Encoding is extremely slow (Export speed Slow)

Hi All,
I have just signed up to CC for video editing. I have been previously using a friends computer that has CS5 full suite. It has been great. Very fast and easy.
Decided to purchase a new powerful 6 core i7 computer and signed up for the new CC software - premier Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder and Photoshop. All installed fine
I film and edit my sons soccer games. A typical 90min soccer game would take around an hour to export an 1080p25 MP4 file on my friends computer. Would also take similar time for 720p version.
I just did my first edit in CC and set up export for 1080p25 and 720p25.
What shocked me is the estimated time for encode is over twelve hours!!! What has happened. How can this be? Some times the coach wants copies but this time frame to wait is crazy.
How do I fix this slow encode time and bring them back to a more realistic 1 hour ish?
Thanks Bryan

  • Slow Export Speed

I am doing some MP3 file exporting of multi-track projects today with STP3. The export speed is VERY SLOW. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and STP3. Never had this problem with Leopard and STP2. My disk is only half full, the speed of the processor is the same, yet this is taking WAY TOO LONG! Any suggestions on speeding up the process with Snow and STP3?

  • Export Speed Slow or is it just me??

could you guys tell me your experience with exporting images. I am exporting as Tiff's. for example a wedding in which I have made collections by files, average group is 100-175 images.
Should it take me allllllll day???
Are we able to export more than one collection at a time. Which I have done, but It renders my computer useless for ANY other operations??
I read about the Lightroom vs the type/speed of computer and upgrading doesn't sound like the answer.
love to hear back your experience
    thank you
    Sherry

On a P4 2.8GHz single-core machine, exporting takes about 12 seconds per image or so (5 per minute) for 12.8MP RAW images from a Canon 5D.

  • Airport Extreme file transfer speed slower than expected.

I have an Airport Extreme with a 1 TB drive attached.
I'm trying to copy a bunch of files to it with a Windows Vista computer with a D-Link wireless N dual-band adapter (connected to the 5GHZ channel, which I configured to act solely as wireless N 5 GHZ), but the transfer is only taking place at 1.3 MB/sec.
I'd expect more in the 8-9 MB/sec range for my new router given other benchmarks I've seen. What could be going on?

  • T410 slow wireless speeds

We recently acquired two refurbished T410's - both of these laptops have extremely slow wireless speeds (slow or no page loads) and it seems that they periodically disconnect from the wireless connection for short periods of time.
I have these laptops connected to the same wireless connection as many other computers in our office - all of the other computers operate normally - only experiencing this issue with the two T410's.
I see that others have had a similar problem, but have not been able to locate a solution. Any help the community can provide would be appreciated.

  • Time Capsule with an Airport Extreme bridge resulted in slow LAN speeds

Wondering if other people are seeing this. I am unsure if this was a result of upgrading both my TC and AEx to 7.6, but my LAN speeds had suffered in this configuration.
    1.  Comcast cable modem connected to the WAN port on my TC.
    2.  Connected an ethernet cat6 cable from the TC to my Airport Extreme, which was configured as a bridge.
    3.  My desktop was connected to the Airport Extreme.
    4.  When doing file transfers within the LAN or general internet usuage, my network speeds were extremely low.
    5.  Disconnected the cat6 cable from the TC and plugged that directly to my desktop.
    6.  Network speed jumps up by a factor of 5. LAN file transfers and internet usuage has returned to what I had expected.
Is there a known issue where a bridged AEx conncted to another Airport "main" device will result in all machines connected via the AEx to have slow LAN speeds?
I didn't see this issue months ago. I did less than 2 months ago upgrade our machines to the 7.6 firmware, but after experiencing some hiccups on the network, reverted back to 7.5.2.  However, the slow LAN speeds haven't gone away when the two airport machines are connected to each other.
Any insight or advise is appreciated.

By now, millions of users have updated to 7.6 and I cannot recall seeing a post similar to yours on this forum.
As far as a "known issue", you would need to contact Apple regarding that.
Suggest that you have the AirPort checked out at an Apple store if you have one near you.

  • Macbook pro: Extremely slow upload speed

    Hi,
I know this question has beed raised many times before me, seemingly from hundreds or thousands of users, but none of the threads I have found has lead to any solution.
My new Macbook Pro (15 inch), using Lion 10.7.3, is simply unable to obtain anything but an extremely slow upload speed, when using Wifi. I am using an Apple Airpor Extreme wifi device. My work PC, my older Macbook Pro (13 inch), all tablets and telephones etc hooks up to the same Wifi device and obtain all the speed they should, but my new Macbook Pro is sloooooooooooowwwww and sometimes cannot even initiated an uload speedtest at i.a. www.speedtest.net.
As mentioned, I am aware that there are plenty of threads on this, but I am not aware of any that provides a solution.
Is there a solution or is my new Macbook nothing but crAplle?
    Best regards,
    n

My subscription is 10 Mbps downloadand 2 Mbps download. upload
I get that (10/2 Mbps) on all other devices, other than my new Macbook Pro.
On my new Macbook pro I get 10 Mbps download, but only from 0 to 25 Kbps upload.

