Encore CS3 and Premiere and AE video messed up

I begin to create a DVD in Encore CS3, it was working fine for a couple days and then suddenly the video preview and build became all messed up - sporadic blocky frames in the video. I tried creating a new project from scratch and even Encore's library files preview this way now. I rebooted and no help. I reinstalled Encore and no help. I checked Premiere and AE and now they have the same problem. Playing video outside of Adobe CS3 works just fine.
Do I have to uninstall and reinstall the whole collection, or is there some simpler way to get rid of this problem? I have a screen shot of what the problem looks like.

  • Encore CS3 and Final Cut Pro

Is there any way to import chapter markers into Encore from FCP, or do I have to recreate them all from scratch in Encore?
I have a feature-length movie I added chapters to in Final Cut Pro. I then exported it as QuickTime with DVD Studio Pro chapter markers included, then transcoded it using Compressor.
Importing the resulting audio and video files into DSP results in the expected Chapters in the timeline, but bringing the assets into Encore does not. I also tried exporting the QuickTime movie from FCP with the "All Markers" option, but that didn't work either.
I want to give Encore a chance over DSP due to the better integration with Photoshop and AE CS3 for motion menus and menu animation... but I'm currently using a Final Cut Studio-based workflow, and there doesn't seem to be support for that in Encore. I don't even see any mention of Final Cut in the Encore manual.
Note that I'm using Encore CS3 on Windows. FCP... is of course on my Mac.

This looks promising. Too bad there's no standard exchange format for DVD Chapter Markers.

XML2Text (updated for XML version 2)
is a powerful tool to read FCP sequence XMLs, extract useful information and store this information in different formats or convert it.
    Some of the key features:
    * Get/review chapter Markers from Final Cut Pro Sequence Markers to create a chapter list for DVD Studio Pro or other encoders than Apple's Compressor.
    * Create a merged tape of selects or used clips.
    * Get Clip level Markers out of a Sequence and lift them to Sequence level markers
    * Print a list of Markers from the sequence, with time stamp (Timecode)
    * Extract the text from Markers to use to build menus in Adobe Photoshop
    * List all Clips with Scene, Shot, log note, comment etc in a simpler list than a batch export without needing the original Sequence

  • Encore  CS3 and Windows 7

Windows 7 advisor is telling me that it will be a minor issue to run Encore CS3 under the new platform. Does Adobe have any plans to address this issue?

Some users have had good luck with Win7. However, two recent builds seem to have broken much that is Adobe. Their systems ran fine, until one of the later builds. The next build did not fix things. Have not heard where Win7 is now. Hope that MS was able to fix, whatever broke things Adobe. That is what beta testing is all about, so long as beta testers report back to MS.
As for Adobe working on Win7, it will not happen until Adobe gets the full release of Win7. Right now, it's a moving target and is still in beta, regardless of what characters appear after the Win7 name.
I'd anticipate that CS5 will be certified for Win7, provided that it's out by the release of CS5.
Personally, I'd wait for Win7 SP1 and use whichever verson of Encore is approved for Win7, but then I have work to get out, and do not have time to beta test OS's.

  • CS3 and HD video

So I have built the computer to edit HD video, tested  premier pro CS3 on windows
using my SD camcorder to do some editing so I know its can work on windows7.
I  wanted to see how CS3  would work with HD video (avchd)  from a canon camcorder which is likely what I will purchase.
I called canon to see if they had any sample avchd files to download and test for editing, which they dont, but also told me
that CS3  does not support avchd, which I thought it did.
I dont want to spend the money to upgrade to CS4 after building the
computer and buying the camera if I can avoid it, tjhis is just a hobby.
They said to get a converter, voltaicHD  which when installed will act as a plugin for CS3 and allow the reading of avchd files converting them to MPEG-2 (yuc).
Has anyone used this and been able to produce good quality video with its use?

    Curt:
I built an I7 overclocked to 3.8Ghz with 12gig ram.
On the hardware forum this is seems to be what folks are using to edit HD.
CS3 can import *.m2t but not *.mts whats the difference?

