Encore 2.0 IS OUT!!!

Is you haven't seen it yet, Adobe has posted the latest versions of Encore, Premiere Pro, and Audition on this site. Check out the production bundle.

I'm not BJ, but I'll step up to answer this.
Chapter playlists allow you to compile chapters within a timeline in sequential order, or in different order, or omitting certain chapters, etc. but only using the media once (what's in the parent timeline). This allows multiple use of assets without adding to final disc size.
Chapter playlists are most useful when combined with chapter end actions. Using the two, you can for instance link a button to a chapter to play it alone and then return to a menu, and then link a play all button to a chapter playlist containing all the chapters to play them without interruption (by ignoring their end actions).
When you combine multiple clips in a timeline with the above two, these offer complex and economical navigation possibilities.
In the Flowchart panel, you can set all your project links as well as see your DVD in a hierarchical display.
Although Slideshows can be made in other applications, now you can also make them in Encore, with effects and transitions.
Here are a some other niceties:
Automated creation of chapter index menus (link a button to a timeline with chapters, then automatically generate a series of identical menus with links and inter-menu navigation completed based on the number of chapters in the timeline).
Ability to create and save menu templates, complete with video/audio backgrounds and properties saved with the template. These templates can be saved into the Library palette or to disc for later use, or exchanged with other users.
Ability to replace a menu with another menu, retaining the links and properties of the original menu.
Button transition support, allowing you to use an asset to play after clicking a button without manually adding any navigation from the transition to the targeted link.
Improved selection model in the Menu editor, allowing you to select the layers within multiple button layer sets simultaneously.
Sync Button Text & Name, so that button text matches chapter names.
Move and rotate tools for the Menu editor.
Miscellaneous menu performance enhancements.
Ability to set a main timeline (first VTS).
Execute end action when pressing Next button on the last chapter of a timeline.
Ability to create chapters on a timeline at a specified interval (e.g. add a chapter every
x seconds).
Ability to duplicate subtitle tracks. Also, several subtitle bugs have been squashed.
Dynamic link to After Effects compositions (DV Suite-only), allowing you to import AE comps, edit and update them in AE all in real time and without rendering. Combined with the Create After Effects Composition command, this offers very tight interop between the two applications, if you have the suite.
PPro engine used for video playback, instead of DirectShow.
Native QuickTime support (no more transcoding on import).
Support for "Optimize Stills" from PPro.
DTS support (pass-through only).
Improved Transcoding Presets dialog, with asset preview window.
Infinitely customizable workspaces, with overall shading control.
Bridge support, which allows you to add metadata to assets for organizing and searching in Bridge, along with custom Encore Bridge commands (Import into Encore as Asset, Timeline, Slideshow from within Bridge).
Numerous bug fixes.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure it's not a complete list.
Hope it helps,
Joe Bowden

  • Encore 2.0 Try out here

    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/encore/win/2.x/Adobe_Encore_2_0_Tryout.zip

I just downloaded the try out. It seems to have fixed a problem that I have with version 1, which I'm currently running ---- an error message when I try to preview motion menus. I know from doing a forum search at the time, other people had the same problem (on version 1.5 as well). It seemed to be related to the driver for the Matrox g550 graphics card (and using the latest one didn't fix it) Maybe ver. 2 will fix it for other people, so worth downloading the try out to see.
The installation does seem to have messed up Adobe Bridge ---- I now get an error saying it can't launch the Camera Raw module ---- but the video previews are really great!
    * Sorry if this should have gone in the Menus and buttons section --- hard to decide where was more relevant

  • Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync

    Hey,
So I'm trying to make a compiliation Blu-ray disc that has 3 seperate movies on it.  Each method I've tried as resulted in the audio being out of sync with the video.
I used dvd shrink to rip a dvd to include just the movie by itself.  I played that.  No out of sync audio issues.
I then used pgcdemux to demux the dvd files into seperate .m2v and .wav streams.  I played those, and again no audio sync issues.
I tried importing the seperate .m2v and .wav streams directly into Encore and it seemed to work until I created a timeline and when previewing the disc, the audio was out of sync.  So I went ahead and burned a copy to my blu-ray disc and sure enough the audio sync issues were on there too.
Then I went through adobe media encoder and tried to re-encode the .m2v file thinking it just wasn't done correctly the first time.  Still the audio is out of sync after importing to Encore.
I even demuxed the streams, then remuxed them together into an mpg file.  I played that without Encore and no audio issues.  But as soon as I import it and attach it to a timeline, and then preview it, audio is out of sync.
So I am completely lost here.  I don't quite know what else to do to get rid of the delay in audio.
    Suggestions?  Fixes?

Well it certainly has been a while!
So I finally got this to work.  It would seem that I spent so much time trying to rip and convert the dvd to their elementary source files: .m2v and .wav and since I was working with dvds, the files were quite large.
I actually loaded up a program called DVDFab and ripped each dvd into m2ts fomat.  Those files were, still, quite a few gigabytes a piece, as they are essentially rips of the dvds in a special blu-ray container format.
They loaded directly into Encore and I didnt even have to use Adobe Media Encoder before loading them.  And this time when I actually built my blu-ray, I received no errors.  So everything output fine.
    thanks for the help!

  • Burnning dual layer dvd Encore CS5.5 errors out.

Here is the greatest error I have ever seen.
I got to burn a dual layer dvd transcoded from AVCHD 1080i with fallowing settings.
Edited footage in PPro and send to Encore via Dynamic link, created dvd project using Mpeg2 with 9mbps, Dolby 192 for Audio.
File size to be burned on dvd is 5.67gb, aprox 1 hour 10 min transcoded with 9mbps, 720x40 wide screen, audio is 192kbps Dolby.
There are three menus one is main and tow sceen selection menus, noting fancy everything as default. menus linked as usual nothing fancy and and it is very basic.
All assets, that used for motion menus and main video is transcoded fine, but when it gets to put dvd together I get this error
Encore starts organizing videos for disk and after that it gets to this above and thats it. Press ok Build progress box gives fail message and option to Ok it. After pressing Ok button this box goes away to build panel.
I have tried to change an Automatic layer break to manual still get the same error, I have tried a custom layer break and still get the same error again, I have tried dvd, and an image, and folder for dvd, still the same error there to. I have redone project from scratch and still got the same result.
However previously I have burned many Dual layer dvds using the same method described, and same settings described, and never had this problem.
Nothing on the PS was changed except the updates installed regularly.
Anybody have any Idea what is this all about? Because I just burned 16 Blu Ray discs, and 16 Dual layer discs on one of the project, and next one a day latter this happens.

I'm having the same problem. not once did it, the encore was automatically break in the case of dual layer dvd. now he does not. I mark the box DUAL LAYER 8.54gb, do DVD disc or image or folder, or change the marking of the layer break from automatic tomanual, and it does not. in the end he always gives the message: duallayer requerid.
wanted to know how to do this manually break, because even in the manual or here on the website of adobe, has no suchinformation. does not show clearly how to manually break. please if someone can give a help, thank you.

  • Installing Encore (current info is out of date)

The current info on how to install Adobe Encore CS6 to function with the CC suite is here: http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/kb/encore-cs6-installed-cc.html
    It is outdated.
The "More Information" button doesn't exist.
Also, I found the Premiere Pro CC page, and was able to select "CS6" in the versions pull-down menu, but when I hit the download button, it starts to download CreativeCloudSet-Up.exe which I already have installed on my system, not Premiere CS6.  It prompts me to install Premiere from the manager...
    Help!

    Hi Arnonshorr,
You can download CS6 Premiere Pro from the creative cloud installer.
However if you are facing an issue. Please download CS 6 Premiere Pro directly.

