Encore 1.5 video in background issue

I am using Encore DVD 1.5 Build 1.5.0.41656 and am having an issue when adding video to a menu.  When I Ctrl and drag the video file from the Poject tab to the menu screen, it adds the video as it should.  HOWEVER, in doing so it deletes a layer out of my menu!  I start with 9 layers in my menu.  Then I Ctrl and drag the video file to that menu, and as soon as the "first bright frame" appears, on of those 9 layers literally disappears, not only from the visible menu screen, but also from the layers tab.  What is going on?!  Help please!
I'm sorry --- Alt not Ctrl!!

Welcome to the forum.
Now, I do not have En 1.5, but your opertion is as I do it in En 2.0. The Motion Asset comes in as the Background (Background in PS) Layer, and replaces the "black" Background of the Menu without the Motion Asset.
Tell us more about your Menu. What is its Background in PS?
Does En 1.5 have a Layers Panel in the Menu Editing Pane? As you drag your Motion Asset, does the Background Layer change, or do you see another Layer/Layer Set disappear?
Good luck,
Hunt

i.e. so whilst your project is exporting in the background, you could start up on another project for example

thanks Tom - what do you think re whether it's worth getting Compressor just for the benefit of contining working on editing the next project?  (i.e. noting you mentioned some performance issues)
Still might be worth it for me being able to some some level of editing in the next project even if the responsiveness is a bit slower?

  • Photoshop CC(2014) is having "redraw" or video driver/GPU issues

Since upgrading my Mac to OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), after a working on a file or two, my photoshop image window looks like this:
This is a JPG, after I have opened a RAW file, with Camera Raw 8.7 beta (happened before the Camera Raw
update), and make my adjustments, and save.  Everything seems fine, the jpg preview looks fine, but after working
on about 3 images, EVERY jpg opens and looks something like this.  I can see parts of other recent images
in the garbage as well, and the image changes drastically when I zoom in and out.
I already posted to the Adobe forums, and someone suggested it might be a video driver/GPU issue with the new OS X.
    Any suggestion?

An Adobe employee in the online community had me turn off "Use Graphics Processor" in the photoshop/prefs/performance,
and that worked.  Not a total fix, since I can't use that now, and something is clearly not compatible, but at lease I can use
    Photoshop.

Are you running the 9.0.1 Update of the program and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is your video card/graphics card driver up to date according to the manufacturer of the card?
Is your computer optimized, including maintenance of pile ups of preview files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
What are your project settings and what are the properties of your source media? When you say that "used to be able to export...." is that on the same computer, same brand/model/settings for the camera recording the video now in use, same Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
Where player are you using for the playback of these exports?
Please give us more details on the size of the projects (then and now) as well as details of the customized export settings in your Share/Computer/ route. Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 is only a 32 bit application running in 32 bit or 64 bit system. Not sure if computer resources might be taxed more so now than before.
    More later.

  • Gnome3 background issues

    Hello folks,
after I was tired bothering with the missing cursor in cinnamon, I switched to Gnome3.
At first, I had background issues, the desktop was looking like this:
    >>moderator edit: Removed large image. Read Forum Etiquette: Pasting Pictures and Code. Thanks. --fsckd<<
Because of this, I tried other WMs, XFCE and Mate. After not being satisfied, I turned back to Gnome and had to discover, my background issues were gone.
I uninstalled other WMs and after the next reboot, the issues came back. So there seems to be a package solving the problems.
Can anyone tell me, which of the uninstalled could be the reason?

Wow, I have exactly the same issue on my laptop (Gnome 3.10 is the only one desktop and WM installed), since the latest upgrades : the backgroung seems to be all messed up, bad refreshing, sometimes it becomes all white, or the windows leave a trace... What's happening ?
My graphic chipset is : Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset, and I'm using the default driver provided by Archlinux.

    Bonjour,

  • Wont Send Videos in Background

Skype Qik seems to recieve videos in the background but when I send one and switch to my start screen (dont close it out) it never sends. It just sits at sending forever.
I am running a Lumia 928 with a fully updated Preview for Dev OS.

The Windows Phone OS does not allow apps to use full bandwidth while operating in the background. So Skype Qik will upload your videos when backgrounded, but with a lower upload speed. So for longer videos it will take really long.

  • CS6 Encore Multi-Page Button & Background Issues

    I'm building a blu-ray project for a client using a multi-page motion menu.
The menu has a minute long video clip with audio looping behind it, and has four button options; Play movie, Languages, Bonus Material, and Scene Selection.
The Language, Bonus, and Scenes buttons each use a seperate page with highlighted text as buttons for aditional content. Each of these pages also has a light, brown background image which I've turned into a button as a workaround for them to be visible along with the buttons. No matter what I do, only the first page works properly.
I've tried turning each of the pages seperately into Page 1, (#1) Page 1, to make sure I have my settings correct, and they all work fine as long as they're the first page. However, every other page after page one, (#2), (#3), etc,  turns the buttons into a highlighted block unless I remove the brown backgrounds. Is there another work around this? Is this a limitation of blu-ray; to only allow one page to work with a background image at a time, or is this a limitation of Encore?

