Encore CS4 Fails to Transcode
Guys the problem I already decided to freeze, but I have another problem, when I go to transcode some videos in encore cs4, it's transcode failed, someone help me? I'm using Encore CS3 to get to transcode.
You must provide step-by-step DETAILS of what you are doing, especially the files you are using and all of your project settings

Premiere Pro CS4 (which includes Encore CS4) Failed to install
HI everyone, I am trying to reinstall Premiere Pro (which also includes Encore CS4) since I seem to be having some problems with the Blu-ray authoring in Encore. I uninstalled Premiere Pro from the Add/Delete Programs in Win XP Pro Control panel. After uninstalling, I'm trying to reinstall Premiere Pro/Encore programs. However, I'm getting an "Error Code 2" for Dynamic Link, Encore CS4, Encore CS4 Codecs, and the Encore US Language Pack. Then the install stops and fails to complete the installation.
Anyone have any ideas what's happening here? My system specs are below. I don't know what's wrong in order to fix it.
~thanks, Gail

Not connected to internet. No anti-virus software, firewall, or internet/Lan connected or activated.
Internal 7200 hard drives.I'd just suggest to run CS4 clean tool one time or (better) twice, after uninstallation.

In this way you can clean register also.
Good choice to switch off antiviruses.
Take also a look to the disks, are they clean?

Encore CS4 crashes when transcoding
Hi,
I'm trying to get Encore to transcode all my videos (right click > transcode now). If I do them one at a time, it seems to work. However, if I attempt to add a bunch to the queue, I get an error that "transcode failed" or "can not create image buffer" or something like that. Then the whole program crashes. It doesn't just skip over the "bad" file, it stops. Kaput.
Am I missing something? Does this transcode queue actually work or should I expect to waste time doing them one by one?
thanks.
-karenYou need to be more specific about what sources you are actually using. Yes, transcoding is twitchy, but it varies greatly with different source types. Also, if you already previewed/ transcoded some project items, the cahce may be polluted. The common advise then is to manually empty the project cache and start out with a clean slate...

Forcing Encore CS4 not to transcode. Almost given up.
Hi everybody.
I'm at my wit's end here. My system specs are in my profile.
My source footage is 1440x1080 30P.
I've launched AME, and used the templates that closest match my source footage..AME successfully encoded the .m2v files. Again, these are templates that are automatic, and i haven't modified anything that would make Encore burp....
Playback was flawless on PowerDVD.
Unfortunately, Encore wants to transcode.
No matter what project setting i use in Encore, I cannot seem to keep her happy..This is only with BD projects of course.
With SD projects, the .m2v files don't need transcoding..
Searches in previous discussions yield no better results....Am i missing something??
I just can't believe how many hours i've lost with this CS4 package..I've lost more time trying to figure out WHY things don't work, then actually being productive....Sorry about the rant, but his doesn't seem right....AME hanging, Adobe Dynamic Link not working correctly with Encore, Preview on menus not responding etc...I mean, this isn't right..
I'm spent.Did you use automatic for the transcode settings in EN? Or you used the preset you describe?
I created a premade .m2v file, so the auto transcode is no good to me.
I ended up using an Encore preset to transcode the videos..Of course, i changed the bitrate to suit my needs..
What have you set as the maximum video/audio bitrate for this project? (Project settings, Advanced tab)
I have tried all of them...Encore still perceives the assets as untranscoded.
Try H264 BluRay, 1440x1080i 29,97 high quality and set audio to Dolby
Yes, but the transcode times go through the roof...I typically have about 2.5 hours of HDV footage...
Mpeg2 at 18 mbps give me satisfactory results...H264 is not necessary in my case..
Again, this is only with .m2v files that i use within templates that come with AME.
I've done extensive encoding in the past. Unless there's an anomoly (like GOP structure) that i'm missing, i'm at a loss.
As i use the friendly search functions, it's clear to see that I'm not the only one with this issue.
Thanks to everybody for their patience... -
Adobe Encore CS4 - Encore Failed
I recently had a problem with Adobe Encore CS4 with finalising a project to DVD, and to make a long story short I had my computer totally wiped and reinstalled all programs. The problem I now have is, I export a HDV file from Avid Media Cmposer and import it to Encore but when I try to Transcode it, I get a "Encode Failed" message.
I have tried other formats "Quick Time Movie" and "Quick Time Reference" which works fine, but I get a colour burst in the video which is not in the original footage and it only appears in Encore.
I appreciate any help to solve this problem. For CS4 you must update the Roxio component http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1309029

