Encore Cs4 importing Fullhd Videos

I'm using Encore CS4 with all updates of adobe, and import a video (1920x1080) in the DVD project, it just hangs. Have any explanation for this?
My computer:
Intel C2Q Q9550 2,8
8GB ram ddr2 800
Video: 9800 GTX
Asus P5k premium

I assume you are referring to Adobe Media Encoder, and you should get the same results using that or starting from Premiere. It is important that you use the MPEG2-DVD preset, not the plain MPEG2 preset.
You didn't answer the audio part of my question. Make sure that you set the export for "not multiplexed" so you get separate video and audio files.

Encore CS4 Importing Problem

When I'm importing my .mpg file into Adobe Encore CS4, it just gets to 71% and stops. The time keeps increaseing and increaseing with no end in sight. Heres a screenshot...
Now I know it only says 1 Minute and 24 Seconds in this shot but that's just for this one. I refuse to wait anymore. I've waited hours and hours before with zero progress.
Now I've looked this problem up and some have said to delete the "regedit > blabla > adobe > common > Media Cache. DELETE
So that's what I did. I've completely upadted my CS4, I've ran it as administrator. I restarted, I don't know, a million times now. Reinstalled. Everything I could possibly even conjure up with the limited brain power my skull contains. And I still can NOT get this simple file to Import. Also, I've re-exported the video multiple times at multiple bit rates and qualitys, (which takes 8 hours an export) and still nothing.
I'm really trying to hold back my anger in this post.

CS4 Importing SD video from Sony NX5

I can import it but it looks blurry and soft and needs to be rendered. The video comes from Sony NX5 tapeless camera. It records SD in mpeg2 instead of DV. The softness seems to happen during this conversion, the original video looks sharp when viewing it in Windows Media Player.
How can I import it without making it look soft?

Why does Encore restrict importation of certain video resolutions?

As a new Encore user, my jaw dropped when I discovered that Encore retricts importing (PAL) video assets to only 720x576 or 704x576 especially now that so many other DVD authoring applications offer other DVD compliant resolutions of 352x288 and 352x576. Are there any particular reasons for these restrictions? I'm surprised that a company of Adobe's stature would release this software with these limitations. For the present time, I think I'll stick to my trusty old Spruce DVDMaestro.

I'm guessing two reasons:
1. The lower resolutions are in the DVD-Video spec mainly for compatibility with MPEG1 video. Encore doesn't do MPEG1.
2. Encore supports widescreen (16:9) pixel aspect ratios. The lower resolutions don't allow for 16:9 PARs.
Other than that, you'd have to ask Adobe, because only they know for sure.

Jittery Menu in Encore CS4

I just finished a highlight DVD authored in Encore CS4. The video quality is
great but the menu is shaking or jittering up and down, very slightly.
The menu should be perfectly still. It is just a text menu with a photo, nothing fancy.
Can somebody tell me how to correct this problem? The menu was built in Photoshop CS4.

You should post to the great Encore Forum.
When you do, please give the details of your Encore Project settings, and the full specs. of that Menu. Likely something in those numbers.

5.1 (AC3) mit Encore CS4 / CS5

Hallo,
seit einiger Zeit versuche ich mit Encore CS4 eine DVD-Video mit 5.1-Sound zu erstellen. Ich erhalte auf der fertigen DVD aber immer nur Stereo.
Ich habe extra eine ac3-Datei (5.1) erstellt, damit Encore nicht transcodieren muss.
Was muss ich sonst noch beachten? Oder geht 5.1 nur mit Encore CS5?

Ja, die ac3-Datei steht auf "nicht transkodieren".
Der Original-Mix wurde exportiert mit Nuendo (wav 5.1).
Mit BeSweet wurde daraus die AC3-Datei erstellt.
Diese lässt sich z.B. mit Soundbooth CS4 öffnen. Alle sechs Spuren der AC3 werden sauber wiedergegeben und angezeigt.

