Encore CS4 - Problem creating DVD folder

I have been trying to create a DVD in Encore CS4 and have discovered that if I select the option to create a DVD folder on my hard disk, the resultant VOB files are corrupted in some way (although their sizes and names seem to be correct). However, if I instead burn a disk directly from the transcoded sequence, the result is often fine. Has anybody else encountered this strange issue?
I'm using a quad core (Q660 2.4GHz) PC with 4GB of ram and plenty of spare hard disk space, running the 64 bit version of Vista home premium (SP1 applied). The footage (edited in Premiere CS4) is 1080 25p from an XDCAM PMW-EX1, transcoded to 720x576 (i.e. PAL).

In reply to the two responses so far posted (and thanks for these, by the way):
1. I have not tried creating an ISO image instead. To be honest, I am more interested in knowing why the DVD folder creation fails.
2. I check the VOB files by attempting to play them in a software DVD player (Power DVD). The corrupted ones result in a blank (black) screen and no audio. The ones successfully burnt straight to a DVD will play fine when the folder structure is copied onto my hard drive.

  • Encore CS4 problem uploading flash streams to remote ftp in build

    Hi
I'm working on a windows XP and trying to upload to my my remote server which has a new install of the Adobe Flash Streaming Media Server 3.5
    as for Encore
under build when creating a streaming flash I can't log into my ftp site, only to local folder.
I created a link to my ftp site under networks, when trying to link to this FTP Encore won't accept it.
no problem creating flash progressive downloads but impossible to upload the streaming version.
progressive is really not the desired output.
how can I log onto the ftp site?
    thanks in advance
    Klaus

If FTP still doesnt work for you, please try uploading videos to FTP server without using Encore (try windows FTP or a FTP client). If you cannot upload videos anyway, the problem could be with FTP server configuration.
Following are the steps to setup your streaming server. (Steps are for Microsoft IIS FTP server on WinXP. You can use another server also)
    1. You have to install a Flash Media Server 3.5 and a FTP server for this. FMS 3.5 free developer edition can be downloaded from www.adobe.com
    2. Install IIS on winXP from Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components (You may need a windowsXP installation DVD)
    3. Configure FTP server to point to "\Flash Media Server 3\applications\vod\media" folder
(FTP server can be configured from IIS window in Control Panel > Administrative Tools> IIS. Right click Default FTP site > Properties > Home Directory Tab > Set Local Path to "FMS3\applications\vod\media\media" folder)
    4. Encore streaming script for the server will still point to "\Flash Media Server 3\applications\vod" and not to Media folder inside Vod. (For example, if FMS server name is amgupta, FLV streaming location will be "rtmp://{FMServerName}/vod/"
    5. Encore streaming script should be updated at 2 places with the new server names. ("rtmp://FMSservername/vod/flv:" and ftp://FTPservername ). The script is located at "X\Adobe Encore CS4\Required\flashExportScript\localFMS.jsx" where X is the install location of Encore CS4)
    Hope this works.

  • Can't open Encore CS4 file created on iMac

Is there any way of opening an Encore CS4 project file (created on
a Mac) in the Windows XP version of Encore CS4???
Is this also a problem with the CS5 version of Encore?
    Thanks for any help/answers!

Unfortunately no. The NCOR files are not X-platform.

  • Newby problem - creating dvd from .wmv file

First - thank everyone/anyone in advance for helping me. Second - is there a basic video how-to somewhere to help me learn Premiere Elements? I am finding this program very hard to figure out on my own.
Here's the current problem - I created a slideshow with an audio track (a little music video) in Photoshop Elements 7, a .wmv file that I successfully uploaded to YouTube.  The file is 50k KB, under 5 minutes.
Copied the wmv file to a DVD.  When my Sony HDMI CD/DVD player said it couldn't play the disc, decided to try something else.
Imported the wmv file into Premiere Elements 7. Gave up trying to figure out how to create a title card, menu, etc, and since the video is just how I want it anyway, saved the file and tried burning it to disc.
Put in a Verbatim Lightscribe DVD+R disc, 4.7 GB, and prepared to burn from PE7.  The program said that the disc status was not blank - which it is, so I burnt to a folder on my hard drive instead - 4.7GB, according to the choice I made from the program.  From the folder, I burned the Video_ts file to the disc.  It still doesn't play in my DVD player.
I have reformatted the DVD to start fresh and make sure it is blank, but PE7 continues to read it as not blank.  Tried putting in a fresh disc newly opened, but the computer seems to format it automatically and still claims it is not blank.  Regardless, it is blank.
What am I doing wrong and how can I properly burn this little video to a DVD?  Just trying to show my grandmother the video.
Am working on HP HDX Premium laptop with Vista.
Thanks for any advice.  I'm in and out so may not respond promptly.

