Encore CS3 error, won't build DVD?!

I've created a basic menu in Encore CS3 with two buttons and two separate timelines.  I've checked and previewed my project several times and everything works OK.  However, whne I try and build a DVD disk, I get this error message: "PGS "file name" has an error at 3;29;14 (the very end of the video clip)  Internal software error: %0. line (my file name). PGC info: name= "my file name" ref= EPGC.time=00;3;29;14.
I rendered this video clip out of After Effects CS3 as an mpeg2 file. Have tried re-rendering out of a new After Effects project and result is the same. Have also tried different disks, same result.
The second clip in the Encore project works fine; it was captured the same way in the same format.  Both timelines play fine whne previewed in Encore and all links and buttons fiunction perfectly.
What does this error mean and how do I correct the problem?
Thanks!

Some of us experience this pgc error (only in CS3) and have found no real solution.  There are a variety of workarounds.  I believe the most persistent version is the result of some unidentified combination of hardware and software.
One qualifier: I'm not sure that any of us that reported had exported the timeline file from AE.  I don't see that it shojl dmatter, but I'd consider the possibility that it is an actual asset error.
I believe that there are 3 variations, and they may have different implications: timelines (your issue), motion menus, and slide shows.
Copies of projects and assets taken to a machine/user who does not experience the error work fine.  Some users have done a ridiculous amount of testing (I'm one), and some have declared a solution (I am not one, and believe there are probably multiple causes).  Since CS4 is out, I doubt we will ever see any further resolution, and, since the problem can not be reliably repeated in a new project with new assets, no "bug" was ever demonstrated.
The first rule is to use flawless workflow.  (I'm copying this from notes on a previous post, and I still don't find a link right off to Neil Wilkes' and Jeff Bellune's descriptions, but one example is never changing assets with Encore closed.)  But I have instances in which I was perfect (ha, ha), and the error occurred.
In most instances, one or more workarounds can be used.  If you used a muxed file, do it again with demuxed.  If you used files that were in the same folder as the xmpses files (the files premiere creates to carry project/chapter info), delete the files other than the m2v and wav and reimport the asset as a timeline. (You will have to redo the chapter markers.  It is best to delete the old file from the project, and have the newly imported file renamed.  However, I have done it various ways successfully.)  If you have long file names with spaces, shorten and remove the spaces.

  • Encore CS3 : "Error: File exists"... veeeeery clear !

I have updated a project in Encore CS3 : cleared old timelines, replaced by updated ones. Remade all links. Checked project before starting the encoding.  While I have been able to do about 5 or 6 versions of this DVD with similar updates, this time, while "building Morion Menus" proceed (Rendering Title menu), at about 80% of the progress bar, it stops and tell me an error box : "File Exists" with the only option to okay ot and stop everything !
Very clear message (as usual with Adobe...) !  I have over 100,000 "files" *existing* on my PC !!!....
Anyone have a clue of what I'v done wrong and what I should correct ?
(Sorry for the frustrated tone here...)
    Thanks,
    Rob

The only error message that I've ever gotten in Encore was the one above. It was the fourth DVD in a 6 disc set, and I was using a "template" that I had made with only a few Assets (Menus, and common Audio & Video files), plus folder/bin structure. I probably got lazy and did the non-recommended Asset-replacement method, but will never know for sure. While I waited for a response on the forum, I just started over with the virtually empty "template," Imported the Assets, made NO changes to the Assets and everything burned fine. I had probably violated the "cardinal rule of Asset-replacement, without realizing it.
Neil's was is definitely the best.
    Good luck,

  • Encore CS3 subtitles won't default to "off"