  • Video's audio out of Sync once imported to Encore CS6

    Hello Everyone,
I'm having some issues with Encore CS6 on my iMac running  OS X 10.9.5.
I'm trying to burn some video that i've captured off of VHS using Elgato Video Capture. It outouts the files as .mp4
The videos play fine outside, but as soon as I import them into Encore the audio becomes out of sync. I've burned many VHS to DVD's and for some reason the problem seems to be recent.  There out of sync in the timeline, preview, and once burned.
I even tried using Adobe media encoder to convert the .mp4 to MPEG-2 outside of Encore and the audio was still out of sync. I even tried cutting a bit of the audio off at the front because it seem to be just a little slower, and it worked for the first 5 minutes then it became un-synced again.
Does anyone have any idea's as to whats going on? Or has experienced this problem?
    Thanks,
    Angela

    Hi Stan,
Unfortunately it wouldn't let me selected the tree view. I did find a text view that has way more information. As for the length of the Audio and Video lengths there both 1h 23mn.
And below is for the MPEG-2
    Thanks for all your help!

  • Adobe encore 2 out of memory

Hi i am running 3/4 gig of ram adobe encore 2 comes up out of ram after 140 menus (i am making a catalouge of pics and text)
    Can any one help me?
    Kellie

    Kellie,
I'm surprised that you got that far. IIRC, Encore is limited to 99 Menus. Might want to try: http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/comparison.html
It seems that it can get around that limit.
I'm also surprised by the lack of system RAM. I think I have had 1.5GB min. for the last eight years.
    Good luck,

  • A new Encore user's experience.

