Encore button help

hi i am make a dvd project and am using my own button i did it right at least i think and i cant seem to get video to apear when i preview. i cant get the option of rendering the project it is grayed out. the option for animate buttons is checked. my video files are in the right format. what format does the button have to be psd, gif or what.

Menu and buttons are all in one layered psd file.

When i make a dvd menu i usually use a ready made button from the libary and remodel it in Photoshop.

I am having an issue with Encore Buttons which I have been trying to sort out for the past few days but not having any luck. When I add the button in photoshop PSD layer it looks fine but when I import it onto Encore and preview it it keeps the shape of the button but it greys it out loosing all the detail so just a solid colour.
I have tried to add one manually by importing a PSD of an image into the Enore Library, dragging it into the menu and then I have converted it to a button. This works in the norma edit screen but when i RUN THE "PREVIEW FROM HERE" it removes the detail. (also it is always visible doing it this way and I want it to be hidden so it works like a DVD menu)
Pleae help... im drowning....

Yes, you cannot reinvent the DVD specs or naming conventions.
Bottom line, subpictures (the =1 through =3, but all =1 is fine) are 2 bit color, and the colors are really set by Encore in the color sets - although it uses an auto setting to set from PS. The images you are using are all translated.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Need help with encore buttons - highlights

Hi All
I am seeking help with Encode CS5. I have a project working fine except that I dont have highlights for buttons, at least I think thats what its called. So when the mouse or remote control navigates up/down toa button it changes colour.
In the properties of my button, the highlight option is greyed out.
How do I apply highlights ?

First time I have inserted images, and they seem a little small on this message - if you have any problems reading I could email to you.
I have highlighted the first button - which is called 'Highlights' - same issue with all the other buttons.
Do you have to use photoshop to add highlighting? or can you do this in encore - i dont have much experience with photoshop.
Not sure how to check 'Color Set' ? can you tell me how to get that for you - same for transparency for states? - I havent experienced them or changed them as I dont know how to

Please help me make Encore button layers in Photoshop

I modified a library menu from Encore in CS4 but my button layers are off kilter so that the selected and activate layers just look like jumbled text. I made my buttons from text of the material they link too, so the layer two and three text looks offset and murky. I'd like to have the actual text change color for the select and activate layer. I envision a color scheme from the US flag. Normal state is red, selected blue and activate white. I can't figure out how to do this. One thought I had was that perhaps the text needs to be changed to a smart object and then it can be set up. But the color palette in Encore is confusing to me. Anyone able to provide me an instruction list to do this?

I have navigated to your article (web page I saw did not have the images) and already attempted to create my menu following the isntructons. I backed off because I have a bigger edit issue. I have a sequence with a decode mpeg error with video drop out and loss of sync that I have now asked a question for on the Premiere forum. This is not a screen shot of my layers with your transparencies but the one that corresponds my menu above.
It differs from the menu of my prior project referenced above in that my text layer is at 100% opacity as you can see.
My prior menu with effects on the text layer has about 73% opacity and 40% opacity in the fill. You can see how it works from the normal to the selected state.
When I imported my Cuba menu into Encore and viewed the selected and activated states the whole thing became a mess. I think my solution to make a simple change in the states as I did in the first menu is to open the color dialog in Encore and select the best color to make a workable change as to a good blue as I can get. I'll do some color research to see if that can even work.
I wish i could see the images of how your transparency process came out. I may run out of time to use it here because I have to solve the sync problem and get this overdue project delivered, but I will try it later.

Encore CS3 help - please

I have been told by an Adobe tech support agent that I can use Encore to provide a solution to the problem I have re getting the flash animation on my website to "Play Once" and NOT LOOP. I also need it to display the last frame as a still image if this can be done in any program known to mankind. It appears that this task may be to "simple" for such a capable program as Encore. Noe of the ceap little flash editors had any idea how to do this either. Can anyone tel me how this can be done? I have had no luck with Encore so far. Any help is appreciated. Thanks - ssea

I don't understand why you can't get this to work using Flash. Have you asked in the Flash forum?
CS3 is very limited on what you can do to customize player controls. So that's a big trade off.
Yes, you can have a first play that is the animation, then have it come to a "menu" that would be a still image, no DVD style menu buttons - but you'd still see the player controls.
Also, the animation would have to be DVD spec (i.e. TV pixel size). I'm not sure what effect you would get if you use html to reduce the playback size.
Anyway, I vote for Flash unless there is something I am missing.

Encore, Buttons, and After Effects

I am trying to use After Effects to create a button - I watched Lynda.com and I think I know how to create the button in After Effects, BUT when I import via Dynamic Link the Composition and the button into Encore, Encore does not recognize the botton I have created as a button, therefore, I have no way to link my video to the button. Any help would be appreciated - thanks!

I was able to answer my own question - you need to import the project into Photoshop. You can create buttons there. Here is the only really good tutorial I found and this one is great - http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/dvd_authoring/ - the one thing I have discovered is that there are several different ways to accomplish the same thing when you are authoring DVD's.

