Encore CS6 chapter point location error

In Encore CS6, if I put a time into the source or timeline box (or in the preview window time box), for example 00:01:17:13 and press ENTER, the CTI will jump to a random place on the timeline and not the time I put in. Is this a bug?

Too bad they didn't fix this in the Encore 6.01 update even though it was reported. It's a pretty serious bug. (I tested it).
I found a stranger aspect in this bug when testing it again after the update:
I have say, a timeline that's an hour and 13 minutes long. I have 9 chapters that I need to apply. The chapters are in a text file. (Too bad that Encore doesn't support importing text chapter files) Here's what happens:
I start by copy\paste the first time say, 00:02:13:00, from text file into a timecode field and press ENTER. (There are 2 of them you can use - on timeline and on viewer window). CTI jumps fine.
I continue with other times. At first, all seemed OK and I thought this bug was fixed! I got all chapters correctly! So I deleted some of them and tried again, but that's when the strange thing happened:
Encore would disregaurd the current timecode I'm inserting and instead, jump to ONE OF THE TIMECODE POINTS OF CHAPTERS I HAD PREVIOUSLY DELETED! (Like it had it in memory or something) I tried also to continuously pasting the SAME timecode following with ENTER and each time Encore would SYSTEMATICALLY jump the CTI to a different timecode that had a chapter there before I deleted it!
So if I copied a timecode and started pasting that one again and again, following an ENTER each time, every time the CTI would jump to one of the previously deleted points.
I hope they fix this soon as I can't use Encore becuase of this.

  • Encore CS6 Timeline Button Endpoint Error

Adobe has succeeded in making the burning of a project DVD as impossible as possible.
    WIn 7 Pro 64 Bit
I downloaded the previous version of Premiere Pro (PP) 6 and installed it to get Encore. Then I had to uninstall Premiere Pro 6 because it was crashing my rip in PP CC. I download and install the functional content for Encore 6 (EN6).
I open my project in PP CC. I built my project fully in one timeline in PP CC. It has hundreds of images, video clips, voice overs and music. I added 8 Chapter Markers to my one timeline and named them appropriately. I exported a DVD Mpeg2 video and audio to my DVD Folder. I took a screen capture and exported it to PS CS6 and made it a PSD.
I brought everything into EN6 and began building my menus. I have one video file and audio file in the EN 6 timeline with 11 chapter markers for the entire 27 minute film. I only want to put 8 on the menu. I create Poster Frames and assign them to the chapters in the timeline. I brought in my psd and set it as the background of the menu. I chose the Film Video Button from the buttons panel and dragged it on the screen. I duped the button until I had 8 for each of my 8 scenes that are within one timeline. I name each button appropriately and associate each button with the right scene and go to the flowchart.
In the flowchart panel all my scenes show up below the main menu Thumbnail and they are all named correctly and start the correct scene when clicked. However the individual scene thumbs can only be associated with one end point and they all have the same name. Whatever name I type into the Timeline name field becomes the name for every scene thumb. In this case they are all named "1". I only get to associate one thumbnail out of the entire set of 8 thumbs to an Endpoint and every other Thumb receives the same Endpoint I suppose its ok because I want them all to go back to the menu at end.
So Adobe Tech support says this is a workflow issue, but can't identify where the problem in my workflow is. There is no resource they can find for me online and I cannot find anything relevant to the issue. So he advised me go to where the real experts are - The Forum - Pat yourselves on the back as you are all unsung heroes out there working these forums. He also had me send him my EN6 file and will get back to me in 4-7 days.
Does anyone have any idea what I have done wrong in my PPCC or EN6 workflow to create this problem?
Does anyone have any idea what kind of dope the premiere pro engineering team was smoking when they developed this fantastic way to create a DVD?

Thanks Stan - SO here is where an Adobe Tech recommended this tutorial

    Hi ,
Please find Encore Tutorial link mentioned below :
    1.        Chapter 1 (Getting Sequences into Encore)
    2.       Chapter 2 (Creating Menus)
    3.       Chapter 3 (Buttons & Wiring up our Project)
    4.       Chapter 4 (Checking & Building our Project)
    5.       Chapter 5 (Creating a Web DVD)
    6.       Chapter 6 (Creating Motion Menus )
    7.       Chapter 7 (Creating Slide-shows Part 1)
    8.       Chapter 8 (Creating Slide-shows Part 2)
    9.       Chapter 9 (Creating Slide-shows Part 3)
But I have now solved the problem - The solution is don't use Adobe and you will be fine. I imported my H.264 into Movie Magix Edit Pro 17 and finished burning the project in 45 minutes. Trying to burn a DVD with PPCC and EN6 is as much fun as hitting yourself in the head with a ball peen hammer.

