Encore CS4 refuses to see Blu-ray burner

Using Encore CS4, I had previously been able to burn HD video using my LG Blu-ray burner. Recently though i have been unable to build my projects and bun to Blu-ray. I get a "None Found" from the Recorder selection of the Build Project window even though the burner does display as an option when I select DVD as the recording format. I believe that one of two possibliites exist: 1. Some other software driver has broken my blu-ray driver and Encore can no longer see it, or 2. Some other software has captured the blu-ray burner device and Encore can no longer use it. I have already removed "Nero" because i have herad that it can cause Encore grief. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,

  • Encore CS4 does not recognize Blue Ray External Driver

I just bought a LG blue ray external drive writer which comes with Cyberlinks SW. From Premiere, I opened Encore to burn (build) a sequence on the LG Blue-Ray burner, but it does not work: - In En Project setting, the “Player” is grayed-out and only “Adobe Player” is displayed. - In En Build tab, when I choose the Format as Blue Ray and Output as Blue Ray Disk, the Build button is grayed out and Recorder shows None Found. However when I change the Format to DVD, the Build settings automatically change and the Recorder LG Blue Ray is shown. How do I make En to recognize the LG Blue Ray and burn in Blue ray format? Thanks, Vlad.

There are many threads in the Encore forum regarding reasons that burners are not seen. Most of these problems can be traced back to specific software, and most of the rest have to do with how the hardware is set up. You can find most of these in the main forum, and the Burning DVD sub-forum, with a Search.
First thing that I'd check is that your OS sees your hardware. In Windows, Control Panel>System>Device Manager. Check here (or within your OS) to make sure that it's just not a bad installation.
    Good luck,

  • Encore CS4, Windows 7 (beta) + Blu-ray = blam!

Anyone else testing on Windows 7 (beta) seen this? On Win7, I've had no issues with Encore through 3 DVD projects, and rendering with After Effects to both MPEG-2 (DVD) and H-264 (Blu-ray 1280x720) has been fast (at least 3x faster than Encore on Vista), but the instant I choose "Blu-ray" from the Build menu, or import a H.264 asset, everything in Windows 7 freezes and I have to do a hard reboot. It's the only Windows 7 major issue I've had so far.
I've been able to reliable replicate this at least 4 times - start Windows 7 64-bit, open Encore CS4 (fully updated), create a brand new Blu-ray project, and (since the first screen I see says "Build DVD") change the Build drop-down to DVD and - oops, the mouse is frozen, the CPU's pretty much stopped... no, it IS stopped or in some loop or something, but Windows is frozen.
I'm not expecting Adobe support, but hopefully they can remedy this in the future and - a warning - close all your apps before you try this on your machine. If I switch over to Vista Ultimate 32-bit, I can do the whole blu-ray project through to burning with no errors (I still prefer to transcode in AE, Encore is a slug), but I can't get past that drop-down on Windows 7. Odd.
My specs: 8GB RAM, Q6600, oodles of HD space, CS4 Master Collection, all latest revs and patches.

You need to do following things to get it working -
    1.     Install the new pxhlp driver from http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/kb/General%20Information/000070GN&PARAMS=
    2.      Turn off the sleep mode off in Windows 7.
Steps to turn off the sleep mode -
    1. Go to control panel
    2. Click on system and security
    3. click on power option
    4. click on change plan settings for Power saver
    5. Set the "Put the computer to sleep" value to "Never"

  • Encore CS4 is transcoding compliant Blu-Ray audio assets when set to 'Do not transcode'