Encore Button Fade

So,
I have created a menu system in Encore, the layout is thus;
Intro movie of graveyard, zooms in on tombstone (first play)
First Menu - Is a motion menu of the zoomed tombstone (basically a time remapped .mov with rain etc) in encore i have created a menu and used the motion pickwhip to link the .mov as the motion menu.
In Encore i have created the buttons but, they just appear after the first play, so a seamless movement, however, i cant get my head around how to make the buttons fade up in the first few seconds of the motion menu.
I understand that this can be done in after effects but its just confusing, i have tried dynamic link and doesnt work.
I have created a new ae comp from encore using the menu however, although the buttons etc all apear in seperate layers the motion menu background is now a still.
All i want is for the buttons to fade in during the first few seconds of the first motion menu but they just appear.

I will usually do this in PrPro (on my Motion Background), so while the "button" is fading (or animating) in, it is not yet a real Button, but just a graphic. I keep this transition short, so that the user is not likely to be clicking on what is starting to appear as a Button, but is not yet.

How do I match encore buttons with my remote control

So, I've made a menu in Encore and when I build the DVD and put it in my DVD player, the buttons don't work how I want them to with my remote control. For example, on the main menu (which I created in After Effects) I have two buttons (one above the other) - "Play" and "Chapters." To go from Play to Chapters on the main menu, I have to push the right arrow button on the remote instead of the down button.
Another example is my chapters menu (created with an Encore menu). I have 6 chapters buttons, plus a "next" and "main menu" button. The logical thing to do with the remote is press the down button when you want the one below, right when you want the button on the right etc. etc. but instead it's all mixed up.
Hopefully that makes sense . . . so how to I tell encore which button on the remote I want to be pressed to go to the desired button on the menu?

It is called "button routing." When the buttons are nicely lined up, "automatic" (the default) usually works well. But sometimes not. Also, if you move buttons around, you can change the numbering.
In the menu viewer, click on the icon for "routing." This will show you what "number" each button is, and what number button each remote arrow click will go to.
You can turn automatic routing off, and drag these numbers to set the remote as you wish.

Simple button help needed!

I want to make a simple round button that glows when you
mouse over it and depresses when you click it.
Apparently to do this I need to use Filters to make the glow
and bevels. But Filtersonly work on movie clips, buttons and text.
So I make a circle and convert it into a button symbol
(Btn1). Then I make another button symbol (Btn2) and use the first
button symbol (Btn 1) on the Up Over and Down frames of Btn 2.
Assorted Filters are applied to Btn 1 on the Up Over and Down
frames to get the effects I want.
I test the button (Btn2) using Enable Simple Buttons. It
works perfectly - glows on mouse over and depresses on click. Then
I try Test Movie -- and the button doesn't work!!!
Not does it work when exported as a SWF file!!!
I watched a tutorial video that came with my Flash Pro 8
Hands-On-Training (HOT) book and he used pretty much the same
technique -- except he only tested his button with Enable Simple
Buttons. I'll bet my house his didn't work with Test Movie either!
The stupid thing, is I was just able to achieve exactly what
I wanted very quickly using LiveMotion 2!
What is wrong here? Why is it so impossible to create a glow
button in Flash? Why has it been easy in Live Motion for years?

I thought the nesting button situation might be the problem
BUT there is no other way to apply Filters to Up, Down, etc. Also,
a freaking tutorial book described that as a valid method, but
obviously it ain't.
I tried using movieclips as well but basically had the same
problem.
I mentioned LiveMotion 2 because that ancient program can do
easily what Flash Pro 8 seems incapable of.
What is the logic behind not allowing Filters to be applied
to simple graphics? It's absurd!
There's got to be a way...

Simple Button Help

Hi
I am new to flash and having a bit of trouble. All I would
like to do is be able to create a button and have that button
navigate to a frame.
What I am doing now is:
Insert - New Symbol - Button and name the button (ex: about)
Go through the up/over/down/hit steps and return to scene 1
I then drag the about button onto the stage
I give the about button the instance name of about_btn
In the action layer, I enter the following code:

"about" being the keyframe I would like to go to
When I test the button, I get error 1120: "Access of
undefined property onrelease".

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen

My firefox toolbar disappeared and I can't do what the solutions say because I don't have a back arrow, file button, tool button, bookmark button, help button, or navagation bar, so how do I get my toolbar back?

How do I restore my firefox toolbar? It was my main toolbar. My other one is google. And then another site tried to install a toolbar that I did not want. When I unchecked to get rid of it, apparently I unchecked the firefox toolbar by accident. I don't know if that's what happened for sure, but I'm guessing that's what happened.

Button help with asp database in dreamweaver

Hey i have a page that has an iframe inside it with 2 menu's
side by side with buttons in between to move items from one menu to
another and i have them set with javascript to move back and forth
works great only problem is its also supposed to update to the
database as well and i used the update command feature in
dreamwaver and i set it up but its still not working if i post my
code can someone help me?
