Encore CS4 Motion Menu Render Issue

I am trying to create a menu with background video. Here is my workflow:
I import my video and audio seperately as assets.
I open a blank menu from the library.
I click the "motion" tab for my menu and drag the "video" string over to my .avi file. All good.
I then drag the "audio" string over to my .wav file. All good.
After this I create my own basic buttons by switching to text and convert my text to buttons.
I then link my buttons to the other menus and timelines.
Then I go to File>Render>Motion Menus. Everything is fine until it gets  to 1723 of 1916 frames. Then it just stops. It doesn't crash it just stops at 1723 frames. My "elapsed time" and "time remaining" continue. I let it go for over 45 minutes with no results.
I went back to ppro and checked the lenght of my video in frames and it's only 1626 frames???
The avi is exported from ppro cs4 as a microsoft avi. It is only a minute in length.
I have deleted this project and started a new one. same thing.
I tried re-exporting the video from ppro. same thing.
I even started a completely fresh project in ppro and then yet another new project in encore. This time it stopped at 1729 of 1922 frames. The length in ppro is 1538 frames???
I've tried and re-tried over and over again today and sometimes I'll get an "Unspecified Drawing Error".
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

"Can you Open your Menu in PS, and then twirl open the Button Layer Sets, and do a screen-cap? There might be something obvious there - or maybe not."
-- I'm not sure what you mean by "Button Layer Set". I just created a new layer, selected the text tool and typed whatever I wanted the button to read. I added the (+) at the beginnning so encore could recognize it but it didn't so I converted it to a button in encore. I assume this is incorrect?
I am not using any motion thumbnails.
I am exporting as video only but when I export as a Microsoft AVI, PPro doesn't give me the Multiplexing tab:
Thanks Bill. I am a newbie so this is all trial and error for me. Hope this helps you help me.

  • Encore CS4 crash on render motion menus

When I first installed Encore CS4 (Windows 64-bit computer), it crashed every time I rendered my motion menus. I found a thread on this forum from 2009 that discussed this issue, and installed the Roxio patch (or whatever it was called)--that was the recommended solution. After that, render motion menus worked fine so I thought the problem was fixed.
But over the past few weeks, it has started happening again--intermittently at first. But today, every time I go to render a motion menu--with different PSD and MPEG-2 files--it crashes every single time. I am beyond frustrated.
What should I do? Since Encore has rendered motion menus fine for the past few months for me, I'm doubting that it's the Roxio issue. I read somewhere that profiles can get corrupted and can be reset. But I have no idea how to do that. So before I start screwing around with stuff, I figured I would come here and see if anyone has any ideas for me.
    Thanks for your help.

    Here's what I might try.
Start new project (probably after restarting my machine for good measure).
Open a library menu with motion.
    Render. Does that work?
If so, I'd look a bit harder at the motion assets. Try an old project that worked, and bring those assets into a new project for motion.
I'd try reinstallng the roxio patch, if it fixed this before. (I don't think was what it was intended to fix, but I wouldn't argue.)
If none of that works, I'd consider a repair install. See number 1 here:

  • Encore CS4 No Menu Temp's Windows 7 Also Update

As stated i am using windows 7   And well encore has no menu templets and when i did update it goes to the install process and  well does nothing after that figure nothing for windows 7. Wll notised features not avail in windows 7 .. do i have to go back to HD consuming vbista to get full advantage of my cs4?

Several Adobe users have experienced problems with different builds of Win7. Some have had no issues, until the last two build updates, and it seems that both of those fritzed things up badly.
I try to stay away from "the bleeding edge," as the "blood" might be my own.
When I did a lot of beta testing, I either went with a dual-boot system, or even built a system just for the testing. Only problem with this was that I often had brand new equipment, that could not yet be pressed into service, until the actual release of the OS. Now, I almost always wait until SP-1, before I cross over, and then only when the reports from the field indicate that things are good.
    Good luck,