    Hi there,
I have a Blu-Ray concert video project consisting of 3-menus, 4-sequentially linked timelines (intro-1, intro-2, main concert timeline, and credits).
All audio assets consist of 96k/24-bit WAV files from the same professionally rendered mastered audio source.
    Here's the issue:
When importing my 96k/24-bit audio assets in Encore CS4, they all show as Blu-Ray compliant and maintain the 'Do not transcode' property in the assets menu.
However, after rendering the project to Blu-Ray I immediately noticed that the main concert timeline (2-hrs 10-min) had been transcoded down to 48k/16-bit while the other smaller intro/credits timelines had rendered correctly and were playing back at the desired 96k.24-bit rate.
In order to eliminate possible issues with the main timeline's audio file source, I created a smaller main timeline (35-min) using the exact same audio source files and lo & behold - the main timeline was not down-transcoded and is playing back at the desired 96k/24-bit rate.
I'm wondering if there is a non-documented limitation in rendering audio files over a certain size as my main timeline is made up of 2-total WAV files of 2.2Gb each.
I have the ability to import a single AIFF file at 4.4GB for the main timeline - but for some reason CS4 does not recognize AIFF files as Blu-Ray compliant and will show the transcode setting as 'Automatic'.
Imported AIFF files always showed as 'Do not transcode' in the Blu-Ray assets menu in Encore CS3 (even though there is a documented bug which prevents rendering AIFF audio to Blu-Ray and I would have to convert to WAV files and re-import anyway in CS3).
My next step is to try splitting the main timeline into shorter chunks, but this is not the direction I want to go in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    -Cheers

Ok, solved my own problem - solution below for those with similar issues.
    1. My audio timelines exported from Final Cut Pro as AIFF are actually 'AIFC' which is technically not Blu-Ray compliant, thus Encore will need to transcode. Unfortunately - Encore has no quality preset settings for dealing with PCM audio transcodes higher than 48k/16-bit (why not?). Encore CS4 will happily pass 96k/24-bit through to a Blu-Ray build without transcoding if the supplied file is true AIFF (not-AIFC) and/or similarly compliant WAV files.
    2. My main Encore timeline consisted of 2-WAV files at 2.2Gb each placed in a single Encore timeline due to the total audio being over 4GB thus requiring me to split the source audio files in half in order to stay under the 4GB limit for WAV files, and also because I had to export the FCP audio timeline using Compressor in order to generate Blu-Ray compliant audio files (non-AIFC). Also - (possible bug?) if Encore has 2-separate audio files in the same timeline it will transcode the audio to the current project's default audio settings (48k/16-bit in my case) - even though the assets are showing as 'Do not transcode' in the asset menu for Blu-Ray. It clearly states in the Encore CS4 manual that imported WAV files at 96k/24-bit will not be transcoded - but it appears in this case when 2-audio files are placed in the same timeline that it will transcode with no warning - bothersome to say the least.
I suppose the alternative is to work with a lossless audio format which supports files larger than 4GB - which would only require a single audio file for a single Encore timeline, but other than DTS Master Audio (not available on this project) I'm not sure what audio format would work in Encore to support 96k/24-bit audio files larger than 4GB.
If anyone knows - drop some knowledge!
    -Cheers

  • Will Adobe Encore CS4 burn MTS files to an external blue ray burner if I buy one?

Will Adobe Encore CS4 recognize/burn MTS files to an EXTERNAL blue ray burner if I buy one?

Internal vs external should not matter.
I have a burned to external with CS4, but it was a long time ago.
And most importantly, Encore is not a reliable burner for many users, and they, and I, use imgBurn rather than Encore to burn.
Also, "burn an MTS" file is totally different from authoring and burning. Encore (was it by CS4?) added a limited AVCHD passthrough option. I have not used it.

  • I don't see a blu-ray icon in the destination window of my Final Cut Pro app even if I have an LG blu-ray burner connected

I have a MACBOOK PRO running under 10.9 and 4 Gigs memory. I bought FCP to be able to burn blu-rays videos (I produced a 4h30 video on a trip to Turkey)
My video is produced in full HD. I have an LG blu-ray burner. I bought training videos on FCP at Macpro Video and they show that going on SHARE and selecting ADD A NEW DESTINATION will bring a window where should be an icon of a blu-ray disc. But I don't see any blu-ray icon there. My burner is the model BP40NS20

Thanks Tom! Yes, I have the french version. Then, is there a something to do to correct it.