Encore CS4 asset import creates black images

Running Encore CS4 on Win 7 32-bit; 4GB RAM, Radeon 7750 graphics
If I do an Import of assets, namely a bunch of standard, out of camera jpegs, about 2.5-4MB in size, then CS4 imports them but anywhere from 10-100% of them will just be black images.
Only solution I've found is to clear out the bad ones, save, close project, re-open project, re-import. Sometimes you can only import them one at a time without going through a close/open project step. Just clearing the image and trying to re-import without closing the project never works.
Worse - after re-opneing the project, sometimes some of the 'good' images have gone black and have to be re-imported.
Never had this problem with Encore 2.0.
Not having this problem with Encore CS3, but a CS3 project opened in CS4 also displays a bunch of black images which were OK in CS3.
So 2 questions
- anybody seen CS4 being so stupid as this? and have a real fix? (as it took me 4 hours to add 60 images yesterday, which is ridiculous)
- given CS3 seems to work (and opens projects much faster), is ther any downside to staying on CS3?

Encore CS4 freezing up on import and build

Using Encore CS4 and having problems in two different projects. In one, Encore freezes up when I attempt to import a large asset (it's a 1.4GB MP4 file). There is nothing else in the project - I'm trying to get started with it.
In a different project, everything goes well until I attempt to build the project, at which time Encore is once again freezing. In this project, I have two AVI files placed one after another and a single, very simple image as a menu - nothing fancy.
I'm running Vista with 2GB of RAM.

I'll assume that you are Exporting from PP CS4, as Encore CS4 is only bundled with it.
Try a "test":
Export as DV-AVI (Video only), and PCM/WAV 16/48 (Audio only). Import the DV-AVI as a Timeline and the WAV as an Asset. Place the WAV on the Timeline with the DV-AVI. Link your Menu to it. I'd alter the "test" Menu, so there is only one Button and it Links to the Timeline. Set End Action of Timeline to Return to Menu. Check for errors, then Burn this "test" to a DVD RW. Does this work?
Note: I would start a new clean Project. You can Import>As Menu, your existing Menu, but DO modify it for this "test," so there is ONLY one Button. You do not want un-linked Buttons in the "test."

How to import youtube video into premiere cs4

I installed adobe premiere cs4 and was really astonished by the fact that it's not possible to import a video downloaded from YouTube, but it is needed to convert it firstly. This application is weight about 3GB on my hard disk and now I must search for a plugin to import a video from YT.
It would be perfectly if i could download a video directly into premiere, and also upload finished file up to youtube.
The only result of my search is a paid plugin named moyea-importer - USD 70, but it seems it works only with earlier versions of premiere, before cs4.
Is there any free plugin for this task. Or any similar solution.
If not - in which format should I download youtube video, in which format should I convert it (what is the best converter for that) to make it editable in premiere.

As Mark says, CS4 is old... and CS5 and later were complete rewrites of the source code, to be 64bit instead of 32bit, so internal operations are not the same

Okay, I am on a windows version of premiere pro CS4. I am not very experienced with the software, so this could be amazingly obvious/simple, or it may truly be as hard as I am finding it to be. I need to import a video file, currently a .mov. I believe but am not certain that it was made on an Apple with Final Cut Pro. Premiere gives me a missing codec error.
When I try to play the file in most of my video players, including QuickTime, I get a missing or unsupported codec error (the sound generally plays fine, though - just the video is missing).One of my players actually named the codec, I believe... saying there was an error with xdv8 codec. So I did some googling, and found that mplayer has that codec.
So I download and install the latest mplayer for windows (SMPlayer to be precise), and it plays the video fine. However I still cannot import this video into Premiere. And the SMPlayer doesn't offer an export, save as, etc. function.
I found all of the codec .dll files that the SMPlayer uses, but have no idea how (if it is possible) to get Premiere to recognize them... and I am not sure which it is, as none of them have xdv8 in the title.
Is there a way to import a codec into premiere if it is not part of a codec installer package?
Does anyone know where I can get a codec installer package for Premiere that includes the xdv8 codec?
Is there any other way to work around this issue?