I'm using Encore CS3, and have a couple of subtitle tracks, but want the default to be "subtitle off" and despite my setting the disk build properties to "Subtitle: Off", the disk, when created (and even in the Encore preview windows), the subtitle always defaults to playing the first subtitle track.  I don't want the viewers to have to turn off the subtitles every time they view the DVD.  The "Play" button for the program on the main menu is set to "Subtitle: No Change". So, unless I go and turn the subtitles on, the DVD should theoretically play with subtitles OFF, right?
Now, I can force the "Play" link to play the track with subtitles off, but then that prevents the viewers from turning the subtitles on via the subtitles menu (which throws back to the "Play" link, which would then turn the subtitles back OFF when it's hit.)
I suppose I could create a separate identical copy of the main menu, the "First Play" one with the subtitles forced "off," and then one that the subtitle selection menu can throw back to, that is set at "No Change", but that all seems kind of unnecessarily circuitous.
So far the only other "workaround" I can think of is to make the first subtitle track a blank track, and then put the "real" subtitles on tracks 2 & 3.  But that seems like kind of a cheap workaround.
    Anyone have any insights?  Thanks!

    Hello.
You don't actually mention if this problem occurs in preview or in a real player.
If in preview - what happens on a real disc?
if on a real player, is the player perhaps set to have a default subtitle language? I ran across this on a recent project & had to force subtitles to default off on the disc, as the player insisted on displaying subtitles because it's firmware had set it's language as "English".

  • Strange error message when building dvd

    Hi
I have a dvd project, at about 80% progress of the build, I get the following error
Has anyone got any idea what this may be.
    Many thanks
    Chris Anderson

    Hi
    Thanks for your reply.
I do have a blu-ray burner, and i was creating a image, the error came up during the transcode. I have 12gb memory - what do you mean by tons ? is 12 enough.
I am working with avchd 1920x1080, that i have successfully used before.
I would then intend to burn the iso file afterwards, so the error is purely in encore, not relevant to burner as such
I did actually go the AME route, then import into encore and it worked fine, so it appears the transcoding in encore is the issue.
It would be helpful offcourse if the error message gave more info or what stage it was at at the time of the error.
    Thanks again
    Chris

  • Please Help Me!  Encore giving error message on Build:  "fatal error", Code: "6", note: "video buffe

    Hello,
I have been trying to build a project (a 50gb Blu Ray disc) for the last couple of days and I keep getting an error message I have never gotten before.  The error says: "fatal error", Code: "6", note: "vide buffer underflows  Total bitrate is too high near..."
I don't know why this is happening.  I build this entire project from the ground up once before using the exact same assets but I accidently deleted that project file so I had to put it together again.  But it was practically identical.  And it would build the project just find.  I deleted the cache folder.  I deleted the main video timelines and recreated them.  I made sure the transcode settings for bitrate were not too high.  I did everything I can think of.
Can someone please help me?  I have no idea what to do now.  The frustrating thing is that the error message doesn't tell me what asset the problem is with or anything.  This is a rather complicated project.  I have two full length movie files (about 90 minutes each) and seven video special features.  I have five audio tracks and a couple of subtitle tracks.  I don't have any idea what asset is causing the problem!
But I used all these same assets before and I built the project perfectly.  And it is not the subtitles because I deleted the subtitle tracks and I still got the error message.
Is there any way of knowing what assets are causing the problem?  How can I fix this?
I have a number of people who are waiting for the completion of this disc so I need to get this resolved pretty soon.
    Thanks.

The error says: "fatal error", Code: "6", note: "vide buffer underflows  Total bitrate is too high near..."
What is the rest of the error message?
What version of Encore and what operating system?
    using the exact same assets
What format? Already transcoded m4v/a3c 5.1 or what? Does Encore show them for Bluray as "Do Not Transcode"?
What were the export settings, particularly bitrate?
Is there any way of knowing what assets are causing the problem?
    Not through the error message.
Rather than deleting elements to see what causes it, I would add elements (e.g. you got the error, deleted the subtitle tracks, and still had the error, leaving the possibilit that a cache or similar is contining the problem even if the subtitles caused it).
So add just the menus and timelines, no extra audio, no subtitles,
When starting a new project, make sure you are using a new name for the project.