  • PGC error when burning in Encore CS3 ... help

I've looked and can not find any one else with exactly this problem. I recently upgraded to Adobe Creative Suite 3 and can not get a DVD to burn. The project checks fine, the files transcode without difficulty but during the burning process, I very quickly get a PGC "file name" error.
I have a Sony Pentium 4, 2 GHz, with 1.21 G of RAM, and plenty (30 G) free on my hard drive. I have a 16X Memorex DVD burner which is probably 6 months old, but up until now has worked great. I've tried several different brands of DVD-R media and same problem.
I'd describe myself as an advanced amateur at video making. I taught myself on Nova's Video Explosion and burned 100's of dvd's on the Sonic's My DVD program over the past 5 years. Actually that system worked well, but I'd outgrown it. I downloaded Encore 2.0 free 30 day trial and loved it. I'd import (uncompressed) avi files that I'd created in other programs (mostly Video Explosion, but also Movie Shaker, and Windows Movie Maker), create menus in PS CS2 and my DVD's burned quickly and without errors at all. When my 30 days expired, I found they no longer offered 2.0 and I decided to spend the big bucks at got Creative Suite 3 really solely for Encore.
I've now spent 3 days trying all kinds of different things, many different files from different sources and I always get the same error message of "PGC "file name" has an error at "time" internal software error %0, line "file name:, time 00:"time", ref= BPGC.
I did read some messages on here about uncompressed avi vs. compressed avi. I did find that I was using uncompressed avi, but when I used Adobe premiere and rendered as MPEG 2 ( I believe), I got the same error. The only success (?) I had was when I rendered a file as a .MOV. It did burn without the dreaded error message, but the quality was extremely poor and jumpy.
Any ideas? I've got a project due in a couple of days and at present I've got files that I can't get to DVD...

So, finally I've found the source of the problem and a workaround!
    First the source:
when Encore has to transcode a video it must corrupt the file, because it's the transcoded file that causes the problem, I tried this by importing a transcoded file into Encore 1.5 there it came with the same error.
Now the workaround, ok maybe it isn't quite a workaround but it's a way to go:
What I did was: I built my project new in Encore 1.5, because Encore 2.0 has a problem importing the videos by me, but if you would just import the videos in 1.5 and let 1.5 transcode them so that all of them would fit on a DVD you should be able to import the transcoded files in CS3 and it should work, no guarantee.
Other possibility: try opening your project in encore 2.0 and re import your videos there and let 2.0 do all of the transcoding, that might work too!
But for certain: don't let encore CS3 do all the transcoding!
I'm working with PAL files I don't know if it will be the same by NTSC, but it's worth a try!
If anybody feels like reproducing the bug, here is the way to do it:
Make a project in Encore CS3 and import Videos encoded by premiere as MPG2-DVD (I think: .m2v .wav) and set the transcoding options to automatic, encore should have to transcode the files. Then let encore make the DVD, at some point you should get that nice PGC error!

  • Encore CS3 - Hangs and import problems with menus and avi footage with audio tracks present.

