Encore 2.0 adds an empty chapter??

I have Encore 2 and I want simple DVDs. When I relink the end action of a timeline back to the same timeline, a second chapter is created which is empty. This is not shown in preview, but shown when you burn the disc. Help please

I just did a test disc with 1 menu with 3 buttons for 3 timelines. The End Action of each timeline is return to menu. I found that if I press the "Next" button on the remote control repeatly, it still jumps to another timeline. For instance, if the timeline has 5 chapter points, and I press the "Next" button repeated, say, 8 times; then I still find myself on another timeline. And the same holds true with the "Previous" button.
I have no "Overrides" anywhere. And I created DVD Image that was subsequently burned by DVD-Decrypter. I want to confine the viewer to just the current timeline so that if there is repeated pressing of "Next" button, it will end back at the menu. And repeated pressing of "Previous" will result in Chapter 1 playing. Is this possible? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks. :-)

How do I add a new chapter to iDVD without re-exporting from iMovie?

I created a movie and after I finished the project in iDVD I realized that I had not included one chapter. This must be a common problem ... but I can't figure out how to update the chapter info to include this new chapter. I did get a message about the movie having been updated and did I want to update iDVD to include the update but this did not add the new chapter. What should I do?

Did you already consult the help menu in iDVD?
To set chapter markers in a movie:
Select one or more movies in your project.
Choose Advanced > "Create Chapter Markers for Movie."
Type a number of minutes or click the up and down arrows to specify the frequency of chapter markers in the movie.
Click OK.
Once chapter markers are placed, you can't change them. If you decide you don't want to use them, don't create a scene selection menu. Chapter markers are not visible to viewers unless you make them accessible.

I tried it, as well. The line breaks were respected in the PowerShell console, Programmer's Notepad, and Word; they weren't in Notepad.
You are using a Unicode file. Locale is what?
If you just want notepad compatible line breaks then do this:
del file.txt ; "$env:computername`r`n`r`n`r`n$env:userdomain" | add-content file.txt ;notepad file.txt
Look in hex to see that `n is ^L or 0xA and is only one character. CrLf is 0xD 0xA - two characters.
My programmers editors and VS all understand a single ^L as a line break so does PowerShell. Only DOS/Notepad and other utilitis don't understand this..

Add a second chapter menu page when using individual movie clips

Hello!
I have imported about 20 short movie clips in iDVD and want them to be displayed in a chapter menu. But if I create a submenu as a chapter menu, I can't find a way to add a second page to this particular chapter menu. Of course I can add a new submenu with chapter menu styles, but then I get an ugly folder button (i'm using the white reflection style) and not a rightwards arrow on the submenu page that links to the second submenu page. If I add a Movie with 20 chapters, I get several submenu pages with left and rightwards arrows to navigate through them. Is there a way to get this effect with seperate clips? I don't want to join the 20 clips to one with chapters, because I want iDVD to return to the menu after playing each clip.

How long is your longest of the 20 or so movies you want to put in? One trick you might be able to use is to add a lot of chapters to that one movie to create a couple/few "scene selection" pages in iDVD. Add that movie to iDVD and the pages will be created.
Now add your other shorts. You can cut and paste between menus, so cut them from the main menu and drop them into the scene selection menus.
The chapters from your long movie can be selected and deleted, leaving only the short movies on those pages. Keep in mind that you are only removing the chapters from the menus. Those chapters will still exist in the movie itself so when someone is playing the movie and hit the chapter forward or back button on the remote, it will jump to the next chapter. But that might be fine.

Expression.getFunctionWithArguments() adds additional empty argument...

Hi; I'm trying to use the Expression.getFunctionWithArguments() method to include the Oracle db function bitand() in a query. It seems that getFunctionWithArguments() always includes an extra ',' at the front of the argument list, here's an example of the SQL that is created;

It seems this method requires a base, which is t2.privilege in your case. You need to call getFunctionWithArguments() on the base. So your code should be something like:

Can I add a new chapter page between existing pages?

I would like to divide the last chapter I've written into two chapters. I didn't think of this at the time, now it seems logical. I have added a new chapter page with photo template, it appears at the bottom of the "book navigation" pane, but I can't drag and drop it between the pages it needs to separate. Do I need to erase 8 pages and begin again? I hope not!

If you're used to fluid, non-linear editing, iBA can be quite the headache until you get in sync with how it expects us to work .
You may find it beneficial to experiment with throw-away books first, so that you find out what will/won't work for your content - that way you may reduce time wasted learning the hard way later. I find it's better to spend time rough drafting my content on paper, or in Pages, before laying it out via iBA. Once you get into the habit of linear editing, you'll have an easier time of it - I hope.

Encore cs 5.1 blu ray chapter not working.....

I've a tone of problems with this version. Encore showing error codes 14, 25.....Some of the chapters working fine but others not. I've tried several ways to solve the issues but no hope. It seems you need full knowledge of blu ray theories to burn a blu ray!!!!

Okay, we are starting to make progress, but why are you shooting in HDV? That is a lossy system using non-sqyuare pixels so the whole thing is effectively getting converted. No wonder it took 21 hours and it looks to me as if you exported to the wrong settings - .m4v is regular .264, not BluRay. See Stan's suggestion.
We still need to see the exact error messages - it looks likely you are out of HDD space. Remember that Premiere & Encore use 32-bit float audio temp files, and the media cache databases will be enormous.....how much HDD free is remaining?

