Encore CS4 Flash versions of DVDs broken

FLV Flash builds of our DVDs look fine, but navigation is very inconsistent and mostly broken.
F4V output seems to crash the machine before anything gets output.
Everything else is fine, the DVDs work and play perfectly. Has anyone got any ideas about this? It sure would be cool to generate flash versions of our DVD projects for customer approval, feedback etc. But we've never been able to make a flash build actually work completely...
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Kenny

If your server doesn't like spaces in file names, it's likely due to HTML address rules. However, these files won't be linked via HTML, but through the AuthoredContent.xml file directly into the SWF playing in the Flash player, which doesn't have the same limitations as HTML.
If your server is kicking a fuss up about this, replace the single space character in the PNG filename with an underscore character (do this at file system level), then edit the AuthoredContent.xml file and replace the space character in the PNG filename with an underscore character. Save everything, and then upload the files in the same hierarchy that Encore exports.
That should do it.

  • Flash Version of DVD/Blu Ray looks grainy

So I have found a way to export my Blu Ray files to play off of a flash file. My question is this. When I am watching the file the menus and such look crisp and clear but once I go into a video asset within the Flash version to watch it, the video looks like it is scaled down and looks grainy and awful. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? The file for the whole flash version seems to be hovering always at ~3.5 GB no matter what I set the project settings to. Does anyone have any ideas?

What export preset did you use? And yes, the max resolution appears to be 1280x720.

  • Encore CS4 Flash Rendering Problem

Here’s the problem, when I render to flash it comes out with a choppy slideshow and audio. If I render as a regular DVD it comes out perfectly. Can someone tell me what’s wrong?
    Thanks

Sorry i cant wait for CS5 to comeout, i upgraded from cs3 hoping cs4 fixed alot of the problems in encore.
Here is a lik to how it is pausing when played back. http://www.koushins.net/flash_problem/

  • Encore CS4 Stops transcoding to DVD DV AVI files

I dont know what is going on why adobe released unfinished soft and updates?. Purchased and installed SC4 and I have SC3 installed on the same machine with WinXPPROSP3 with all latest updates of video card and other soft. Have build a two projects in Encore SC4 already, but does not render to dvd imported DV AVI files.
Now, the setting are as fallows, one minuet long (or complete 1 hour project) 4:3 DV AVI files or imported premiere pro project, and set to be transcoded to DVD High Quality NTSC 8mps 1 pass, (it is one of the default presets) and it does not finish transcoding to dvd. The funny thing is that, this file with this trhanscode setting was used many times in CS3 and in CS4 it is not working. Quick time was updated to 7.6 and I had 7.5 before and went back to 7.4 but it didnt change anything.
Would like to know ASAP what is going on why the render stops?
I was watching the transcode status/progress when rendering on the back it stops shortly after conforming audio or at the very end of importing a file. However CS3 finish rendering with same presets with no problem.
    So why it stops transcoding?
    PC config is this
    Quad Q6600 SPU
    4Gb DDR3 Ram
    Dual 8800 Video card
    PQ53K Mother board
    2.5Tb of HDD
What is not there, why is not rendering?

Thanks JB and HM for your input! My videos consist of 1) still images and 2) some video clips (captured with APP) and 3) almost all of the video transitions APP offers. I rarely have a montage over 30 mins. Most of them run between 15 and 20 mins. With this info, would you say it is best if I stick with my current method of encoding (encoding in APP with MPG2-DVD at 8Mb/CBR/1pass then importing into AED)?
Some have asked me why I even bother with AED and why not just build the DVD directly from APP. The reason is that AED allows me to create a menu with the option of both single play and loop play, something APP will not let me do.
    Thanks again!

