Encore CS4 and Pop-up bug?

I have tried to make Pop-up's with the new Encore CS4 using Photoshop files. Everything looks good in Encore but after writing the Blu-ray the Pop-up's are unclean, that means for example fonts looks damaged... am i something missing or is it a bug?

What is your project settings in Encore? What is the settings of Pop up menu you created in Photoshop? Please create the popup menu of same size as Encore project size and then try.

  • Change Background in Menu Creation  Encore CS4 and Photoshop

I am creating a menu using Encore and Photoshop. I Used the Encore Libray to create a blank background and also created a series of buttons adusting them in Photoshop CS4. However, when I try to change the background with a new jpg or psd file I open the picture in Photoshop but not as the new background layer  I am trying to achieve. Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong?

    Dear Bill,
Thank you for your prompt reply. However, I don't think I am explaining my problem correctly so if you have the patience I am sending you this little "Jing" movie which will show you my problem

Subject: Change Background in Menu Creation  Encore CS4 and Photoshop
There should be no problem when adding the image of your choice, with Edit in Photoshop.
When you choose Edit in Photoshop, several things happen:
1.) a TMP PSD for that Menu is created.
2.) links are created between En and PS
3.) PS is launched, and that TMP PSD is then Opened in PS.
When one has edited that TMP PSD in PS, they must do a Save to allow those links back to En*.
If you are doing a Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy, those links will NOT be followed, and the Menu will NOT update in En.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
I have encountered some instances, where a single Save does not follow those links. With experimentation, I have found that 3 Saves (Ctrl+S) will force those links to be followed, and the Menu updated in En. Not sure why this happens sometimes, but 3 seems to be the "magic number," at least for me.

  • Encore cs4 and preminfo.dll error msg

    Hi,
when I launch encore cs4, during the loading appear an error message about preminfo.dll: "the application has failed to start because preminfo.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
when I choose ok on error advice, the encore start without problems.
anybody know how to fix the problem?
best regards and merry chritmas for all

When there are missing, or corrupted .dll's and other elements, a Repair Installation usually does correct these issues. That is basically what the error message is saying.
To do a Repair Installation, on inserts the installer DVD, and then, once it has initialized, you can choose the application(s) from the list in the suite. The installer will survey and if it finds an installation, of say Encore, will pop up another screen, allowing one to choose Uninstall (do not choose this one, at least not yet), and Repair Install. This is the one to choose, and then the installer will again survey the system, concentrating on that app and any common files. It will replace any missing ones, or corrupted ones.
I've only had to do it once, but for most of the CS2 Production Studio, with Encore. Seems that I had installed PrElements well after the Production Studio. PE broke almost everything in the suite, and a Repair Install took care of every program in the suite.
As for that link, it's probably from the old forum. All of those links are now dead with the new forum. Even Google, etc., will yield the old links, which are all dead. Someday, as the old fora are being reconstructed, maybe the Google 'bots will update with the new links. Has not happened yet, but we can only be patient and wait.
Stanley Jones has done a lot of work trying to find the new links to many of the old articles. I do not know how far along in that project, he is, but will say that Neil Wilkes and Jeff Bellune have done a good job of getting our FAQ's back up. Hear! Hear!
    Good luck,

  • Jerky playback of Blu Ray with Encore CS4 and Mac

I was very pleased by the fact that I created a Blu Ray disk on my first try...however, the footage plays back very jerky...almost like the frame rate dropped by half...I am using DVCPro 720p footage and compressing in two ways...1st did it in Media Encoder using the both 264 and mpeg 2 for blu-ray, and chose the proper format for 720p. Then I let Encore compress it using the automatic option...on all tries the video is playing back extremely jerky. I am also burning to re-writeable Blu Ray disks and playing back on PS3...anyone know what might be the problem?
    Thanks.
    Chad Campbell

I did the same thing 720p 60p shot on a panasonic p2. I used final cut studio to co press to a mpeg-2 blu-ray stream and then build the blu-ray in encore cs4, it played back smoothly no dropping of frames or any other issues. That might solve your problems.
    I use a mac pro.

  • Subtitle problems with Encore CS4 and BD/Blu-ray -- here is a solution!