  • Encore CS3 Error: Disc requires a layer break

    Hi,
So I'm trying to build a DVD with DVD Video and ROM content (3.92GB for DVD video and 4.61GB for ROM content) on a dual layer DVD. When preparing the disc layout encore stops and comes up with a warning: DualLayer - This disc requires a layer break.
I've set Encore to make the layer break automatically, and changing it to manual doesn't make any difference... can you help?? I've tried exporting the project to disc, image and folder but it makes no difference!!!
    Tim

You have a mixture of problems at play here, and whilst this may seem like a pain in the rear, there is a way out for you.
Problem #1 is that Encore cannot set a layer break in the ROM content, as it cannot hook into it and therefore has no way of knowing what it contains.
Problem #2 is that when creating DVD9 discs, there are 2 ways to master them - OTP (Opposite Track Path) and PTP (Parallel Track Path).
All DVD Writers are incapable of writing in PTP mode. This has caused me problems on more occasions than you can possibly know. It's a real PITA.
    You can however
    i replicate
    to PTP mode.
Why is this the case? Well, because DVD is usually used for DVD-Video, and the Layer Break needs to be as unobtrusive as possible - so the disc mastering uses OTP so that for Layer 0, the laser starts at the middle of the disc, travels to the outside, refocusses to Layer 1 and then travels back towards the middle again. The idea is to minimize the time taken to refocus, giving if anything just a small pause at worst, should the break point need to be placed in the middle of a film (Do not confuse this with "Seamless" layer break in apps like IMGBurn, as that ONLY applies to Multiple Angle discs. NEVER add a "seamless" flag on a single angle film)
Trouble with OTP is that you cannot have more information on Layer 1 than on Layer 0 - for obvious reasons.
The solution is PTP - and this has to be done in a PreMastering application. GEAR Pro Mastering Edition is one for PC, and DVD AfterEdit is one for Mac. The masters cannot be burned. They need to be written to DLT tapes.
One possible workaround is to tell Encore to create a Folder with just your DVD-Video material. Do not - at this point - add the ROM content.
    Launch IMGBurn (freeware/Donationware, www.imgburn.com)
    Go into BUILD mode.
Make sure it is set to "Calculate Optimal" for Layer Breaks.
    Add your Video_TS folder.
    Add your ROM folder.
Hit "Write" - it will tell you it cannot find a suitable location for a Layer Break to spec, and ask you if you want to proceed anyway.
Tell it "YES" and it will make your disc.
Where the layer break will be is anybody's guess, but it will load your Video_TS and try to split the data equally between the layers. It should put it between files.
It's your only shot at getting a written disc - this will not be suitable for replication unless you master it in PTP mode though.
    Good Luck.

  • Encore CS3 error...help!

Encore's been working fine up until today. It stopped importing files - nothing comes in and it hangs after it transcodes a file during the "import" phase.
I cancelled one build and it gave me this error message:
"Operating System Error:nummber 0x00000020 - The process cannont access the file because it is being used by another process"
I've tried deleting the cache file, I've tried going into the regestry and deleting that cache file, I've tried just about everything I could find after searching this forum - nothing.
I've got CS4 on order, and Adobe says it's supposed to ship on the 14th, so I'm hoping it'll get it not long after that and before I need to burn anything too big - I don't want to have to move everything to my laptop where Encore is working fine. And I just got my Vista 64 upgrade disc and wanted to wait to install it when CS4 got here, but if installing the OS agin is what would fix this, I'll do it now.
Any ideas - any at all????

