Encoding to output for HDTV viewing question

I would like to know what presets are best for the most prestine output to watching an encoded clip in HD. e.g. Given a HDV input, worked in FCP 5 then then encoded. What presets encoding are going to give the best results to watch on a HD monitor, and how long should it take on a G5 dual 2 for say an hour of clip? h.264 in 1080i or 720p or Mpeg4 in 1080i or 720p... consider I don't want to wait a week for encoding. I would like to know if anyone has figured general times for encoding with these conditions.
thanks in advance

I have found the answer. In capturing in dv or hdv I can encode in DVD 4 Pro once it is imported and then selecting the encoding option by right click on the dv file and chose my preset. I watch it thru a hd monitor/tv with a dvi cable and the dvd 4.6 player and it works great. So, I found a way to gather in cable tv using a canopus advc 100 720x480 of a hd program so the res is much improved going in, then process/edit and send to DVD 4 Pro. There is some loss but for home view it works great. I did find some not so know exceptions when you go to support and look for h264 encoding help and it tells some gems about how and what presets to use. I didn't find it in the manual. Also used the latest update to DVD 4 Pro 4.02.

• Setting DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL Output for Materialized Views

Hi all.
My Oracle version is 10g.
I'm extracting the DDL of all the objects from database using the DBMS_METADATA package. I'm using SET_TRANSFORM_PARAM to configure the output because I need a simple sql code, without information about tablespaces, storage and segment attributes. Everything works fine except when I'm working with mviews object types. I can't remove the information about tablespace, storage or segment attributes for materialized views.
I would like to know if there's a related issue about it. Or there's something missing in my code?
I tried to specify the object type as another parameter on DBMS_METADATA.SET_TRANSFORM_PARAM but don't work too.
The only transform parameter that works fine with Materialized Views is the SQLTERMINATOR.
See how I have done:
declare
vDDL clob;
begin
dbms_metadata.set_transform_param (DBMS_METADATA.SESSION_TRANSFORM, 'STORAGE', FALSE);
dbms_metadata.set_transform_param (DBMS_METADATA.SESSION_TRANSFORM, 'TABLESPACE', FALSE);
dbms_metadata.set_transform_param (DBMS_METADATA.SESSION_TRANSFORM, 'SEGMENT_ATTRIBUTES', FALSE);
dbms_metadata.set_transform_param (DBMS_METADATA.SESSION_TRANSFORM, 'SQLTERMINATOR',TRUE);
select dbms_metadata.get_ddl ('MATERIALIZED_VIEW', 'MV_STO020', 'HIS117_CHECK') into vDDL FROM DUAL;
dbms_output.put_line (vDDL);
end;
and how the output is:

Right. I found this way but I consider this just a quick fix, because I think there should be a better way to do this.
create table t_clob (c_long);
declare
p clob;
begin
delete from t_clob;
execute immediate 'insert into t_clob (select to_lob(query) from dba_mviews where owner = :1 and mview_name = :2)'
USING 'HIS117', 'MV_STO020';
select 'CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW MV_STO020' || chr(10) ||
'REFRESH ON DEMAND' || chr(10) || 'AS' || CHR(10) || mv.c_long
into p
from t_clob mv;
dbms_output.put_line(p);
end;
Thanks all.

• Expression Encoder 4 Output for all video is a green screen with audio

I keep getting a green screen outputting any video while trying each setting. I've read somewhere that its the compatibility of the filters on the computer but I have no idea what do use to make it work. Any suggestion's would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm having this problem too.  It's a shame no one has bothered to support this application.

• Output for TV Monitor Viewing

We're putting together an animated slideshow presentation for a sales office, which will be viewed on a large TV.
I have experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, and Edge Animate....and wonder which of the ACCloud apps should we use to produce the final presentation.
We would like to have it run from a Flash Drive....but would consider adding Google TV so we could use the Chrome browser.
1. I think Edge could be a good choice for us, for product image and text transitions?
2. If built in Edge with fluid layout, could we use Media Encoder to output H.264 HD 1080p so the TV would play it as a video file?
3. Should I build in Flash, and use Media Encoder as in #2 above?
I know this is a very obtuse post, so please just point me in a direction.
Thanks in advance,
JZ

Edge outputs to HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (web technologies).  I don't see how you could use Media Encoder on that.
If you want a high res video, use Flash or Premier Pro.