Do you have problems with subtitles: for example they vanish completely after doing fast forward or turn them off and on again. Then here you can find one possible solution.
I am using Windows Vista 32bit. Thus Encore CS4 is the last version which I can use. Because Adobe will never provide a solution for this version, I was looking for another solution.
At least I found a workaround for my subtitle problems.
Now I am doing the following steps:
    1. Create the blu-ray disk in a folder without subtitles
    2. Create the subtitles with a program like "subtitle workshop"
    3. Save the subtitles in the .srt format.
    4. Use the program SubConverter Express v1.5.0 to convert the subtitles in the .sup format. Here you must choose a suitable font & font size.
    5. Add the .sup to the blu-ray folder structure with the program BDFix Express v1.7.3. When doing that, you can also choose the language i.g. "deu" for german. You will find a detailed description in the forum on www.defsoft.com. It is very easy to understand.
    6. BDFix will create a new folder with all necessary files to burn a blu-ray disk. Nothing changes in comparison to the folder which was createt by Encore except that subtitles were added.
    7. You can burn this folder with a tool like imgburn.
With this workaround you will have the following advantages:
    1. It seems that these subtitles were added in a blu-ray specification conform way. Fast forward/backward, switching on/off, chapter jump still work perfectly.
    2. The subtitle fonts are rendered in a much more smooth way than Encore does.
    3. The 5 frames gap between subtitles is not longer necessary.
    4. This solution ist quite fast (about 20 minutes for a 25 GByte disc).
    5. You can use these programs also for other blu-rays to add or remove subtitles.
    6. You do not need Encore to add/change or remove subtitles. You can do that also years later. You only need the burned blu-ray disc.
To be honest, there is one disadvantage:
    - The two programs (SubConverter & BDFix) cost about 200 US Dollar. But to cure my nerves that was worth it.
Hint: You can do a first test with the freeware versions. But there are two limitations. SubConverter can only import 30 subtitle lines and BDFix will only create 3 minutes of subtitles.
    Greetings,
    Ralf

FLV and F4V use different codecs for Flash video. H.264 in case of F4V and On2 VP6 for FLV. There's a difference of bitrate between different quality presets. You can check the bitrates of files generated using some tool. Your video might be very static to feel the different be the two quality settings.
F4V is the new format and need a newer version of Flash Player. Please update your Flash player and try again to play the F4V files.
Playstream doesnt support F4V format. You can only export FLV files to Playstream.
It might also be an issue of low bandwidth while playing a streaming video. Are you playing is locally or from a web server.

  • Encore CS4 and NVIDIA issues (known?)

    Hi
Have a look at these screenshots (corrupt graphics as bars in the middle of picture):
    http://www.geohei.lu/downloads/temp/Encore_gfx1_bug.jpg
    http://www.geohei.lu/downloads/temp/Encore_gfx2_bug.jpg
I have a NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics card with latest drivers (196.21) installed. When using Adobe Encore CS4, I have these Encore parts breaking through other windows, i.d. if Encore is in background and working, parts of the Encore progress bar, which runs behind other windows, builds up on top of other application's windows.
I have quite a lot of software installed on that machione but no software ever does this effect.
I tried to change all possible settings (there are 14 settings to tweak in 3D settings) withing the NVIDIA drivers, but no joy. Same effect.
Is this an Encore issue (so I can give up) or an NVIDIA problem (shall I try older drivers?)?
    Is there a workaround?
This is a mess like it is now ...
    Thanks,

    There's a 196.34, it's a beta and works nice in my GeForce 295 (I know it's bit newer)
I think you probably had to keep tight your 2008 october dated driver due to the age of your videocard, usually new drivers are mainly for new cards, do not have any sensitive effect with old one, but, who never knows................... you could try.
In Italy we say "have you done 30?, then you can do 31"

  • Problem with Encore CS4 (and Windows 7, possibly)