I'm trying to import some footage files in .avi format into Encore CS3 and am having several problems.
In what follows when I say "crash" I mean Encore quits with a standard Windows error. When I say "hang" I mean Encore does not quit but rather becomes an unresponsive process that must be killed manually using Windows Task Manager.
    My System:
    WinXP Pro SP2
2.93 GHz Intel Celeron CPU - single core
    Intel PERL mobo
    3GB 400MHz RAM
    NVidia 7800GS video
I mention these specs however I am not experiencing any hardware
related bugs or issues (like out of memory or video driver crashes
etc) when using any CS3 app.
The footage files (as reported by GSpot) and problems I am seeing. In all cases GSpot reports that I have the appropriate codec installed:
    footage1.avi - Dx50 XVid 1.0.3, Dolby AC3 48kHz 192kb/s, 716834 KB
Attempting to import as timeline causes Encore CS3 to hang.
Importing as an Asset allows it to import but when I try to click
on it in the project windown to add it to a new empty timeline,
Encore hangs. It plays fine in Windows Media Player.
    footage2.avi - Dx50 XVid 1.0.3, MPEG-1 Layer 3 48kHz 128kb/s, 718302 KB
Imports fine as either a timeline or asset but no audio track comes
with it, even though there is an audio track in the footage. It plays
fine in Windows Media Player. Video imports perfectly, just no audio.
    footage3.avi - Dx50 XVid 1.0.3, MPEG1-Layer3 48kHz 112kb/s, 717606 KB
Imports fine as either a timeline or asset but no audio track comes
with it, even though there is an audio track in the footage. It plays
fine in Windows Media Player. Video imports perfectly, just no
audio. I tried converting this one using AVS to both MPEG3 and DivX,
each using MPEG1-Layer3 44kHz 192kb/s audio, and got the same issue
upon importing into Encore CS3. I also loaded it into Camtasia
Studio and it looked fine over there. The audio was present and I
was able to export it as a .WAV file. When I tried looking at the
file in Soundbooth CS3, there was no audio track or, more
accurately, the audio track was a flat line.
By way of comparison these are importing perfectly:
    footage4.avi - XVID XviD 1.1.0 Beta2, MPEG1-Layer3 48kHz 189kb/s Two mono
    channels LAME3.96r, 717436 KB.
    footage5.avi - XVID XviD 1.1.0 Final, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s Six
    channels (3/2 .1), 716418 KB.
    footage6.avi - XVID XviD 1.1.0 Final, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s Six
    channels (3/2 .1), 716418 KB.
    footage7.avi - XVID XviD 1.0.3, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s 6 channels
    (3/2 .1), 717502 KB
    footage8.avi - XVID XviD 1.0.3, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s 6 channels
    (3/2 .1), 717180 KB
    footage9.avi - XVID XviD 1.1.2 Final, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s 6 channels
    (3/2 .1), 2291904 KB
Although this one imported & transcoded correctly, when I went to
build it to a DVD image file I got some strange errors during the
"planning video" stage that prevented the process from completing.
Unfortunately I neglected to write down the error message I recieved
which read like quite nonsensical babble to me, and I have since
deleted the project folder. I remember it was not a memory or
display related error and it included a timestamp where the error
was happening. I played the footage in the preview panel thru the
identified timestamp but it previewed perfectly without even a
jitter in either the video or audio. Took forever to transcode so I
doubt I'll be doing this one again anytime soon.
Another issue I am having is with the motion menus. I burned a DVD and it does not load correctly in one of my DVD players (a Sony rdr-gx330 recorder/player). It appears to take extra time to recognize the disk, the startup (first-play) menu does not show automatically, and I must press the Main Menu button on the

