Encore CS3 install failure

Windows XP Pro
Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 full version
Because of several problems and conflicts in trying to "export to encore" from Premiere Pro CS3 (mainly, Encore was asking me to put a blank disk in the wrong disk drive [my cd-rw drive instead of my dvd drive]once the encoding was done and burning was about to begin, I decided to uninstall both Premiere Pro CS3 and Encore CS3 from "Add/Remove Programs" from "Control Panel" in preparation for reinstalling both. However, when I clicked on "unistall" for any CS3 application, nothing at all would happen. In frustration I simply started deleting all the program files I could find relating to CS3. I was finally successful in uninstalling both after inserting the respective disks, but a program called "encore stock photos cs3" still wouldn't uninstall so I followed some online advice and started deleting all Adobe cs3 related "uninstall" keys from my registry.
I was able to successfully, re-install premiere pro cs3, but components of the encore cs3 reinstall failed with the following messages:
Summary

Two questions I hope someone can answer. 1. How do I replace these two items. 2. Why were they still on my machine in the first place since I deliberately tried to erase all traces of CS3 from my system before reinstalling? Isn't their continued presence considered invasive?
Thanks in advance,
T

You did not use the CS3 clean scripts. That would have been all that is required. Unfortunately now you will have to run the install again after you've wiped everything "the correct way". In clearer terms: deleting does not remove installer and other registry info or the cached installer packages, hence it causes problems. Only the script will allow you to correctly remove CS3 applications at the cost of wiping them all, of course.

  • Encore CS3 library install fails on win7 64bit pro

    Hi
Just installing my discs from Premiere Pro CS3 onto a win 7 64 bit pro PC, which was my Win X 32bit PC but with all new components except Power supply unit and my Audigy X-Fi elite pro sound card.
    Exit Kaspersky IS 2014.
Premiere CS3 failed to go on though other third part components did.
I then disabled Kaspersky IS 2014 AND made the User Account Control 'off', and bingo, it worked.
So now reboot and turn off KIS and check UAC is off, and proceed, install Encore CS3. it went on
However Encore CS3 library has a red X.
try again select install library, long wait for the green progress bar to finish, result still not on.
Why and what else can I do ?
Has anyone else had a battle installing CS3 onto win7 pro 64bit or just win7 64 bit ?
    Merlin

CS3 is 32 bit. But it sounds like you got that part to work. Does Encore run? I don't think that is the issue; I suspect permissions.
If you are just wanting menus, etc, just use the CS6 download. Don't use one of the links with an installer; just download and unzip to the correct location. The menus were not updated from the pre-CS4 pars (Encore knows to do this), so I suspect you will be fine. I have not actually used the recent library with CS3.

  • Adobe Encore CS3 compatiblity with Windows 8.1?

    Is Encore CS3 compatible?

CS3 is old enough, and Win8.1 is new enough, that you may not find anyone here with that combination
Have you tried installing and using?
Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will often be needed
You also MAY need to right click the program icon and select a compatibility mode from the popup option window (I know this for Win7 but do NOT know if Win8.1 has the same popup)

  • HDV CS3 Project to SD Encore CS3

I have a HDV sequence I've edited in PPro CS3. I want to export the sequence to Encore CS3 in standard definition.
What is the best way to accomplish this?
Option 1: Export the HDV sequence from PPro to an uncompressed DV AVI in Widescreen format at 720 x 480 (1.2). Import that AVI into Encore and let it compress the video to MPEG-2 format. I've read about some people using this workflow - however I'm not sure if I need to de-interlace my footage. I chose to use the lower field first since I'm going to DV AVI format. Should I de-interlace if I use this option? Also I noticed some small black bars on either side of my video when I go with this option - is there a work around for that?
Option 2: Expor the HDV sequence from PPro to MPEG-2 DVD format. Will my video look better if I export right to MPEG-2 DVD format from PPro's HDV timeline?
I have researched forums on this question however I'm unable to find a definitive answer on this subject.
    Thanks
    Foochuck

Most people would find neither of your options acceptable. The absolute best method is to use Dan Isaacs' hd2sd script with AviSynth. Just search this forum and you will find a wealth of information. There is also a great tutorial on dv2film that will show you how to install the tools. Also see http://invertedhorn.axspace.com/hdv2dvd_basic.html for much of the same info.