  • Encore CS6 Blu-Ray "fatal error" during build

I have an external ble-ray drive that I just bought from OWC for my MacBook Pro. I have created a project for a wedding that has 3 sequences. Everything looks good, and the building/burning process gets about 90% done and I get this:
Blu-ray Error: "fatal error", Code: "6", Note: "Video buffer underflows. Total bitrate is too high near time = 0.0000000 seconds - Failed to multiplex with maximum IG PTS: 54900000 (in 90kHz).
I am new with Adobe, especially Encore. This is my third try with the same message. I tried building to Blu-Ray disc as well as Blu-Ray image. I have several couples waiting on a Blu-Ray disc for their wedding video, and I can't produce one! So frustrated!
    Any help is MUCH appreciated!

This is actually a very interesting error message. There are 4 blu-ray authoring programs that can display a error message that contains "video buffer underflows" when authoring a Blu-Ray with H.264.
These 4 blu-ray authoring programs are: Sony DVD Architect Studio, Sony DVD Architect Pro, Adobe Encore and Sonic Senarist BD.
Another interesting thing is also that the complete error message that is displayed by both Sony DVD Architect Studio and Sony DVD Architect Pro is exactly identical, word for word, with the error message that is displayed by Sonic Senarist BD.

  • Error message encore cs5 end action can't execute on the final chapter point

Dvd plays great. Exported it as a mpeg 2-dvd,  video only. Audio separate as a .wav. imported video as a timeline, audio as an asset. Video is not transcoded.
But I have a sub menu, with 6 chapter markers. I check the project and I get this: "error message encore cs5 end action can't execute on the final chapter point"
Do I need to make a chapter playlist? Because that gave me a "orphaned playlist" error message.
I selected the last chapter masker and had the end action go to the sub menu.
    Thanks!

Saw a previous thread where bill hunt said it ignore it and try to burn a copy.

  • ENCORE CS6 gives error message during the burning of Blu-ray Disc

I did it again - upgraded my Production Premium CS5 to CS6.
I will not forget CS4 that never came to work. It was not a workable version, but at best an Alfa or maybe Beta version.
I was therefore naturally afraid to upgrade my reasonably well functioning CS5 version, but did it anyway.
My fears kept unfortunately connectors. Audition CS6 scratchy and crunches a lot when I change Audio Device from MME to ASIO. It should be noted, that none of my other programs have this problem neither my Soundbooth nor Audition 5.5 which I fortunately still have installed. So it is only Audition CS6 that crunches with ASIO4ALL.
Encore CS6 is also a problem child. When I try to burn a Blu-ray Disc I get, in the final phase, following error message: Blu-ray Error: "device error", Code: "CreateStcSequence: Fail to write M2S file"
Fortunately, I can open the project file in my Encore CS5, which do not have the same problem. Encore CS6 cannot be used as a standalone application - I still need to have a previous version installed to complete my projects. It is not fair.
Unfortunately I can see that many others have the same problem. Even worse, however, that Adobe still has not come with an update or fair solution of the problem - after so long.
It annoys me infinitely, I every time have to spend so much time on the Internet in an attempt to find solutions to remedy Adobe problems. These are programs I have paid dearly for - exactly twice as much as others living in the U.S. pay - just because I live in Europe.
If there is a user who has some useful suggestions I would appreciate it very much.
I must complain about my bad English.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Jim,
ISO files also works for me, but that's not what I paid for.
So far I use just the previous version CS5, but hope at some point to get CS6 to work.

