ENCORE CS4 Crashing Computer??

My ENCORE CS4 is crashing the computer each
time I send a rendered project to it from Premier CS3 or CS4.  I have installed the Production Suite two times in hopes of fixing the issue. Nope!
Any suggestions, Please...
Also does any one who may read this Post have a suggestion for a 3rd party software OR hardware which will allow Premier to process HDV in and out from a SONY HDV camera product???  Right now, all inputs; both DV and HDV default to DV on Capture from a 1080i/60 input.
Advanced Thanks,
Larry

all inputs; both DV and HDV default to DV on Capture from a 1080i/60 input.
Here's the thing.  Premiere has no ability to convert during Firewire capture.  It's a straight bit for bit transfer from tape to hard drive.  So if Premiere is only capturing DV, then either the media on tape actually IS DV, or the camera is set to downconvert to DV.

  • Encore CS4 crashes under Windows 7

Jeff – I hope this email method of getting a forum message up does work, as currently it’s impossible to sign in to the forums (just get an endless loop of flashing screens about signing in to the forums – great)
Anyway, I’m still trying to get CS2 up and running, and all I’m seeing is silly attempts by support and no progress since July.
My original case on this (#211070010) had the following action: 6th Aug I was sent a copy of CS4, which is useless as it can’t open my CS2 projects, which I reported. Then about 15th August I was asked if the CS2 fix I’d been sent had worked.  Since I hadn’t been sent anything I said ‘no’ and the case was then closed!
Then a new case (#184634426) was opened, and Support contacted me to ask what the problem was(!).  They then took over my PC one night and proved to themselves that CS4 didn’t work. They then downloaded Creative Suite CS3 to try Encore CS3 – the theory being that if CS3 could open CS2 projects, it could maybe save them in a format CS4 could open. Great idea, but what they installed was useless as Encore CS3 is in Production Suite, not Creative Suite. When they found that out, they gave up and disappeared and I’ve never seen them since, despite telling them they were looking in the wrong install package.
Anyway, I downloaded the right package, thinking I could try Encore CS3 on a 30-day trial, and if their theory worked, then good. If not I’m back to square 1 again.  BUT, even though I’ve said I want a 30-day trial, the stupid CS3 installer still wants a serial number, which I obviously don’t have.
So here we are again – 3 months down the track, a case open for over a month, nothing happening, and no end in sight.

    Jeff,
Encore CS4 crashes when I try and open Encore 2.0 projects with a meaningless error message that doesn’t tell me why it is crashing or how to fix the project to make it open it. And nobody can explain what the error message means or why it happens, so I have no clues as to how to address the problem.  I have used Encore CS4 to try and open all my old projects and basically if it’s a Premiere-only output file its happy, but if it’s an Encore-only built ‘slideshow’ project it will crash. Which means most of my projects won’t open.
I have also tried all the Adobe published tricks to fix ‘bad’ projects, which can change the error message to ‘Proxy stream does not support requested functionality’, which is also meaningless and no one can tell me what I should then do to address the underlying issue.
Encore CS3 may or may not work – I don’t know, as I can’t get it past asking for a serial number, even though I just want a 30-day test period to see if it can re-save the project to improve things for CS4
Encore DVD used to run fine before this stupid re-registering issue happened.
All this is on Windows 7 (yes, I know 2.0 isn’t ‘approved’ for Win7, but as I and many others have found, it runs fine).
I really don’t know why Adobe doesn’t just send us RegEdit instructions to turn on or off the bit that says ‘this program is registered’ and then we could all stop bothering you – it would be a much much simpler and cheaper fix for all of us, Adobe included, than all this farting around.

  • Encore CS4 crashes before opening

I noticed this when I tried to use dynamic link from Premiere Pro CS4 to Encore CS4. Encore crashed. I tried again. It crashed. I tried opening it from my start menu and it still crashed! Any ideas?
Here is a picture of the pop up I get:

  • Encore CS4 crash on render motion menus

When I first installed Encore CS4 (Windows 64-bit computer), it crashed every time I rendered my motion menus. I found a thread on this forum from 2009 that discussed this issue, and installed the Roxio patch (or whatever it was called)--that was the recommended solution. After that, render motion menus worked fine so I thought the problem was fixed.
But over the past few weeks, it has started happening again--intermittently at first. But today, every time I go to render a motion menu--with different PSD and MPEG-2 files--it crashes every single time. I am beyond frustrated.
What should I do? Since Encore has rendered motion menus fine for the past few months for me, I'm doubting that it's the Roxio issue. I read somewhere that profiles can get corrupted and can be reset. But I have no idea how to do that. So before I start screwing around with stuff, I figured I would come here and see if anyone has any ideas for me.
    Thanks for your help.