    Eric,
The only time I have gotten the "file being used... " message was when I was using a "template" Project and just Importing new Assets into it. Only happened once.
In that case, I started from my "template" anew, and re-did the Importation. Worked perfectly second time around. I assume that this was a Cache problem of some sort. As I had not modified any of these Assets, just Import_As_Timeline and as Asset and added my Audio to the respective Timelines, I do not think that could have caused the problem. I also have Indexing turned off for all HDD's and all folders (see next).
One question on your OS setup: do you have either Windows' Indexing turned on, or any other indexing turned on?
The problem with Assets not Importing is a real concern. Since this just started happening, I'd look to what is different about these Assets and this Project, and what might have changed in your program and with your system. Are these files located someplace different, than with your earlier Projects - an external HDD, for instance? When something works one day, but not the next, it almost has to be a change someplace: OS, system, program or a difference in the Assets themselves.
Now, sometimes I attribute FU's to the "phases of the Moon," but Jeff, Neil and Ruud usually chime in that it was OE (my OE), and they are always right... [Grin]
I agree with you about updating your OS later, when this Project is finished.
Also, tell us a bit more about these particular Assets, please.
Last, try creating a "test" Project and attempt to Import some "known good" Assets into it. Do these work, or do you get the same behavior, as with your current Project?
Good luck, and thanks for all of your contributions to the Premiere forums,
    Hunt

  • Encore Photoshop ERROR 1 when burning DVD

    Mavericks causes problems.
Some users reports the following fixes their problems:

The earliest mavericks problems reported was the photoshop -1:

The workaround was not to left-click on the menu. Use right click, or other options and menu commands.

  • Encore CS3 Error 14 but...

Error: invalid format code: 14 0x00010006 and later on 0x00010007
progressive_sequence not valid for video resolution.
Trying to build a blu ray folder from a Cineform avi.
I have succeeded in building a folder before, with the same file and settings, but nevertheless it is not succeeding anymore.

    Hi,
I'm managed to get this same error exactly. Using Canon HV20 50i PAL Footage i can NOT get it to NOT transcode. To clarify, i wish to create the project with the native HV20 video files and NOT have it transcode them when the file properties are exactly the same as the project.
There is no option to select 'no transcode' for BD output, it always wants to transcode the file. I feel there is some kind of 'bug' not letting us use this native footage.
Is there any work around or known problem at this stage as i realize this post is fairly old.
I have also tried demuxing the streams to elementary to eliminate the transcoding of audio as MPEG2 Layer 2 isnt supported for BD output i believe so it always has to re-encode that side of it. But it still wants to transcode the video (which is what i don't want to do so i can keep the utmost quality).
Any help would be appreciated if other PAL HV20 users have come across this issue.
    Thanks.
EDIT: Also as someone suggest as a 'fix' previously in this post, i do not wish to change to 50p output as all that does is force me to 720p50. So on top of a down-rez i'm also getting a re-encode which is greatly UN-wanted. :)

  • Encore CS3 subtitle from DVD to avi

I have two problems in my subtitle process.
    1) I have made subtitles manually in a 5 minute movie, within the safe margins of the screen. None are more than one(1) line long. I have the movie to play at once (no menu) and just a single subtitles track. It works fine when I preview it in encore (cs3), however, when I build a DVD folder and play it, there are no subtitles and I cannot enable them.
I am quite new with encore, so perhaps I am missing something vital (apart from not being experienced ;)). What should I do?
    2) I need my subtitles to work if I convert the DVD files to another format. That is, I will be needing it for a youtube video, with subtitles or something similar. Is there any method to prefer above others - and what should I be aware of, when I convert.
Will subtitles from a correct DVD folder, be integrated in a conversion?
    Thanks in advance,
    - M.

I'm having the same problem that Marcus had, is there a solution please?

  • Pioneer BDR-202 hard reboots system in Encore CS3

I am having a problem where Encore CS3 hard reboots when building my project at the point where it starts to actually write data to disc. The weird thing is it works absolutely fine with a BD-RE and will not work at all with BD-R media from the same manufacturer (TDK). I've tried creating an image and then burning, and it still happens. I'm not sure what's wrong and I really don't want to be stuck with a drive that only does BD-RE's (which we just ended up having to send to a client).
After the system hard reboots, Windows XP comes back up stating it recovered from a serious error and when I look into the error it appears device driver related, though it doesn't say exactly which driver. I've also tried using IMGBURN software and the Roxio software that came with the drive and I get the same problem.