• Second Graphics Card for HDTV Output + HDV Live Preview

Hi guys,
I have a few questions about hardware and Premiere Pro CS5. I am using Windows 7 x64 with a Dual DVI nVidia GeForce 7950GT which is outputting to two DVI LCD monitors. I want to install a second graphics card so I can look at the main preview window in Premiere on my HD LCD TV and would like to know what the best plan of attack is. Also, I want to be able to preview my HDV captures on my HDTV as relying on the 2.5" LCD on my Sony HVR is not eye-friendly!
I am thinking about either selling the 7950GT and buying a GeForce 470GTX which has 2 dvi and 1 mini-hdmi, or, keeping the 7950 and buying a cheapish 2nd graphics card to just use for the HDTV. What do you guys think is the best option?
This is the graphics card I am thinking of getting ( http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=hs87bcOLPd9irXRk&templete=2 ) an ASUS ENGTX470  / 2DI / 1280 MD5, my server can just handle it's power requirements, but I am happy to upgrade the power supply if this card will ouput to 2 DVI monitors and also to a HD TV with a mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter. An Antec 1000w power supply is only about $225!
Or, I can take the cheap option and get an NVIDIA Quadro FX 580  by Leadtek( http://www.leadtek.com/eng/workstation_graphics/overview.asp?lineid=2&pronameid=491&check= f ) which is a cheapy with 2 HDMI and 1 DVI. I guess there are other PCI-X graphics cards out there to choose from which are probably fine, but it would be awesome to know what some of you guys are using.
Surely there are others out there that already have a dual monitor setup with a third LCD TV for previewing?
Anyhelp would be much appreciated!

@Harm: Thanks for that, I thought a card with three outputs would be  too good to be true. I think I will buy a much cheaper 2nd PCI-X  graphics card and just use its HDMI output for the HDTV. We will be  doing a complete overhaul of this machine sometime in the future and I  will buy an awesome graphics card with power supply to boot then.
@J-MS: Currently we are moving away from a Matrox Axio HD as their  support for Windows 7 and CS5 has been lackluster, and I don't reward  companies that provide zero or no support with future business. I would  rather be free of a third-parties proprietary codecs, plugin and  decoders.
@Thrill: Thanks for the link to that post, I read through it and it looks like I need to get a second card that is the same make as the existing card (ie. nVidia), which is what Harm was saying. When I capture from the tape deck, the capture preview window in Premiere goes blue and says in 5 different languages that the preview is going to show on the input device, or words to that effect. I am therefore looking at a 2.5" lcd for capturing! fail. I don't know why that is happening now to be honest, maybe it was because I was in a Matrox HD sequence before and the input device wasn't set correctly? I will double-check it again and see what the deal is.
I am very tempted to just get an el-cheapo nVidia 8400GS Turbo Cache 512M DDR3 DVI HDMI which is only $39!!!! It has HDMI and is small and has a very low power drain on the system. If it outputs to the HDTV then that's all I need, if it doesn't, I sell it on ebay for $25 and lose $14, big deal.

• What are the steps  to view the output for check printing

what are the steps  ,the method to view the output for check printing

Hi,
You can ask your functional person to make a payment to a vendor which will then issue a check. You can use the same payment run in program RFFOUS_C and create new checks by voiding the previous check number with a void reason code.
You can do this as many times as you want and test your check output.

• Questions for Purchaser viewing only

Hi team,
When creating RFX's, can you alert me of how you insert questions which are for 'purchaser viewing only' ?
There doesn't seem to be a function available on the page. I need this for some scoring issues which i have when posing, 'If not type questions'.
Many thanks.
Leon

Hi
What I understand of your requirement is that you need to keep some questions/ Sections visibility restricted to Purchaser Only . Unfortunately this is not possible.However I can suggest some workarounds which may apply to your business case:
some questions may be applicable for some candidates, yet not for the other. With this in mind, we still need all scores being scored
Here you can set question section scoring method preference to Manually Score. All the questions would be visible to all the suppliers but you can designate which section of questions is meant for which supplier. Once you receive responses from supplier you would manually assign score keeping in consideration your reservations.
You can decide on a neutral score to be given for question that were not meant for the supplier.
In case you simply dont want suppliers to have visibility to all the questions, you need to create  seperate RFx events for such suppliers from within a project.In this case each supplier would only answer the questions meant for him/ her and from multiple RFx events you can select the one to be awarded based on scores obtained.