  • Problems with Encore CS4 Flash Playback in webbrowsers

Here's my problem. I made a great DVD I was hoping to show online.
There are several options when I export.
You have export to flv or f4v. I'm not really sure what the difference is but I tried both. When I export to f4v I great great playback in firefox and new versions of IE...but older versions don't play.
When I export to flv I get choppy, unwatchable playback from all browsers. Even when I set the quality to low, the video is still crystal clear, almost like this option does nothing at all.
I was thinking maybe I could somehow compress the flv after it exports, or even hack the f4v to play in old versions of ie but I have no idea how to do either one!
These are both streamed btw. I know I saw that you can throw it up onto playstream and thats supposed to help playback, but my company doesn't want to pay for it.
Am I missing something? I'm under a really tight timeframe to have this stuff finished. Please help!
    Erik

FLV and F4V use different codecs for Flash video. H.264 in case of F4V and On2 VP6 for FLV. There's a difference of bitrate between different quality presets. You can check the bitrates of files generated using some tool. Your video might be very static to feel the different be the two quality settings.
F4V is the new format and need a newer version of Flash Player. Please update your Flash player and try again to play the F4V files.
Playstream doesnt support F4V format. You can only export FLV files to Playstream.
It might also be an issue of low bandwidth while playing a streaming video. Are you playing is locally or from a web server.

  • Encore CS4 cancels itself during DVD writing.

When I try to build my DVD everything works fine up until DVD writing. Then Encore suddenly says "canceling" and ejects my DVD-R with nothing on it.
I've tried several DVD-R brands, cleared the media cache, checked the project for orphans and what not but nothing seems to work.  I've also made sure Encore is at write speed 2X  (the speed my Mac can handle).
I have 2 Premiere movies on the DVD (not Dynamically linked), and a bunch of .mov files in timelines from After Effects.  Once again, everything seems to get transcoded with no problem, it's just afterward when it says "writing" that it suddenly cancels.
I'm using a Intel iMac purchased in 2008.   Any help would be great!!! Cheers

Add me and my problem to your list of those who have had the Party HD menu.
I have a problem that may be related. Come see my thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/457417?tstart=0
Please any one with a solution post it somewhere. And I don't want to hear "Rebuild". There was a time a while back where one of my Premier Projects corrupted and someone in an obscure thread posted a link to an xml editor that could read into the project files for premier and allow you to edit out the corrupt bits. I used this and it fixed the problem enough that I could resurrect the project. I was hoping someone knew of a similar thing for Encore.
The Encore project i have been working on is so close to complete and more than 2 years in the making. It took me a couple of weeks getting my menus and AE backgrounds all sorted out, to have it collapse on me now means another 2 weeks or so rebuilding the menus. If I could look into and edit a backup of the project to see and fix what was wrong it would mean a lot of time saved.
I am suspecting that Party HD menu and possibly a few other "orphan" links to assets I deleted from the hard drive are the cause, but until I see the reference I wouldnt know. I really need to at least have a window into the Encore project file.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Encore CS4 Flash output - server doesn't like file names

Apparently my ftp server for my web site does not like files with spaces in the names, but Encore seems to use spaces in some of the file names for the png files in the menus. Is there any way around this? Can I force it to replace spaces with underscores? Can I go in and manually change the links and the file names (there aren't too many). this is very annoying - how could this happen?
    Thanks,
    Scott

If your server doesn't like spaces in file names, it's likely due to HTML address rules. However, these files won't be linked via HTML, but through the AuthoredContent.xml file directly into the SWF playing in the Flash player, which doesn't have the same limitations as HTML.

  • Encore CS4: Exporting in 16:9

I recently switched to shooting in 16:9 rather than 4:3, and am using Encore CS4 to create a DVD from this footage. However, the DVD comes out in 4:3, with the people looking distorted. How can I tell Encore to use 16:9?
    Thank you.