    Here's what I might try.
Start new project (probably after restarting my machine for good measure).
Open a library menu with motion.
    Render. Does that work?
If so, I'd look a bit harder at the motion assets. Try an old project that worked, and bring those assets into a new project for motion.
I'd try reinstallng the roxio patch, if it fixed this before. (I don't think was what it was intended to fix, but I wouldn't argue.)
If none of that works, I'd consider a repair install. See number 1 here:

  • Premiere and Encore CS4 crashes and issues on Toshiba Laptop

I have a Toshiba Qosmino Laptop, 4 GB ram, Windows XP Sev pac 3, Nvida Gforce 7300 video. new 7500 RPM Hard drive
The two programs that crash all the time are Premiere and Encore CS4
Premiere will start some times and sometimes not. I've tried a new projects, importing a CS3 project seems to make no difference. Takes approx 2-3 minuites to load. Click on a imported video clip or timeline and crash.
Encore crashes "EVERYTIME"... tried to import from Premiere into Encore.. when the timeline is clicked in Encore it crashes everytime. Tried a new project in Encore same problem. Started Encore alone and same problem... first click and crash.
I'm not getting a blue screen just the Adobe crash report screen asking me to send a report... have done that many times.
    Things that I have tried:
Had CS3 (BTY it ran fine)
Uninstalled CS3 and uninstalled CS4. Reinstalled CS4 same problems.
    Defrag hard drive....
    Reinstall CS4
Updated video drivers to latest version
    Reloaded older video drivers
Did MSCONFIG and stropped all unneeded processes
All the rest of the CS4 programs open and run fine.
    Any help is appreciated!!

Sounds like a problematic video driver or codec issue. You need to update all your drivers and try again. Also get rid of any unnecessary codecs. Try opening files in various formats and see if the same happens. Also you should search the KnowledgeBase, it contains a lot of information about this kind of problem.

  • Adobe Encore CS4 crashes during Render Progress

After creating entire menu without any problems ( there is occasional encore system crash...) I go to File and then Render Project. Rendering process start with rendering of my audio file and then it goes to "Rendering menu" and crashes every time! I called technical support but after couple of hours i was told to give it a rest and try call them next day... I have bought CS4 back in June 09 and it was running kinda good, I had a system crash from time to time but never a problem with rendering. Now it will not even render my old projects that I have successfully burnt in the past. I get the same error every time; " Adobe Encore has encounter an error. [..\Port\PhotoshopObject.cpp-568] " and after clicking on "continue" button Encore disappears... I have formatted my "C" drive reinstalled windows vista64, reinstalled all software downloaded "new" file from adobe and reinstalled Encore again but the problem is still there. I also read some post about encore crashes and i even deleted my nvidia dll driver but Encore crashed as usual... Does anybody have any idea how to solve this?
    Thanks

    Well,
it seems you have run Encore in the past succesfully (more or less) and this is the first "big stop".
    I'd suggest few tips:
-have you recently update firmware, drivers of your video card or something else? If yes, I'd try the previous one, though I had to say that I'm working great with the newest beta 196.34 and my GTX 295.
    - It's just a menu render matter? or everything can't be rendered? (you probably know you can render every menus/assets one by one).
    Let's know

  • Encore CS4 Crashes all the time

I installed Adobe Production suite cs4 on my 8g
Dell Precision 690 system running Windows 7 Professional.
I love all of the other Adobe software and it runs rock solid.
Encore, however, usually crashes when I drag a video file
to the timeline.   (I noticed, also, that the video files appear
to have what looks like a corrupted looking icon with half
of the image taken up by a pixely looking green mosaic on
    the timeline.)
I have updated my version of encore and I have checked
quite a few of the crash threads.    I never really had
any 3rd party dvd burner software, so there was nothing
except the Windows 7 native programs capable of writing
    to the dmv.
I is it appropriate to attach the crash data?
Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.

