Encore cs6 button selection vs. activation

Having trouble figuring out what I'm doing wrong with my menu buttons. I'm trying to make buttons that show both selection (a blue marker) and activation (a red marker).
Here's my layers in Photoshop cs6:
And here's what Encore is showing me:
Note that in the Encore menu panel I clicked on the "show selected state" button to get the picture shown above. I was surprised that I didn't get all blue button markers. Blue is the color of the (=1) prefixed layers in Photoshop. Red is the color of the (=2) prefixed layers.
What Encore actually seems to be doing is just showing the layer at the top of the layer stack for the button, without any regard to the prefix. I say that because I get exactly the same results when I click on the "show activated state" button in the Encore menu panel.
What I want, is for the selected state to show a blue marker, and for the activated state to show a red marker. Seems simple, yet I've been beating my head against the wall for the last day trying to make it work. I've read the docs over and over and, well, they aren't helping. So I'm asking here: What am I doing wrong to mess this up?

Stan Jones wrote:
I cannot get this straight, but the actual appearance is set by the color set. You probably have "automatic" set, and the defaults are for the selected and activated to be the same. Depending on the player, activated is very short. Change the color set to "default," and you may be able to see a difference.
I've got to play with this some more.
You got it. This is, um, odd stuff. Very odd. But it is what it is. It would be nice if Adobe included a tutorial on this stuff somewhere, because it's not at all clear in the manuals.
Now tell me if you can, how does one pick which highlight group to use (default appears to be group 1), and then, what do the three levels mean inside each group?
I've "solved" the problem by making all three numbers the same colors for selected, and all the same (but a different color) for activated. Seems to work. But I'd like to know why.

  • How to make transparent buttons in Encore CS6?

    Hello all ~
I'm making a DVD for a corporate conference.  I would like to use the company's logo for the navigation button on the DVD.  There will be text indicating the menus, then the “logo button” will navigate to the text so you can select the menu you want. What I would like is this:
Button State 1 (static) – logo button would be completely transparent with no highlight.
Button State 2 (selected) – logo button would be visible with no highlight
Button State 3 (clicked) – logo  button would flash with a highlighted color then go to the selected menu.
I have scoured the interwebs to figure out a way to accomplish this, and have had no luck.  I have used archaic nomenclature  (+, =1, =2), have fiddled with Menu Color Sets, and have even bowed down to Adobe’s infamous and unstoppable motto of  “when trying to do anything with our software, it is going to take 12 utterly complex steps when really it should be simple” by trying to edit the button menu in Photoshop then round-tripping back to Encore. But alas all of this has been to no avail.
If anyone can help me with this, I would be most grateful.  I have no doubt that it will happen, as you guys have been awesome in the past in solving these mysteries.
    Thanks much,
    SM

Hope this thread gets answered at some point so it can help someone else in the same situation.
The following is not really a response to the request to add an actual image as a highlight, but one method that will work for some situations. This uses multiple layers, one color per layer, to create a multicolor highlight.
I took part of one of our gallery logos, which is a multi-layer Illustrator file.
In Illustrator, I re-combined layers to create 3 layers (the red, the black, and the eye) and exported as PSD. So, from Encore, edit the menu in Photoshop, and we see the 3 layers stacked with the "eye" on top and the black markings over the red.
Each layer is a "single" highlight color layer. They are assigned,  however, to different highlight prefixes (=1, =2, =3), so we can control the color using the Encore menu layer set.
In Encore, we set the menu properties for Color Set to "Menu Default" (not Automatic) and edit the menu color set. You can also save a custom menu color set.
The 1, 2, 3 correspond to the =1, =2, etc in the menu layers. You can set the color here. It does not matter what the color was in Photoshop. The logo does not appear in the "normal state" because all the opacities are set to 0%. It appears in the selected state with the opacity set to 47%. And appears 100% when activated. All buttons are set to Highlight Group 1, so group 2 is ignored.
    So normal:
    Selected:
    and Activated:

  • Encore CS6 - Bluray; some buttons with wrong color (precomposed White Wedding)