There is so much to be looked at in Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 7, used as standalone or intergrated.
I like to look at the Help PDF under the Help Menu of each and follow through from "Getting Started" and onward.
When you create a slideshow in Photoshop Elements 7, the preferred route to the DVD-VIDEO generated by Premiere Elements 7 is via Photoshop Elements 7 Slideshow Editor Output Option "Send To Premiere Elements". Once the slideshow (in a video form) arrives on the Premiere Elements Timeline, you then have an opportunity for further edits (if you want to) using the "Break Apart Adobe Photoshop Elements Slideshow" Command (right click video on Timeline and select that command).
In Premiere Elements 7, you can burn your slideshow to disc (DVD-VIDEO Format on DVD disc). It is important to remember that the player has to support the disc type as well as the format on that disc. Try using a different brand type and/or disc type like DVD-R and see how you do. If you burn to folder, you burn just the VIDEO_TS (all files) housed in the saved folder, using a Burn Video Images category in the 3rd party burn software such as Nero, Record Now. Do not use Make Data Disc, a common mistake. The "playable disc" category mentioned in an earlier thread is sort of a functional name rather than the category name you will find in most of these 3rd party burn softwares. If you need a step by step for Nero or Record Now, I will supply that on request.
But, you have a .wmv version of your slideshow that you want to get into DVD-VIDEO format on a DVD disc for playback on the TV.
    This is my suggestion:
In Premiere Elements 7, after import to Timeline, Create Menus...
    Share/Disc/Disc
Preset: NTSC Standard or Widescreen or PAL equivalent, depending on your location
check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space"
Disc Type: DVD-R (never used before disc, out of the box)
    OR
In a software such as Nero, Record Now
Use Burn Video Files to DVD category to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a DVD-R disc
    OR
Use ImgBurn software (free download software which I find extremely "strange", but it works http://www.imgburn.com/)
Follow instructions for burning the VIDEO_TS to a DVD-R disc

  • Encore CS4 Burn to DVD+R possible?

    Hello:
Can someone please tell me ASAP if Encore is capable of burning a movie to a DVD+R. I have had success with DVD-R but at the moment I only have DVD+R.  I noticed that the -R was an option in the build project settings but did not see a selection for +R.
    Thanks for a reply.

Tell Encore to create an ISO on hard drive, then use the FREE Imgburn to write the disc

  • Problem creating DVD

once i've added the media to the DVD i click on the create project button. it takes it forever to get to the next screen and when it does it says that i need to change the encoding thing in the project info, but i won't let me do that either. i'm not sure wat to do.
any hints to help me along?

    Hi
    1. How much free space is there on Your internal boot hard disk ?
    • Other doesn't count
I have a minimum of 25Gb free when starting to burn my DVDs
    2. If You have lot's of external hard disks - Spotlight may slow things down.
    • Go into System pref and to Spotlight
    • Here select Integrity
    • Add all hard disks
Now Spotlight CAN'T Search - BUT You are free to use full speed in iDVD
Don't forget to set it back when done.

  • Encore failed to Create DVD

Spent hours trying to find out what the issue is, a know bug it turns out.
Try nero vision, works great on the  Premier streams

    Joe,
Nothing to worry about. Several HAVE encountered the problem. However, only one person, to my knowledge, was ever to duplicate it, and that was Jeff Bellune, using the same Assets (provided by the poster) and their NCOR file.
I, and several others, have never been able to get the error, even with the posters' Assets. While a problem, when it hits, there seem to be far too many variables at play, to pin things down. All too often the posts have been along the lines of "Hey, I get the same error," and no details are given, though repeated requests are made.
It's tough to track something like this down, when no one knows the system used, the Assets used, or even the structure of the Project.
Also, where some found "fixes," for their error, those same fixes did not work for others. To my way of thinking this removes the error from the realm of Bug, and into the arena of either System, Assets or Project, but that's just me.
I've seen close variations of the PGC errors in the PE forum. That program is kinda' like a combo of PrPro and Encore in a very lite version. Still, there are some program components that are common between En and PE. Again, these errors usually cease, when on redoes the Project. Again, that points toward something with the Assets, or the Project, though System might not be able to be ruled out - except that the redone Projects are on the same System.
I'd love to hear of a 100% iron-clad fix for every possible combo of Assets, Project and System, but gave up trying, as I could never replicate the error, no matter what I did to the posters' material.
Guess that it will likely remain a case of the unexplained.
To anyone, who experiences the PGC Error, and finds this thread, please list your entire System, complete details of your Assets and a full description of your Project. Also, give the details on what you are doing, when you get the error. All of that info might play a big role in someone helping you. To say, "it happened to me too," is not going to cut it. You have to do some homework to help anyone help you. Yes, the PGC Error exists. Most of us know about it. Without all necessary details, no one can possibly help you, and the only suggestion will be "start over from scratch."
    Good luck,
    Hunt

Make sure your folder having administration rights.
some folders property is read only... so check by right clicking on the folder and the properties.