    Greetings:
Anybody else having this problem? First I'll get my system blood work out of the way. It's a brand new HP Pavillion.
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
    8GB RAM
    Over 700GB of FREE harddrive
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5 GHz
Video Chip Set: Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset
I have ensured that everything is updated. This includes:
    All CS4 Applications
    Windows 7
    My Graphics Card Driver
    My Display Driver
I have also updated the Roxio PX Engine to V4.18.16a. I had read on a forum that Encore uses this driver and it should be up to date.
OK, the problem, which I can reproduce with the simplest Encore project:
    1.     Start Encore
    2.     Create a new project - specify DVD - everything else id default.
    3.     Create a timeline
    4.     Import asset. It is a simple Standard Video AVI file, 720x480.
    5.     Select timeline for editing
    Here's what happens:
    A) Monitor window behaves normally. I can click play and watch the imported video. Sound is fine, everything is fine. I can start and stop the play back freely. All is well.
    B) Now, I can do a number of things to create the problem I am having. The simplest is to just go to the timeline editor, select the AVI asset that has just been there, running fine, and remove it from the time line. At this point, the monitor window's internal frame that used to represent the video view port area, disappears. By "disappears", I mean that the Monitor window goes to the background color which is used for empty, unused window regions. What had been there before was a jet-black frame representing the video view area
Now, if I go to the project window and re-select the AVI asset that I was just viewing and put it BACK into the timeline, the Monitor does not restore. If I play the timeline, the monitor is still blank, although I can hear sound.
In addition to this, I also find that Encore has slowed so that response to the simplest operation is extremely slow. It doesn't crash, although, it might if I hang around long enough - but I don't. If I shut down Encore and restart it, it will work OK until I start manipulating video assets again and then the same thing will happen.
I should mention that, yes, I have this new computer but I was using Encore on an older and much slower XP system with less memory and drive space and I had no trouble with encore. I should also point out that the AVI assets that I use to produce this problem are the same ones I had used successfully on the older system.
Is there anyone out there that would find this problem familiar? Anyone find a solution?
Thanks in advance to anyone that responds.

    Hi John:
Thanks but, I had already done this. I was having THAT problem with Encore (could not even initialize before tanking) when I first installed it and that's when I updated the Roxio engine. I don't know what else there is to update or correct at this point.
There was one thing that occurred to me: When I was using XP, I had to disable Open GL in order to get Encore to stabilize. I've heard one recommendation for Encore that one must disable graphics acceleration. I would like try that here except I can't figure out how to do that in Windows 7.
I've been Googling "Windows 7 Disable Graphics Accel" and have come up with nothing useful.
Thanks for your help though and if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

  • FW CS4 and Kuler keyboard bug

OK, so I really hope that this is just my machine acting up,
but I have been able to reproduce this bug, and I just want someone
else to confirm it for me.
I have a 16 page FW CS4 PNG, each page has a single bitmap on
it, and when I open the Kuler panel and type in the search box,
every time I hit shift-F the current page being displayed gets
cleared. All of the contents (bitmaps and any drawn vector objects)
get deleted (and no cap-F appears in the Kuler panel search field.)
I cannot type a capital F in Kuler, and when I do, the page
currently displayed is completely cleared. Somehow the shift-F is
being heard by FW outside of the Kuler panel, and for some reason
shift-F is deleting all objects on the current page.
Am I nuts? Does anyone else see this happening? I've closed
and re-started FW, I've rebooted (Win XP SP3), and I've tried
different files - it still happens.
    Weird...
    Dave

Shift + F creates a new Empty State.
Open States Panel and it's likely that's what you are seeing.
Your Page, that your though was erased, should still be there
as well. Just remove the empty State or make State 1 the active
    one.

  • Encore CS6 and loop point bug

    Hello,
does anyone know if the new Encore has fixed the black video, or unwanted pauses, (that happened playing loop point menus) of a BluRay disc burnt with the previous versions CS5 and CS5.5?
    Thanks in advance
    Giorgio

Actually I one of each. My rendering crash is with blu-ray, and my motion menu playback going to black is for a DVD.
I called tech support and they want money to work on non install issues.
One support person on the forum asked me to attach the dump file, yet this forum does not have a way to do so.
One support person listed his e-mail address but it is incorrect.
Only quick solution is to go back to CS5.5.

  • Encore CS4 Missing Frames/Stops Starts  and Blue Screen Crashes During Playback

I'm opening Premiere Pro CS4 with the default presets of HDV Capture, HDV 1080i30 software only mode. I'm capturing from my Canon HV20 using firewire HDV out 1440 x 1080. All goes well during the editing process but when I Dynamic Link and playback in Encore CS4 I observe dropped frames or stop and starts in Encore timeline sequence. At times I may even crash Encore with a Blue Screen. While still running Encore I can go back to Premiere Pro and play the timeline sequence with no issues. I will mention that I have the Matrox RT.X2 installed. But when starting a project I'm doing software only and disabling RT.X2 hardware playback. If I remove all effects in the timeline sequence and then Dynamic link to Encore the playback is normal with no effects. I did exported the Premiere Pro CS4 project using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 with a setting of MPEG 2 Blu-ray 1440 x 1080i 29.97 High Quality. I than import this MPEG2 back into Adobe Encore CS4 and it plays without dropping frames or hang-ups.

