Encore CS3 - "Sense 62900..Hardware Error "

This has been plaguing me for months. Encore won't write to either of 2 burners - one Memorex and a iHAP. The memorex says it can't "see" a new disc "place a empty media in drive" when that's whats in it.. selecting iHap basically stalls. In both instances Encore error code is " Sense 62900 hardware .." I have checked and replaced the IDE ribbon cables, checked the sockets and deleted DVD optical drivers from Device Manager.
Replaced each burner with new one, removed Roxio (I believe - that's such a tenacious embed). But!  Here's the scoop.. I use a work around using AVS Disc Creator and both burners work just fine. Encore came up with the same error message BEFORE I used a work around. Encore was burning discs sometime ago when a system CPU upgrade required reinstalling Windows OS.
What am I missing here..???

Hunt; I've been using TDK +R, - R and other odd ball brands plus Staples media discs.
Encore builds a Disc Image no problem and then I use AVS to burn the DVD. This is not what I paid for so to speak..! Even though I "appear" to have cleaned out Roxio, I tried to drag n drop a file ontop a burner icon [with a blank media loaded] and up jumped Roxio burner.. I tried the link on a previous post for the Zapper utility but the link has gone. Thats the only thing I can think of that may "lock out" Encore from a burner.. Even bought a copy of RegCure for clean up..
Really stumped..!!

Please Help me. I am having problems with my MATSHITA UJ-857E DVD-R burner/writer. I burned 4 cd's and then it stopped working.
I can select my songs, and then it asks for a blank disc. It starts preparing to write the disc, then it says,"
The drive reported an error: Sense Key= HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code= 0x09,0x01 TRACKING SERVO FAILURE.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix it or what this means because I have no idea what it is talking about or how to begin to fix the problem?

This is an error reported by the optical drive's firmware. The tracking servo is the servomechanism which guides the laser pickup along the track on the optical disc. The error means that the servo couldn't do its job within the programmed parameters. What it doesn't say is why.
You have to be very precise as to when this error occurs. If it occurs as you wrote, while it "starts preparing to write the disc", and not when it has actually began to burn, then it's likely that the drive has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
There are other possibilities, so you should check them, but they would be more likely if the error occurred after the drive began to write. OrangeMarlin has suggested two options -- try a different brand of CD or DVD, and try cleaning the lens.

There is only one option and that is to replace the drive. It is not expensive to perform the replacement yourself if you so choose.

Now before we go on, I have been using Toast all week making Back-ups with out a problem so I don't know why all of a sudden I am getting this message.
It also states that the Lead in & Out failed.
Hope some one can enlighten me.

In some cases if you have done a lot of burning you will need to empty the cache files before you can burn successfully. I have had to do this after I burned 4 or 5 movies and then I was good to go again.
    I use 3 programs.
    Macjanitor.

If I am doing a lot of burning I run these 3 once a week need to or not just to keep the trash all cleaned out of my system.
I try to always follow this Media guide as well and find it to be invaluable when buying good media, for DVD.

  • Problems writing with Encore CS3- Sense Code 30200

I hope someone can help. I am running into an error everytime I try to export to Encore CS3 from Premier ProCS3. The render works fine but shortly into the "write" I get an error: "hardware error Sense Code30200". I am using an HPXW8200 with dual 3.6 GHz xeon processors with an HP dvd 740 burner and Sony DVD+R for media. I have tried updating firmware (the current version is HI24) and that hasn't worked. Any ideas? Is this a drive compatibility issue? Thanks in advance for any help.

As Neil points out, Sense Code errors are almost always burner, or media.
These two things can often be "fixed" with a burner firmware update (ImgBurn will give you firmware versions, and these can be checked on the mfgr's site), or by using different, better blank media.
If your burner is a fully-certified multi-drive, the media "type" should not be an issue, but the brand certainly can be. If it's not a certified multi-drive, then the media type can be an issue.
What brand of media are you using? Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are about as good as it gets. Many others, not so good, to downright horrible and unusable. Brands, such as Ritek, Memorex and TDK can be impossible to work with.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Recurring problem with encore CS3 for windows - pgc error

    Hi,
I've been looking through the solutions to pcg errors and not finding what i need.
A couple of years ago I was getting these messages and looked them up here, found a workaround that I've been using since then. All of the sudden the problem is back and none of the workarounds work.
    My workflow is as follows:
Create a timeline in Premiere and export as m2v (for dvd) import into encore add menu and burn. This has worked many many times. When it first started happening i employed the workaround of moving the m2v and wav files to a different folder (without the other files). Like I said this has worked for a couple of years. Now I keep getting error message referencing the last few frames of the timeline.
When I bring the m2v file into encore there is an extra approx. 9 minutes of black at the end of the timeline (there should only be 30 seconds of black). When I look at the file in a media player the extra black isn't there.
Does anybody know what to do here? Currently I am reexporting all timelines from premiere as .avi files and will try transcoding them in Encore (this worked the other day), but I have 6 hours worth of footage to retranscode now - so much wasted time.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Michelle

  • Encore DVD CS3 Start Message "Runtime Error!"