    Hello,
Yesterday, I've authored a DVD with the White Wedding template from precomposed. Everything is fine and ok!
Today, I started with the Blu-ray version of the same movie.
So, I created a new project, import the menu assets/menus/videos. Linked everything and created the Blu-ray-image.
All things are fine exept the buttons from the Scenemenu. In Encore, Photoshop and the preview from Encore, the buttons are black. But when I view it with PowerDVD they are grey.
On the Mainmenu, I've used the same buttons in black and they are black in PowerDVD. Same for the special features menu. It's also ok.
I've used this template a lot on Encore CS5.5 and never have a problem. But I need CS6 for the chapterplaylists (Blu-ray).
Strange thing is that the DVD is good but the Blu-ray version not.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction

    Some pics.
Above: This is the menu layout from Photoshop.
Above: Menu color set and buttons without previous and next buttons.
The four buttons belong to Highlight group 1 and the other to group 2.
    After more trying:
What I've done: Removing transparency from the Photoshop file. The four buttons are white (ffffff).
When setting the Selected state in Encore to 93%, there is a lot of transparency (looks much more than 93%) in the four buttons and the 'Heart-button' has no transparency. But when I go below the 93%, the heart-button becomes transparent and it looks that the transparency from the four buttons didn't change. The stay very transparent and grayish.
But in Encore all looks  good.
    Edit:
When I set the transparency in Photoshop to 93%, I got also transparency on the four buttons and not on the Heart and next/prev buttons. I can even go to 92%, but below that, the buttons are messed up.

  • Encore CS6: I have to click under a button for it to work. Button/Menu Problems

I have created a menu with adobe encore cs6 and photoshop. everything seems to be in the right place but when i preview the menu, some buttons are the way i made them but others i have to click below the image for it to work. I do not know what other information you will need.

From Encore, right click the menu and "edit in Photoshop." Look at each button group and make sure that every layer is positioned correctly.
If that doesn't show you the problem, in Encore in the menu viewer, click the "show routing" button. Then give us a screenshot. (That is the simplest way I know to show the bounding boxes of all the buttons.)
Let us know if you get it sorted!

  • Buttons in Encore CS6 are disappearing/changing color in preview and on DVD

Running Encore CS6 on Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8
I have everything in Encore running smoothly, the only problem is I've laid out the buttons (created from text in Photoshop CS6) and when I go to preview the DVD menu the Buttons will go white, partially disappearing - a vague outline of some is available.
Below is the image as it should appear - this is how it was designed and how it shows up in the Encore viewer window
And Here is how the image is showing up when I try to preview or when it is burned to a DVD. Note that the Images that are not buttons have no problem and stay the same - it's only the ones made into buttons that are the issue.
After browsing other Adobe forums it was suggested to change the (=1) next to the button in photoshop to (=2) or (=3), I tried this and it did nothing.
I don't know how common this issue is, but hopefully I can get some help with this issue.
    Thanks.

Same here!  I found this very confusing link below which gives me files that won't open in the recommended  7-zip and gives errors in winzip. I can find some menus, but not the old ones such as the wedding menus that I used to have with CS5.5.
I'm not even sure what the 'premiereproCs6content' files are supposed to provide. Regardless the executables within it creates errors, when I try to run it.
Can somebody let me know where I can find those missing menus?, or give me a logical process to make this work? I'm on downloadable CS6 master collection. Thanks, Andy

  • Help Me with Encore CS6 Menu and buttons

Hi I need help with Encore CS6 Menu's.  I have a Premiere CSs 6 video which is 3 hours long and 21 chapters.  It looks like I can get 18 of the buttons to work.  I also want to set up a exit button.  Is there a 18 button limit to a menu?  Should I be looking at using menu index's or play lists?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Ed

I assume you have a single video on one timeline, and you have chapter markers for your chapters.
A button (e.g. "play movie") links to the timeline (default is chapter one, which is what you want). The end action of the timeline is "last menu."
Commonly, a second button on the main menu goes to a chapters menu. Each chapter menu has links back to the main menu and to the next and previous chapter menus.
For EACH chapter, you create a chapter playlist with that one chapter in it. The end action of the chapter play list is "return to last menu."
There are no end actions on chapters and no overrides anywhere in the project using this method.