  • Pioneer BDR-202 hard reboots system in Encore CS3

I am having a problem where Encore CS3 hard reboots when building my project at the point where it starts to actually write data to disc. The weird thing is it works absolutely fine with a BD-RE and will not work at all with BD-R media from the same manufacturer (TDK). I've tried creating an image and then burning, and it still happens. I'm not sure what's wrong and I really don't want to be stuck with a drive that only does BD-RE's (which we just ended up having to send to a client).
After the system hard reboots, Windows XP comes back up stating it recovered from a serious error and when I look into the error it appears device driver related, though it doesn't say exactly which driver. I've also tried using IMGBURN software and the Roxio software that came with the drive and I get the same problem.

Windows XP does not support Blu-ray natively. In fixing that problem, I suspect that either anydvd or powerdvd may have installed bits that are causing your problem with Encore.
To meet your deadline, create a Blu-ray image in Encore, and then burn it using ImgBurn:
    http://www.imgburn.com/
Then, when you have time - try to troubleshoot your system to find out why Encore doesn't see the Blu-ray drive correctly.

  • Encore CS3 - Hangs and import problems with menus and avi footage with audio tracks present.

I'm trying to import some footage files in .avi format into Encore CS3 and am having several problems.
In what follows when I say "crash" I mean Encore quits with a standard Windows error. When I say "hang" I mean Encore does not quit but rather becomes an unresponsive process that must be killed manually using Windows Task Manager.
    My System:
    WinXP Pro SP2
2.93 GHz Intel Celeron CPU - single core
    Intel PERL mobo
    3GB 400MHz RAM
    NVidia 7800GS video
I mention these specs however I am not experiencing any hardware
related bugs or issues (like out of memory or video driver crashes
etc) when using any CS3 app.
The footage files (as reported by GSpot) and problems I am seeing. In all cases GSpot reports that I have the appropriate codec installed:
    footage1.avi - Dx50 XVid 1.0.3, Dolby AC3 48kHz 192kb/s, 716834 KB
Attempting to import as timeline causes Encore CS3 to hang.
Importing as an Asset allows it to import but when I try to click
on it in the project windown to add it to a new empty timeline,
Encore hangs. It plays fine in Windows Media Player.
    footage2.avi - Dx50 XVid 1.0.3, MPEG-1 Layer 3 48kHz 128kb/s, 718302 KB
Imports fine as either a timeline or asset but no audio track comes
with it, even though there is an audio track in the footage. It plays
fine in Windows Media Player. Video imports perfectly, just no audio.
    footage3.avi - Dx50 XVid 1.0.3, MPEG1-Layer3 48kHz 112kb/s, 717606 KB
Imports fine as either a timeline or asset but no audio track comes
with it, even though there is an audio track in the footage. It plays
fine in Windows Media Player. Video imports perfectly, just no
audio. I tried converting this one using AVS to both MPEG3 and DivX,
each using MPEG1-Layer3 44kHz 192kb/s audio, and got the same issue
upon importing into Encore CS3. I also loaded it into Camtasia
Studio and it looked fine over there. The audio was present and I
was able to export it as a .WAV file. When I tried looking at the
file in Soundbooth CS3, there was no audio track or, more
accurately, the audio track was a flat line.
By way of comparison these are importing perfectly:
    footage4.avi - XVID XviD 1.1.0 Beta2, MPEG1-Layer3 48kHz 189kb/s Two mono
    channels LAME3.96r, 717436 KB.
    footage5.avi - XVID XviD 1.1.0 Final, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s Six
    channels (3/2 .1), 716418 KB.
    footage6.avi - XVID XviD 1.1.0 Final, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s Six
    channels (3/2 .1), 716418 KB.
    footage7.avi - XVID XviD 1.0.3, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s 6 channels
    (3/2 .1), 717502 KB
    footage8.avi - XVID XviD 1.0.3, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s 6 channels
    (3/2 .1), 717180 KB
    footage9.avi - XVID XviD 1.1.2 Final, Dolby AC3 48kHz 448kb/s 6 channels
    (3/2 .1), 2291904 KB
Although this one imported & transcoded correctly, when I went to
build it to a DVD image file I got some strange errors during the
"planning video" stage that prevented the process from completing.
Unfortunately I neglected to write down the error message I recieved
which read like quite nonsensical babble to me, and I have since
deleted the project folder. I remember it was not a memory or
display related error and it included a timestamp where the error
was happening. I played the footage in the preview panel thru the
identified timestamp but it previewed perfectly without even a
jitter in either the video or audio. Took forever to transcode so I
doubt I'll be doing this one again anytime soon.
Another issue I am having is with the motion menus. I burned a DVD and it does not load correctly in one of my DVD players (a Sony rdr-gx330 recorder/player). It appears to take extra time to recognize the disk, the startup (first-play) menu does not show automatically, and I must press the Main Menu button on the