I installed the Production Premium Suite CS3 with Encore DVD on Windows XP SP2. Dell Dimension 9200 Intel Core 2 DUO
at the startscreen of Encore DVD, i got the Runtime Error! Message.
    Solution:
In my case, the "virtual Daemon Manager" also "Daemon Tool" was the problem.
I had mounted an iso file, after dismounting the file and close the tool resolved the problem.
    Encore DVD is working now!
    Juergen

As the first person in the World to have installation issues originally with Encore 1.5 upgrade (for which the well-known Joe Bowden had to get Adobe tech support to write a special bit of code to brute-force some Encore components to register), I was hoping I would not have any issues with their newest tools.
But I too had a problem with running Encore CS3 - the dreaded Runtime error which has been reported here.
I am running a Dual dual-core Xeon machine with 8GB RAM, Quadro FX 5500, in Windows XP Pro x64.
My colleague had got Encore running on his machine without any problems, so it was annoying to find I had this issue.
We have the same systems, with same software. The only difference is that I have some SCSI hard drives, a SCSI DLT drive, and SCSI CD-RW on top of the DVD writer.
After patching Encore CS3 and trying some techniques listed elsewhere on these forums to make the software work, in the end I had to go to my Control Panel, and disable the SCSI CD-RW drive.
As soon as this was done (a silly but not terrible workaround), Encore CS3 would happily load, and sees both my DVD writer and DLT drive just fine.
Just thought I'd let people know what worked for me....
    Good luck!

  • Hardware Error when burning DVD's

I keep getting an error message when burning DVD's using Toast Titanium on my iMac..it reads:
"Drive Reported an error, Sense key = hardware error, sense code = 0 x 03."
Twice after getting that message I couldn't continue to burn and it stopped, once it did continue to burn and finished successfully. Any ideas, anyone?
    17" iMac G5 w/ iSight   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   upgraded to 1GB RAM

I get the same message today when burning from Toast 7.02 on my iMac. It happened when I was trying to make an audio CD from my iTunes collection (not when Copying from CD to CD). The exact message I got in the middle of my burn was:
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = hardware Error
    Sense Code = 0x03, 0x01
I tryed again with another CD and got the same thing. I never had a problem with these CD's (TDK CD-R up to 48x).
I wonder if there has to be some sort of software upgrade fro Roxio Toast or is this a superdrive malfunction/etc. My Superdrive gets very loud during this burn as well. I may take it in to Apple Genius Bar. Any ideas?

  • Hardware error on disk

    Hello,
3 weeks ago I notice the following message on a server:
    Oct 3 05:22:16 m530e scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@1c,600000/scsi@2/sd@2,0 (sd2):

    Oct 3 05:22:16 m530e scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] ASC: 0x44 (internal target failure), ASCQ: 0x0, FRU: 0xb
The error has not repeated. The scsi address corresponds to a submirror but metastat shows everything is OK.
What happaned? Is there a way to test if the disk is ok? What about that block number on the message? Maybe it's just a bad block and has been mark as such (?)
    Any thoghts are greatly appreciated.

The term soft doesnt mean software.
Both hard and soft errors are being reported by the disk.
A soft error is a retryable error. It could mean a write failed so was written to a spare failover block instead.
A hard error is more serious.
The counters reset when machine is rebooted.
But if they keep appearing, its worth reporting or replacing the disk.
I don't think I'd wait for hundreds. An recurring hard error is a problem.
But I don't normally muck around with marking blocks bad. Modern disks should do that automatically.

  • Hardware Error When Burning a CD or DVD

I keep getting the following error when I try to burn a CD or DVD via my internal burner....
    The drive reported an error:

I think it may be a media problem as well...on numerous occasions when I insert a blank CD the drive will spin a few times the eject the CD....
I'm guessing I can find the firmware update via the Apple Support section..?

  • Hardware error - Tracking servo failure - what does it mean?

Thanks in advance. I was trying to burn a disc, and started having trouble with burning this movie (have done several before, including earlier versions of this movie). After wierd things happening twice - the first disc would burn, then the second one might be o.k. but iDVD ejected it before it said it was done. Then, the third time I got this error:
The recording device reported the hardware error: Tracking servo failure. (0x09, 0x01.)
Any idea what this means and what I should do?
(I'm posting this on both the hardware and software locations since I'm not really sure which it is.)