  • Extreme slow upload speed in Dallas area

    Hello
Something happened to my upload speed last Thursday, it has dropped considerably connecting to most servers making many sites very sluggish. I have the hardest time just attaching a file in Gmail and the gmail chat keeps saying 'unable to connect'. Using FTP for my work is almost impossible. It's takes me 5-10 tries to upload a file that's not even 50KB.
I've called Verizon tech support and went through different diagnostics and then they sent a new router, which still didn't help. Here's what I concluded so far:
    It's not the router
It's not the computer since it happens on every machine
It's not the wiring since I can get good speed test connecting to some servers.
It's not the servers that i'm connecting to; everything works when i'm at work or on the phone.
I have 15/5, I've attached some speed test results.
Verizon's own speed test page even timed our during upload, which was stuck under 0.5 when it was about to finish.
Anyone else experiencing this? Verizon say my issue is currently with the engineers, but I have no idea how long that wait to be.
    Thank you

Is there any Verizon representative that can escalate my issue?
Basically a tech came last Saturday and wasn't able to figure out what was wrong and left and closed my ticket. Whenever I call back now they're just telling me it's my computer, which is completely FALSE. All my 5-6 computer just doesn't happen to have slow upload speed of the sudden and require modification to RWin buffer as the suggested by the on-site tech. Verizon phone support bluntly told me they can't do anything further and would charge me for coming out again to replicate my issue.
Things the tech have already tried:
-Run Fios Optimizer multiple times on multiple computers.
    -Replaced router
    -Replaced ONT
    -Rebooted PON card
Upload speed still sporadic, works perfect on some speedtests, but it's less than 0.5MB on many servers including Verizon's very own local speedtest. Gmail and any google site request is constantly slow. This site is slow and often times out. FTP to my own site is almost impossible if I want to upload a file that's bigger than 100kb.
I'm extremely frustrated.... There are reports of same exact issues in other thread, one seems to be fixed. Is there any way Verizon can look at that and apply it here?

  • Extremely slow DSL speeds. Up speed higher than Down speed. Please help.

    I just purchased the 1.1 - 3.0Mbps hi-speed DSL package.
Verizon speed test shows .17Mbps down and .536Mbps up. This is obviously curious for two reasons: 1) the incredibly slow down speed, and 2) the down speed being slower than the up speed.
    Curiously, speedtest.net shows different results:
    2.45Mbps down, .55Mbps up
What could this mean? Transceiver data follows.
    Transceiver Revision 3.3.6.10.0.1
    Vendor ID Code 4D54
    Line Mode ADSL_G.dmt
    Data Path FAST
    DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec)
    Down Stream Path 3360
    Up Stream Path 864
    Margin (dB)
    Down Stream Path 27.1
    Up Stream Path 16.0
    Line Attenuation (dB)
    Down Stream Path 20.1
    Up Stream Path 8.0
    Transmit Power (dBm)
    Down Stream Path 6.8
    Up Stream Path 11.9
Thanks in advance for any advice/ assistance you can offer. This is extremely frustrating.

OK. It seems as though you're suffering from what some people call "Juniperitus." If you're on a Remote DSLAM that uses Alcatel Litespan equipment (Litespan 2000 for example) along with being connected to a Juniper Networks ERX edge router, there tends to be an incompatibility between the two pieces of equipment that causes TCP connections and pretty much any other form of transfer to see artificial packet loss, which results in transmission. This results in inefficiency in every transfer, so what you're seeing is simply a result of all of this. In the past when Verizon first installed Litespan, they were using older Redback Networks edge routers, which did not create such problems. I'm on a Litespan and happen to still be on a Redback in my area (one of remaining ones still in operation in my area) and I get my max line speed with no issue. It's unfortunate that these actually perform better despite the Junipers being far better edge routers in terms of capacity.
I know someone who should be able to get this fixed for you. I'll send you a Private Message.

  • Extremely Slow Download Speeds Compared To Pc

My PC when downloads the same file at 100+ kb/s when my MacBook downloads at maximum of 25-30 kb/s.
How can I speed it up.