Another issue I am having is with the motion menus. I burned a DVD and it does not load correctly in one of my DVD players (a Sony rdr-gx330 recorder/player). It appears to take extra time to recognize the disk, the startup (first-play) menu does not show automatically, and I must press the Main Menu button on the remote control to make it appear. Other than that it seems to play ok in that player. Also tested it in 2 other DVD players (a Panasonic and Zenith) and it worked just fine like it's supposed to in them. Also plays perfectly in my computer's DVD player/burner using Windows Media Player v10. I tried burning to Memorex +RW single-layer single-sided disks at 6, 7, & 8Mbps project settings but got the exact same result every time.
Encore CS3 crashes fairly often during authoring, particularly during imports, and when I go to edit things like calling up a timeline in the timeline panel, dragging footage into an existing timeline, or changing button links in a menu etc.. I have also experienced seemingly random hangs even more often, probably 5 or 6 times as often as a crash. Saving the project after every little change I make, then closing and restarting Encore allows me to make progress albeit at a significantly reduced workflow rate. Accessing Photoshop from Encore appears to be working flawlessly so far aside from the slow load times. Encore hangs sometimes during video transcoding, repeat the process and it works ok. If I try to import a menu from the library after importing my footage files, Encore hangs trying to import it either at the 50% mark or the 99% mark (it varies even with the same exact menu selected from the library). If I import the menu first and the footage after, then no problems. Also trying to render motion menus after importing footage causes Encore to hang, render before footage import and everything works ok. Interestingly enough, previewing my project in Encore's monitor or preview panels works perfectly even in High quality mode -- in fact it operates quite smoothly in comparison to other apps I have tried. Although those footage files that had missing audio tracks on import obviously played silently, I have yet to experience a hang or crash during a preview or when scrubbing through a timeline in the monitor panel.
The last problem I've seen is with the project cache files. It doesn't always get rid of cache files when stuff is deleted from the project. I was working on one project and surprisingly ran out of disk space. When I tracked it down I found that there were some two dozen copies of a footage file I had repeatedly imported and deleted from the project still sitting in the cache folder. The file was an avi about 2GB so it was taking up some 40 GB of disk space for stuff that was no longer in the project. I tried shutting down Encore and manually deleting all the cache files, and that worked for most of them, but there was one 2GB file that kept reappearing in the cache folder even though it was no longer in the project. The XML file in the cache folder still had references to it in there so I can only assume that was the reason it kept showing up. I eventually had to delete and totally recreate the project from scratch to regain my lost disk space. This included having to sit thru a 6 hour long transcoding session which pissed me off to no end.
Encore CS3 appears on the surface to be a very powerful, feature rich, and approachable app with a simple easy to use interface, but it is awfully bugged in just about every area I have explored and still needs lots and lots of work for it to be really useful. Frankly for me it is pretty damn annoying that I have invested so much money in this suite only to find several of the apps in it (Encore & Premiere in particular) behaving this poorly. In my opinion every single app in the suite exhibits lousy performance whenever you must do anything at all involving the disk from the time you click to start it up until the time you click to close it down. Several of them are just as seriously bugged as Encore too, and being a long time Photoshop v5.5 user I expected much more from Adobe. Even Photoshop is two or three times as slow now (e.g. it takes about 20-30 seconds to simply create an empty 500x500 pixel image file and almost a full minute to load a 30x60 pixel single-layer gif). So far I have attempted to create 6 DVDs using Encore and after 3 weeks of effort have only succeeded in getting one of them onto a final disk -- and that one is kinda limping to work correctly in my DVD player. Three of those projects became so corrupted while working on them that I had to delete them completely and recreate them from scratch, only to find that I still couldn't get them to completion for one reason or another. Seriously disappointing.