6 dvacore 0x058c87c9 boost::detail:I'm on Mac OSX Snow Leopard and I have the Adobe CS4 Master Collection updated to latest. I was using DVD Studio pro for a short project and I started to recreate the whole thing in Encore CS4 as I had more flexibility with Photoshop based menu system for the DVD.
I have a simple menu system created in Photoshop with the corresponding (+) naming for the layers. My menu has 4 text buttons, 1 logo layer and a background. I left all the text as text, didn't rasterize the text. ( I tried that after the crashes but with same bad result)
In Encore CS4 I imported the PSD file as a Menu Asset. I set up a video asset to loop as the background, and an audio asset to play.
I have 4 timeline assets with short videos.
I connected each button to the apropriate timeline to play.
At the end of each timeline I set up to go back to the Menu.
The Menu is set to Firts Play.
That't it.
When I go to Build I hit the Check Project and it tells me that I have 2 Orphan Menus. Now when I try to click on them Adobe Encore CS4 Crashes.
If I don't click on them and I hit Continue with Building, it starts transcoding but after a few minutes of trasncoding it crashes.
I found a long thread about the Orphan menu BUG Crash, but I didn't found a solution. I cleared my cache, I recreated the menu with rasterized text, but crashed again. I created a new menu system with buttons taken from the Library, the Orphan menu was not there anymore at Check Project, and the transcoding was building ok, but then after 30 minutes of trasncoding it crashed again.
Please help as I am frustrated with Encore CS4!!