    Try to remember this:
Encore "Tries" to playback from premiere pro.  If you have a full set of previews available, it will play those, but you are probably seeing a lot of dropped frames and choppy video if your previews in premiere are set pretty low.  What you can do to combat this--in my experience--is export your video from premiere into a whole file in full format (in a non-lossy format with full frames, and in it's proxy equivalent;  I use Prores LT for many projects, and export that as a final output from premiere), then have that encode in an h.264 format (which will maximize smooth motion and quality playback).  Now... ...In your encore project, you should be outside of your original formats and in the intermediary that encore will recognize, so you should have it "Locate transcoded file".  Once you have done so, it will playback that movie in the preview.  I've done it.  With CS6 and 4gb ram with a vidcard at 256mb and a core2duo 2.16ghz, it plays fine.  With CS4 the encoding takes a while, and if you go to dvd, even longer for compression to work properly.  I use Compressor to output AVCHD .264 stream and an AC3 file.  When I locate the transcode for BD, I locate the .264 file first, then I get asked for the AC3 file.  This allows me to import them both, and have Encore encode them into the transport stream without transcoding.  I use Distributed processing to get the job done quickly, as I have minimal access to several computers and have connected them by that method for a Render Farming setup.  It works well.  With a hardware based device playing back your files, you won't see the same performance in Encore.  It has to make two hops already to get to your video, and adding a third (goes from encore to Premiere, then to codec, then plays normally;  third step is to external hardware, which eats up processing like crazy when it has to come all the way back to an encoding output to screen through encore, adding more steps for the system along the way) really can slow down the performance in Encore.  IF you take the Steps out by encoding a finished playback stream, Encore will handle it quickly with it's own processing.  It really does work well.  If you don't like it, make your changes in Premiere, then re-encode with your hardware and make an h.264 file for encore again.  You can use AME, but you'll always get standard Blu-ray (old file-stream format; lesser res and quality).  You can use Compressor to make AVCHD which allows for 264 output that is PSF or progressive that is interpreted as simultaneous fields (fake interlace), or even solid progressive formatting for AVCHD compatible players, and you can render-farm it to speed up the encoding process.

  • Encore CS4 loads 10% and STOPS! help please

I'm a high school student working on a dvd for my school's battle of the bands (it's over 2 hours long counting the concert itself and interviews with the bands), i'm quite adept with Adobe software and have been using it for some time. The project file is massive and i've been able to get all of my footage into Adobe Encore CS4 and make the menu. Now when I try to open the project, it loads 10% and stops, freezes, and will not respond. The computers here are Dell's running Windows XP and i have a feeling they're from about 2005-2007. Could this be due to the computer I'm working on? Or possibly a problem with Encore? I also have a feeling that I might need administrative authority on the computer to be able to work on a file in Encore that's as massive as this.
Please help me in any way you can, I've been working on this project for months and would like to finally finish it.

    Welcome to the forum.
Both PrPro and Encore really, really want to be run under an Administrator account. That would be my first guess, but something puzzles me - you had been working in Encore with this Project in the past. Did your IT department change your account?
As a test, can you launch Encore and choose New Project? If so, set that up with a few Imported test Assets. Add a Menu from the Library and Link the Assets - Preview. Does everything work OK?
Next, where are your Assets stored, the ones for your Battle of the Bands Project? Are they on a networked drive, a USB external, etc.? Those can be an issue.
Last, tell us a bit about your Assets (especially your AV files), and also how you Imported them, i.e. as Timelines, or as Assets, to be dragged to Timelines. Are your AV files muxed, i.e. containing both the Audio and the Video, or are they elemental/elementary streams (Video-only in one file and Audio-only in another)?
I'm hoping that there is nothing wrong with the Project itself, as Encore does not have the capacities for "saving" a corrupt Project, that PrPro does.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Encore CS4 freezing up on import and build

Using Encore CS4 and having problems in two different projects. In one, Encore freezes up when I attempt to import a large asset (it's a 1.4GB MP4 file). There is nothing else in the project - I'm trying to get started with it.
In a different project, everything goes well until I attempt to build the project, at which time Encore is once again freezing. In this project, I have two AVI files placed one after another and a single, very simple image as a menu - nothing fancy.
I'm running Vista with 2GB of RAM.
    Thanks in advance.