• Suiteable output for the web

Hi  everyone. I have a series of videos that I will be edit and combine  into 4 separate videos. As far as I know, we will be hosting these  ourselves, and people with a variety of connection speeds will be  accessing the videos. I am going to tell you the specs of the original  video I am using as a test piece and then asks some questions.
Original Video:
720 x 480 (.9091)
29.97 fps
48000 Hz Compressed Stereo
6 Minutes and 45 Seconds long
From a Canon FS200 (non-HD Camera)
For posting to the web, where should I focus my trimming back -- frame  rate or bitrate? I did a test video with a framerate of 15 fps and a bit  rate of 1 Mbps and a max of 1.5 Mbps. I left the audio at 192 Kbps, and  it sounded good. The video looked good too. File size was 59 MB.
I made another version of the same video at 30 fps, but dragged the  bitrate down to 233 Kbps and a max of 320 Kbps...and the video looked  terrible if there was any movement. I took the audio down to 56 kbps,  and the audio still sounded good. The file size was around 16 MB.
Additional Questions
1. Does anyone have any other suggestions for reducing the file size to keep the quality? I have been reading on some other forums trying to understand the relationship between fps and bitrate.
2. Should I reduce the resolution? I kept the video in its native resolution of 720 x 480.
3. Do the file sizes I mentioned above sound appropriate for the specs on the video?
4. Should I post 2 separate videos: a low-bandwidth and a high-bandwidth; maybe even offer some info for people to download it for offline viewing.
5. What considerations should I make for hosting? At what point is a file too big? If someone is watching over an hour of video over a DSL connection, they are going to be there for a while, and the video should hopefully fully download in the time it takes to complete, so as long as their downstream speed can keep up with (or stay ahead of) the video playback, does file size really matter a great deal...beyond just making sure we don't go over bandwidth limits with our host, ?
I  am using Premiere Pro CS4. We aren't adding any animations, and the  editing is real basic -- just chopping out the parts we don't want; no  image stabilization, maybe some color correction, and basic transitions. Not sure  if any of that matters. Additionally, I end up using the Adobe Media Encoder to generate the final video.  I am using the H.264 output, which gives an MP4 file.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Ian

wow.. that is a lot of stuff to consider and deal with...
theres a thread with some info about delivery from your own server using html 5 here...
html5 video delivery to various browsers and devices info
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/933013?tstart=0
your server bandwidth etc does matter and yes, I would consider making video less than 720x480 ...
look at this test video "page" i made on my own " server" ( i use inmotionhosting.com )
http://rodneybauer.com/whiteboard2.htm
the code in web page determines what is being 'used' by client and delivers what it needs ...and my test page doesnt do that... mine is just a simple test for desktop browsers using flash ( flv ) and a little viewer thing.
you have a lot of stuff to consider re: who you want to view your stuff, on what size " screens" ( little iphones etc? ) and then once you figure THAT out.. how to deliver best product ( video,sound) for streaming..
youre gonna need someone who knows code to do the web part as well as knowing about the codecs and so on.. lots of work etc ahead of you.
good luck !

• Excel Output for Standard Reports using XML Publisher

Hi All,
Customer wants to get Excel Output for the existing Standard/Custom Reports using XML Publisher. I followed the following procedure.
1. Changed the output to XML for Concurrent program ( Trial Balance - Detail )
2. Used the Existing seeded Template
3. Ran the Report using EXCEL as the output.
When I clicked on View Output, I am not able to see the Excel output. I am seeing the HTML tags in the output window. Verified that Viewer Options existed for Excel as follows:
File Format=Excel, Mime Type=application/vnd.ms-excel.
When I ran the report with PDF output. I can see the PDF output.
Ran the HTML output with new Viewer Option ( File Format=HTML, Mime Type=application/vnd.ms-excel) then I can see the output in Browser in the Excel format. I did this test after going through the Metalink Note: Note:316752.1
My question is.. Do I need always choose the HTML ouput in the options window to trigger the Viewer option for HTML. Customer may not like this idea. He would like to choose the Excel Output and see the output in Excel format either in the Browser or Microsoft Excel.
Can someone in this situation before help me out.
Thanks,
V

Questions rephrase:
1. Is the output is same for HTML and Excel options ?
2. Why the output is viewable with HTML option and not with Excel option ?
Customer has XML Publisher Version 5.0.1 and in the process of applying 5.6.1
Thanks,

• Optical digital audio output for mac book?