Encore CS4 is transcoding compliant Blu-Ray audio assets when set to 'Do not transcode'
Hi there,
I have a Blu-Ray concert video project consisting of 3-menus, 4-sequentially linked timelines (intro-1, intro-2, main concert timeline, and credits).
All audio assets consist of 96k/24-bit WAV files from the same professionally rendered mastered audio source.
Here's the issue:
When importing my 96k/24-bit audio assets in Encore CS4, they all show as Blu-Ray compliant and maintain the 'Do not transcode' property in the assets menu.
However, after rendering the project to Blu-Ray I immediately noticed that the main concert timeline (2-hrs 10-min) had been transcoded down to 48k/16-bit while the other smaller intro/credits timelines had rendered correctly and were playing back at the desired 96k.24-bit rate.
In order to eliminate possible issues with the main timeline's audio file source, I created a smaller main timeline (35-min) using the exact same audio source files and lo & behold - the main timeline was not down-transcoded and is playing back at the desired 96k/24-bit rate.
I'm wondering if there is a non-documented limitation in rendering audio files over a certain size as my main timeline is made up of 2-total WAV files of 2.2Gb each.
I have the ability to import a single AIFF file at 4.4GB for the main timeline - but for some reason CS4 does not recognize AIFF files as Blu-Ray compliant and will show the transcode setting as 'Automatic'.
Imported AIFF files always showed as 'Do not transcode' in the Blu-Ray assets menu in Encore CS3 (even though there is a documented bug which prevents rendering AIFF audio to Blu-Ray and I would have to convert to WAV files and re-import anyway in CS3).
My next step is to try splitting the main timeline into shorter chunks, but this is not the direction I want to go in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-CheersOk, solved my own problem - solution below for those with similar issues.
1. My audio timelines exported from Final Cut Pro as AIFF are actually 'AIFC' which is technically not Blu-Ray compliant, thus Encore will need to transcode. Unfortunately - Encore has no quality preset settings for dealing with PCM audio transcodes higher than 48k/16-bit (why not?). Encore CS4 will happily pass 96k/24-bit through to a Blu-Ray build without transcoding if the supplied file is true AIFF (not-AIFC) and/or similarly compliant WAV files.
2. My main Encore timeline consisted of 2-WAV files at 2.2Gb each placed in a single Encore timeline due to the total audio being over 4GB thus requiring me to split the source audio files in half in order to stay under the 4GB limit for WAV files, and also because I had to export the FCP audio timeline using Compressor in order to generate Blu-Ray compliant audio files (non-AIFC). Also - (possible bug?) if Encore has 2-separate audio files in the same timeline it will transcode the audio to the current project's default audio settings (48k/16-bit in my case) - even though the assets are showing as 'Do not transcode' in the asset menu for Blu-Ray. It clearly states in the Encore CS4 manual that imported WAV files at 96k/24-bit will not be transcoded - but it appears in this case when 2-audio files are placed in the same timeline that it will transcode with no warning - bothersome to say the least.
I suppose the alternative is to work with a lossless audio format which supports files larger than 4GB - which would only require a single audio file for a single Encore timeline, but other than DTS Master Audio (not available on this project) I'm not sure what audio format would work in Encore to support 96k/24-bit audio files larger than 4GB.
If anyone knows - drop some knowledge!
-Cheers -
I read some of the other problems with this but I have an extra little tid-bit. If I just import the .avi and burn it with no menu it works fine. It is when I incorporate a menu and burn that I get "encode failed". I am not real technical so if some one has a dumbed down answer for me I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Then when I got the video approved I went back in, chose new blank menu, put 11 chapters in the time line, then dropped those chapter markers into video buttons on the menu, checked my links, didn't have any errors, went into build dvd, got about 3 sec. in and boom!! "Encode Failed" whilst building disc in Encore CS4
Hi folks,
I've built a Premiere Pro CS4 project which, after adding a menu in Encore CS4, I'm trying to output/"Build" a disc from Encore. The project's assets comprise original AVCHD video from my Sony Handycam and, from these, some After Effects CS4 generated segments (which I first converted from AVCHD to MPEG2 HD using Free HD Converter V1.7).
Although I've previously produced SD DVDs from PPro2, I'm new to CS4, and working with HD video.
Q1 - having built a project from AVCHD video, is it possible in theory to export from Encore to MPEG2-DVD (PAL 16:9)
Q2 - if the answer to Q1 is "yes", do you have any idea why during the build disc process I receive an "Encode Failed" message within a matter of seconds (whilst using export setting MPEG2-DVD PAL High Quality 4Mb VBR 2 Pass in Widescreen 16:9)?
I'm using Windows 7 Professional 32-bit on a laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P9600 @ 2.66GHz, with 4.00 GB RAM.
Thanks in anticipation! For CS4 you must update the Roxio component http://forums.adobe.com/thread/400484?tstart=0

Encore CS4 Transcoding Blue Screen Crashes
Can someone please help me?

I have a intel core quad extreme 2.66ghz, 4gb ram, vista 32, quadro fx 4600. I have the most recent up-to-date forceware drivers. I own Encore CS4 ver. 4.01.048, running from the production premium suite.

Whenever I try to transcode a movie i'm getting about 1/4 through the transcode and suffer the dreaded blue screen of death about 90 percent of the time and an error log another 10 percent of the time. When i look at the error log it says something about a <crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION". I am the administrator of the computer. It seems as though all my other programs are working just fine.