    robhuddles,
I'll assume that you are Exporting from PP CS4, as Encore CS4 is only bundled with it.
    Try a "test":
Export as DV-AVI (Video only), and PCM/WAV 16/48 (Audio only). Import the DV-AVI as a Timeline and the WAV as an Asset. Place the WAV on the Timeline with the DV-AVI. Link your Menu to it. I'd alter the "test" Menu, so there is only one Button and it Links to the Timeline. Set End Action of Timeline to Return to Menu. Check for errors, then Burn this "test" to a DVD RW. Does this work?
Note: I would start a new clean Project. You can Import>As Menu, your existing Menu, but DO modify it for this "test," so there is ONLY one Button. You do not want un-linked Buttons in the "test."

  • Encore CS4's Slideshow component= WORTHLESS

    Hi,
When I create slideshows in Adobe Encore CS4 and then build them, they look "fine" when played on a computer DVD player.
However, when playing the authored DVD on an actual DVD player attached to a TV, the playback is cropped, images come out extremely dark, and each song flickers at the start of the slideshow.
I've done a lot more testing of building slideshows in Adobe Encore CS4, before I came to this realization:
ADOBE ENCORE CS4 IS FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR WAYS OFF FROM BEING READY FOR PRODUCTION USE FOR SLIDESHOWS. DO NOT USE ADOBE ENCORE CS4 FOR ANY SORT OF ACTUAL PRODUCTION USE FOR SLIDESHOWS.
I am extremely frustrated how obvious that there was absolutely no quality assurance testing with Adobe Encore CS4. When you use Adobe Encore CS4, the whole feel of using the software is that it was totally rushed out the door at about 55% complete.
    My top complaints:
-When importing multiple images to the Encore library, occasional images do not get imported at all(WTF???????????????)
-images that are imported to the Encore library occasionally LOSE THEIR ORIGINAL ASSET when saving, closing, then re-opening a project.
-Encore CS4 slows down literally, exponentially, as you add a lot of images to the library. At about 500 images of about 3-4 megs each, my Core 2 Quad with 6 gigs of ram slows to a crawl.
-when in the slow state, Adobe Encore CS4 crashes randomly (and this slow state is when most of the slideshow editing needs to get done)
    -authored playback is cropped
-authored playback comes out extremely dark on DVD players
-99 slide limit, which is overcome by dividing the slideshow into two slideshows, but.. there is a long and awkward pause when shifting between two slideshows during playback
Using Adobe Encore CS4 for slideshows is gauranteed to leave an extremely bad user experience and some loss of respect for Adobe.
I have no choice but to learn what other DVD slideshow building software is out there. So far, Nero, and even Windows Movie Maker, which comes free with windows seems better than Adobe Encore CS4, in terms of building slideshows.