  • Blu-ray burning

I want to burn my HDV 50i movie from Premiere Pro CS4 to Blu-ray disc. I click File > Output > Media, then select HDV etc, MPEG2 Blu-ray, start queue and it does the encoding. When it's finished it doesn't ask me to insert a disc, or where to burn it to, or anything. It just sits there doing nothing. If I look in My Documents\Adobe\PremierePro\4.0 I can find the movie, but if I drag and drop it to the Blu-ray, it says "Some files could not be added because the formats are not supported or the files could not be found." What is wrong? My Blu-ray burner is LG GGW-H20L, my HD is 500GB, 3GB RAM, Intel 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz

Do you HAVE to use Encore or not to burn Blu-ray? Some say you do, some say you don't.
I looked at the video "Exporting your project" and everything works fine up to the point where the film is fully rendered in Adobe Media Encoder, except she says it goes into a folder called Exercise Files\Assets - it doesn't - it goes into 4.0 Then she says you can export it to wherever you want but she doesn't tell you how.
The only way I can find the rendered movie is to click File > Export > Media again and click Output Name which brings up the Save As window where the movie is listed, then R click on it and send it to Instant Burn CD, but then it either does nothing, or it says "D:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function", or it says "Windows cannot read from this disc, or you could be using a format that is not compatible with windows."
Then I read the tutorial called "Authoring and burning Blu-ray discs." I did all the right things in Encore, Clicked OK, and it briefly flashed up a window saying it was importing the project or something, then that vanished, and nothing else happened. So nothing works!
Am I very stupid, or is my system totaly crap?
    Tim

  • Change the Blu-Ray burn speed from within PRE9

I burned a 2 hour video to Blu-Ray last night from within PRE9, and it all turned out well. Except it took maybe 5 or 6 hours to burn (its 6x speed disc).
Is this to be expected? I don't see any settings for burning speed from within PRE9.
I burned a 2 hour test Blu-Ray the other day from within the software that the Blu-Ray burner came with (where you can adjust the burn speed), and I could swear it was much faster. But I don't want to waste another disc just to test this out.
    Thanks
    Greg

Unfortunately, PrE does not allow one to alter the Burn Speed. The "big brother," Encore has that capability.
In PrE, I suggest doing a Burn to Folder, and then the great, free burning utility, ImgBurn, which allows that adjustment. However, without extra software (virtual BD burner software), PrE does not allow BD Burn to Folder, at least not yet.
    Sorry for the bad news,

  • How to burn full hd clips onto dvd-r with Blu-ray burner to playback on a set top Blu-ray player?

    hello,
Blu-ray media is still expensive for exporting of small HD projects.
    If i have a Blu-ray burner,
can i burn BD exports onto DVD-r's (4.7Gb)
and play them in a set top Blu-ray player?
aka:  Does a DVD-r accept a 'blue laser'?
(Menus at this point are not necessary)
Mostly i am wanting to burn 3-4 minute music videos onto DVD-r discs
in full HD Blu-ray without having to use an expensive Blu-ray disc each time.
    thanks
    j

    hello,
at this time the answer is yes
they are called BD5 and BD9 discs
the BD5 is a single layer DVD-r disc that holds BDMV
the BD9 is a dual layer DVD-r disc that holds BDMV
now i'm trying to see if Encore CS5 burns BD5/BD9 discs?
    thanks,

  • DVD & Blu Ray Burner Drive Trays Do Not Stay Open When Media is in the Drive

I have a problem with both Windows 8/8.1 and the Windows 10 Technical Preview (there is no issue when I run Windows 7).
I have 2 optical drives: 1) DVD Burner and 2) Blu Ray Burner (I just got the second drive a few weeks ago). They are attached to the secondary SATA Chip (see below for specifics).
The problem I'm having is that when I eject media from either drive, the drive does not stay open, but rather immediately closes. Before I got the Blu Ray Burner, I had this problem with just the single DVD Burner by itself. I was hoping when I installed
Windows 10 Technical Preview that this problem would not be present, but it is present in that O/S as well.
This problem will repeat continuously if I attempt to use the eject button and so I either have to grab the disc while the tray is moving, or if I press the eject button again on the drive at the right time, I can get it to re-open and not close (this
is tricky to get the button timing right as it seems like it has to be done close to when the drive tray is fully extended when it starts retracting). It usually takes me 5 to 10 button presses to get it to stay open. Sometimes it will stay open for about
0.5 to 1s before it closes again, but most of the times it just immediately closes. I also have the same problem if I use the software eject feature by right clicking on the drive and choosing eject.
Of course, the expected behavior is that pressing the eject button should open the tray, but not close it immediately allowing you to remove the disc.
Here is some background information about my system and how the drives are connected:
    1. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-ED3P Revision 1.0 LGA 775
    2. Interface (for both drives): Gigabyte SATA II Chip - 2 x SATA 3 GB/s connectors (GSATA2_0, GSATA2_1) supporting up to 2 SATA 3 GB/s devices
    3. Memory: 8 GB (4 x 2 GB)
It should be noted that I tri-boot between Windows 7, 8/8.1, and 10 Technical Preview and that this issue is not present in Windows 7, but has always been there in Windows 8/8.1 and now it is present in 10TP as well.
I've had this system for just over 6 years now and it is still going strong. It should be noted that I have both drives on the secondary SATA chip (as identified above), which is meant to be used with removable SATA devices.
Since the problem exhibits itself in both Windows 8/8.1 and 10TP, a reinstall of the O/S will have no affect on this problem and so this appears to be some other issue that is consistent between Windows 8/8.1 and 10TP.
I'd appreciate your support in looking at this issue - thanks!
    Matt Caspermeyer
P.S. I also submitted this feedback through the Insider Program.