  • Encore CS6 missing Menu

    Hello,
I recently purchased Adobe Creative Cloud. I want to make a DVD disk using Encore CS6, but the menus are missing. Can you let me know how to get the menu presets installed in the Encore cs6?
    Thanks in  advance,

Go to the link below and follow the directions at the top of the page called "Solution: Install the CS6 Functional Content." This installs the primary functional content. It applies to Premiere and Encore. After th is, in Encore, you will have only a small selection of menu templates; no buttons etc.
Warning: when you run this, it will delete the Encore library from CS5. I don't know how it may affect the various Encore directories: CS5/CS5.5. Backup/rename those directories before, so you can replace them if you keep the earlier versions active.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/library-functional-content-missing.html
After you do that, go back to that same link and follow the directions at the bottom of the page called "Additional solution: Install the Resource Central library content."
This applies only to Encore, and at the end,  you will have all the buttons, backgrounds, and more full menus.
There are more items than in CS5, so it is better to follow this than just to copy the old library over (although that will get you in business).

  • Media pending with Encore CS6

    Hello,
I have a very large project built with Premiere Pro CC.
The project has 5 "sequences" which are "rendered" before export to Media Encoder CC.
The "transcode" (max quality) runs very well but is very slow (Media Encoder does not use GPU even the "Playback Mercury Engine" is activated), this is worst without Playback Mercury Engine.
The transcoded files are imported within Encore CS6 (no dynamic link between Encore CS6 ane PP CC and no Encore CC version, Adobe decided this but with very bad reasons).
The Encore project has 5 "montages" and one "diffusion list", the menu has "animated" buttons and need to be rendered before creating the final disk (blu-ray).
But when I try the menus before creating the blu-ray disk I obtain :
    - media pending message : the audio track is there but the video track appears lated and is not smooth,
    - the animated button of menus are very curious : some are correct but others flash in red or green.
    - the software Encore freeze with a white screen, then the job may be resume,
    - the "complete title" begins normally then the video disappears but not the audio, after 10 seconds the video appears but seems to be frozen.
I checked the links of chapters and buttons, all works normally. The project checking give no error.
I never encountered this with Premiere Pro CS6 and Encore CS6 (dynamic link works).
How can I fix this strange situation without discarding PP CC and migrate to FCPX ?

    Hello,
Many thanks for your very long reply and your interest in my problems.
I shall try to answer you :
    - 1) OS :  Windows 7 64 bits Pro SP1, french,
                     Version : 6.1.7601.18247 (Win7RTM)
                     Framework.NET : 4.0.30319.18408 built by : FX451RTMGREL)
                     DirectX : 11.0,
                     OpenGL : 6.1.7600.16385 (Win7_rtm.090713-1255).
    - 2) Yes the media pending goes away but after a couple of minutes (one
year ago I was using PP CS6 and Encore CS6, I never had this problem
    even with very long files),
    - 3) Yes my GPU driver is updated (Nvidia GeForce 332.21 dated 12/19/2014).
I never had thiese problems with PP CS6 + Encore CS6 and my projects
built with these PP ans Encore version were with the same structure and
length (in PP CS6 : sequences up to 45 minutes, in Encore CS6 chapters
    up to the same time).
The difference between are in my hardware :
    - the RAM was upgraded from 12 GB to 24 GB,
    - the CPU was overclocked from 3,2 GHz (default) to 3,88 GHz).
    - 4) I shall try up to the disk burn to check if the problem is just due
    to display of "animated buttons".
I hope my answer will be usefull for you.
    Regards,
    Jacques Gourier.

  • Installing Encore CS6 with Premiere CC 2014 - Not in Previous Versions

I have a new computer and am ready to install Premiere/Encore/AME. From what I understand, in order to install Encore, it's recommended to use the Creative Cloud desktop app, and click the "Previous Versions" button to see the CS6 version of Premiere. From that point, you can choose to install just Encore. To be clear, I have not installed Premiere CC 2014 or AME yet. So when I click the "previous versions" button, the only two programs that appear are Edge Animate CC and Gaming SDK. No Premiere option. If I'm looking under "all apps", I can see Premiere Pro CC 2014, but not an option for CS6. Is there another place I can download Encore CS6?