Another issue I am having is with the motion menus. I burned a DVD and it does not load correctly in one of my DVD players (a Sony rdr-gx330 recorder/player). It appears to take extra time to recognize the disk, the startup (first-play) menu does not show automatically, and I must press the Main Menu button on the remote control to make it appear. Other than that it seems to play ok in that player. Also tested it in 2 other DVD players (a Panasonic and Zenith) and it worked just fine like it's supposed to in them. Also plays perfectly in my computer's DVD player/burner using Windows Media Player v10. I tried burning to Memorex +RW single-layer single-sided disks at 6, 7, & 8Mbps project settings but got the exact same result every time.
Encore CS3 crashes fairly often during authoring, particularly during imports, and when I go to edit things like calling up a timeline in the timeline panel, dragging footage into an existing timeline, or changing button links in a menu etc.. I have also experienced seemingly random hangs even more often, probably 5 or 6 times as often as a crash. Saving the project after every little change I make, then closing and restarting Encore allows me to make progress albeit at a significantly reduced workflow rate. Accessing Photoshop from Encore appears to be working flawlessly so far aside from the slow load times. Encore hangs sometimes during video transcoding, repeat the process and it works ok. If I try to import a menu from the library after importing my footage files, Encore hangs trying to import it either at the 50% mark or the 99% mark (it varies even with the same exact menu selected from the library). If I import the menu first and the footage after, then no problems. Also trying to render motion menus after importing footage causes Encore to hang, render before footage import and everything works ok. Interestingly enough, previewing my project in Encore's monitor or preview panels works perfectly even in High quality mode -- in fact it operates quite smoothly in comparison to other apps I have tried. Although those footage files that had missing audio tracks on import obviously played silently, I have yet to experience a hang or crash during a preview or when scrubbing through a timeline in the monitor panel.
The last problem I've seen is with the project cache files. It doesn't always get rid of cache files when stuff is deleted from the project. I was working on one project and surprisingly ran out of disk space. When I tracked it down I found that there were some two dozen copies of a footage file I had repeatedly imported and deleted from the project still sitting in the cache folder. The file was an avi about 2GB so it was taking up some 40 GB of disk space for stuff that was no longer in the project. I tried shutting down Encore and manually deleting all the cache files, and that worked for most of them, but there was one 2GB file that kept reappearing in the cache folder even though it was no longer in the project. The XML file in the cache folder still had references to it in there so I can only assume that was the reason it kept showing up. I eventually had to delete and totally recreate the project from scratch to regain my lost disk space. This included having to sit thru a 6 hour long transcoding session which pissed me off to no end.
Encore CS3 appears on the surface to be a very powerful, feature rich, and approachable app with a simple easy to use interface, but it is awfully bugged in just about every area I have explored and still needs lots and lots of work for it to be really useful. Frankly for me it is pretty damn annoying that I have invested so much money in this suite only to find several of the apps in it (Encore & Premiere in particular) behaving this poorly. In my opinion every single app in the suite exhibits lousy performance whenever you must do anything at all involving the disk from the time you click to start it up until the time you click to close it down. Several of them are just as seriously bugged as Encore too, and being a long time Photoshop v5.5 user I expected much more from Adobe. Even Photoshop is two or three times as slow now (e.g. it takes about 20-30 seconds to simply create an empty 500x500 pixel image file and almost a full minute to load a 30x60 pixel single-layer gif). So far I have attempted to create 6 DVDs using Encore and after 3 weeks of effort have only succeeded in getting one of them onto a final disk -- and that one is kinda limping to work correctly in my DVD player. Three of those projects became so corrupted while working on them that I had to delete them completely and recreate them from scratch, only to find that I still couldn't get them to completion for one reason or another. Seriously disappointing.

  • Problems with CS3 and Leopard

Having a bit of a nightmare with Indesign and Photoshop CS3 since upgrading to Leopard. Running a Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 With 2GB DDR SDRAM. Anyone else having problems?