I've been using Adobe Encore CS4 to author Blu-Ray discs with slideshows on my iMac.  I've found a solution that seems to work well.  But I don't use the Encore slideshow editor for this purpose.
When I import high-quality 16:9 JPEG photos directly into Encore and build a slideshow using the Encore slideshow editor, the results are terrible when viewed on a big-screen HDTV connected to a Blu-Ray player.  The colors seem off, and the resolution is horrible.  There are all sorts of jagged edges and other artifacts.  A slideshow on a standard-definition DVD built using iPhoto and iDVD looks much better than a "high-definition" Blu-Ray slideshow built using the Encore CS4 slideshow feature.
A better solution is to simply build the slideshow in iPhoto, cropping the individual photos to 16:9 (or using the 16:9 setting on your digital still camera, if it has one), and export the iPhoto slideshow as a high-definition QuickTime movie file (*.mov).  You will have to play around a bit to find the option in iPhoto that allows custom export settings, but once you find it you can encode the entire slideshow using the H.264 codec with full 1920 x 1080 resolution.  Then you can import the resulting *.mov file into Encore as an asset, then create a timeline for it.  You basically treat it like a movie in Encore.  The final result looks great on my 1080p TV.  Breathtaking, in fact.
Encore CS4 for Mac seems to have lots of bugs in it.  For example, I just downloaded the latest update yesterday (I think it was 4.0.1).  Now, whenever I try to build a Blu-Ray project, I get an error message, no matter what I do.  Even if I start a new project from scratch.  So I had to use Apple Time Machine to restore the previous version of Encore (4.0.0.258), which works fine.
Another bug is that you can't change the title of an HD menu in Encore.  Encore has a very limited number of HD menus.  If you want to change the title of an HD menu from the generic one provided ("Our Travel Diaries", for example) to your own title ("Our 2009 Summer Vacation", for example), you can't do it in Encore.  Well, maybe YOU can.  But I can't figure out how to do it.  So I export the menu to Photoshop Elements, change the text there, and re-import it into Encore.  You can change the titles of buttons directly in Encore.  But not the actual menu title.
Also, Encore has caused trouble for me when I try burning Blu-Ray rewritable discs.  So I simply use Encore to create a *.iso image file, then burn it using Roxio Toast 10 Titanium.
Anyway, with these various workarounds, I'm finally able to create high-quality Blu-Ray discs with movies and slideshows that look great on my 60-inch Sony SXRD 1080p TV.
It's a shame that somebody doesn't produce a simple interlocking suite of consumer-grade Mac-compatible tools that can be used for the entire HD workflow from camera to Blu-Ray disc, similar to the way in which iMovie, iPhoto, and iDVD work for standard-definition DVDs.  Apparently, the latest version of Adobe Premiere Elements for Windows does this sort of thing.  But there's nothing equivalent for the Mac.  And Apple still seems to be dragging its feet with regard to Blu-Ray.
Some people have expressed the opinion that it's OK for Encore CS4 to include a slideshow editor that's essentially useless.  I tend to disagree.  Any significant feature that gets added to a piece of software and that's advertised as being useful ought to work at least reasonably well.  But then my background is in the hardware industry, not the software industry.  In hardware, even a minor glitch can cost a company millions of dollars in lost revenue, recalls, loss of customer confidence, etc.  Software designers, by contrast, seem to be able to get away with a degree of sloppiness that would quickly bankrupt a company in the hardware world.
However, I'm at least grateful that by using Encore CS4 in conjunction with Final Cut Pro, Compressor, iPhoto, Photoshop Elements, and Toast, I'm able to produce a very nice Blu-Ray disc that provides jaw-dropping picture and sound quality for movies and slideshows.

  • Premiere CS4 to Encore CS4 Export  Quality Problems

I recently purchased a non-linear editing machine with an RTX2 Matrox Card and CS4 Professional. After six or seven projects, I finally noticed that all my imported .avi files exported through Adobe Media Encoder and burned through Encore CS4 are not as crisp, sharp, or look like the original high quality SD footage after the DVD is burned like it always used to look in CS2. ( jumped from CS2 to CS4)
These DVDs were of plays, football, and basketball games. It seems that when the camera shoots a close up, the video looks fine but after you shoot from a distance, there is a considerable difference in the footage. ( alomost blurry) I just caught this and nobody has complained but I watched one of my older DVDs I produced with CS2 and it had no quality loss whatsoever. There is a night and day difference
For the sequences, I am using Matrox SD, NTSC, Standard, 720 x 486  and capturing with firewire through the Matrox card. The raw footage is beautiful. The Video Preview Option is NTSC Standard and the Codec is NTSC Matrox DV/DV Cam.
I can playback a timeline from the Matrox card and burn directly to a DVD burner and the footage is perfect, but when I export, I have chosen Microsoft .avi file, Matrox DV/DV Cam/ MPEG2, and MPEG2DVD.
I have even changed the sequences codec to Matrox MPEG-2 I-Frame and tried exporting using that out of Adobe Media Encoder and am getting the same results.
None of my customers have complained yet, but I definitely do not want to continue producing almost blurry DVDs.
I am using Adobe Premiere CS4 Version 4.1.0 and Encore CS4 Version 4.0.1.048 and Matrox Version 4.1.0.23
Can this problem be related to and eliminated by updating my CS4 Production Suite and my Matrox Software.
I was wondering if anyone had experienced this same issue and what solution they came up with or if anyone knew if the updates would correct this important issue. I just filmed a lengthy play that I have to author through Encore CS4 and I cannot release any more of my productions until this problem is solved. This is a big dollar production and I need some assistance on this matter as soon as possible. Thanks  Jimi White

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I just purchased my non-linear with CS4 Production Suite and the Matrox RTX2. I have several projects that I am working on right now and I was advised by Adobe, Matrox, and my non-linear vendor, 1 Beyond, to finish those projects before performing updates.
I also found out that If I export using the MPEG2  8Mbps, it cleared up the video dramatically. We had to go through a number of export presets in order to find out what worked best in Encore. I am going to try to finish the project now and will advise on the results.
This is a basketball highlight DVD and that's when I noticed the problem. My other productions were photos to music, and non sporting events and I didn't notice any problems with those DVDs ( they actually looked decent. Worst part about it was, I finished the project once and burned 18 DVDs, and then reviewed one of them and found the problem. I have to start over and just eat the DVDs printed and all.
Thanks again, it was nice of you to get back to me.

