have several sites and in each site is a document library which contains docx, xlsx and pdf.  All client machines have Office 2013 installed.
I want all file types to open in browser. I have change the document library settings to only open in browser and the site-collection feature "Open word in client" is disabled.
All xlsx and pdf open in the browser however docx do not.  They open in Office Word. This is the same for both IE and Chrome.
What can I do to make  docx open in the browser?
    Marc Collins www.QGate.co.uk

    Hi,
Please refer to the following article.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687(v=office.15).aspx
In SharePoint 2010, Office Web Apps was an service application, now In SharePoint 2013 it is a separate product, it has to installed on separate server and configured the settings in SharePoint 2013 server to open in the web browser.
Without configuring Office Web apps, you can still open Excel application in Web browser.  This is due to the Excel Services service application.
In SharePoint Online(Office 365), office web apps is installed and configured automatically, you don't have to do anything on this front.
Whereas in SharePoint 2013 On-premises, you need to take care of installing and configuring Office Web apps.
    Hope this answered your queries.
Please don't forget to mark it answered, if your problem resolved or helpful.