Stan, yes -  I'm putting more than one M2v on the timeline, but even with one, it eventually
    crashes.
I tested the m2v output and it was "MPEG2-DVD pre-set: ntsc progressive widescreen high quality" with no other changes in the pre-set.    Encore did not like this output at all.  I have not yet tried your suggestion of importing it as a timeline vs. asset.
So far, the only output my installation of encore likes is MP4.   The "H.264 Blu-ray preset HDTV 1080i 29.97 high quality" output seems to be the most favorable to a stable encore environment for me, and I'm not sure what this says about my installation.  Updated Nvidia drivers.  Updated encore CS4.   Roxio fix in place.   I still don't know what is causing the problem.  My work around is to use the "H.264 Blu-ray preset HDTV 1080i 29.97 high quality" output.

  • Premiere & Encore CS4 crashing on exit

    Hey,
i just installed (twice..) Premiere Pro and Encore CS4 on a NEW computer running windows 7 x64.
Everytime i quit either PP or Encore, i got a message telling me to send report.

atv- I've experienced similar issues- usually when this happens to me is because I open a project with a lot of media and close it before all the media is loaded or when in a large project-one thing I've done to combat this problem is for big projects I usually start a new project when re-editing it later down the road and importing the sequences I need into the new proj rather than work in the same older project--
Please make sure when you are using prem or encore that you close any unneeded programs you have open as this sometimes creates problems
how much space do you have available on your c/program drive?

  • Encore CS4 Crashing On Motion Menu Render

Working with a blu-ray project that has a total of 19 motion menus.  While attempting to render motion menus, the program crashes and takes me to a crash report screen.  I get no error message; just a crash and report screen.
The crash seems random in terms of when it occurs during the render process, so I cannot seem to narrow it down to a particular menu or file.  This crash occures both when building the project as well as when I try and render the menus through File>Render>Motion Menus.
I can find very little on the cause online, thus am attempting to post here in hopes that someone can share with me some answer as to how to fix this issue quickly.

  • Encore cs4 crashes upon creating a new file

I recently purchased the Production Premium CS4 and when I try to run Encore or Premiere Pro, when I make a new file the program will quit and give me an Adobe crash submit screen.  I have tried chaging the sizes and types of the files I create, defragging the harddrive, reinstalling Encore and Premiere, installing updates, all to no success.  Any help would be appreciated.

Usually, the problems with Roxio are in relation to its DLA (packet-writing) module and Encore "seeing" one's DVD drive. In a Custom Install, one can choose to not install this (plus a little indexing/cataloging module). Usually, just the necessary parts of Roxio do not cause that many problems. However, uninstalling it, to do a Custom Install, can pose a problem, as the little tentacles seem to reach everywhere.
I have the full DivX package on my workstation, and the CODEC's on my laptop. To date, they have played fine with Encore2, though I do NOT use any material that uses that/those CODEC(s) as Assets - only for my conversion program to convert to DV-AVI Type II for work in PrPro, and to Export to DivX for streaming (again in PrPro). Does not mean that a more recent version of Encore might not have a problem with it.
Now, many games love to "hook" various aspects of a computer system, when they are installed. This is to wring the most performance out of the computer. This would be an area that I'd look at very, very closely. One place to start would be any fora for the particular games, and also reviews on gaming sites, that test and report. Look for any comments about games that need to boost the performance of any sub-system on the computer. Back in the later DOS/early Windows days, I had a separate boot disc for almost every game, because each needed RAM, and graphics managed in special ways. Now, the system requirements are so very much greater, than way back then. Would be worth an investigation.
Wish I had a "magic bullet" for your problem, but only see things to qustion and nothing that screams out at me.
Good luck and please report back,

  • Adobe CS4 crashing computer, Please Help!

Last week I purchased a refurbished Macbook Pro from Apple, spent the weekend transferring all my files over so I could be ready for work this week. I made sure to do a clean install of Adobe CS4, rather than pulling it over from my old computer with Migration Assistant. I went through and updated everything I could. Even so, my computer has completely crashed 4 times today while working in Adobe CS4 (screen goes completely black, have to hold down the power button to restart). I usually have Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Bridge open at the same time. This time I was working in Illustrator, placing an image when the computer screen went black. Below is part of the crash report

From my research, I thought that Adobe and Apple had straightened everything out with Snow Leopard and CS4, but it doesn't seem so for me. Is there anything I can do here to fix this issue? Just FYI, I did try to use the migration assistant from my old macbook pro (OS 10.4, Core 2 Duo 2.16ghz) and it would freeze with 22 minutes left. I ended up going in and having to delete the username, and manually pull over the files I needed from my old computer. I've always had good upgrade experiences with apple products, but the past 4 days have been incredibly frustrating. Things seem to be far less painless than they used to be... Any help/advice is very much appreciated!