  • Adobe Encore CS4 crashes during Render Progress

After creating entire menu without any problems ( there is occasional encore system crash...) I go to File and then Render Project. Rendering process start with rendering of my audio file and then it goes to "Rendering menu" and crashes every time! I called technical support but after couple of hours i was told to give it a rest and try call them next day... I have bought CS4 back in June 09 and it was running kinda good, I had a system crash from time to time but never a problem with rendering. Now it will not even render my old projects that I have successfully burnt in the past. I get the same error every time; " Adobe Encore has encounter an error. [..\Port\PhotoshopObject.cpp-568] " and after clicking on "continue" button Encore disappears... I have formatted my "C" drive reinstalled windows vista64, reinstalled all software downloaded "new" file from adobe and reinstalled Encore again but the problem is still there. I also read some post about encore crashes and i even deleted my nvidia dll driver but Encore crashed as usual... Does anybody have any idea how to solve this?
    Thanks

    Well,
it seems you have run Encore in the past succesfully (more or less) and this is the first "big stop".
    I'd suggest few tips:
-have you recently update firmware, drivers of your video card or something else? If yes, I'd try the previous one, though I had to say that I'm working great with the newest beta 196.34 and my GTX 295.
    - It's just a menu render matter? or everything can't be rendered? (you probably know you can render every menus/assets one by one).
    Let's know

P.S.; sorry for delays in answering but I have connection problem (provider), router keeps net connection but loose internet several times (has been "infected" by Bill's one?)

  • Encore CS4 - Main Menu Loops / Repeats Every Few Seconds (Blu-Ray)

    Hello there,
I am experiencing a rather unusual issue with Encore CS4 in which after burning my project to Blu-Ray the main menu (which has a two minute long audio track linked to it) appears to "reset" itself every one or two seconds repeatedly, thus making it next to impossible to select any of the buttons on the menu itself. (I should also note that I've tried playing this disc on both my Blu-Ray player and my computers Blu-Ray drive and both of them have produced the exact same results)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

The only thing I can think of to try is to delete the menu from your project (again!).  Also delete the .wav file asset.  Save the project, then close Encore.  Launch En and open any other project.  Go to Edit | Preferences | Media and clean the cache.  Re-open the problem project and re-import the .wav file and the menu.  Hopefully cleaning the cache will reset whatever En is doing with the menu audio.

  • For all of you who are having Motion Menu render problems - try this

Just humour me for a minute.
I have another Sonic application, and a known bug in the Motion Menu rendering applies to 29.97DF projects only.
    IE, NTSC.
Often the video in a motion menu will fail to mux.
    There are workarounds though.
1 - Make sure your GOP structure is 15 at most
2 - Make certain the frame length of your video file is divisible by the GOP structure. IE, it must be a multiple of 15 frames.
3 - if these both fail, reduce the bitrate of the video 500kbps at a time until it muxes. Most will work at 7,000, some need to be 6,000 and there are even times when you need to go as low as 4000.
Try it - Encore uses a Sonic Authorcore, so it's worth a look.

    >Are you saying that NTSC 29.97 divided by 15 is okay?
    Not really.
What I am saying is that your movie frame length should be divisible by the GOP structure with a GOP of 15.
With NTSC video, you can have GOP lengths
    i up to
18, but it is not mandatory to go to 18 - 15 is a perfectly acceptable figure. You could use a GOP of 12 if you really wanted to. What this means is typically the number of frames between I-Frames.
MPEG-2 encoding (AKA "Moving Pictures by Educated Guesswork") P & B frames work something like this:
i P-frames provide more compression than I-frames because they take advantage of the data in the previous I-frame or P-frame. I-frames and P-frames are called reference frames. To generate a P-frame, the previous reference frame is reconstructed, just as it would be in a TV receiver or DVD player. The frame being compressed is divided into 16 pixel by 16 pixel macroblocks. Then, for each of those macroblocks, the reconstructed reference frame is searched to find that 16 by 16 macroblock that best matches the macroblock being compressed. The offset is encoded as a "motion vector." Frequently, the offset is zero. But, if something in the picture is moving, the offset might be something like 23 pixels to the right and 4 pixels up. The match between the two macroblocks will often not be perfect. To correct for this, the encoder computes the strings of coefficient values as described above for both macroblocks and, then, subtracts one from the other. This "residual" is appended to the motion vector and the result sent to the receiver or stored on the DVD for each macroblock being compressed. Sometimes no suitable match is found. Then, the macroblock is treated like an I-frame macroblock. The processing of B-frames is similar to that of P-frames except that B-frames use the picture in the following reference frame as well as the picture in the preceding reference frame. As a result, B-frames usually provide more compression than P-frames. B-frames are never reference frames.
In short, the I-Frame is the full description reference frame. A P frame is also a reference frame but describes the difference between the last I-Frame & itself. A good analogy is when you are on the telephone & describing what you see to a friend. The initial background description (The street, the sky, what you can see etc) would be an I-Frame. Then you describe a person walking down the street - that would be your P-Frames, as you are only describing the i changes
    in the scene.
The bitrate can also affect things - I mentioned this too, and if a motion menu will not mux, first make sure that the film length is divisible by the GOP, and that the GOP is 15.
    If it
    i still
won't mux, drop the bitrate by factors of 500 until it will.