I'm getting a slow download speed, what can I do to improve it?
If you are using a firewall or router, be sure that ports 6112, 3724, and 6881 through 6999 are open and forwarded to your computer and only your computer. Refer to your firewall/router's documentation for instructions on opening ports and setting up port forwarding. Also, make sure that no other programs that use bandwidth are running while using the Blizzard Downloader.

  • Super slow share speed on FCP7

Anybody else experiencing insanely slow share speeds in FCP7? It's probably just my machine, but I thought I'd ask. I have a iMac Core2Duo 2.1ghz with 128meg ATI Radeon. I was super excited about this feature but it wants to take 70 minutes to burn a 1 minute, 30 second DVD.

I'm exporting a 2 minute DV 4x3 NTSC Sequence. All I am doing is just going to file menu - share - burn dvd. No fancy menu, nothing like that. It takes at least 70 minutes to encode.
The funny thing is - if I export the video as a QT Movie then do the same action in Compressor, it encodes the video in 4 minutes burns a DVD in about 7 minutes after that. With the exact same settings I used in the Share Menu through Final Cut Pro.
I'm a little baffled by this. I tried it on both a MacBook 2.0 (the last generation with the NVidia Graphics Card) and on my iMac 2.1ghz Core 2 Duo. Same result. The iMac has 2.5 gig in ram.
I hope this is just a badly written bug......

  • WRT310N Playstation 3 Slow Download speed and general lag

Hey guys, I just recently bought the WRT310N and got both of my computers working with it. One is wired directly into the router, while the other is running off wireless. My Playstation 3 is able to connect to the router but I am getting an extremely slow connection speed.
Right now, both PC's get about 6.4-6.5 Mbps download speed while my Playstation is anywhere from 600 Kbs to 1.2 Mbps. I have plugged in my Playstation 3 directly into the modem and got a speed of 3.2 Mbps and was downloaded a demo very fast, but I do not recieve anywhere near those results when using it wireless.
Any advice? I have tried opening the ports, but that only seemed to slow it down. A couple of days ago I opened the ports specific to the game NHL 10 and for two days I was getting such a good speed in the game that it felt like I was playing offline, which was great! Then this morning, it just seemed do a complete 180. Now when I play the game I get an extreme amount of lag, and my other games like CoD4 get random lag spikes. Like, I'll be running and I get a lag spike which seems to happen fairly consistently every minute or so.
Any advice? Should I try opening the ports again or what?

I think you need to adjust the wireless settings of your Router, The wireless settings on your Router must have been setup to its default that's the reason you are receiving low signal strength on your PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Internet Connection Speed SLOW!

    My Set-up...
2012 MacPro 3.33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon running Mavericks 10.9.5
    Airport Extreme Base Station -  Card Type: AirPort Extreme  (0x14E4, 0x8E) - Supported PHY Modes: 802.11 a/b/g/n - Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.106.98.100.22)
    Modem - NEW Arris DOCSIS 3 CM820
Suddenlink High-Spped Cable (up to 50Mbps advertised in my area)
MackBook Pro 17" 2011 Model running Yosemite 10.10.2
Here is my problem. Last week Suddenlink increased the minimum bandwidth in my area to 50Mbps from 15Mmbps. They said I would need to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3 Modem to be able to take advantage of that speed increase however, so they sold me a new modem (Arris CM820) which I hooked up today.
I ran a Speed-Test at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ both with my old Motorola Modem just before I disconnected it, then ran the test again after I upgraded the modem. I am connected to BOTH my PowerMac 2012 and my MacBook Pro 2011 via the SAME WiFi Network Base Station (Airport Extreme). My older MacBook Pro immediately showed a HUGH Speed Gain when running the speed-test, but the MacPro "download speed" actually went DOWN??? What could cause this?
    Mac Pro:
Before: 17.48 Mbps Download | 1.59 Mbps Upload
After: 3.32 Mbps Download | 5.37 Mpbs Upload
    MacBook Pro:
Before: 17.32 Mbps Download | 1.52 Mbps Upload
After: 49.36 Mbps Download | 5.58 Mbps Upload