Being as this is a louge this might be a place to share.
First, I am not a pro, but I have been using Premiere since 4.2 to produce simple teaching videos and over time have gotten to where I have done more fun stuff and even a couple of events, for money even.  Until recently I created my DVDs using Sony DVD Architech.
So all week I've been editing video from a race held near here recently (motorsports, 24 Hours of LeMons) where I attended with a team with the idea of getting photos and video and putting together something the team and friends would enjoy.  I got some good in-car video, and some not so good, but that's another matter.
For this project I decided to finally try using Encore to create the DVD.  The Sony software didn't do Blu-Ray and I wanted to try that, too.  So I start up Encore and when it finally loaded I started a project in the usual Adobe style then was presented with a screen I simply could not figure out.  I poked around trying to figure out what the basic procedure was and found the "import" function, tried to import and mgep file, and I got my first blue screen ever on this system.
Rebooted, and restarted Encore, I explored more on my own.  I can usually figure out these things on my own.  I explored the menus and buttons, and figured out that an asset was probably anything I wanted to put on the DVD.  Other than that I was pretty much stuck.  I imported another mpeg file and that worked, but I finally gave up and decided to try "Help".  That took me to the Adobe site, and that to the Lynda tutorials, which were just what I needed.  I went through them one-by-one and they answered most of my questions.  They were excellent.  Quick, clear, and just the right amount of detail for a tutorial.  Adobe did good with that one.
With Lynda's help I was off and running.  I figured out how to create menu templates by examining the ones that came with Encore and I figured out how to change the order and other settings for each button.  Everything was going smoothly now.  I had a project that had a menu and three videos.  The preview feature was also working great.  But, the highlight I used for my buttons is a green dot that has an inner shadow.  In preview I only get a green dot.  No shadow.  Later on the DVD itself, same thing.  I later learend by reading in these forums that that is the fault of the DVD player.
I still had room for one more button, and I still had lots of photos I had not used, so I tried the slide show feature.  It looked like it would a good job just showing photos, and for this project I thought it would be a nice little extra.  I know that some people here consider it to be a comsumer gimick and just seeing it in Encore made me think the same thing, as if Adobe wanted to be able to match the features of (much) lesser DVD authoring programs.  No matter.  I'd also learn, by experience that this feature still needs a little work.  Again, I am not a pro, so if I notice something that needs fixing it must really scream out at you guys and gals.
It was pretty easy to import my photos and add them to the slide show, but I soon learned that 99 photos is the max for a slide show.  I suppose that is OK.  Next, I learned that the shortest time I could display a slide is about 1.2 seconds.  I was hpoing to be able to run through some of my photos quickly to simuate a stop-action sequence for those times when I just held the shutter release button and snapped away at the action, such as a car spinning off into the dirt.  It could be that this limit is due to the cross-fade transitions I had set as the slide show's default transition.  I'll try it again later without transitions to see what happens.
Adding and removing slides turned out to be a real pain.  When addidng slides in mass I'd get an error saying there was something wrong with a slide.  I forget what the other errors were, but I got a lot of them.  They were probably related to the number of slides I was placing in the timeline, over 99 total.  But besides the errors, Encore really slowed down.  It took maybe 10-15 minutes for it to get back to normal, or just about how long it took me to give up and go off and fold laundry.  So then I tried to delete some slides and that took for ever, especially if the slide was near the beginning of the show.  I figure Encode must be reprocessing the whole show somehwow.  But after these problems something seemd to be wrong with Encore.  It was slow when doing anything.  I closed it and started it up again.  It was all better again.
In previews the slide show looked good, but I realized that I needed to resize the photos.  I did this in Photoshop for a handful then came back to Encore, expecting it to update itself, seeing as assets like these are external to the Encore project itself, but that didn't happen.  If I edited a video and came back to Premiere it would re-import the video.  Apparently this doesn't happen in the slide show.  I deleted the slide show and started again.  At least it is easy to set up new slide shows, except as noted above.
The do-over worked.  The slide show looked good.
I burned a DVD and the results were excellent, except for, again, the slide show.  The show ran OK, but at the end of each transition there was a little flicker, more like a contrast glitch.  Annoying, and it has to be fixed or else the slide show feature will be useless, even for me, except for personal use.
Other than that, all was good.  I edited video and Encore reimported it and the burn was successful and it looked great, well, on my analog TV.  I still don't have digital as I canceld cable and quit watching TV nearly 2 years ago.  But it was working, minor changes were easily handled, etc.
I then tried the Flash feature, and it worked well, except that the video frame is not centered (too far to the right).  The HTML code was simple enough.  The video plays in a table whose width is 99% of the screen the cell justification is centered.  I'm sure I could deal with that in my own pages.  But, a bigger problem, again involving the slide show.  The VCR controls would pop up at the start, or end, of each slide, and then would disappear again on its own.  Again, the slide show is a nice feature but I can't use it if the controls are going to be going up and down throughout the show.
I also exported an image and will be trying that out later.  Being able to create an image for the DVD is nice.  It means I won't have to use Encode for future burns, and I might have trouble keeping up with the 80 GB of files I have in this project.
    Mike

    Thanks for reporting.
I'm one of those folk, who shies away from SlideShow in En, choosing to do that in PrPro and then Exporting a DV-AVI.
Though this is not a "technical" forum, I'll risk Jeff & Neil's wrath and throw out one comment. If your still images were not resized to your Project's Frame Size, say 720 x 480, PAR = 1.22 (for NTSC 16:9 in this example), you are asking the program to downsize all of your 99 stills. That WILL slow things to a crawl. Also, I feel that resizing in Photoshop, rather than En, or PrPro, will give you better results. This is a time, where bigger is not better. If you redo, or do a similar Project, explore resizing the stills in PS first, and then Importing those. This ARTICLE might give you some tips on automating the resizing, prior to Import.
OK, enough of that technical drivel. Thanks again for sharing!