OK, I didn't want to get into this because it's going to make me sound
    stupid...but since you asked:
I thought the TV I was using to view the DVD was a widescreen TV. It has a
physical appearance which would lead one to believe this. I know...how
could anyone not tell the difference? Well I couldn't, until I looked the
model up online and saw that the PAR was listed as 4:3. In my defense I
will say that I rarely use this particular TV (but I still feel pretty
    stupid).
Anyway, the DVD player was set for a PAR of 16:9, which would have worked
just fine if the TV had in fact been widescreen, but since the TV was 4:3,
it scrunched the people up to look unnaturally tall and thin. When I
changed the PAR to 4:3 letterbox, the distortion disappeared. When I saw
this I thought "Oh, it must not be a widescreen TV," because why else would
switching to any type of 4:3 solve the problem?
Your suggestion pointed me in the right direction. I did not realize that I
had to set the PAR on the DVD player itself. I was certain the problem had
    to be something in Encore.
    Thank you.

  • Encore CS4 problem uploading flash streams to remote ftp in build

    Hi
I'm working on a windows XP and trying to upload to my my remote server which has a new install of the Adobe Flash Streaming Media Server 3.5
    as for Encore
under build when creating a streaming flash I can't log into my ftp site, only to local folder.
I created a link to my ftp site under networks, when trying to link to this FTP Encore won't accept it.
no problem creating flash progressive downloads but impossible to upload the streaming version.
progressive is really not the desired output.
how can I log onto the ftp site?
    thanks in advance
    Klaus

If FTP still doesnt work for you, please try uploading videos to FTP server without using Encore (try windows FTP or a FTP client). If you cannot upload videos anyway, the problem could be with FTP server configuration.
Following are the steps to setup your streaming server. (Steps are for Microsoft IIS FTP server on WinXP. You can use another server also)
    1. You have to install a Flash Media Server 3.5 and a FTP server for this. FMS 3.5 free developer edition can be downloaded from www.adobe.com
    2. Install IIS on winXP from Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components (You may need a windowsXP installation DVD)
    3. Configure FTP server to point to "\Flash Media Server 3\applications\vod\media" folder
(FTP server can be configured from IIS window in Control Panel > Administrative Tools> IIS. Right click Default FTP site > Properties > Home Directory Tab > Set Local Path to "FMS3\applications\vod\media\media" folder)
    4. Encore streaming script for the server will still point to "\Flash Media Server 3\applications\vod" and not to Media folder inside Vod. (For example, if FMS server name is amgupta, FLV streaming location will be "rtmp://{FMServerName}/vod/"
    5. Encore streaming script should be updated at 2 places with the new server names. ("rtmp://FMSservername/vod/flv:" and ftp://FTPservername ). The script is located at "X\Adobe Encore CS4\Required\flashExportScript\localFMS.jsx" where X is the install location of Encore CS4)
    Hope this works.

  • Export To Flash in Encore CS4 on the Mac

It has been widely reported (and I have confirmed) that Encore CS3 will not Build to Flash on a Mac running Leopard 10.5.5 and Quicktime 7.5.5 (the latest versions of Mac OS X and Quicktime). I would be most appreciative if anyone who has received Encore CS4 can determine if Build To Flash works on a Mac running OS 10.5.5 and Quicktime 7.5.5.
Thank you in advance for responding.
    Tom

Since no one has responded to my post on this issue, I can now provide the answer. First however, I want to insert the final comment in a long customer service request that I have had running with Adobe Technical Support since early August on this issue.
    "Monday, October 20, 2008 1:59:20 PM PDT
    Hello Tom,
Thank you for contacting Adobe® Web Support for assistance with Adobe
    Encore® CS3.
I understand that you are not able to export as flash from Encore CS3.
On my Mac, I have OS 10.5.5, and QuickTime 7.5.5. I tested this issue
with Encore CS3 and CS4. The export worked just fine on CS4, but again
failed on CS3. I spoke with Adam, and a few others around, and were not
quite sure why he was able to get this to work. I am 100% certain that
using the same workflow, his Mac is able to handle this process, but
none of the others I was able to try this on could. As far as I am
concerned, his ability to perform this export is a fluke, and cannot be
    reproduced through known methods.
However, the issue is resolved in the CS4 release, so you should be all
set to do your flash exports once you get your upgrade.
I hope this information helps to resolve your issue. If you require
further assistance with this issue, please update your web case with
complete details, including what steps you have applied and any error
    messages you are receiving.
You may also call Technical Support at (800) 642-3623. We are available
    from 6:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday - Friday, Pacific Time.