One of my players (VLC Player, from Video Lan) gave an error stating that the xdv8 codec was missing or not supported. A ton of googling later found that the MPlayer does support the codec - and when I installed said MPlayer (the SMPLayer GUI for windows), I can play the video.
My issue is that the video comes from an indirect source; my client (I am a web designer, this client has a lot of streaming video on the site) has the videos created by a "professional" local studio... who is (in my opinion) anything but pro. I have no direct contact with them, and when I ask for anything to be done, such as getting the video in a different format, it can take weeks or longer before I get a response. So since I have Premiere, I started doing my own editing of the videos to get them web ready. The videos are being shot for TV (they get broadcast on the Fox Business Network)... so I have no idea if this codec is best (or even good) for that medium, but I need to convert it into 3 various sized flv files for web streaming.
UPDATE: I now see that the codec is ffmpeg2, and the 'format' is xdv8. I have no idea what that means!

Encore locks up when using the Adobe Dynamic Link to import Bluray video.

When I try to import video into Encore by using either the Adobe Dynamic Link or by opening Encore and importing as a timeline, Encore locks up during the "Prepare Transcode Settings" . I have Adobe Master Suite CS5 which was a download version. I've had this software since May 2011. I have been able to use import video in the past, but there seems to be an issue with Encore now. Has the program been corrupted? If I need to download Encore to repair it, how do I do this?

As well as the below, right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator, which is NOT the same thing as running the computer with the Administrator account, and which fixes several "odd" problems... CS4 Importing Video Problem

Hello, so I just installed Photoshop CS4 on my laptop (I'm using windows)
So I decided to make a GIF from a video, but I've got a problem with it.
At the very first step, I can't import the video (file > import > videos frames to layers) it says that 'Could not complete the Videos Frames to Layers command because QuickTime version 7.1 or later is required'
In fact, I've downloaded a QuickTime version 7.6.7
Can anyone help me please?

The file is compressed with a specific CoDec not supported by legacy QT or Windows media features and thus not readable in Photoshop. This pretty much affects allDicvX, Xvid and various other custom, out of spec MPEG-4 flavors that some digital phot cameras produce. It needs to be converted in another program, e.g. MPEGStreamclip, SUPER© and so on...

CS4 Encore – freezes when HD video asset is added

Encore CS4 locks up when I try to add a HD video asset(created in Premiere Pro CS4). I can add Standard Video and Encore does not freeze. I tried of three computer freezes on Windows 7 but works on old XP. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and update CS4. I have only had Encore running. ( the HD video is a short 25 second test HD video)
Has anyone had this issue or does anyone know fix

Video DVD PAL poor with Encore CS4

Good day, I am new to this forum.
I ask if you can help on this problem I have with Enore CS4.
After you export a sequence from Premiere CS4 format MPG2 x PAL DVD on Encore, and built my menus for DVD video, the control of various features in Encore atemprima everything works well and the video is of excellent quality, but after doing Burning with a preset encore x DVD PAL, the video played back on any player (whether desktop, both PC) appears to have lost quality looks as blurry and with loss of contrast. I followed exactly all the settings encore, but maybe being transcoding is a loss of video quality.
I tried the PAL Ulead DVD Workshop 2.0 (the program always used before encore) with the same filmato MPG2 used encore, with Ulead DVD is perfect and does not lose quality.
Could you help me to see if something wrong or is it a problem encore cs4?
I have a PC with OS Win XP Prof. Service pak3, Ram 4GZ DDR3, Intel Core Quad Q9850, n. 4 HD 7200/rpm, Grafic Ati Readon HD 4870 latest drivers installed.

Just to be clear, when you initially did a Burn to Disc for the DVD, it tested and played perfectly, including the full Linked Timelines. It was ONLY with the Flash Export, that things went pear-shaped. Is that correct?