Below is the Adobe Marketing Line (copied verbatim). It's what I was told by Adobe Sales and what I read at Adobe.com, FAQ, before buying CS3 in October 07. Imagine my surprise when I discovered all of the issues with CS3 and Leopard, even after the update to Acrobat 8.1.2 Professional which promised full compatibility (see chart at bottom).
    Apple and Adobe... ARGH.
Oh yes, for all of the new suckers out there who are about to buy CS3 for their new Macs, the exact same FAQ is at Adobe.com, even now, Thursday, 12 Jun 2008.
ADOBE CREATIVE SUTIE 3 Frequently Asked Questions
Support for Mac OS X Leopard
    Q. Is Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5) important to Creative Suite 3 customers?
    A. Yes, Mac OS X Leopardthe latest version of Apples operating systemdelivers an elegant,
productive new computing experience for creative professionals. Adobe and Apple have been
collaborating closely for months to ensure that Adobe Creative Suite® 3 applications can run
smoothly and reliably on Mac OS X Leopard. We are proud to support this impressive new
operating system, and to ensure that our creative customers can take full advantage of the
performance and value of using Creative Suite 3 applications and Mac OS X Leopard on
    Intel-based and PowerPC Macs.
    Q. Are Adobe Creative Suite 3 applications compatible with Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5)? If
some are not fully compatible today, when will they be compatible?
    A. Thanks to close collaboration between Adobe and Apple, most of the CS3 applications and associated technologies, such as Adobe Bridge CS3, Version Cue CS3, and Device Central CS3, are compatible with Mac OS X Leopard without requiring additional updates. However, the following CS3 applications will require updates for full compatibility with Leopard: Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and our professional video applications, including Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, After Effects CS3 Professional, Encore CS3, and Soundbooth CS3. We expect to publish free Leopard compatibility updates for the video applications in December 2007 and for Acrobat 8 Professional and Adobe Reader 8 in January 2008. For a complete overview of compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard, see the chart on page 2 of this FAQ.
    Q. Will older versions of Adobe creative softwaresuch as Creative Suite 2 and
Macromedia Studio 8 softwaresupport Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. While older Adobe applications may install and run on Mac OS X Leopard, they were
designed, tested, and released to the public several years before this new operating system became available. You may, therefore, experience a variety of installation, stability, and reliability issues for which there is no resolution. Older versions of our creative software will not be updated to support Mac OS X Leopard. For a complete overview of compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard, see the chart on page 2.
    Q. Will Adobe continue to test CS3 applications on Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. Yes. Adobe sets high standards of quality, stability, and reliability for our professional creative
products, and we have worked closely with Apple to test Creative Suite 3 applications on both pre-release versions and the final shipping version of Mac OS X Leopard. While this testing showed that most CS3 applications perform well on Leopard (and that others run well but need updates for a few identified issues), we recognize that other issues may unexpectedly arise on any new operating system. We plan to continue testing and to monitor user experience closely to address any such issues. If you encounter any issues, please report them by going to www.adobe.com/misc/bugreport.html and clicking Report
A Bug. Please note that we dont respond to submissions, but we do review them closely with the appropriate CS3 product teams.
    Q. Which CS3 applications will need patches to be compatible with Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. The following table summarizes compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard. It notes which CS3 applications require updates for full Leopard compatibility and when Adobe expects to release those free updates.

  • Editing Menus in Encore CS3 with Photoshop 5.5

Realllllllly need someone's help on this. I'm new to Encore CS3, and bought it bundled with Premiere Pro CS3 which i really like. Now, i'm trying to use one of the pre-supplied menu templates in Encore, and tailor it to my specific video project by renaming the title and the buttons in the submenu for chapter selections. I read that all editing has to be done with Photoshop, and the only version of Photoshop that i have is 5.5. Will this work with Encore CS3? What is happening is that i am trying to get to the correct layer of the menu in Photoshop to change the text, and once i finish making the text changes, then i import the edited version back into Encore, but Encore then doesn't read the button choices when i try to link them to video. It's like the menu just died. So how in the world can i tailer the text on those supplied menu templates to my particular video? And does Photoshop 5.5 work with Encore CS3? I sure hope so, cuz i can't afford to buy more software! Thanks so much for whatever help anyone can give, i'm about ready to scream!

    Hi Jbowden,
Thank you so much for answering, very much appreciated. Yes, i'm aware that many changes have taken place in all the more recent versions of Photoshop, but i was hoping that the older one would still work, and it looks like it should. It does seem to work in layers, in trying to read the manual. But the real surprise is what you mentioned, about being able to edit menus right in Encore, because the Encore manual seemed to indicate that editing could be done only in Photoshop. That's great news! I just now tried looking ath the Concore manual again, but how in the world do i do that? Say edit a button on a submenu that says "Episode 1" to read "Monday"? Or Chapter 1 instead? Or now would i edit the main name in the "Sunset" menu from "Inspiration" to something else? For the life of me, i just can't figure out how to do that! Forget motion and stuff, i'm just hoping to achieve a regular menu that i can author a DVD with! I've been using DVD IT up to this point, and the whole concept of each program seems to be radically different. Thanks so much for all your help!