Same problem. When I select "Previous Version", the only apps with previous versions available are Bridge, Edge Animate and Gaming SDK. No CS6 versions show up at all.
I tried the process described above to log out, quit cc, rename the opm.db file, then log back in. But I am unable to log back into CC. (Or rather I am immediately logged back out again.)
Maybe this is because I am using an enterprise version of CC??? Mac OS X 10.10.2

  • Encore CS6 Flash Export problem, Grey screens

    Hi everyone,
I am having a problem with my encore CS6 flash exports, they are not behaving as expected online (seems to be like a loading issue).
I've tried exporting FLV and F4V and the problem is the same. The same project exported from CS5.5 does not produce this undesirable
problem. It may be important to say that the project was started in CS5.5.
I have a button that links to another menu, and I am using videos as 'transitions'. The videos are dynamic after effects compositions.
When it's online, and you press the button it fills the canvas with a  'grey screen' before starting the video transition. This totally breaks
the experience and feels like an authoring error. It would be important to note, that this screens only appear the first time you see the flash.
Somehow the next time you press it doesnt show it.
I would happily go back to CS5.5 but I started using auto-activate buttons that are only available on CS6 flash exports.
Any ideas what has changed between this versions flash exports?
    Any help would be appreciated..
    Thanks in advance,
    Cris

Output flash with flv (and again with f4v - same results), No template, keep with flash swf rather than streaming.
Open index.html locally, must manually enable active content. Menu opens, movie plays. No grey screen.
Copy entire folder to USB, same result; USB plays on a different PC also.
Upload to web site; same result.
Am I doing soething differently from either of you? Are you using templates?
Factors related to flash security (for local and probably USB playback) can be problems. Various server settings can be problems for on line.

  • How to Import Chapter Names Created in Premiere Pro CS6 to Encore CS6?

I edited a sequence in Prmiere Pro CS6 and then I created and named all my Encore Chapter Markers while still in Ppro. I then opened Encore CS6 and used the Adobe Dynamic Link to import my Premiere Pro CS6 sequence into Encore CS6 and created a new timeline from that sequence. I imported a Menu (which I created in Photoshop) and linked the first chapter to button 1 in my menu and then used Create Chapter Index to bhild all the menus. How do I get the Chapter names to automatically appear in these menus without having to retype each one?

Select a button and look at properties. Check the option "Set Name From Link." You can select multiple buttons and do them at one go.

  • Encore CS6 First Play problem

Long-time Adobe user with CS6 Master Collection. Not come across this one before, though.
Simple Encore project using 3 PPro sequences via Dynamic Link.
Set up so a 20 sec video plays automatically then drops into a static menu offering choice of two timelines.
All tests OK, previews in Encore OK, and builds OK.
HOWEVER, the resulting DVD skips the intro video and starts with the menu, despite the intro video being set as First Play and testing OK inside Encore.
I've built the project from scratch twice now with the same result.
Any hints as to cause and cure?

OK. I eventually tracked it down.
Before adding the intro element, I started with the menu. When I added the intro movie, all looked good on the flowchart and it played OK in Encore, but, as I explained initially, when burned to DVD playback started with the old menu, not the new first play.
I tried deleting Encores preferences (start with SHIFT+CONTROL) to no effect.
I tried adding STOP at the end of menus, to no effect.
I also tried a variety of other first play items, but the DVD always started with the non-first-play menu.
Eventually I looked at the project properties and found that the title button and main timeline were still pointing at the original first-play menu item, not the one currently selected. Changing the main timeline had no effect, but changing the Title Button to the new first-play timeline finally solved my problem.
It seems possible that there is an issue with updating all relevant items in Encore CS6 (Windows, fully updated) when changing first play. Or am I missing something that makes it my fault here?

  • Encore CS6 Skipping the Menu?

    Hello,
I'm using Encore CS6 (Newest Version) I have finished creating my Blue ray Menus and Timelines. Everything seems to be ok. I have even done multiple "check projects" and nothing pops up. After building my project I attempt to play it in my blue ray player. I have two options in the menu. When it plays, it displays the menu for a quick second, then goes on to the first button without me ever selecting anything. Thoughts?

Please do not post the same message twice Menu showing for a split second? - especially after waiting for only 2 minutes... this is an open forum, not a direct line to Adobe support, so you need to give people time to read and reply