Windows XP does not support Blu-ray natively. In fixing that problem, I suspect that either anydvd or powerdvd may have installed bits that are causing your problem with Encore.
To meet your deadline, create a Blu-ray image in Encore, and then burn it using ImgBurn:
    http://www.imgburn.com/
Then, when you have time - try to troubleshoot your system to find out why Encore doesn't see the Blu-ray drive correctly.

  • Adobe Encore CS3  Recorder: None Found?

I'm using Encore CS3.  I have burned DVDs with it many times before, but today it tells me in the "Build --> Destination" box: "Recorder: None Found."  I click refresh but nothing happens.  I know I have two working DVD writers connected to the computer, but Encore refuses to recognize them.  I tried re-installing, but I still have the same problem.  I have also tried running the program as administrator.  What can be causing this problem?

When a program works one day, but not the next, then something has changed.
The trick is finding out what has changed.
Did you add any new software (maybe Nero, or Roxio)?
Do you use Quicken and its Backup Up to Disc, where you burn to a CD?
Did you add any new hardware?
Have you run any Windows OS updates, or hot-fixes? [usually results in broken/obsolete video or audio drivers.]
Do you have a Restore Point from when things did work?
Take a look at this ARTICLE in the Encore FAQ.
    Good luck,

  • Encore CS3 crash when i click Build (SWF, BluRay, DVD Burn/Image/Folder) or Check project

So I'm finally done with my DVD. Now i want this burned to a dvd or make an image file. Each time i hit BUILD or START (Check proj) the program quits and I'm left with the normal OS X message: The application Adobe Encore quit unexpectedly >> Ignore - Report... - Relaunch
My DVD is not that fancy but i got a menu with 3 buttons made in PS with a pointer highlight and a animating background made in After Effects (using dynamic link) with some music. All of the buttons link to After effects comps with dynamic link. All of the after effects compositions are transcoded and works within the DVD preview (except the DVD menu background wont play, and i got a feeling it will play when i export an image or DVD). And all the After Effects comps links back 2 the menu when done. So there should be no error in the project flowchart.

Don't know if this any help but hope anybody got some ideas. I've been trying to look for a solution on the forums, but without any luck.
By the way, I'm using a Mac Pro v3,1 (early 2008) with 2 x 2,8ghz quads, 10GB memory, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (512mb) and plenty of disk space.

Hey, i think if there could be any of the possibilities you talk about, it might have been a naming error. All files i created had the same name in the new project as in the old one. But i used 1 asset arrow that i copy pasted from a library button "Red facets button" and shift pasted on my own buttons as highlight (paste sub picture). In the first project i did not do this as a straight forward thing, a lot of deleting and adding because i had never done it before and there might have happened something with the naming of the arrow i pasted. I used the same arrow in the second project but without messing with delete, paste all the time. But some how there is no problems now, just something wrong with the last project file =S
    Not so important:
I also noticed while building the new project i once got an "General error", not sure why but happened after a random crash. And 2 get rid of it i had to delete the menu and make it again (i could not edit anything in the menu without getting the error). I rebuild the menu and had another crash when exiting the program, because i thought my computer needs to boot after 2 days online. When i reopened the project i got "General error" in the menu again, but after some clicking it didn't show up (random). Finally i got my project setup and everything works, i did the copy past as sub picture as a straight forward thing.

  • Internal Software error PGC  for encore CS3 !!! solved  !!!