    Hi,
Thanks for the comments! The CD/DVD lens cleaner appears to have taken care of the problem! I was able to successfully do a backup of my hard drive with Toast (wouldn't work before, see below) and burn two copies of a movie using iDVD. (I put more details of the errors below in case that's helpful for someone else down the line.
I am trying to do the Apple Hardware Test, as you suggested, but need to double check a couple of things. When the article you put a link to mentions the "Apple Hardware Test CD" and the "system CD" are both references to the "Software Install and Restore" CDs? (Those are the only relevant-sounding ones I received, no "Hardware Test CD".) If I put those in, can I run the relevant tests without reinstalling the software (and presumably deleting the other files on my hard drive)?
I did do the steps suggested by PT up through the reboot, except for sort of doing Preferential Treatment out of order because it took me a bit to realize that if I made the window bigger it would show what to try (the error message was truncated and not viewable). Then, rather than trying iDVD again, I tried to use Toast to back up the computer to avoid having to pay for that in case what the Apple repair folks do would necessitate an overdue (and if done by them costly) backup. Toast crashed with remarkable similar messages:
The drive reported an error: Sense Key = ILLEGAL REQUEST Sense Code = 0x30, 0x05 CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM – INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT
The drive reported an error: Sense Key = HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code = 0x44 INTERNAL TARGET FAILURE
The disk failed to be written.
Well, at least we have (so far) avoided the PBJ, in spite of having two wonderful children a year minus a week apart. (I'm afraid we did the adoption agency we used a disservice - we gave them our old non-Apple PC.)
    Thanks so much.

  • Hardware Error when burning a disc

I am trying to write data to a disc through Toast Titanium but once it gets to about half way done an error message comes up saying:
This drive has reported an error:
    Sense Key = HARDWARE ERROR

Could any one tell me what the problem is and how to fix it.

  • Adobe Encore. Hardware error (Sense Code 52100).

I tried to output a dvd and received the following error:Adobe Encore. Hardware error (Sense Code 52100). Please contact the hardware manufacturerer for more information.

Hardware errors are usually two things... bad media (try a different brand of disc) or a bad drive
A workaround... and to test your media and hardware
Set your Encore DVD/BluRay output to an ISO file or to a folder on your hard drive and then use the FREE Imgburn to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1322583 for notes on installing Imgburn WITHOUT any toolbar add-ons... Set Imgburn to use the slowest burn speed your drive and media will use... I set my burn speed to 1x and let Imgburn adjust to the actual minimum

  • Hardware error (Sense code23A00) - Now what should I do? Please advice...

    Hello,
I would like to burn a new project to a DVD. Encore is giving me the following message over and over: "Encore was unable to complete the operation because of a hardware error (Sense Code 23A00). Contact the hardware manufacturer.
Please advise me what the best next step is I can take...
My version of Encore (CS3) sits on a Windows XP SP2 machine that is newly installed (last week) and still squeaky clean. I don't know who the manufacturer of the DVD-drive is. It worked fine before, and it works fine with other DVD0-burning software now (I know that doesn't mean a lot).
I use Imation DVD+RW discs. Before my clean install I had CS2 and it worked fine with these DVD's.
I have read the "Things and Software to avoid when authoring for DVD-V" document. None of the points there really seemed to matter to me (I don't have any of the identified problems, and use Nero software, which it does not reference). One point that does raise some questions is #14: "Disable the Windows XP packet writing utility": when I click on properties for the DVD-drive there is no Recording tab. Is that an indication of something that might be wrong? I have also searched these forums and read all the postings I could find on similar sounding messages.
It now seems I have three options. Which would you advise?
    1. I can buy DVD's of another brandname, or not +RW. Interestingly enough, when I burn a DVD it goes through the process of acquiring all the data and checking transcoding settings, and then quits as soon as it really needs to start writing.
    2. I can buy and install another DVD-burner. What brand would you advise?
    3. I can tell Encore to create a DVD image ad then use Imgburn to burn said image to a DVD. Not a fan of this approach, I don't want to buy another program.
I can go any of these three roads. Perhaps there is a 4th option I have not thought of? I am kind of hoping someone will see my message and know exactly what the problem is... #1 is of course the easiest and cheapest option. Problem is none of the solutions guarantee success...
I would really appreciate any input you might be able to give me! Thanks in advance,

    >...and use Nero software, which it does not reference.
    The
Things and Software to avoid when authoring for DVD-V
    FAQ does mention Nero:
    5. InCD: This is packet writing software that comes bundled with Ahead Nero Burning Rom. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove programs, then reboot to remove it.
If your installation of Nero didn't include its packet writing part then this doesn't apply obviously.
    >...when I click on properties for the DVD-drive there is no Recording tab.
Could possibly be an indication that the drive isn't properly recognized by Windows. While you are in the Properties screen, what does it display as name for the drive?