  • Fix for Encore 2 microphone's warp sound and volume issue

I had just recently purchased an Encore 2 and found out everything works crisp and great except the microphone sound quality when recording a video. How I could solve this hard to fix problem.
I came up with solution and works great. Total notice imporvement and found out driver adjustment problem like I speculated due to PC pcb solid state build in terms of on board hardware usually-not sure but probable.
    1. Make sure to utilize Toshiba Service Station and updated the new bios, intel installer, Realtek audio, wireless, and mirroring.
2, After the Realtek audio install you should get a icon on start programs list or on your desktop.
    3. There click and up comes Realtek Audio Manager.. There go to advance and bring up Windows sound manager I think on a button below rest.
    4. Here got to l think last tab and click on radio Do nothing instead of like 80% noise supression and click ok.
    5. On the Realtek Audio Manager adjust microphone volume from 17 to 90 and boost to 0.
    6. Next on the Manager click on voice button and set it to disable all.
    7. This should give you a well adjust computer mic on regular PC level video and sound recording. It's pretty good. Adjust mic volume for background noise just like a desktop.
Mainly I speculate since Encore 2 is full Windows 8.1 tablet that it share approximately same requirements as laptop pc in function and has a PC mic processor rounting and connections instead of like a smartphones systems. You have to treat the mic as a laptop PC mic funtions and tune accordingly. Videos are now perfect seems like unless something comes up.
    Need help ask for completion.

i found a? way to reduce to a large extend the noise if i touch the computer case.
but still there's echoing in ts and steam.

  • Out of Memory error sure looks familiar!

I have a 1:42:00 video in AVI form (captred in PP2 and then output as a movie). I opened it up in Encore 2, made a timeline, it played find so then I started chugging away at transcoding the 19 gig file into a 2 hr mode DVD. About halfway through the transcoding, I got the old familiar erorr from Encore saying it was out of memory.
The whole idea of transcoding the AVI was so Encore could see up front what it had to work with and automatically pick the compression that would allow it to fit on a 4.7 gig disk.
It seems to say that as it was telling me in the build box that it would be writing to 4.7 gigs or I'm assuming it was saying it would fill all the space it had available and would compress accordingly.
Well, we had these same errors often in the old software and I'm sorry to seem them again. Does anyone know a workaround for this?
My system is an "approved" HP W-8200 with Dual P4 3.6 Xeons and 4 gigs of ram writing to a 1 terabyte sata raid 5. I don't think my machine ran out of memory.

Try  eliminating the <include logicalentitytype =  "OrganizationalUnit".../> from the extract class. If you haven't  changed any information about the OU, you shouldn't need it; the  <reference .../> takes care of the relationship between  the person and his/her OUs.
Some of the default extract classes  seem to err on the side of being too inclusive. This looks like one of  them. See, for another example, the classes given for groups, which has  the same type of issue: compare c

  • In the audio encore cs6 desface in parts when you picture or dvd

    Good morning
I have a problem with desface followed by the use of audio in encore edit in premiere cs6 cs6 all too well what happened to encore review what is good and to create the image on encore cs6 outdated audio out and let me know inwhichthe is the error or devo do

DVDs are LOW resolution by today's standards - only about 0.3 megapixels - so there is no way they your images on a TV set will look "High Definition".  See Preparing images for iDVD slideshows at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6675.html for recommendations on image sizes to use.  Using larger images won't give you better  quality, andf in some cases, will lower you image quality because  the Quicktime resizing that occurs isn't the best.

  • When exporting separate audio and video streams, the audio drifts out of sync

So this is my first slightly larger project in Final Cut Pro X.
When I export my finished project (around 12 minutes long) straight to quicktime, it plays back perfectly.
When I export using compressor, the resulting audio and video streams are two different lengths. The audio comes out a full second longer. If you try to lay them down in a program like Adobe Encore, the audio starts out perfectly in sync. Two minutes in you notice the video is slightly out of sync with the audio. By the end of the video it's comically bad, over a second out of sync.
What's even more vexing is if I try to take the quicktime file that IS in sync upon playback, and try to convert it burn that to a dvd or blu-ray using toast, the problem re-emerges.
I triec searching around, but most of the suggestions that came up were vauge, like, "Upgrade to a real program like Final Cut." (This was in reply to people who were using free software programs.)
I did see one idea surface where 44 and 48 kHz sampling rates don't play well together. So I combed through my project and found all the 44.1 songs that were used, and swapped them out with upsampled versions. Nothing changed. It didn't sound like it would fix it, as people usually said it was a specific amount of frames off, not something drifting out of sync.
So the question is, does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this? Thanks! :-)

Project settings can be accessed and changed by selecting the project and pressing command-J. Then, in the inspector, click on the little gear in the lower-right hand corner to access the settings.
Why are you trying to output video/audio separately? If the content plays in-sync when exporting a quicktime movie (using current project settings), you could try separating the video/audio using MPEG Streamclip as a second step instead of using compressor. For audio, don't change the sample rate from the project settings, and use uncompressed audio (AIFF) as the output format.