  • Export To Flash in Encore CS4 on the Mac

It has been widely reported (and I have confirmed) that Encore CS3 will not Build to Flash on a Mac running Leopard 10.5.5 and Quicktime 7.5.5 (the latest versions of Mac OS X and Quicktime). I would be most appreciative if anyone who has received Encore CS4 can determine if Build To Flash works on a Mac running OS 10.5.5 and Quicktime 7.5.5.
Thank you in advance for responding.
    Tom

Since no one has responded to my post on this issue, I can now provide the answer. First however, I want to insert the final comment in a long customer service request that I have had running with Adobe Technical Support since early August on this issue.

    Hello Tom,
Thank you for contacting Adobe® Web Support for assistance with Adobe
    Encore® CS3.
I understand that you are not able to export as flash from Encore CS3.
On my Mac, I have OS 10.5.5, and QuickTime 7.5.5. I tested this issue
with Encore CS3 and CS4. The export worked just fine on CS4, but again
failed on CS3. I spoke with Adam, and a few others around, and were not
quite sure why he was able to get this to work. I am 100% certain that
using the same workflow, his Mac is able to handle this process, but
none of the others I was able to try this on could. As far as I am
concerned, his ability to perform this export is a fluke, and cannot be
    reproduced through known methods.
However, the issue is resolved in the CS4 release, so you should be all
set to do your flash exports once you get your upgrade.
I hope this information helps to resolve your issue. If you require
further assistance with this issue, please update your web case with
complete details, including what steps you have applied and any error
    messages you are receiving.

Now let me post my response:

    Joshua E.,
Thank you for your clear response to the issue of not being able to Build to Flash using Encore CS3. I can confirm the 100% accuracy
of everything you have said by adding my own experiences of the last 48 hours with Adobe Production Premium CS3 and CS4.
Two days ago I purchased the new Macbook Pro (Intel 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM). Immediately after setting up the Macbook Pro and getting i
t operating, I installed Adobe Production Premium CS3 (and all updates to CS3 Production Premium) on this brand new Macbook Pro. No
other software outside of the Mac OS 10.5.5 (and all updates to it) had been installed on this Macbook Pro. I then opened Premiere
CS3, placed 10 seconds of bars and tone in the timeline, and directly exported this to Encore CS3. I then selected Build To Flash.
Once again Encore CS3 froze at the "transcoding video" step and would not progress beyond 20%. This is the exact same behavior I
had on my Mac Pro 8-core machine and reported in this thread.
I then installed Adobe Production Premium CS4 on my Mac Pro 8-core. I followed the above step with the exception that apparently di
rect export from Premiere Pro CS4 to Encore CS4 is no longer available. I simple exported the Premiere Pro 10 second timeline to a
Quicktime .mov file using the Export>Media command in Premiere Pro CS4. I then took this .mov file into Encore CS4 and without bui
lding any menus, selected Build To Flash. The Build to Flash occurred perfectly with no problems at the "transcoding video" step or
    any other step.
Needless to say, I am very pleased to see that Adobe has corrected the problems with Build to Flash in CS4 on a Mac. However, this
problem had been well reported in numerous forums (including the Adobe Encore Forum) on the web as far back as six months ago, and
I am saddened to see that Adobe did not feel it was worth the effort to repair the issue with Build To Flash in CS3 on a Mac that w
as apparently caused by an upgrade to Quicktime that Apple released sometime after Quicktime 7.3.1. I cannot expect Apple to addres
s issues with Adobe software caused by their Quicktime upgrades. I do, however, expect Adobe to see that their software runs on the
latest editions of both Mac OS X and Quicktime. Otherwise, as happened with Encore CS3 and Build to Flash on a Mac, the customer bu
ys the software expecting it to work and it does not. We are in a tough economy now. I need the software from Adobe that supports
my media production company to work, and I don't need Apple and Adobe pointing the finger at each other when it does not. I hope th
at you will pass this message along to senior Adobe management.
I do thank you for telling me your observations on Build To Flash with a Mac under Encore CS3.
    Tom