Now let me post my response:
    "Thursday, October 23, 2008 12:40:06 PM PDT
    Joshua E.,
Thank you for your clear response to the issue of not being able to Build to Flash using Encore CS3. I can confirm the 100% accuracy
of everything you have said by adding my own experiences of the last 48 hours with Adobe Production Premium CS3 and CS4.
Two days ago I purchased the new Macbook Pro (Intel 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM). Immediately after setting up the Macbook Pro and getting i
t operating, I installed Adobe Production Premium CS3 (and all updates to CS3 Production Premium) on this brand new Macbook Pro. No
other software outside of the Mac OS 10.5.5 (and all updates to it) had been installed on this Macbook Pro. I then opened Premiere
CS3, placed 10 seconds of bars and tone in the timeline, and directly exported this to Encore CS3. I then selected Build To Flash.
Once again Encore CS3 froze at the "transcoding video" step and would not progress beyond 20%. This is the exact same behavior I
had on my Mac Pro 8-core machine and reported in this thread.
I then installed Adobe Production Premium CS4 on my Mac Pro 8-core. I followed the above step with the exception that apparently di
rect export from Premiere Pro CS4 to Encore CS4 is no longer available. I simple exported the Premiere Pro 10 second timeline to a
Quicktime .mov file using the Export>Media command in Premiere Pro CS4. I then took this .mov file into Encore CS4 and without bui
lding any menus, selected Build To Flash. The Build to Flash occurred perfectly with no problems at the "transcoding video" step or
    any other step.
Needless to say, I am very pleased to see that Adobe has corrected the problems with Build to Flash in CS4 on a Mac. However, this
problem had been well reported in numerous forums (including the Adobe Encore Forum) on the web as far back as six months ago, and
I am saddened to see that Adobe did not feel it was worth the effort to repair the issue with Build To Flash in CS3 on a Mac that w
as apparently caused by an upgrade to Quicktime that Apple released sometime after Quicktime 7.3.1. I cannot expect Apple to addres
s issues with Adobe software caused by their Quicktime upgrades. I do, however, expect Adobe to see that their software runs on the
latest editions of both Mac OS X and Quicktime. Otherwise, as happened with Encore CS3 and Build to Flash on a Mac, the customer bu
ys the software expecting it to work and it does not. We are in a tough economy now. I need the software from Adobe that supports
my media production company to work, and I don't need Apple and Adobe pointing the finger at each other when it does not. I hope th
at you will pass this message along to senior Adobe management.
I do thank you for telling me your observations on Build To Flash with a Mac under Encore CS3.
    Tom