The thing the client is doing is using separate backgrounds for each option, which are spread out across the screen.
I took a look at the Dark Knight Rises, the Indiana Jones blu-ray set, and those discs kinda show what this client is aiming for; a main menu with play movie, languages, bonus material, and scene options with individual sub menus with separate backgrounds for each option.
If you happen to have those disc available, give them a look. Is Encore capable of creating blu-ray menus that work similar to those?
I've been researching this multi-page thing for a week now, and there just isn't a lot of info out there past creating one page. It seems I can create as many pages as I want without a background and it works fine. It's when I add a background to each page is when things start to become problematic. Buttons that were once color highlighted text become ugly solid color blocks.

  • Encore CS5 Blu-Ray Preview Playback Issues / Authoring Issues

    Hello,
    I'm using Adobe Encore CS5 on a Mac Pro (Nehalem) 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon w/ 8 GB Ram on Mac OS X 10.5.8.
I've recently upgraded to CS5 after having no luck using CS3 to make Blu-Ray discs.  So far my experience has been a little disappointing -- it feels like they still haven't got it right.  Below is a list of my issues thus far -- perhaps some of you have run into similar things:
    - When importing MATROX encoded H.264 Blu-Ray files Encore CS5 hangs up.  I tried this with a 54 minute encoded file.  Instead I re-transcoded using the CS5 Media Encoder to the Main Concept H.264.  This worked fine, although the import still hung up for several minutes before anything made it's way into the project.
    - When I try opening my already existing project with a 54 minute video inside it hangs up and takes as long as 3-5 minutes to finally open successfully.  This seems to happen consistently.
    - After rendering motion menus and rendering them in the project the playback preview stutters.  It's very steppy throughout as the video plays in the background.  I even tried authoring a disc and playing it in a Blu-Ray player -- it did the same thing once authored.  I've tried re-encoding the video in Media Encoder and have found the problem persists.  Has anyone else experienced this with motion menus?  By the way, I'm transcoding @ 25mbps (max 30mbps) in the Media Encoder.
    - While trying to re-author my Blu-Ray the playback preview does not play audio on the main video when I click to play it.  I've tried re-importing the asset and previewing but this does not work.  I'm going to re-author the disc anyway to see if it plays right on the disc but can't understand why the preview doesn't work even if the Blu-Ray itself is fine (which it is).  I should add that the first time I authored this disc the audio was fine on the main video.  Preview was also fine.  So I'm not sure what's happening now - I haven't changed anything in the project.
    - Portions of my video on the authored video play back with slight stutter even though the source video (ProRes HQ QuickTime) does not.  Is this a problem with the Main Concept H.264 encode?  Should I try a 2-pass VBR transcode as another try (instead of 1-pass)?  My target bit rate is 25 mbps (with a max of 30 mbps).  That shouldn't be too high for a player to handle without stutter.  The stutter also happens in the same place every time so it makes me think it's the encode of the file itself that's the problem.
All in all these are mainly quirks about Encore that have begun to add up and frustrate me as a user.  It would be nice if these things just worked as they should.  But if anyone has ideas or can think of something I might be missing in all of this that would be great to hear.
    Thanks for reading.
    All the best,
    JD

As a follow up, I tried knocking down the number of chapters by 1/3 so there would be a total of 28 chapters instead of 41. As it turns out, the disc is still exiting the timeline and returning to the main menu at exactly the same point (which happens to be one second into a particular chapter of the timeline, just shy of 90 minutes into the timeline). It's as if Encore has split my single timeline into two timelines.
If it's of any help understanding what's happening, the entire timeline is 02;05;23;21 long. When Encore creates the Blu-ray disc, playback of the timeline ends at approximately 01;26;43;10. I then have to go to my Scenes menu and pick up where I left off as it's the only way to see the last ~39 minutes of the sequence.
As I mentioned, if I burn this as a standard definition (4.7GB) disc, it plays normally with no breaks. It's only if I burn it to a 25GB single-layer Blu-ray disc that I see the problem (using multiple Blu-ray players).
Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on this problem.

  • DVD Menu/motion background issue

Every time I try to add a motion background to my DVD menu, the photoshop menu gets stretched horizontally. It looks fine when you add the video but when you preview and render it or burn it to DVD it stretches the menu. see screen shot.

Your menu shows as 1080x720; you say this is for DVD, but size would be wrong for DVD or Bluray.
Yes, you can get away with a variety of sizes; Encore will eventually transcode the menu to the project defaults. But using odd menu sizes makes problems more likely.
Make the menu itself the correct size. (Start with a library template for the project type - HD vs SD, standard vs wide.) Bring in a motion menu asset that is also the correct size. Don't  let Encore do any resizing of those assets.

  • Place a video (no background) from the Menu.

Well, I made a menu in Encore.
In it, I put a picture that fills the whole area of the menu, this picture has an empty space, and now want to put up a video of that empty space of a flower blossom.
The Video that I have and with transparent background.
The video is (. Mov extension).
I tried dragging it to the menu but appears a text instead of video.
I tried to drag him to the menu by pressing the 'alt' down but the video goes to the bottom and not send it forward or even edit their size.
    How do I do this?