  • Premiere CC Chapter markers not frame accurate in Encore CS6

So I just made a video with 30 chapter markers at distinct cuts in the timeline using Premiere CC and exported that to an MPEG-2 video as I would in CS6. After importing the MPEG-2 file into Encore CS6 and making a New Timeline the Chapter Markers do show up but they are now all 3-15 frames early per chapter which also means none of the chapter thumbnails are going to be accurate. It's easy to check this with both programs just compare the timecode number at each chapter point in the timeline of Premiere CC then Encore CS6.
Also noticed that the Add Chapter Marker tool that was in the Premiere CS6 timeline is missing in CC, just the Add Marker tool is there now. Couldn't find a way to add the Add Chapter Marker tool to the timeline group of tools.

The .xmpses file contains the chapter information, at least for CS6 and earlier.  You can test this by removing that file before importing into Encore.  You won't get any chapters.
Not sure where Adobe is putting chapter data for CC, but it must be somewhere because the chapters are there.
So I ran two tests, one from CS6 and one from CC7.  In both cases I added three chapter marks, two where I knew there would not be an I-frame in the exported .m2v, and one where there would be.  Both exports came into Encore with the chapter makers right where I put them, which surprises me because there were no I-frames at two of those points and Encore did not 'legalize' them as I'm accustomed to with my production machine.  (Ran this test on my personal machine.)  I could move the markers off those points, but could not put them back because, like I said, the DVD spec only allows them on I-frames.
I did not burn to test whether or not Encore would move the chapters that weren't on I-frames.  I'd be confused if it didn't, though.

  • Problem setting chapter points at exact locations in timeline

When I go to a place in my timeline where I want to add a chapter point sometimes the point is placed behind or before my desired selection. I expand the timeline to make sure that I'm at the correct location, but nonetheless the chapter point is not placed where I want it. When I try to drag the chapter point to my desired place, it doesn't stay...either going back to where it was previously or jumping to another point. Any suggestions to get the chapter points exactly where I want them?

Yes - import an AVI or MOV file instead of MPEG-2.
MPEG-2 files are encoded with GOP headers, and any chapter you add will be placed on the GOP header (that's how DVD-Video chapters work), but if you use AVI or MOV instead, you can place a chapter wherever you want it and when Encore transcodes the video to MPEG-2, it will create a GOP header at the chapter point frame.

  • Exporting Final Cut Chapter Points to Encore

    Blu-ray question.
I'm creating a bluray in Encore cause Apple hasn't gotten their act together yet.
What is the best way to get your chapter points from Final Cut to Encore? Or do you export as a self contained movie, import the file into Encore then create your chapter points?
    What is your workflow?
    Thanks.

Do you mean "Markers List As Text" option?
I used that, but when I imported that doc into Encore it said: "the software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may help to correct the problem."
    Am I doing this right?
    Thanks

  • Photoshop File Error-1 in Encore CS6 Menus / General Error

    Greetings,
I recently had to install the whole CS again. I have had the program work previously before but with these issues now, I am lead to believe it is some installation issue.
    I will go to
File-> New ->Menu. Then create a new timeline, import a video as asset. I will then go to the Flowchart area, Click on what would be the first button on the menu.  From there I go to the right hand side in the Properties area for the buttons. I attempt to use the pickwhip to LINK the chapter point I want and to the button.
This seems to be done successfully. Next I will go in the properties area to edit the text in the Name field. After tabbing out of that field. I get the "Photoshop File Error-1" Pop up error message.
I could then go back to File-> New-> Menu and then I would get a "General Error" message that I would not be able to close out of. The only way to close the program is to do so with Task Manager.
    Suggestions?

    Sorry I am occupied elsewhere.
Try some of these. I don't know whether any of these address the point at which you are getting the error. Can you "Edit in Photoshop," is you right click on a menu?

  • Still no Chapter Points in Encore

I've made two projects with PPro2 with markers to be used as chapter points for Encore 2. (Both projects have text in the chapter marker box.) The first project's timeline imported into Encore just fine, including the ten chapter markers. For some reason, when importing the second project's timeline into Encore, the chapter markers don't follow. The only difference in my workflow was that the first show was converted to Desktop editing mode by mistake. The project was originally made with PPro 1.5. I opened it in PPro2 before installing the new Matrox Xtools software for PPro2 which lead to Ppro2 changing the editing mode to Desktop.
I've got a good command of both programs and have read the various discussion hear. Have tried several different clips and tests to try and finds some relationship, but have hit a wall.
    Suggestions greatly appreciated.