  • Encore CS3 motion menu disappear

I have a problem with motion menu. If I choose motion menu from Encore Library and put together with my videos, all is function OK. But if I put audio (MP3) to menu background, after 10 second motion menu disappears and remains buttons and background music. I have installed all patches. My system is Windows Vista Home Edition with patches applied.
    Where is a problem ?
Thank you for your answers ....

    >prefer to play all music not only 12 second
There are things that are not allowed according to the DVD specification (such as having one audio continue play when you click a menu) so I will GUESS this is one of those... you simply must make all parts fit to the same parameter (you can't pour 10 pounds of flour into a 5 pound bag)

  • Encore CS4 Crashing On Motion Menu Render

Working with a blu-ray project that has a total of 19 motion menus.  While attempting to render motion menus, the program crashes and takes me to a crash report screen.  I get no error message; just a crash and report screen.
The crash seems random in terms of when it occurs during the render process, so I cannot seem to narrow it down to a particular menu or file.  This crash occures both when building the project as well as when I try and render the menus through File>Render>Motion Menus.
I can find very little on the cause online, thus am attempting to post here in hopes that someone can share with me some answer as to how to fix this issue quickly.

  • Adobe Encore CS4, Blu-ray burning issues

    Greetings!
I'm trying to get some Blu-ray discs authored for a client and am running into a snag on the last 2 discs that remain. When it gets to actually writing to the BD media, it comes up with an error message (See screenshot).
This is starting to drive me up the wall as I've been fine all along with creating Blu-ray discs up until now, and I'm sure my client is getting anxious.
For what it's worth, I am using Verbatim DataLifePlus media, 25gb. As far as what I'm bringing into Encore (which I have been doing this method many times in the past with no snags whatsoever and getting great results), I'm using the Blu-ray M2V export option. There are no issues during the transcoding phase, it's just when it finally gets to actually writing to the media. I have created ISO's of the Blu-rays I'm trying to finish (Making the ISO files come out fine) and running into a snag using other software capable of burning disc images. With this said, what could be going on? Could my optical drive be kicking the bucket?
Also to point out, where it's telling me that there's not enough space, there is some remaining space.
An interesting thing to note as well, my write speed dropdown is grayed out (The media I'm using recommends 6X buring speed).
Any feedback would be hugely appreciated as I'm trying to get this job wrapped up.

If Ann's comment doesn't fix the issue for you, the most common workaround for this is to build to a folder and burn with ImgBurn (for PC) or toast (for Mac).
So what were the issues you ran into when you tried that.
I am sure you have searched this error, and you can see that there has been success in many situations. I do not believe that it is one problem.
I have generally believed that Ann is correct and that it refers to temporary storage on the hard drive. And users underestimate the amount of temporary hard disk drive space used.
Some users experience this error when they are creating dual layer BD disks, and a layer is more than 25G. Each video/layer must fit on one side.
And some users got resolution by reencoding to a lower bitrate (a 25G BD disk does not hold 25G). Encore uses padding to predict the size on disk (e.g. add 10% to the amount of space it predicts that build will use), and it can be wrong.
Always good to "run as administrator, though I don't know that ever fixed this issue if someone wasn't.