Almost everybody here knows the next error:
PGC "timeline name" has an error at xx:xx:xx:xy internal software error : %0, line timeline name - PGCINFO: name= timeline name, ref=BPGC, time=xx:xx:xx:xy
Where the y in time stands for the length of the timeline minus 2 frames. The BPGC error can also be FPGC or DPGC dependant on how many menu's there are in the project.
It kept me awake for weeks and after reading this forum several times and comparing encore CS3 with encore 2.0 filenames I found the solution.
This Error is a bug in encore witch has nothing to do with blank filename spots and sonic coding or codecs or planning your workflow with a pencil but pure with the combination Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 and Encore CS3.
This is what generates the problem:
In Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 you build project with video, sound and chapters. Then you export the project via the Media Encoder not Multplexed.
Premiere CS3 then creates the following files:
    filename.M2V (video file mpg)
    filename.AC3 (audio file ac3)
filename.M2V.XMPSES (an adobe file with preview info and chapter pointers)
    filname.XMP (??)
It is the .M2V.XMPSES file witch creates the PGC error. If you use the MULTIPLEX DVD option then ADOBE will not create the .M2V.XMPSES file so there will not be an error. This trick mentioned by ADOBE and many others is just to go around the bug instead of solving it. Also with multiplex you have just one sound track. I use two sound tracks like 5.1 and a 2.0 track witch you can choose in a menu.
Some people say it is the blank spots. Also not true. They have probably just erased the blank spots of the M2V file and forgot the .M2V.XMPSES file.
When you just delete the .M2V.XMPSES file and then open the M2V and AC3 file in Encore as a new asset, make a timeline and menu's and the project will built and burn. Only if you delete this .M2V.XMPSES file Encore takes a longer time to import the M2V file and will be without the chapter points.
Almost everything else will work like menu with sound and even a movie background (use M2V files). Only the motion buttons in a menu still wont work unless you use a black background !?!. Haven't figured this out yet. Only solution for this is use Encore 2.0. In this older version also the motion buttons will work without error's (everything else also so why buy CS3??)
Here is what you must do create a DVD without errors:
-Create a project in Premiere Pro, even with chapters.
-Write down all chapter points (minutes:seconds:frames)
-Create two new unique maps in explorer for example D:DVD1 and D:DVD2
-Export in Premiere with Media Encoder without the Multiplex:DVD but with NON to the D:DVD1 map
-Copy from D:DVD1 only the M2V and AC3 files to D:DVD2
-Start up Encore DVD CS3 or 2.0
-Create a new unique project in Encore for example "DVD" and save this in the map D:DVD2\
-Then use Save-as (under file) and pinpoint to D:DVD2\dvd to be sure that all Encore's files are placed in this folder.
-Select M2V file and make new timeline.
-Make chapter points (you wrote down the points, did you?)
-Create menu's, even with sound (AC3) and movie background (M2V)
-Then render project if you have used a video for menu background
    -Finally Built and burnnnnnn!!
-If you like to use motion buttons in a menu then use Encore 2.0
I have double checked my work flow and it really works. I have built a project and burned with success Then I deleted the timeline and the M2V file. Copied the .M2V.XMPSES file in the used folder. Re loaded the M2V file in encore (this time much faster! and with chapter points). Tried to built and burn and back was the error. Also this happened in in Encore 2.0!!
Hope that this will solve the PGC error once and for all !!!