    Hey Zagayer,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
As you now have two optical drives in your Mac Pro, you need to be able to choose which drive to eject.  That is built into the system.  You just hold the Option key while tapping eject for the 2nd drive.
OS X Mountain Lion: Eject a disk
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10613
If your computer has two optical drives, hold down Option-Media Eject or Option-F12 to eject a disc from the second drive.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Blu Ray burn problem

I'm trying to burn a blu-ray disk from a 5 minute FCP X video.  Each time I try I get the following message:
The bit rate of the video file exceeded the maximum allowable.
How can I work around this?

What Blu-ray burner do you have? Is it recognized in the Device Manager under DVD/CD-ROM drives? Driver and Firmware up to date?
What burn software came with the Blu-ray burner? If it is part of the CyberLink family, can you use the PowerProducer of the series to burn to Blu-ray disc format on a Blu-ray disc using these Blu-ray discs that Premiere Elements burn dialog is labelling "Media Not Present"? I would like to see the results of that test if possible.
Just to get it out of the way (maybe helpful), let us flush the preferences...
Assuming your Premiere Elements 11 is on Windows 7 or 8 64 bit....
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11
and in the 11 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs Folder that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 11 Folder in which it exists.Make sure that you are working with Folder Options/Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the path described.
If that does not work, a complete Deactivation from Help Menu/Deactivate followed by the usual Control Panel uninstalled followed by reinstall may be in order. I am hoping the results from a CyberLink PowerProducer burn to may give us some valuable information so that we do not have to resort to uninstall/reinstall.
Are you using BD-R 25 GB 2X? What is this BD-R DL? Is that the 50 GB for Blu-ray? Do you have any BD-RE 25 GB 6X? How much are you planning on putting on this Blu-ray disc in terms of Space Required and duration?
Let us start here and then we can decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • How do I stop my Blu-Ray burner from "sleeping" or going offline?

I recently installed a PIONEER BD-RW BDR-206 Blu-Ray burner in my Mac Pro.  After about an hour or so it apparently goes to sleep or does something where the computer does not recognize it anymore.  And I can't do anything to bring it back other than restart the computer.
This poses a significant problem when I use Compressor to burn Blu-Ray discs because Compressor might take 10 hours to process, then when it's done I lose everything because it can't burn the disc because the computer doesn't see the blu-ray burner anymore.
The only way I've found to get around this is to eject and then close the burner every hour or so.  That's a good band aid, but not acceptable.  Especially when I set to burn overnight or I leave the office for the day.
I've gone through System Settings and do not see anything pertaining to this, but I'd be happy to admit if I've overlooked something to fix this issue!
    Please offer any feedback,
    Thank you.
    Eric P

Thanks Dennis.   I believe I did try that option to no avail.  After talking with the techs where I got it (MacSales or MacWorld... don't remember off hand now) they said that that particular burner was known for this issue with Macs.  They work with Macs, but they have that problem of going offline even if all computer settings say to stay active.  I ultimately purchased a different brand burner and now it works no problem.
I also bought a casing for the old Pioneer so that I could still use it.
    Thanks,
    Eric