As far as your configuration goes, I do not see anything strongly out of whack. You may want to set IPv6 to link-local only (both here and on your Macs) since it is not yet used for most Home Networks (but may be used by Bonjour Service Discovery). It seems unusual that your Airport Admin port (50.27.113.156) is set to a "real" Internet address, and not just a 10.0.xxx.yyy "strictly-local" Address, such as Manually  10.0.1.201 (just beyond the range you are using for your Macs). Do not set anything to 10.0.1.254 -- that is reserved for Broadcast your local network.
The way it is set now, I can ping that Admin address from across the Internet. It is showing about a 75 msec answer time at this writing, and no lost packets.
In the 2.4GHz band, there are at most three clear channels at higher speeds (where the channels were originally created for older 11Mbits/sec.) You are showing at least six other Routers in range. Using the 2.4GHz range means you are trying to shout over those other Networks. This will work for a while, but when they are active, you will slow way down.
Slowing down appears to be what is showing with your updated Option-WiFi screenshot. Your signal strength is still very good, but your Transmit rate had to be reduced from 130 to 104 due to inability to send without errors at highest speeds. You may still be getting errors, which would cause re-transmissions and slow your speed test results, but may not be so slow that the Transmit speed would downshift again (yet).
As an experiment, try running your Router at 5GHz n-mode only. Use it for a while that way. Maybe even run the speed Test. Then capture that Option-Wi-Fi data again and post it here. I would expect it to show a consistent higher speed (like 300), and not give you other problems. But if it cannot attain a higher speed, that may indicate a Hardware Problem.
I do not understand why your Mac does not move to the 5GHz band automatically.

    Hi,
I have had bt broadband opt3 for almost 3 months now and have always had a healthy 9mb+ connection, however have noticed it being very slow in the evening when I come home from work, I checked the speed last nite as iplayer was constantly freezing and was getting 1mb . A bit upset by this as I got bt broadband to play my ps3 online and to get faster speeds on my laptop, and I use these services mostly at nite.
I checked my speed this morning and was getting 11mb, is this normal or am I being capped I cant believe Id be going over my download limit. Can someone from bt get back to me on this?
    Thanks

Yes Alison, I think I can see that now. I wouldnt mind if broadband was a bit slower at peak times, I know thats normal, but when I'm only getting 1mb when my max is 14mb, I just dont feel I'm getting what I pay for. And when it gets to the point where I cant watch iplayer without it stuttering everywhere and online games lagging on the ps3, this is certainly not what I'm paying for.
I was hoping one of the mods here would help me and check my line and see if there is any cap on the line and get it removed.
I really dont wanna phone India, I deal with them 5 days a week as is...
Think I will just send one of the mods an email to check my line and see if it is being capped or if somethings wrong.

You will never get decent speeds on Iplayer,
BT limit it because they want you to subscribe to their precious BT Vision service.
The only way you are guaranteed to get decent speeds on BT is to subscibe to BT Vision and also unlimited broadband.
Then you will get priority when you stream TV at your exchange unlike fighting it out with all the other broadband users as you currently are for the available bandwith.the more over subscribed your local exchange the worse it is

    Hi John,
I can take a look at the network side of things for you, to see if there is anything I can do to help improve your speed during peak periods. Please could you drop me an email with your BT account details? Please also include a link to this thread. It would also be very helpful if you could run a few speed tests using www.speedtester.bt.com when you feel your Broadband is running slow. I can then check those results from here.
    Thanks

Well John i'll tell you what it is...
First of all welcome to BT and I hope you'll enjoy 18months of pain and suffer.
    OK here it goes....
If you look at your contract, find a rule that says Fair Usage Policy.
Basically it states that BT will cap anyone that is abusing their lines.
However, it does not say what are the limits after which you are going to be capped for how long and at what times. (I'll come back to this later and explain)
If you ring 08007076044 I'm sure that someone will confirm my theory. As constant 1MBit between 6PM till 11/12 PM is actually FUP applied on to your account.
Ok time to explain my frustration about FUP.
Since I signed my contract with "lovely" BT for constant 4 months I had similar issue but it took me even longer to find out what is going on and how to deal with this problem (thanks to google).
FUP team states that if you exceed 100GB in a month (everyone will admit that these days 100GB is nothing when a single game for PS3/XBox360/PC sometimes is more than 5GB and 1080p film is about 12GB) will cap you for a month at peak times to outstanding and superfast 1Mbit (about 130-150KB/s).
I'be been watching my download and for few months never exceeded that 100GB in a month. Been ringing FUP team to verify when suddenly they told me that from (cant remember exactly) March FUP will apply only to accounts that are using Torrents and other P2P.
you won't believe how happy I was hearing that.... So i've started to download and next month guess what.... 1Mbit connection.
Really mad rang FUP team and asked them what on earth is going on. They confirmed that its only P2P and I've explained them that I only use Youtube, BBC iPlayer, Rapidshare, Steam and XBox Live, Beatport (just don't understand how ppl can use torrents and other P2P as they are just way to slow). So they were happy to take the cap off my broadband connection.
Next month same issue solved exactly the same way.
After that for consecutive few months I had no problem whatsoever until September where FUP Team said that there is no such thing and FUP applies to everyone.
So just want to say that BT is rubbish that can't keep their word.
I went to one of the sales advisor in the shopping centre and asked him how FUP works as it does not say in the contract "how, when, who and what".
So he said that policy is applied based on amount of files downloaded within that 100GB. So if I download e.g. 3x 50GB (although its 150GB altogether) files I wont be affected but 100x 1GB will put a cap on me.
I've been so curious if what he said was right and started to download 2x 60GB and guess what... Got frigging FUP placed on my account!!!.
    I've got 2months left with them and will be extremely happy to cancel my contract, moreover, I will do everything in my power to sue them under EU Consumer Rights Law (that states that contract should be clear and fair to both sides) as Fair Usage Policy is one of those things that allows BT to do anything they want to their customers;
    1. No clear explanation of what FUP is.
    2. Does not states the amount of downloaded data required to have cap on the acount
    3. Does not states for how long it will be applied
    4. Does not states when it will be applied
If you look at e.g. Virgin Broadband everything is clearly written in nice and understandable way. It warns you at what times FUP will be applied under what circumstances and for how long. Isn't it what we all want to know??