Can anyone help?
1. Download a utility like
MemTest
and test your memory. Could be a bad chip.
2. Check your fans and the temperature inside your case. Make sure the inside of the case and all components are free of dust and dirt. This could be a heat issue.
3. Is your power supply up to powering all of the stuff you're running? -
Export To Flash in Encore CS4 on the Mac
It has been widely reported (and I have confirmed) that Encore CS3 will not Build to Flash on a Mac running Leopard 10.5.5 and Quicktime 7.5.5 (the latest versions of Mac OS X and Quicktime). I would be most appreciative if anyone who has received Encore CS4 can determine if Build To Flash works on a Mac running OS 10.5.5 and Quicktime 7.5.5.
Thank you in advance for responding.
TomSince no one has responded to my post on this issue, I can now provide the answer. First however, I want to insert the final comment in a long customer service request that I have had running with Adobe Technical Support since early August on this issue.
"Monday, October 20, 2008 1:59:20 PM PDT
Hello Tom,
Thank you for contacting Adobe® Web Support for assistance with Adobe
Encore® CS3.
I understand that you are not able to export as flash from Encore CS3.
On my Mac, I have OS 10.5.5, and QuickTime 7.5.5. I tested this issue
with Encore CS3 and CS4. The export worked just fine on CS4, but again
failed on CS3. I spoke with Adam, and a few others around, and were not
quite sure why he was able to get this to work. I am 100% certain that
using the same workflow, his Mac is able to handle this process, but
none of the others I was able to try this on could. As far as I am
concerned, his ability to perform this export is a fluke, and cannot be
reproduced through known methods.
However, the issue is resolved in the CS4 release, so you should be all
set to do your flash exports once you get your upgrade.
I hope this information helps to resolve your issue. If you require
further assistance with this issue, please update your web case with
complete details, including what steps you have applied and any error
messages you are receiving.
You may also call Technical Support at (800) 642-3623. We are available

of everything you have said by adding my own experiences of the last 48 hours with Adobe Production Premium CS3 and CS4.
Two days ago I purchased the new Macbook Pro (Intel 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM). Immediately after setting up the Macbook Pro and getting i
t operating, I installed Adobe Production Premium CS3 (and all updates to CS3 Production Premium) on this brand new Macbook Pro. No
other software outside of the Mac OS 10.5.5 (and all updates to it) had been installed on this Macbook Pro. I then opened Premiere
CS3, placed 10 seconds of bars and tone in the timeline, and directly exported this to Encore CS3. I then selected Build To Flash.
Once again Encore CS3 froze at the "transcoding video" step and would not progress beyond 20%. This is the exact same behavior I
had on my Mac Pro 8-core machine and reported in this thread.
I then installed Adobe Production Premium CS4 on my Mac Pro 8-core. I followed the above step with the exception that apparently di
rect export from Premiere Pro CS4 to Encore CS4 is no longer available. I simple exported the Premiere Pro 10 second timeline to a
Quicktime .mov file using the Export>Media command in Premiere Pro CS4. I then took this .mov file into Encore CS4 and without bui
lding any menus, selected Build To Flash. The Build to Flash occurred perfectly with no problems at the "transcoding video" step or
any other step.
Needless to say, I am very pleased to see that Adobe has corrected the problems with Build to Flash in CS4 on a Mac. However, this
problem had been well reported in numerous forums (including the Adobe Encore Forum) on the web as far back as six months ago, and
I am saddened to see that Adobe did not feel it was worth the effort to repair the issue with Build To Flash in CS3 on a Mac that w
as apparently caused by an upgrade to Quicktime that Apple released sometime after Quicktime 7.3.1. I cannot expect Apple to addres
s issues with Adobe software caused by their Quicktime upgrades. I do, however, expect Adobe to see that their software runs on the
latest editions of both Mac OS X and Quicktime. Otherwise, as happened with Encore CS3 and Build to Flash on a Mac, the customer bu
ys the software expecting it to work and it does not. We are in a tough economy now. I need the software from Adobe that supports
my media production company to work, and I don't need Apple and Adobe pointing the finger at each other when it does not. I hope th
at you will pass this message along to senior Adobe management.
I do thank you for telling me your observations on Build To Flash with a Mac under Encore CS3.

General Error when I try to out put DVD in Encore CS4
I have been trying to output a dvd from and encore project and am continually getting errors. I have imported mpg movie assets. I am working on Encore CS4 Windows XP. I get "General Error" message.
I have also tried other file formats like AVI and still got "Transcoding Failed"errors with the transcoding process, not one of the settings in Transcoding was working, that was when I went to mpg files, those are already dvd ready assets no transcoding necessary.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank youThank you for responding.

I just imported the assets as timelines, there are no chapter markers for navigation nor no editing on the timelines, I just want to output to DVD and I'm getting "General Error" When I start to build.