  • After Effect cs4 export and render issue

When I tried to render or export a video, After Effect(CS4)
become no respond and close, after that, my computer shut down too!
    My computer:
    Althon 64X 4600+
    2GB DDR2 Ram
    ATI HD5870 (500mb video Ram)
    Windows 7 32 bit
Can anybody can slove this problem for me?

Mylenium asked very pertinent questions.  I'll make some educated guesses, which may or may not apply.
First thing: 2 GB may seem like a ton of memory to you, but in AE-Land, it's NOTHING.  You need to trick that machine of yours out with memory.  On a 32-bit system, that would mean bringing it up to 4 GB.
If you're trying to use multiprocessing, turn it off and leave it off.  On a 32-bit system, you'll never have enough memory to make multiprocessing work efficiently.
Trying to speed rendering by using Open GL acceleration?  Turn that off, too.
Since you're on a 32-bit system, the most recent version of AE you can run is Version 9.  Make sure it's fully updated.
But if you shot video on a DSLR, HDV Camera, XDCam or Flip Cam, you could still have problems.  Since you can't be running AE 10, which pretty much solved the problem of long-gop footage, here's why:
    Dave's Stock Answer #1:
If the footage you imported into AE is any  kind of the following -- footage in an HDV acquisition codec, MPEG1, MPEG2, AVCHD, mp4, mts, m2t, H.261 or H.264 -- you need to convert it to a different codec.
These kinds of footage use temporal, or interframe compression. They have keyframes at regular intervals, containing complete frame information.  However, the frames in between do NOT have complete information.  Interframe codecs toss out duplicated information.
In order to maintain peak rendering efficiency, AE needs complete information for each and every frame. But because these kinds of footage contain only partial information, AE freaks out, resulting in a wide variety of problems.
I'm a Mac guy, so I like to convert to Quicktime movies in the Animation or PNG codecs; both are lossless.  I'll use Apple's Compressor, Adobe Media Encoder or Quicktime Pro to do it.

  • Encore CS4 Root menu problem

    Heya peeps,
On my main menu (the first one that appears when a dvd is inserted after a quick animation) if i click the button to start the movie and then press root menu the player takes me back to the main menu. However when i goto scene selection for the same movie (the scene selection menu is accessed via a button on the main menu) and choose a chapter then i press root menu it takes me back to the chapter menu. i want root menu to goto the main menu after choosing a chapter from the scene selection menu. please help

    Sure you can.
Go to the Build tab, or go to the Flowchart tab and select the disc icon.  The Properties panel for the disc will become available and you can set the Title remote function from there.

  • Encore CS4 Button & Loop Issues

I am building a DVD in Encore CS4 and have two issues. The DVD consists of a main menu with one button linked to the main timeline (3 min 45 sec) and a video(1 min 2 sec 21 frames) linked for the menu to have motion along with an audio clip with the same run time. The video and audio were exported from Encore CS4 as MPEG2-DVD.The loop point is set to 9 sec 11 frames and is set to forever.
Issue 1- When I try to preview the project in Encore before burning it starts as it should but stops at the loop point (9 sec 11 frames into it) and plays from the beginning. When I burn the DVD the loop works properly but I can not see it in the preview prior to burning. I wasted a couple of discs lining up the loop point due to no preview. I should also note that
Issue 2- When the DVD is burned and played it loads the menu which plays as it should. At the 9 second mark a button appears signifying the loop point which when selected begins the actual video, as it should. After the video finishes and it loops back to the 9 second mark the button vanishes. The only way to navigate at this point is to hit the top menu button which starts it from scratch.
I went back to a test burn I made and the button remained continuously after looping. What could I have hit that is now making the button vanish? And what can I do to get a full preview before going to build?
    Thanks for any thoughts.
    Cole

1 is a problem.  Encore's preview capabilities have never been flawless.  Use rewritable disks to avoid coasters.
2 is new, but I can't think of anythjing off hand to explain it.