Hi, I'm new to Encore (had it one day).
My first DVD showed something unexpected and annoying to me, which apparently is a "feature" added to Encore 2.0. I made a simple DVD with a single title ("timeline" in Encore speak) and set it's end action to jump to the first chapter of the same timeline. It seems that instead of doing that Encore added an extra chapter at the end with a chapter end action. See this previous thread:

This is a problem for me because I am making DVDs to use with Pioneer's industrial DVD players (ie: DVD-V7400) and those players will not play a chapter that is too close to the end of the disc.
My video clip is exactly 108900 frames and contains a chapter 2 mark 5 seconds before the end. I can not have an end action on chapter 1. The disc must play through the chapter 2 mark for at least a couple of seconds. Encore is adding an extra 12 frames and calling it chapter 3.
In the past I have exported MPEG-2 clips from Premiere and transfered them over my LAN to a Mac with DVD Studio Pro, where I authored the DVDs. I never had problems with the resulting discs, which only contained the 2 chapters, and had a title end action to jump back to chapter 1. I wanted to simplify my workflow and decided to buy Encore, figuring it was a professional grade authoring program.
Has anybody found a way to disable this "feature"? Or to adjust how many frames are added by it to the additional chapter? Besides the annoyance of the disc being created differently than I specified, it is causing me a problem because these Pioneer industrial players will not play a chapter that is shorter than 15-20 frames at the end of the disc. The chapter being added by Encore is 12 frames (at least it was on the disc I created).
If I could adjust the number of frames it adds, to make it say 20 frames instead of 12, then the "feature" would actually function for me. As it is this "feature" is breaking my disc and making it not do what it is intended to do. Of course I would rather just disable this "feature" and have the disc created the way I told it to.

I haven't done any real experimenting yet. I had other things to get done today so I thought I'd ask about it here while working on those. I'll try some experiments over the weekend. I'm sure I can make it work by adding another chapter 20 frames or so before the end of my clip and having a chapter end action jump from there. But it just seems silly to have to do workarounds like that to get around this "feature". I was hoping there would be a way to turn it off or adjust it's size rather than to add more chapters on top of an extra one already.
I burned 5 copies of that project for use in a multi-channel DVD synchronizer that I manufacture, and in this specific case I don't need the jump to work. I added it to this project because most discs I make will need it and I wanted to test it out. So I'm OK for today on this project, but next week I'll be making more projects, some of which must have working end jumps.

Chapter Markers shift after build in Encore when using PP dynamic lnk

When I create a sequence complete with perfectly placed chapter markers in Premiere Pro CS6 and send it to Encore via the dynamic link everything appears fine (it even simulates perfectly) until I build a DVD in Encore. After the build in Encore most of the chapter markers have shifted and are no longer perfectly placed. It's as if Encore encodes the video without regard to the chapter marker information and then adds them onto the already encoded video where they have limitations on which GOP frames they can appear. Shouldn't Encore take the chapter markers into account while encoding the video? The way around this I found is to export the sequence from PP and then import the video into Encore. All is well if I do it this way but I like the advantages of dynamic link. Encore just doesn't seem to respect the chapter marker information. Am I missing something or is this just a flaw in Encore?

Yes my source clips codec is motion jpeg at 29.97fps.
If I just focus on the second chapter marker in my test sequence (given the automatic first chapter marker is at 0 sec.) it is at 1:01 in the timeline which is off the GOP boundary of 15 frames. When I build the timeline this marker moves 1 frame back to 1 sec., a GOP boundary. Doesn't sound like a big deal but that puts the marker into the previous clip on my time line which causes the automatic thumbnail in my menu to be wrong and there's a little flicker when you jump to this chapter on DVD playback as it plays this one odd frame.
I guess I am transcoding during the build (am I not supposed to?) but I have since tried your idea of trying "transcode now" before the build. It sounded promising. While looking at my second chapter marker in the timeline I clicked transcode now and watched the marker jump back 1 frame. Cool, but I'd rather it didn't do that.
You are right I don't need a menu to examine this. It's just that the thumbnails changing in my menu after a build were the firts indication to me that something was going wrong. Again if I import a file that's already transcoded to En this isn't an issue.
It just looks like En doesn't respect chapter marker locations through the dynamic link to Pr and it should. It rather transcodes first and then adds in the chapter markers as close as it can to their original locations. It's possible I am missing something in my workflow but it at least sounds like you understand what I am experiencing.
Can you try modifying your test by creating a couple of 1-sec clips in Pr sequence with a chapter marker between them (so your first one is at 1:01) and then see if the same thing happens to your first chapter marker?

Encore Chapter marks not imported into Encore CS5

I am using Encore dynamic link with Premiere CS5.5 and the timelines are showing up minus all my encore chapter markers. I have gone back to make sure thathat every marker has a chapter title and the "Encore Chapter" marker is set in the option for the marker menu. Oddly enough a much smaller project I did a while back worked fine. Any suggestions?

A quick look, and I'm not sure how this can go wrong, as long as:
You are DLing a sequence that has the Encore marker in it (not in a sequence that is nested).
You are CS5 (or 5.5 I assume; I have CS5) and you are clicking on the Encore marker to add. CS5 does not require you to add names; Encore will autogenerate names if they are missing.
If this is not working, create a new PR project, add a short clip to a sequence, add one Encore marker, DL to a new Encore project. Does it come in?

In the PBO Module which is called before the LOOP on Table control .
Give the code like this..
DESCRIBE TABLE ITAB.
if OK_CODE = 'ADD'.
TABCON-LINES = SY-TFILL + 1.
ELSE.
TABCON-LINES = SY-TFILL .
ENDIF.
This will give the Additional line always when you click the ADD(some) button.