Hello, I am wondering if MacBook pro Retina version has the Optical digital audio output or thunderbolt adapter? so i can use optical cable to do output for my music.

Hi alece,
Just to clarify something;
When using an optical cable there are several standards of audio that can pass through the cable:
S/PDIF - a stereo signal - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spdif
AC3 or Dolby Digital - up to 5.1 surround - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ac3
Dolby Digital Plus - up to 7.1 surround - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DolbyDigitalPlus
ADAT Optical - up to 8 channels of audio - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADAT_Lightpipe
MADI - up to 64 channels of audio - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MADI
I´m sure other people can add more to the list if they want to, my point is that these signals can pass through the exact same kind of optical cable.
The important bit to know is what does your equipment and software support... in theory your question is quite logical, a software can play 5.1 surround to a optical output like Apple DVD Player does with the built-in sound card of a modern mac. However, Logic does not support live encoding of AC3. That is why you have to output the surround mix in Logic to a sound card with at least 6 channels (5+1 as in 5.1) connected to your speaker system. Typically this would be 5 active studio monitors plus a sub. If you were thinking to use an existing stereo I would not recommend it since most consumer speakers have no limiters to protect them from damage (but may be possible depending on your amplifiers inputs)
I hope this answered your question
Cheers Espen

• CANCEL_FLAG in PO Output for Communication

I'm trying to build logic into an RTF template for the "PO Output for Communication" report to handle cancelled lines. The cancel_flag can be set to "Y" at any of 3 levels - PO Header, PO Line and PO shipment. The field is called the same thing (cancel_flag) at all 3 levels.
In my rtf template, I have a row in a table to display each PO line using the for-each clause. I do not want to display lines which are cancelled (ie where CANCEL_FLAG (at line level) = 'Y'.
How do I reference the CANCEL_FLAG specifally at line level (not header, and shipment line)??

I'm really stumped. I tried using the choose when clause but it doesn't work as I think it isreading the wrong cancel flag.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks, Ash

have to see your for-each statements.
and you can do it, by using .. to go up one level
example from current level to go up4 level up ../../../../CUSTOM_FLAG
../../../CUSTOM_FLAG three lvl up.
Need to know the cancel_flag element you said, i can see only one :) in the given xml.

• Bursting Control file, Error!! Could not deliver the output for Delivery

Hi,
I am using bursting control file to send report output to email in R12.1.3.
If the report output is having data, it is working fine. if there is no data it is getting errored out with the below message.
"Error!! Could not deliver the output for Delivery channel:null "
In the report output i put "No data found", when i click on view output the output in application is showing as "NO DATA FOUND" in PDF .
"Bursting VMC Approved Purchase Orders for a period (XML Publisher Report Bursting Program)" got above error.
my requirement is if there is no data, still i require the output to email.
Thanks in Advance
Adina.

Hi,
I am facing the same situation and want the bursting program to finish in normal even when there is no data.
Can you please let me know how you resolved this?
Thanks

• Issue in PDF output for xml report

Hi,
I developed one template in RTF and output in pdf is looks fine.
I have issue in the output, For some invoices i have more lines,when the line details comes to next page for the same invoice i can able to view only the lines information in the next pages for the same invoice without any header details.
I need header information too if the lines comes to the next page.
i given <G_Headers> in the top of the page and <End for each> in the end of the page.
please how to resolve this issue.
with regards
Ram

There are lot of ways of doing this,
Simple one is given here.
If you are using table to display the rows, there is option in word table properties, to repeat the header in each page,
Repeating table headers
If your data is displayed in a table, and you expect the table to extend across
multiple pages, you can define the header rows that you want to repeat at the start
of each page.
1. Select the row(s) you wish to repeat on each page.
2. From the Table menu, select Heading Rows Repeat
Check out in user guide.

• Excel output for the xml publisher report when it is scheduled

How to get the excel output for the xml publisher report when it is scheduled by a apps user? Like what is the user profile option (for the apps user who runs the report) and what are the other things that needs to be taken care of so that only this xml publisher report run by this apps user produces a EXCEL output (When scheduled) ???
Really appreciate it if any one can help me in this regards.
Thanks
Munna

Hi Munna,
For eBusiness Suite (apps user) the report output is stored the same way whether executed immediately or scheduled.,To get excel set the options > output format to Excel. Only the user that submitted the report can view it, or you can get the output file from the server. Or you can set the notify option so that a Workflow Notification is sent when the request completes.