An update to the issue posted. 5 minutes after I got done posting this topic, the computer hard crashed again. I wasn't running any Adobe CS4 programs, only Safari. I was opening the top-sites page in safari when it happened. So now I'm officially even more confused and frustrated. Once again, here is the crash report. Tonight I may wipe the computer and just start over. I have no idea what else to do.

  • Encore CS4 crashes when opening transcoded project

I have made previous dvds/blu-rays with these steps before, but I'm running into problems now, here is what I've done:
    1. Create new encore blu-ray project.
    2. Import everything and setup project.
    3. Burn project to dvd image.
    4. Burn project to blu-ray image.
The problem I'm having for my current project is after burning the dvd image, I decided to restart my computer before I made the blu-ray image, and now I can't open the project file.  It says something like "getting transcoding settings", and I can see all the assets show up in the asset list, but then it crashes.
I was not aware of this before, but apparently encore uses C:\Documents and Settings\%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Adobe\Common\Media Cache\ to hold temporary files.  I changed this location under the media encoder properties to use my D: drive.
I noticed that for every time I tried to load the project again, it would create a new set of temporary files in this folder (which took up a lot of space).  I use to think all the temporary files for the encore project were located in a folder within the directory of the encore project file, but I guess not.
Does anyone know anything I can try to get the encore project file to open????

Probably this is due to something cleared out of my suggestions.
Temp files are the one I meant in the previous thread.
When I do some "folishness" I usually clear this files and, after the first time it has to rebuild, every re-opening of the project takes just a min. max.
The names of the folders sound like a DVD project and not a BR one as you've said.
Have you right clicked over the files and choosing the option "change asset" (eighth line), connect the file to the missed one?
Anyway, no worries, I think that a good brand new project will fix everything.
Remember do not change Archive folder during a project, do it before.
    Ciao
    Giorgio

  • Encore CS4 crashes during build

I have a Blu-ray project setup in Encore. I've burned many versions of it to a BD Folder and also a BD-RE disc. Worked fine. But then Encore crashed. Now I can open the file but everytime I check the project or burn to a folder or a disc it crashes. Too much work to rebuild the project with subtitles so I am hoping for a workaround. I've seen lots of old (and mostly PC - I'm on a MAC) CS3 references to the same problem.
Oh, and by the way Adobe (if you're listening). It would be easy to rebuild the project if you could copy and paste subtitle tracks. You can copy and paste just about everything you do on a computer, but for some reason subtitle tracks are set in stone.
And I'm on a Mac Pro, Snow Leopard (and yes, I've built a disc since installing the upgrade), 4gb of RAM and an internal Apple RAID 5 hard drive array.

Thanks. Good advice, but already tried with no success. I thought that was for sure the problem. Here is that last ditch effort to find out what caused this to avoid it in the future. I had 10 timelines, all with subtitles. I needed those subtitles exported so I could rebuild a new project. I right clicked the subtitle track in each of the timelines and exported it as a txt file. It worked for 9 or the 10. On the 10th, it crashed as soon as I right clicked in the timeline. So I went a step further to isolate it. I trashed all the timelines except the problem one. within that timeline I deleted the audio and video so it is just the subtitle track. I deleted all my video and audio assets. So my project is now just a single timeline with only a subtitle track. I trashed the cache and reopened and still it crashes when I right click in the subtitle track.
I managed to rebuild the project successfully. This time I imported .mov movies rather than the transcoded files from Adobe Media Encoder. I decided maybe it was better to let Encore do the transcoding (this is for a Blu-ray project by the way). Anyway, it all works fine now.
My history with Encore on the Mac is that it is very unstable. I have to save a lot because you never know when it will crash. This goes back to CS3 as well.

  • Encore CS4 crashing

I bought Windows 7 & Premiere pro cs4 at the same time & have had too much trouble. When I boot encore or as transcoding the files, it always crashes. Why is it doing so?

    I haven't touched GoLive.

  • Encore CS4 crashes on start up win7

I had it running compatibility mode fine for a long time.  I recently had to restore the pc to original factory settings and reinstall the Adobe Suite again.  This time Encore prompts with "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer?"  I click yes and then nothing.  It doesn't stay in task manager.  Any ideas what to do?

    Install latest pxhelp from
    http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/kb/General%20Information/000070GN&PARAMS=
    This may fix this problem.
    Thanks,