In PPro2, I'm exporting a timeline to avi, then importing that avi as a timeline into Encore2. Installing Matrox Xtools and changing PPRo2 editing mode from "Desktop" to "Matrox rt.xntsc" is the only system change I've recently made. As mentioned before, I had imported chapter points into Encore2 successfully before installing the Xtools and changing the editing mode.

  • OSStatus Error = -35 while trying to 'Edit menu in Photoshop' using Encore CS6

While trying to edit my Encore CS6 menu in Photoshop I keep getting 'OSStatus Error = -35'. I contacted Adobe Support via chat and it was suggested that I add Photoshop CS6 to my computer since I use Photoshop CC.  I added CS6 to my computer and I am still getting the same message. I don't see an option to tell Encore to use Photoshop CS6 instead of CC.
I am using Mac Pro (Late 2013) running Yosemite 10.10.2. I have a full Adobe Cloud membership. Not sure what other information might be pertinent here. I would greatly appreciate any help/support I can get in regards to this issue.
I've tried to use iDVD to create my menus, purely out of frustration and found that there are issues with it as well. I see that these authoring programs are not being supported or updated any longer by Adobe or Apple. I have purchased Wondershare Video Creator Ultimate to burn my dvd's but the menu options are limited at best.  My goal is to create a simple custom DVD menu that looks professional using my own graphics.

This is a Mac operating system error, and not one that we see often. It is probably a reflection of permissions issues, not what version of PS you do or do not have.
Yosemite is not supported for Encore, but neither was Mavericks. Many of the issues in Mavericks appeared to be permissions. Most Adobe apps need read/write access, and those were not the defaults for the OS.
Some Mavericks users reported the following fixes their problems - I eventually assumed that somewhere in the process, it was fixing permissions. But perhaps it does more:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/6109315#6109315
And comments for these operating systems for Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, and After Effects may be helpful. (Encore does not have a support team that is active, so nothing official for it.) But there are specific bug fixes for these OSs in CC versions, so....

  • How to Import Chapter Names Created in Premiere Pro CS6 to Encore CS6?

I edited a sequence in Prmiere Pro CS6 and then I created and named all my Encore Chapter Markers while still in Ppro. I then opened Encore CS6 and used the Adobe Dynamic Link to import my Premiere Pro CS6 sequence into Encore CS6 and created a new timeline from that sequence. I imported a Menu (which I created in Photoshop) and linked the first chapter to button 1 in my menu and then used Create Chapter Index to bhild all the menus. How do I get the Chapter names to automatically appear in these menus without having to retype each one?

Select a button and look at properties. Check the option "Set Name From Link." You can select multiple buttons and do them at one go.

  • Encore CS6 General and src\AMEPresetProber.cpp-267] Error

I was working the whole day on Encore CS6 without any problems, and now it just gives errors.
If I open a project it gives an error "General Error" then it is followed by "An input contract violation has occurred".
When I try to create a new project a error also pops up "..\src\AMEPresetProber.cpp-267]"
Is there a fix for this ?

    I would try resetting preferences.
Hold down Ctrl-Shift while starting the program. Deletes AppPreferences.xml; program does not start.
Now start Encore; preferences file appeared to be created on exit.
See "Recreate the Adobe Encore Preferences File" in this link for windows:

Please let us know if this works.
For Mac, see "Re-create Preferences File" here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html
If you search for the amepresetprober errors and Encore, you'll see that the few solutions reported were generally reinstalls.
    Does AME open okay?
What version of AME / Premiere are you running?

  • Adobe Encore CS4: End action will not execute because of end action on the final chapter point

    Error screen:
Error I’m getting for section titled Notes (PP 45 second video): “End action will not execute because of end action on the final chapter point.”
The icon that shows error is in top line second from end.  I’m trying to 'end action' that portion of the video by going back to 'menu default'; also tried end action w/ ‘Stop’ and neither work.
I saw a post about checking timeline.  Not sure what I’m looking for there.  I have nothing in Orphanage area.  I also tried building despite Check Project error and it will not build project.  Any suggestions on how to fix: “End action will not execute because of end action on the final chapter point.”?

Select chapter one on that timelne. Look in the properties panel. Does it have an end action? You do not want an end action on the chapter; just on the timeline itself.
That will not generally prevent a build, however. So you may have other issues.