    > Where the y in time stands for the length of the timeline minus 2 frames.
This can actually vary, and so far at least, I don't think we've seen a pattern as to type of pgc error based on how many frames from the end it reports.
    > The BPGC error can also be FPGC or DPGC dependant on how many menu's there are in the project.
Number of menus is not relevant; the iteration of the first letter is more related to subsequent occurrences of the error. In my current tests it did not always update; they may have been too similar.
    > This is what generates the problem...
Well, the problem does not occur every time you do what you describe, any more than it occurs every time spaces are left in the file names. What you have is, as some other suggestions, a workaround. Thats not bad, and I wonder if you are onto something as to what is contributing to the problem.
So, on to the interesting part whether the xmpses file, or at least what Encore is doing with it, is contributing something. I took an old test project that throws the PGC error and did some experiments.
Background. I am a user who does get the pgc errors regularly, but not always. Creative Suite Production Premium, with PPro CS3 3.2.0 (374) and Encore 3.0.1.008. Pentium 4 2.8GHz 2G RAM, XP SP3, Multiple drives, Nvidia GEforce4 MX440 i.e. an older system. I have lots of stuff loaded and running, including virus protection and firewall, so there are any number of potential conflicts. But I get no crashes, and only one problem other than the pgc. (PPro and Encore monitor windows do this diagonal thing I suspect the display card, but the drivers are up to date. Maxing and then back to fit fixes it.)
If you want to attempt to replicate my studies, here is a link to my problem clip and the first Encore project I describe.
    http://www.videoandcomputer.com/test/pgc_test.htm
This project involves a very short AVI export from PPro CS3 - just over 8 seconds - called pgcbad_clip1.avi. Just to answer any question, the source is dv camera capture, and the source and avi export I use are dv avi type 2. There were no effects added on the timeline.
Test 1: Create a project in Encore CS3. Use the sunset menu and delete all the buttons except "play all." Import the avi as a timeline. Set the timeline end action as "return to last menu" and set the button link to the timeline. Auto transcode. (Project settings are 8mbps max and a3c.) Check project shows okay; there is never a problem with that. Build to a DVD folder in a new folder. This project throws the pgc error.
Test 2: Now create a new Encore project in a new folder. Use the same process, except import as timeline the m2v and a3c files from the first run. (I.e. if the clip is pgcbad_clip1.avi, in the test1 project folders, there is a folder called pgcbad_clip1.avi that has 6 files.) Note that in the folder they are imported from is an xmpses file from the first project's encore transcode. The build again fails with the pgc error - same frame, etc, but I really think the frame number doesn't matter.
Test 3: Now create another new Encore project in a new folder. Use same process, but before importing the m2v and a3c as timeline, delete the xmpses file. Drumroll...... Build succeeds!
    Go figure.
This is not the repeatable bug option weve been looking for, but based on a clip that always fails, it does demonstrate the odd event of deleting the xmpses file as a workaround. I wonder if that will give adobe something to work with.
Can anyone else get my clip to work/not work in a straight project?
Test 4: Just to answer the question since the avi file fails here, will the elemental option succeed? I exported elemental m2v and wav from PPro, used the same project process, and transcoded the wav. That build also works! I have seen this work both ways. I have had projects where the elemental failed, and an avi export worked. I do believe the elemental options work more consistently. But my project that I completed yesterday used all avi exports, animated buttons in the submenu, - no pgc error.

  • Encore CS5 freezes when building DVD

    Hi!
Just spent lots of money on CS5 and got lots of problems. Cannot build DVD at all. Even 50 sec. HDV, DSLR or any kind. Encore becomes frozen after few min of transcoding.
    dual xeon
    Nvidia quadro 4800
    12 gb ram
RAID 0   2 T plus multiple single drives.
Matrox mini, I have installed just the card but not the software since it is not working with  CS5.
My previous versions of CS3 and CS4 worked fine. I would say that CS4 was much more stable.
    Any comments?
    Thank you in advance.
    Michael

I may have had a breakthrough in that, after removing several media converter apps, I now seem to have dependable DVD production. I thrashed around and removed a few things before I checked again, but my suspicion is that ffmpeg might be the culprit, (but I don't have time to reinstall it to verify that notion now).
I'm happy if that fixes the problem, but still can't help but feel that it's a program flaw if its able to zone out so silently, without an error message, or even reporting that it's not responding, (but just perpetually idling). That was a frustrating and erie problem that I hope can a least be improved on to the point of crashing with some kind of diagnostic if not surmounting whatever the conflict is. So far, 4 DVDs without a hitch. Yea.