  • Rate Stretch audio goes out of sync when exported.

Audio, which is rate stretched using the rate stretch tool to 100.01%, plays fine in Premiere Pro CS6. However, when exported to Encore or to MPEG-2 file, the audio is no longer stretched and becomes out of sync by the end of the video. When I play the preview in Encore, the audio is out of sync. Switch back to Premiere, it is OK. Export a MPEG-2 file and author a DVD, the audio is out of sync. Go back to Premiere, it is OK. I record the audio using a TASCAM portable recorder. I have recorded and synched audio many times and this is the first time that it does not work, on two separate Premiere projects. Any ideas on how to fix this. Even better, is there a way to record audio so that it matches the video (from a Panasonic HD AVCHD camcorder) without requiring rate stretch adjustment?

Try changing the speed with right click, Speed/Duration instead of using the Rate Stretch tool.

  • When does Adobe Encore CS3 support DTS-HD audio

When does Adobe Encore CS3 support DTS-HD audio?
Today I have tried to make a Blu-ray disc project with a 5.1 DTS-HD (192 kHz)audio track, but the DTS-HD audio track was much longer in the timeline than the videotrack! while the DTS-HD was encoded properly and was excactly the same length then the videotrack,
I think DTS-HD is still not supported by Adobe CS3....when will there be an update to solve this?

    Okay - bug confirmed here.
DTS-HD MAS is not being correctly parsed by CS3.
I tried this using a 24-48 5.1 DTS-HD MAS file, and a file lasting around 20 minutes came in at over 4 hours in CS3.
Admittedly, I used the Blu Ray + HD DVD Primary profile.
So, I tried again using a 4.18 duration 5.1 mix at 24/48 resolution, using the pure Blu Ray profile.
When imported into Encore CS3, this came out at an apparent 1 hour 6 min file. Clearly, something is wrong here.
Further - it would appear that despite it being possible to import the stream, DTS-HD is simply not supported at all - you have to enable the "All Files" option to get the import dialogue to even see the file.
Yet again, we see Audio as the poor relation in a video suite.
    Maarten
Best file a feature request for DTS-HD support.
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Same form should also be used for the Bug Report.
If enough people ask for this, it may get implemented - and as Adobe are concentrating on Flash & Blu Ray these days, you may even get lucky.

  • Settings from Premiere to Encore?

    Hi everyone,
I just burned a DVD using the link from Premiere to Encore and it came out looking like crap. I have burned DVD's before and they never looked like this. It's alos taking a really long time to burn a half hour DVD. What are the settings you guys are using to make it look good? I know that going from HD video to SD on a DVD will give me some loss, but its never been this bad.
Here is what I am working with:
    Source Format:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 2.6 GB
    Image Size: 1440 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.3333
    Sequence Settings:
    Editing Mode: HDV 1080p
    Timebase: 29.97
    Frame Size: 1440x1080
Pixel Aspect: HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333)
    Video Previews:
Preview File Format: I-Frame Only MPEG
    Codec: MPEG I-Frame
    Width 1440
    Height 1080
Max Bit Depth and Max Render Quality

I was in a hurry; did not realize it was YOU! Too funny... (Sorry about that!)
I'm sure Jeff will join us here.
Your sequence setting is still 1080p; did he not recommend 1080i?
What is your latest export setting?
The burn time is not based on the duration of the video, but how full the disk is and the burn speed.