  • Problem with ripped MPEGs in Encore CS3

A friend had created a DVD (with either Windows Movie Maker or Nero; not sure which), but I wanted to redo the menu (his was really lame). His software created four .VOB chunks of the 50-minute video.
I ripped these chunks, renamed them as .mpg, and imported them into Encore 1.5 (which I had at the time) as four separate timelines. All four chunks imported OK, but I had to transcode the last three before placing them on timelines. I created a new menu, and burned a new DVD. However, playback on both my computer and my DVD player had noticeable pauses between each timeline chunk (my friend's original DVD does play back seamlessly). I tried both linked timelines through end actions and a playlist - same result.
I upgraded to Encore CS3 because it now can add more than one video file to a single timeline, thinking that would eliminate the pauses between the chunks and I'd get seamless playback. However, when importing the original .mpg chunks into Encore CS3, I get noticeable noise, in the form of green macroblocking in the first few frames of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chunks, which were NOT present in Encore 1.5. (I see the same noise when importing these chunks into Premier Pro CS3.) Also, Encore CS3 marks these last three video chunks as "Don't Transcode", but when I place them on the single timeline, there is no audio.
I've read through and understand the several Forum threads about the difficulty of working with ripped DVD files. I'm not trying to do any sort of editing on the video chunks. However, I tried some of the MPEG editors suggested in these threads to create a single .mpg file, but they have their own problems with this.
The original AVI file has been lost. I could recreate it from the source VHS tape, but have been trying to avoid that.
Anyone have any thoughts about this? If the behavior I described above in the two CS3 packages is a potential bug, I would be happy to submit a bug report to Adobe.
    Thanks

Sorry to say this really is not a bug.
The kind of thing that you're trying to do is something Encore was never intended to be capable of doing - it's that simple.
Renaming a VOB file to mpg is a workaround to try & force import of a format that is essentially designed to be on a completed, compiled DVD-Video disc. It is not the same as properly demiltiplexing the stream. A VOB file on a DVD is a Video OBject.
The way this works (structure wise) is like this:
    VTS_01_0.VOB = the menus for VTS 1
    VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, & VTS_01_4.VOB are all separate parts of the same timeline - VTS 1.
They are split into 4 because the timeline after encoding will have between between 3 & 4Gb in size. The way DVD-Video gets compiled will take a single encoding of 3.5Gb and break it into seamless chunks of 1 or less Gb each.
These VOB files contain everything - including any subtitles.
They are not designed to be edited.
The safest way to get seamless use - assuming that you absolutely must rework files - is to jouin all the 4 VOB files together using a simple command line instruction.
    (copy /b VTS_01_1.VOB+VTS_01_2.VOB VTS_ALL.VOB)
The /b switch is for a binary copy, and although I am uncertain if this is absolutely required or not, it is how we join up the 2 .DAT files when restoring DLT tape content to DVD-R DL discs)
Renaming this to a .mpg file may give you the seamless playback you are looking for.

  • Encore CS3 - Out of Memory & C++ Runtime Error

I'm running Encore CS3 and I encounter several problems with a recent project that have made Encore practically useless.
When I try to preview the project, play a timeline or preview a menu I get this error. Out of Memory - Please Save and exit immediately to avoid data loss. I also get the c++ runtime error sometimes while trying the same actions.
I've also had Encore hang while trying to import .m2v files, although this appears to happen randomly. Clearing the media cache seams to fix it, sometimes.
All video was compressed with Cinemacraft Encoder 2.70.02.12 and all audio was normalized with Adobe Audition CS3.
I've read through the forms and tried deleting the media cache in the registry and re-installed Encore once. Nothing appears to work, I'm about ready to ditch Encore and go with another authoring program.
    Please help.
    My Specs
    Windows XP X64 (Current Updates)
    Dual Opteron 275
    Tyan Thunder K8SE
    4 GB ECC/Reg RAM (Corsair DDR400)
1x 74 GB Raptor for OS

    2x 500 GB For project/storage
    Quadro FX 3400
    Sound Blaster Audigy
    Pioneer 112D
    Sony CRX320E

Why would XP64 be the problem if its worked fine for over 30 projects?
I also tried loading the project on one of our 32bit XP workstations with Encore CS3 and had all the same problems.
At this point the problem appears to be a bug with Encore, because after starting over from scratch I got the project to work fine.
It also appears that if you copy/paste anything it will corrupt your project somehow.
So, the bottom line its this, XP64 is not the problem.