  • CS4 Encore motion menu crash while transcoding (render motion menu)

    Hi,
I have a rather large but simple Blu-Ray project. I have a main menu (with a CS4 Premiere dynamically linked background video and WAV sound but no animation on buttons) that is linked to a series of video index menus with motion (the chapter are linked to six buttons that include video preview). All my videos are dynamically linked to a Adobe CS4 premiere sequence in five different projects. All the Adobe CS4 Premiere projects where manually transcoded with success. I have a total of 43 menus (including the main menu and one popup). Here is my problem...
In my Blu-ray project, every time render my motion menus, CS4 Encore crashes (no error message) and generates a crash report. The weird thing is that it never crashes at the same place. I can render from 1 to 6 menus before the crash. I have noting running except encore and I have no screen saver and my power settings is set to never.
I work on a Intell Quadcore 2.5 Mghz, 4 GB of RAM, Spphire HD4850 Graphic adapter (updated less than a week ago), Vista 32 (updated). All my CS4 apps. where updated less than a week ago.
    Any ideas???
Any help would be appreciated because I am getting very upset with CS4 Encore....

Finally I have found a workaround. I set all the motion menu's to no animation and build the projetc. Afterward, I put the animation on one menu and I render it. It is very long but it works. now my problem is elsewhere. On my output BD, some menu's only have a few second of animation before they loop. in some cases i dont even have a second. I have rebuilt my project and I have the same effetc but Encore seams to have put loop points at random.

  • "File not found" error when I try to render an animated menu (on mac) Encore CS4

I'm making a dvd with at least 2 animated menus. It means that I have a 1 movie in the background of each menu. Over my background, I have 3 thumbnail buttons which contain a small piece of movie animated movie too. When I try to to view my menus, in order to see the animation in the background and in the thumbnails I need to render the animation through File - Render - Motion menus.
The problem is that it works for the first menu but then when I continue my navigation to the second menu that has animation in background and thumbnails too, if I choose Render Motion menus, after 3/4 of the rendering it says "file not found" even if all the files are well in place in their folders.
Does anyone would have an idea of how to resolve this stupid problem that prevents me to burn my project on a DVD since the same errors will appear during the burning process (I use a mac with Encore CS4). Is it a bug? What are the solutions? Thanks for answering.
    Steven.

    SteveDVD,
The use of the .WMV was because that was part of the Library .EM template. I would not anticipate problems with other formats, so long as they are supported and the same for all of your Menus in the Project.
If you have done several Motion Menu Renderings, you might want to clear Encore's Media Cache, just in case it is still referencing previous Render files.
And yes, the re-Importation should yield the same result as Linking/re-Linking.
Unfortunately, I do not have CS4, so I can't test this for you. There do seem to be a few real Bugs in the various CS4 programs, and maybe this is one?
That "File Not Found" rings a bell in my feeble brain. Seems that there was a post on that, but I do not remember it being related to Motion Menus. Maybe search will yield something of use.
    Good luck,

  • Encore CS4 menu render error

Has anybody come across this error:
Adobe Encore has encountered an error.
    [..\..\Src\VideoFrameManipulators.cpp-478]
I'm getting it when rendering menus.  If i completely remove the video backgrounds from a project it builds fine.  The video file in question is just a typical AVI DV file.  I created an entire new project only loading in the menus. Render the menus and error pops up again.  I've tried converting the avi to quicktime (for the heck of it) and still get the same problem.  Very frustrating.  I have since done another project with video bgs and had no issues.
I'm using Vista 64bit.  Q6600 processor, 8GB memory, plenty of hdd space.
    thanks
    Ryan

    Ryan,
Tell us about your DV-AVI file. Does it have muxed Audio? If so, what format/CODEC for the Audio? What is its Duration? If it's not muxed, does the Duration of any Audio match perfectly (or very slightly shorter - not longer -  than) the Video portion?
Per Jim's comment, I have used WMV, DV-AVI, MPEG-2 and .MOV AV files, and have not encountered any problems with any of these.
Last thought, do you have any Button Transition AV files? If so, you need to make sure that the Audio portions for the Motion Menu and the Button Transitions matches.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