@Mateusz I think I maybe a victim of this outragous stint BT have done. I have 2 XBOX 360's running on XBOX Live, 2 Desktop PCs connected to the web constantly, and 3 laptops, we have a torrent sharing running and World Of Warcraft on one of the PCs. All of this is shared across a 6 person family. How can a family where two members goto to college and university do their college ork, download application such as VB.net do their coursework and revise without the hassle of a **** connection. Seriously BT get your ******* head outta your **** and stop this ********, we are customers, we pay for what we are offered. When I signed up several years ago I could download everything on the net woithout infracions on my line being set in motion. You altered my contract without telling me. You will lose custom from this. Also you have ****** my wireless

You lot are lucky, We wish we could be capped to 1mbit. Our IP profile is capped to 500kbit because BT say the line isn't good enough for anything more. We are paying for option3 up to 8mbit and BT have said we must continue to pay for it for the remainder of the contract, or buy ourselves out of it early, the reason they give.... Up to 8mbit means up to 8mbit. If you dont get 8mbit then TOUGH LUCK SUCKERS!!
The outcome? We feel like we've been turned over by a dodgey second hand car salesman called BT. The internet deal he flogged us was a dog, a ringer, it wasn't cosher and certainly had a false MOT certificate.

    Hi Amanda,
Why have you joined BT Option 3 when you can not get what BT can offer?
No pun intended but you are a bit of a sucker for paying high prices where other suppliers are cheaper and can provide what your line can support.

we moved house last october to this one, the connection was rubbish from the get-go, BT said the router was broken and we needed a new one, we said OK. That "OK" meant that we had entered into a new contract for option 3 same as out old one. The router wasn't broken, the new one didnt fix or improve the problem, we have since asked for a price reduction or compensation and been told "no". we are in contract and can pay to buy ourselves out of it if we like but otherwise we have to pay for option 3 and recieve fixed rate 500kb.

    Hi Amanda,
I think you'll find that the Hold To Term rules have changed. BT are now unable to charge you for the account if you no longer require it. It is against OFCOM's rulings for a company to make more money out of you as a leaving customer than an existing one. However, You will need to pay for the connection charge (if that has not expired it's original differed contract) which is £40. A cancellation fee of £25 if you are simply cancelling and not migrating using a MAC key and for any hardware. The Routers are advertised at £88 and i would suggest that if they believed on to be faulty then that would be replaced under guarantee and not be put on a differed basis. I would check exactly what they say the are charging you and query this through OFCOM. http://www.ofcom.org.uk/

Months of impecable service form BT as an option 3 customer. (I've even recommended BT to people)
    but
For the past 2 weeks peak traffic has murdered my connection.
I can get 14mbit off peak, and it used to drop to about 7-9 at peak times.
Now its down to 1-2mbit at peak times. (no i haven't breached FUP as I check my btinternet inbox for the 80GB warning)
I think its resonable to experience drop off but 90%!!!
BT advertising says fast speeds at peak times. less than 2mbit is not fast. (that the governments minimum standard!!!)
I don't know how to procede because when I'm experiencing these issues if I ring up I will end up waiting so long to speak to someone (because its peak time) the concection wiill be better again.
I can think of no recourse other than to approach trading standards...
Guarnetee me 5mbit at peak times (enough to stream HD iplayer) and I'd be happy
That is what BT vision customers are in essence are getting + what ever their PC is using.
Fair usage? what about Fair Supply.