  • Encore CS3 missing Library Files

I have installed Encore CS3 and also purchased the Adobe Master CS3 DVD 30 day try out. On three different PCs. Running Windows Pro, tried different user types, MSconfig to turn off program when installing, you name it.... When I run Encore and look for any Library file nothing is there.. just a General Tab and no files. I called Adobe after 45 minutes, 5 different contact people I was told to do a reinstall (duh!).. I did that same problem.
Can anyone tell me how to get Encore CS3 to install the Library content files or where to locate these to install.

Neither does the full version. I purchased the full version this week and NO LIBRARIES
I upgraded (at least I thought I was upgrading) Premiere and Encore this week. I am close to asking for a refund since I have had nothing but issues with both.
My problem right now is the libraries for Encore CS3. You know the templates for menus and buttons etc. Some people call that content but the useless people in India call the manuals content so I am trying to be clearer.
I bought the downloaded version so please do not tell me they are on disk #3. I download 5 files and installed them. Some of them I re-downloaded and I installed twice. They are.
    - ADBEPPROCS3_ALP.exe (Premiere Pro CS3)
    - ADBEAENCC3_ALP.exe (Encore CS3)
    - PPROCS3_Cont_ALP.EXE (Premiere Pro Content/manuals)
    - AENCCS3_Cont_ALP.exe (Content/manual installer for Encore CS3 manual)
    - AENCCS3_Cont_ALP.7z (3 gig file of foreign language manuals)
I am running on an HP M8040N with Vista Ultimate (32) I of course search the Adobe site and Google and I have seen other people with the same problem. After spending 1 hour with "Tech Support" in India I was told I needed to call Adobe Tech Support Monday thru...you get the idea.
WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR...the pre made Templates, Menus, Buttons, etc. that came with the disk version of Encore.
Can anyone help or am I effed for the week-end and most likely beyond?

  • Encore CS3 subtitles won't default to "off"

I'm using Encore CS3, and have a couple of subtitle tracks, but want the default to be "subtitle off" and despite my setting the disk build properties to "Subtitle: Off", the disk, when created (and even in the Encore preview windows), the subtitle always defaults to playing the first subtitle track.  I don't want the viewers to have to turn off the subtitles every time they view the DVD.  The "Play" button for the program on the main menu is set to "Subtitle: No Change". So, unless I go and turn the subtitles on, the DVD should theoretically play with subtitles OFF, right?
Now, I can force the "Play" link to play the track with subtitles off, but then that prevents the viewers from turning the subtitles on via the subtitles menu (which throws back to the "Play" link, which would then turn the subtitles back OFF when it's hit.)
I suppose I could create a separate identical copy of the main menu, the "First Play" one with the subtitles forced "off," and then one that the subtitle selection menu can throw back to, that is set at "No Change", but that all seems kind of unnecessarily circuitous.
So far the only other "workaround" I can think of is to make the first subtitle track a blank track, and then put the "real" subtitles on tracks 2 & 3.  But that seems like kind of a cheap workaround.
    Anyone have any insights?  Thanks!

    Hello.
You don't actually mention if this problem occurs in preview or in a real player.
If in preview - what happens on a real disc?
if on a real player, is the player perhaps set to have a default subtitle language? I ran across this on a recent project & had to force subtitles to default off on the disc, as the player insisted on displaying subtitles because it's firmware had set it's language as "English".