  • Encore CS4: Exporting in 16:9

I recently switched to shooting in 16:9 rather than 4:3, and am using Encore CS4 to create a DVD from this footage. However, the DVD comes out in 4:3, with the people looking distorted. How can I tell Encore to use 16:9?
    Thank you.

OK, I didn't want to get into this because it's going to make me sound
    stupid...but since you asked:
I thought the TV I was using to view the DVD was a widescreen TV. It has a
physical appearance which would lead one to believe this. I know...how
could anyone not tell the difference? Well I couldn't, until I looked the
model up online and saw that the PAR was listed as 4:3. In my defense I
will say that I rarely use this particular TV (but I still feel pretty
    stupid).
Anyway, the DVD player was set for a PAR of 16:9, which would have worked
just fine if the TV had in fact been widescreen, but since the TV was 4:3,
it scrunched the people up to look unnaturally tall and thin. When I
changed the PAR to 4:3 letterbox, the distortion disappeared. When I saw
this I thought "Oh, it must not be a widescreen TV," because why else would
switching to any type of 4:3 solve the problem?
Your suggestion pointed me in the right direction. I did not realize that I
had to set the PAR on the DVD player itself. I was certain the problem had
    to be something in Encore.
    Thank you.

  • Encore CS4 Button & Loop Issues

I am building a DVD in Encore CS4 and have two issues. The DVD consists of a main menu with one button linked to the main timeline (3 min 45 sec) and a video(1 min 2 sec 21 frames) linked for the menu to have motion along with an audio clip with the same run time. The video and audio were exported from Encore CS4 as MPEG2-DVD.The loop point is set to 9 sec 11 frames and is set to forever.
Issue 1- When I try to preview the project in Encore before burning it starts as it should but stops at the loop point (9 sec 11 frames into it) and plays from the beginning. When I burn the DVD the loop works properly but I can not see it in the preview prior to burning. I wasted a couple of discs lining up the loop point due to no preview. I should also note that
Issue 2- When the DVD is burned and played it loads the menu which plays as it should. At the 9 second mark a button appears signifying the loop point which when selected begins the actual video, as it should. After the video finishes and it loops back to the 9 second mark the button vanishes. The only way to navigate at this point is to hit the top menu button which starts it from scratch.
I went back to a test burn I made and the button remained continuously after looping. What could I have hit that is now making the button vanish? And what can I do to get a full preview before going to build?
    Thanks for any thoughts.
    Cole

1 is a problem.  Encore's preview capabilities have never been flawless.  Use rewritable disks to avoid coasters.
2 is new, but I can't think of anythjing off hand to explain it.

  • A question about Encore CS4 Authoring Mode.

How does Encore CS4 "Authoring Mode", DVD or BLU-RAY, in the projects panel affect the workflow?
It seems that no matter what mode you select, you can still choose to author either a dvd or blu-ray disc in the "Build" panel.

    Ok...
I think i figured it out. Appearently the author mode determines whether dvd or blu-ray transcoding will occur when you build or transcode now.

  • Blu-ray says capacity too big when burning DVD Rom Folder Encore CS4

I have tried 3 times now to burn a Blu-ray Image file with a DVD rom Content Folder. The Blu-ray Image size is 45.90gb and the content folder is 1.6gb. The disk is a Sony DL 50gb Blu-ray. I have not tried to burn direct to disk because cost of Blu-rays. I am using Encore CS4. Is it that you cannot make an image file with DVD-rom for DL Blu-rays. Is there a number preset by Adobe for image file size for DL Blu-ray. Please help

45.90 GB on your hard drive and 1.6 GB on your hard drive add up to 47.60 GB.
In computer GB, (47.60 x 2^30) that's over 51 billion bytes. Sony and other blank media manufacturers report the capacity of their blank discs in normal GB (50 x 10^9), or 50 billion bytes.
Your project is too big to fit on the blank media that you have.

  • Encore CS4 creating multiple DVDs

    Windows 7
    Ram 6GB
    Encore CS4
    Gentlemen !
I have a footage , which is about 7 hours long(Video ntsc) , besides cutting the footage into few pieces, is there any way I can create a set of DVDs, like a let's say DVD1 through 3 or 4
    Here is what I do
I import my 7 hours footage , then I create a "TimeLine" on the time line I set chapter marks and I assign each chapter mark to a scene on the main page.
Before I used to do the same thing with 2 or 3 hours footage and it would work fine , but now that my footage is too long , its says all videos cannot fit on one disk , so
Is there any way I can put them on several DVDs ?
    Thanks.

Create the separate pieces in Premiere Pro, and export as MPEG2-DVD, ready for Encore to put on disk.
Encore does not do a good job when you put a very large timeline in and crop it, etc.
4 disks will make it easier to break them up in terms of content. You are looking to keep the time under 2 hours per disk max. You can make multiple timelines per disk if that suits the material better.
You'll need to calculate the bitrate to use for the export from PR. If you calculate the fullest disk, you can use those settings for all of them. But you can calculate it for each disk, and get somewhat better quality on the disks that are not as full.