  • Encore CS3 hangs on "Come for Blue-ray stay for Flash"! Leopard 10.5.2...

I just got my new MacPro running Leopard. Installed CS3 Master Collection. I opened Premiere ok, Photoshop, etc...but when I tried Encore it just hangs on the part that says "Come for Blue-ray stay for Flash"!
I tried to make a dvd out of premiere going to encore it just had the beach ball spinning.
Thanks in advance anyone who can help.
    rb.
ps:not sure if this cause an issue but I installed an LG GGW-H20L blue-ray burner(it showed up fine in system profilier as sata device in the 2nd-lower open drive bay...)

    An update.
Encore would not launch with the LG GGW-H20L installed in my brand new MacPro. Once I unplugged it it launched Encore CS3. So I do not recommend this blue-ray burner in OSX Leopard.
I'm wondering if the Pioneer BDR-202 would work with MacPro, Leopard 10.5.2, Encore 3.0.2 update.
If anyone has any info please share!

    When I import the AVI files (AS Assets) I receive an error message saying;
'The Software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may help to correct the problem.'
I am pretty sure (Thanks to Bill Hunt) that what I need is a codec for decoding XVID video files.
    Am I right?
Is there such a thing for Mac?
    Where Can I get it?
P.S: I don't want to convert my AVI files to .mov files or other compatible formats because I have allot of files and not allot of time.
    Thanks

In the day that's passed since you've posted, you probably could have converted all your media, but anyway...
If you're for some reason you are still averse to doing that, I would reluctantly suggest installing the Xvid codec on you Mac. Reluctantly, because Xvid can cause havoc on some Windows systems, and I don't know how well it plays on the Mac.
It may work fine, or not - try it at your own risk.

  • I need help importing Videos in Encore CS3 (running on a Mac)

I want to make a DVD with Encore CS3 (running on a Mac).
    I've never used Encore before.
I want to import movie files as Assets.
The only files I've had any luck importing are .mov files (exported by Quicktime Pro).
The movies I want to import are .AVI and .MP4 files.
    When I import .AVI files I receive an error message saying;
'The Software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may help to correct the problem.'
When I import .MP4 files I don't get any error massages but encore recognizes each file as an audio file (Type: Audio File).
When I drag the .MP4 files into the timeline and view them in the monitor I receive sound but not picture.
It seems to me like I'm missing an important codec but I don't have a clue what to do.
Please reply ASAP I need to make a DVD for my Dad.

Encore likes to work with DVD-compliant files, like DV-AVI, MPG2 (transcoded to DVD specs), PCM-WAV files and the like. MOV files are usually handled pretty well too, as you have seen.
Your AVIs are probably DivX encoded, or similar, and you'll need to install the DivX CODEC (free for the PC, but have no clue about the MAC). Those are also heavily compressed files, and when you transcode before burning the DVD, they'll be re-compressed more. The quality might suffice, but they will not look good.
I do not know file format conversion programs for the MAC, but there are a ton of freeware, shareware and full-commercial ones available. DigitalMediaConverter (for PC) is ~US$40 and works well with a lot of different files in different schemes, both Audio & Video. You still need the proper CODECs on your machine to decode and then the proper CODECs to encode during the conversion. It might take some Googling, but you should be able to find both the file conversion programs and the necessary CODECs on the Web.
On PC, I use a little freeware program, G-Spot, to tell me all the details of any problem file. It might be available for MAC, but I do not know. It won't convert, or fix your files, or your system, but will tell you almost anything you'll need to know, especially the CODEC used and if your system has that one installed.
Good luck, and sorry that I know nothing of the software available for the MAC.