  • Newbie Question-Encore CS3

I just recently purchased Adobe Encore CS3
    and a DVD duplicator.
    I have a question,
When I am ready to build my DVD project.
I go to BUILD Menu and
at the bottom they have this
    COPY PROTECTION
CGMS if I select-NO COPIES ARE ALLOWED
does this mean I can not use my
    duplicator, will it prevent it
    from copying my master copy?
What I am trying to do is just burn one
Master DVD and put this DVD at my duplicator
so then it will just copy and burn 5-8 disc at a
    time.
    Just wondering, I hope someone
can tell me or educate me.
Thank you ...have a great day

    Question-Encore CS3
I would like to know why when I made the DVD for a project that is perfect in the computer, I can not see the button function when I use the DVD in a normal DVD player for television.
The control DVD player is function only with number but not with arrow!!! I don't see the sign of the menu position.
Infact if I put the DVD in the DVD drive of the computer I see the film perfectly, but if I put the same DVD created in a normal DVD player, I don't see the button animated. I can change position just with pressing the number of the poistion but not with the arrows !!
Can you tell me what I have to do ???
    Thank you for the answer.

  • Problems reinstalling Premiere and Encore CS3

Using Vista 64,I had the problem of losing my 3 optical drives (2 DVD and 1 Blu-Ray) two days ago.(The problem with the drivers not being available).Despite trying the regedit fix (upper and lower filter removal),they still did not work and I could not use the repair option on the installer DVD for obvious reasons. So a fresh install was carried out, everything I had on the computer before the re-install has loaded and is working fine, except Premiere Pro CS3 and Encore CS3.I can load the third party content on the Premiere disc and the codecs and the library on the Encore disc but NOT the main programmes.Anybody know of a workaround?.
The Vista 64 is an upgrade from XP professional and the Premiere CS3 an upgrade from Premiere 6.5.Both applications worked fine until my optical drive problem.Any help or advice appreciated.

Sounds like a problematic video driver or codec issue. You need to update all your drivers and try again. Also get rid of any unnecessary codecs. Try opening files in various formats and see if the same happens. Also you should search the KnowledgeBase, it contains a lot of information about this kind of problem.
If all fails, call Adobe Tech Support...

  • Choppy Video is CS4 Premiere Pro and no video on disc when burned in nero6

First let me say know i am anitquated. My sys is a Dell XPS/Dimension 400/9150 with a nVidia 256MB PCI Express x16 GeForce 6800; Processor, 80547, PENTIUM D SMITHFIELD FOR DESKTOPS..., 820 SKT-T, Male; Pentium® D CPU 2.80GHz 2.79 GHZ, 3.00GB of RAM and i am using Adobe CS4 Premiere. Have had no problems until recently. the little problem is that when burning avi's thru nero 6 all of a suddent there is no video on the disc. The BIG problem is I produce a weekly TV show on the ABC affiliate. We've just switched to HD and now when I am editing the video is choppy - almost stop action. happens not on the raw feed but as you add layers. So the two question are a)what can Ido so I can get back to work, and b) if i have to replace the card, whats both the best and cheapest to handle my needs. Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
You did not tell us about your system's I/O, i.e. the HDD's, their size, speed, free space, controller type and how you have them allocated.
Now, how to you get the material from PrPro to Nero?
Have you tried the great authoring program, Adobe Encore? It ships with PrPro and is a wonderful program for authoring DVD's.
As a starter, I would Export as elemental/elementary streams, i.e. non-muxed, video-only and audio-only, and then Import the video-only file into Encore as a Timeline, and the audio-only file as an Asset. From the Project Panel (looks about like the one in PrPro), just drag your audio-only file to the appropriate Timeline, where it snaps into place.
Encore ships and installs with a bunch of Functional Content: Menus, Buttons, etc., and these can be easily accessed and brought into the Project from the Library Panel. You can then Edit in Photoshop for about anything that you would want.
As for why Nero might be messing up, I have never even seen that module in Nero. Maybe others can help.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