  • Resources for Using Premiere Pro CS4 and Encore to author Blu Ray DVDs

I am getting ready to author some Blu Ray DVDs consisting of HD video  of various aspect ratios and formats on the same disc. I have Premiere  Pro sequences that are either 720p30 and 1080i (60i). The 720p video is  1280x720 (1.0) 60fps. The 1080 footage is mixed with some of the 1080i  (60i) sequence video being 1440x1080 (1.3333) at 29.97 fps and some at  1920x1080 (1.0) at 29.97 fps. I haven't mixed the formats into the same  project. I've kept them in separate projects because I'm unsure what  would happen on export and whether I'd suffer degredation of one or the  other if I dumped them together into the same timeline.
The  final Blu-Ray project would consist of a bunch of menu items with each  item going to a specific exported video of a specific format and/or  aspect ratio. After playing around the Media Encoder for a couple of  hours looking for an export setting that would preserve the video  quality as close as possible to the original source video, I've settled  on using the MPEG-2 Blu-Ray format using either the HDTV 1080i High  Quality or the HDTV 720p 59.94 High Quality presets, depending on the  format of the original video that I'm compiling.
Before  I start firing up Media Encoder though, I need to figure out a couple  of things pertaining to authoring Blu-Ray and what I can and cannot do.  For example, can I have mixed formats on the same disk (720p and 1080i)  as long as the the 720p video exists in one file and the 1080i exists in  a different file? Looking over the Blu-Ray settings in Encore CS4 it's  not clear to me and so far I've found nothing in the help file that says  definitively that I can't have multiple file formats/aspect  ratios/frame rates in the same project, though the way the New Project  menu functions it suggests I can't.
Another question I  have is would it behoove me to upgrade to CS5 or does it not make a  difference whether I use CS4 or CS5 in terms of trying to accomplish  what I want to accomplish? And if anyone can point me to other resources  on this subject, that would be helpful as well. Thanks.

    I use BD-RE disks.
First i make an iso and test it on the pc. (virtual clone drive and Power dvd)
Then burn with Nero to RE and test it on a standalone BD player.
If the RE passes the test i burn the iso to BD disk again with Nero (i am still on version 7)

  • Video DVD PAL poor with Encore CS4

Good day, I am new to this forum.
I ask if you can help on this problem I have with Enore CS4.
After you export a sequence from Premiere CS4 format MPG2 x PAL DVD on Encore, and built my menus for DVD video, the control of various features in Encore atemprima everything works well and the video is of excellent quality, but after doing Burning with a preset encore x DVD PAL, the video played back on any player (whether desktop, both PC) appears to have lost quality looks as blurry and with loss of contrast. I followed exactly all the settings encore, but maybe being transcoding is a loss of video quality.
I tried the PAL Ulead DVD Workshop 2.0 (the program always used before encore) with the same filmato MPG2 used encore, with Ulead DVD is perfect and does not lose quality.
Could you help me to see if something wrong or is it a problem encore cs4?
I have a PC with OS Win XP Prof. Service pak3, Ram 4GZ DDR3, Intel Core Quad Q9850, n. 4 HD 7200/rpm, Grafic Ati Readon HD 4870 latest drivers installed.
Thanks for the help I will be given.

Just to be clear, when you initially did a Burn to Disc for the DVD, it tested and played perfectly, including the full Linked Timelines. It was ONLY with the Flash Export, that things went pear-shaped. Is that correct?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Creating DVD menus in Encore CS4

I have only very briefly experimented with trying to create a DVD menu for my Premier Pro CS4/Encore CS4 projects.  I must say I have found it not at all intuitive.
    Can anyone please:
1: Recommend a nice clear tutorial on how to create DVD menus in PPro CS4/Encore CS4
    and/or:
2:  Recommend a nice simple not-too-costly programme with which I can create DVD menus from my PPro CS4/Encore CS4 projects.
The menus which come with Encore seem pretty naff, too.  If anyone can recommend some simple software which has nicer ones I'd be grateful.
    Thanks all!

Unless PSE 9 has changed things, the big limitation in using Photoshop Elements is that it cannot create the Button Layer Sets, but can edit them, from the Library Menus. Photoshop has no such limitation.
I do not know if GIMP can do the Menus, but it is often recommended as a free alternative for PS. As I have PS, I have not even seen that program in decades.
One additional source for pre-made Menus is Muvipix. These are free to subscribers, and for sale to non-subscribers. Also, they are done as PrE Menu Sets, but can be broken down and modified to function as stand-alone Menus for Encore.
There is a source for pre-made Menus, in the UK, but last time I checked they were heavily weighted to weddings.
Personally, I just start with a Library Menu, and modify/build what I need in PS.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