  • Encore CS3 Freezing at Splash Screen

I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked and answered.  I searched the forums, but I did not see this exact problem addressed.  Here is my situation:
    (1) I have the latest version of Encore CS3 (v3.0.1.008) installed, and it was previously working on my system (Dell/Intel Core Duo, Windows XP).
    (2) Now when I try to start Encore CS3, it fails to load, freezing on the splash screen while attempting to load "DXCaptureSource.dll".  However the program does not crash - it just remains frozen.
    (3) I have Encore installed as a component of the CS3 Master Collection
    (4) I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Encore to no avail
    (5) I have already tried launching Encore with Version Cue running (both with and without the tray icon being displayed).  This has had no effect on the problem.
    (6) This seems like it could be a plug-in problem, but I have not added any plug-ins to Encore and do not use 3rd party plug-ins with any Adobe product.
    (7) I had Nero Ultra Edition 7 installed on my PC and have since removed it.  This may have been removed around the same time that Encore stopped working, but I do not know this for sure.
If anyone has an idea about what might be causing this issue or how to fix it, I would greatly appreciate the help.  I am hoping to have this issue resolved quickly, as I have to work on authoring a DVD this weekend.  Thanks in advance.

It's amazing, how often one small change or program install "here" makes something stop working over "there"
Now that everything is working again, you might want to think about making a full backup of your drive to an external USB drive
The program I use is mentioned at http://www.pacifier.com/~jtsmith/ADOBE.HTM#SmartOwn
This is not a Windoze restore point... this is a full drive image
I have had a drive fail, and the only thing I lost was a few unimportant daily files

  • Encore CS3 & Quicktime Constant Erros

    Hello All,
I'm still using Encore CS3 (Production Premium CS3) and constantly experiencing the error messages that happen when Quicktime is installed. I constantly have to uninstall Quicktime whenever I need to create a DVD in Adobe Encore CS3.
Then I have to reinstall quicktime when I'm back to working in After Effects.
Does anyone know of a fix for this issue?
I've experienced this issue on Windows XP Pro and I'm currently on Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium.
    The error I receive:
    [..\..\Src\Time.cpp-105]
This forum references the problem (going back to 2008) however no other solution besides uninstalling quicktime, which is a horrible solution: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/400469

Please note, Adobe Premiere runs fine whether I have QT installed or without, it's never given me an issue.
The main problem has always been Encore CS3 & QT, whether on XP or Vista.
I have the idea that you never used QT 7.1.3 with xppro and CS3, but only used 7.1.3 with Vista.  Correct?  I can understand why you would be reluctant to reformat your drive and install xppro, but if you want to have QT available, since xppro and 7.1.3 works for me with CS3 that is the only suggestion I can offer.  Maybe others have different ideas.

  • Encore CS3 - Out of Memory & C++ Runtime Error

I'm running Encore CS3 and I encounter several problems with a recent project that have made Encore practically useless.
When I try to preview the project, play a timeline or preview a menu I get this error. Out of Memory - Please Save and exit immediately to avoid data loss. I also get the c++ runtime error sometimes while trying the same actions.
I've also had Encore hang while trying to import .m2v files, although this appears to happen randomly. Clearing the media cache seams to fix it, sometimes.
All video was compressed with Cinemacraft Encoder 2.70.02.12 and all audio was normalized with Adobe Audition CS3.
I've read through the forms and tried deleting the media cache in the registry and re-installed Encore once. Nothing appears to work, I'm about ready to ditch Encore and go with another authoring program.
    Please help.