Encore CS4 - Problem creating DVD folder
I have been trying to create a DVD in Encore CS4 and have discovered that if I select the option to create a DVD folder on my hard disk, the resultant VOB files are corrupted in some way (although their sizes and names seem to be correct). However, if I instead burn a disk directly from the transcoded sequence, the result is often fine. Has anybody else encountered this strange issue?
I'm using a quad core (Q660 2.4GHz) PC with 4GB of ram and plenty of spare hard disk space, running the 64 bit version of Vista home premium (SP1 applied). The footage (edited in Premiere CS4) is 1080 25p from an XDCAM PMW-EX1, transcoded to 720x576 (i.e. PAL).In reply to the two responses so far posted (and thanks for these, by the way):
1. I have not tried creating an ISO image instead. To be honest, I am more interested in knowing why the DVD folder creation fails.
2. I check the VOB files by attempting to play them in a software DVD player (Power DVD). The corrupted ones result in a blank (black) screen and no audio. The ones successfully burnt straight to a DVD will play fine when the folder structure is copied onto my hard drive. -
Encore CS4 Missing Frames/Stops Starts and Blue Screen Crashes During Playback
I'm opening Premiere Pro CS4 with the default presets of HDV Capture, HDV 1080i30 software only mode. I'm capturing from my Canon HV20 using firewire HDV out 1440 x 1080. All goes well during the editing process but when I Dynamic Link and playback in Encore CS4 I observe dropped frames or stop and starts in Encore timeline sequence. At times I may even crash Encore with a Blue Screen. While still running Encore I can go back to Premiere Pro and play the timeline sequence with no issues. I will mention that I have the Matrox RT.X2 installed. But when starting a project I'm doing software only and disabling RT.X2 hardware playback. If I remove all effects in the timeline sequence and then Dynamic link to Encore the playback is normal with no effects. I did exported the Premiere Pro CS4 project using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 with a setting of MPEG 2 Blu-ray 1440 x 1080i 29.97 High Quality. I than import this MPEG2 back into Adobe Encore CS4 and it plays without dropping frames or hang-ups.

Encore "Tries" to playback from premiere pro. If you have a full set of previews available, it will play those, but you are probably seeing a lot of dropped frames and choppy video if your previews in premiere are set pretty low. What you can do to combat this--in my experience--is export your video from premiere into a whole file in full format (in a non-lossy format with full frames, and in it's proxy equivalent; I use Prores LT for many projects, and export that as a final output from premiere), then have that encode in an h.264 format (which will maximize smooth motion and quality playback). Now... ...In your encore project, you should be outside of your original formats and in the intermediary that encore will recognize, so you should have it "Locate transcoded file". Once you have done so, it will playback that movie in the preview. I've done it. With CS6 and 4gb ram with a vidcard at 256mb and a core2duo 2.16ghz, it plays fine. With CS4 the encoding takes a while, and if you go to dvd, even longer for compression to work properly. I use Compressor to output AVCHD .264 stream and an AC3 file. When I locate the transcode for BD, I locate the .264 file first, then I get asked for the AC3 file. This allows me to import them both, and have Encore encode them into the transport stream without transcoding. I use Distributed processing to get the job done quickly, as I have minimal access to several computers and have connected them by that method for a Render Farming setup. It works well. With a hardware based device playing back your files, you won't see the same performance in Encore. It has to make two hops already to get to your video, and adding a third (goes from encore to Premiere, then to codec, then plays normally; third step is to external hardware, which eats up processing like crazy when it has to come all the way back to an encoding output to screen through encore, adding more steps for the system along the way) really can slow down the performance in Encore. IF you take the Steps out by encoding a finished playback stream, Encore will handle it quickly with it's own processing. It really does work well. If you don't like it, make your changes in Premiere, then re-encode with your hardware and make an h.264 file for encore again. You can use AME, but you'll always get standard Blu-ray (old file-stream format; lesser res and quality). You can use Compressor to make AVCHD which allows for 264 output that is PSF or progressive that is interpreted as simultaneous fields (fake interlace), or even solid progressive formatting for AVCHD compatible players, and you can render-farm it to speed up the encoding process.