    Carlos,
I think that you are missing the concept of what has been suggested.
To get the MOV file into the Background, and in one place, you need to create a Video, incorporating the MOV as a PiP. The rest of the Background will be static, i.e. the current Still Image, but because of the MOV file, you will now have a Motion Menu, although only part of it will be Motion.
Tell you what, if you can e-mail me your Menu's PSD (do not Flatten, as I will need to take it apart), and that MOV file, I will be glad to assemble them into a Motion Menu AV file for you. On your Menu PSD, Open that in Photoshop, and then drag some Guides, to show me exactly where you want that MOV. At that point, you can just do a Save_As PSD, and increment the file's name, so that I can see your Guides. Remember, it looks like the Aspect Ratio of the area where you want the MOV, and the Aspect Ratio of that MOV do not match, but I will do my best there. Also remind me if you are on a PC, or a Mac, as the choice of Export from PrPro will likely depend on that.
My e-mail's POP account can handle very large files, but you might want to send two e-mails - one with the PSD as an attachment, and one with the MOV as an attachment. That should get past any limits of your POP account.
My e-mail is info AT huntphoto DOT com. Obviously, you will close up spaces, and "AT" = the @ sign, while "DOT" = a period/dot.
I will produce the Motion Menu's Video Background, and e-mail it back to you. If your e-mail's POP account will not accept that attachment, I will then post it to my YouSendIt account, and send you an e-mail, on where you can download that. I plan on using the same steps, as listed above, so that when you see the results, you should just be able to use the Pickwhip to attach the Motion Background file to the Menu, but if you have any questions, you can just ask here, and I will give you step-by-step. It's really easy, with but that Aspect Ratio to consider, but the concept is a bit abstract. When you see it in action, much more will make sense to you, and then you can use those steps in the future.
I have a couple of days pretty free, and this should take me no longer than an hour, depending on that Aspect Ratio mis-match.
Good luck, and just let me know if I can help,
    Hunt

  • Background issue on title clips

Is there an issue with the background on title slides?  I have a project that starts with a title shot, white text on black background.  When exported as QuickTime mov file, pro res 4444, and linked to a power point on a Mac, there is a ghost image of the prior slide over the titles until a camera clip or motion image comes on screen.  Did I miss something on my titles?

By changing the power point blank side background to black, the prior slide image ghost seemed to go away, but then I got a smear across the screen where the text scrolled.  All this ends as soon as a clip from the camera or from motion comes on the screen.   Tweaked the settings without success.  Finally just toggled out of the power point and into QuickTime when it was time for the video.
    I'm not familiar with qtx
Got pretty close to eliminating this, but than the playback started stuttering.  So I toggled out during  the video playback.

  • Adobe Encore 1.5 DVD disc reading issues in DVD Duplicator

    Hello All,
I'm wondering if anyone has ever had the experience I'm having and if they might have a solution. I produce a weekly 1 hour music video program for public access cable TV. The show is bicycled to 15 different locations on DVD. I use Adobe Premiere and Encore the capture, edit and burn the completed program to DVD. I recently purchased a DVD duplicator tower (1 to 5 disc) to speed up the time it takes me to make the 15 copies I need. However, I have encountered an issue that I believe is related to Adobe Encore 1.5; when I put the completed master DVD into the duplicator, the duplicator is unable to read the disc. I know the disc (discs - I've tried several different shows on different DVDs with different types of blank DVD brands) is playable in the PC and on several standalone DVD players. Also, we get no complaints from the 15 stations that play our discs. At this time I'm stuck making 1 copy at a time in Encore. I know that the duplicator works as I have been able to test and successfully duplicate other DVDs and CD's that are not copy protected without issue. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? If I need to provide more information let me know?

Some notes/ideas here that may help
    To
Burn Error Proof DVDs (Well, close to error proof!)
Use the SLOWEST possible burn option your burner will allow in Encore, since it is much better to take a bit more time burning the disc than it is to burn "fast" and have a disc that won't play
Set the VIDEO portion of the transcoding options to a Maximum of 7,000 so your burned disc will have a better chance at playing in desktop players (which support burned discs, if at all, only as an "after thought" of the DVD specification)
Use AC3 or PCM audio transcode settings for best player compatibility (some discussion of MPEG audio not being supported by all players, especially for NTSC discs)
Buy and use Taiyo Yuden (or Verbatim?) brand blank discs

    Hey Gjobson,
Sorry to hear that Touch ID is not working for you. To get pass this, check out the troubleshooting in the article below to get this sorted out. If you still have issues, You may need to take it to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5883
    Get help with Touch ID
Make sure that you're using the latest version of iOS.
Make sure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning. Make sure that your finger touches the metal ring around the Home button.
If you're using a case or screen protector, make sure it doesn't cover the Home button or the surrounding ring. If it does, remove the case or screen protector and try again.
Tap Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on. Also make sure that you've enrolled one or more fingerprints.
    Try enrolling a different finger.
If you can't enroll any of your fingers, take your device to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for help.
    Take care,
    -Norm G.