    Sony CRX320E

Why would XP64 be the problem if its worked fine for over 30 projects?
I also tried loading the project on one of our 32bit XP workstations with Encore CS3 and had all the same problems.
At this point the problem appears to be a bug with Encore, because after starting over from scratch I got the project to work fine.
It also appears that if you copy/paste anything it will corrupt your project somehow.
So, the bottom line its this, XP64 is not the problem.

  • Encore cs3 crashes

    Hi.
I am having issues with adobe encore cs3 crashing. I have created a dvd with no issues. I had recently started another project that had 3 videos and a bunch of slideshows. It seems that anytime i do anything, the program crashes. I do have a lot of photos in this project. While I was working on the project, any importing as an asset, or previewing gave me no issues at all. I have un-installed and re-installed the software, including various susgestions in forums, such as; disabling services.
I am desperate for any help anyone can give me.

As I often have mega SlideShows, with maybe 3000+ Still Images, I Scale my Images to exactly what I need. With a great quantity of Stills, an extra handful of pixels can be compounded and can tax resources.
When I need more pixels in my Still, than the Frame Size of the Project, say for a long Pan, I will Scale to what I need, maybe 3000 pixels, but will then Crop the vertical to exactly the Frame Size, say 480. I do not want extra pixels, having to be processed.
On a normal SlideShow Project, I will usually Scale the majority of Stills to exactly what the Project's Frame Size is. If I do need more pixels, in either direction (horizontal for a Pan, or vertical for a Tilt), then I calculate exactly what I need, and Scale (often Cropping the other dimension) to that. I usually end up with one folder with the majority of Still Images Scaled to exactly what I need, maybe two others, where I needed more pixels, but the amount is different. Never had a Project that required more than three Scaled dimensions, though it certainly could happen.
With the advent of PrPro CS5 (now CS 5.5), some things have changed a bit, if one has the proper hardware, in that the Scaling algorithms have been improved (expect to see those trickle down to PS by CS 6), but there is still the resource issue.
I'm about to embark on another mega SlideShow, probably topping out at about 2500 Images. As soon as I get the specs. for the display, I will then begin my Scaling. Right now, I feel that the majority will be exactly to the Frame Size, with but a few needing more pixels, but in one dimension only. I have my PS Actions Saved, but might need to tweak one, or two, depending on what the AV department tells me.
John T's analogy is a good one, and when he's not looking, I might "steal" if from him.

  • Encore CS3 Disc is in drive, but installation is asking me to insert disc!

I've got the disc in my drive bay. Autoloads, I click setup. It begins setup of Encore CS3... and then asks me to insert the Adobe Encore CS3 disc into D:\ drive! How is this even happening to me? Is there a way to fix it?

    Brian,
With a few other Adobe installation issues, doing a copy of the installation discs to the HDD and then dragging the executable to the desktop has worked with similar problems.
There are a couple of things to think about:
1.) stop all AV, spyware and pop-up blockers BEFORE you attempt the installation
2.) with some applications, installation from Safe-Mode works, when other methods fail. Do not know if Encore will install in Safe-Mode. some recent Adobe apps will not.
3.) if you have had any trial, or beta Adobe versions installed, uninstall, and run Adobe Clean Script (from the Adobe site), prior to attempting to do another install.
Hope that one of these helps get the "Millennium Falcon" up and running.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Download for Adobe Encore CS3?

In the process of reinstalling Adobe Encore CS3 from an Adobe created disc, I get a message from McAfee antivirus that the disc contains a virus.  Is there a way I can download Adobe Encore CS3 directly from the Adobe website?

The only way you can download a product from Adobe is if you originally purchased via download, so you may go back to "your" account at Adobe to use your original download link
Since you have a disc from Adobe, and I do not remember ever reading of a virus on an Adobe disc, I will guess that McAfee is wrong
Until I upgraded to CS5, I had CS3 on disc, and Norton did not complain when I installed
    I suggest you contact MacAfee
