Encore CS6 Dynamic Link from Pr CS6 Problem/Issue

I switched from Production Premium CS5 to CS6.  I first deactivated and uninstalled my CS5 then installed CS6 on my Windows 7 machine.
The problem:
When I edit together a video in Premiere CS6 and have finished, I use Dynamic Link from within Encore CS6 to bring in that timeline.  After that, I use AME to transcode that Dynamic Link asset to the DVD MPEG standard, Encore CS6 keeps poping up a  notification window that says:  "The transcoded DynamicLink asset _______ has changed on the server.  Would you like to reimport it?  Yes/No" It prompts me each time I enter Encore and any time I move from another open program back to Encore.
And I have to click No for each timeline that I have used Dynamic Link for (which is usually 5 or so).
Any ideas or help?  This is incredibly annoying.
Thank you.
Jared

As an update.  I am using the newest version of PluralEyes (v 2.0.5  7358) to sync the audio of the multiple camera event films I have shot.  I have since created a new project in Premiere and only manually lined up clips and then Dynamically Linked that to a new Encore project and so far Encore has not promtpted me with the error/message:  "The transcoded DynamicLink asset _______ has changed on the server.  Would you like to reimport it?  Yes/No"
Any ideas?  This is very frustrating.  Thank you!

  • Encore CS6 Dynamic Link

I think most of the people here will agree with me. I have noticed that since upgrading to CC I have had lots of timewasting work arounds to create a Blu Ray and DVD using Encore. In the past I used to create awesome quality Blu Rays and DVD from the same Encore Project dynamically linked to PrPro. But with CC the workaround is time consuming and I don't think the Blu Ray and DVD will be going away as predicted by Adobe. As a result of this I just can't wait to terminate my CC subscription at the end of my contract this year so I can revert to CS6.

For the record, I don't see any problem with dynamic link as long as it works. The "automatic" setting in Encore has worked fine for many people. There may have been slightly better quality options, but for many users, the quality was good. The problem has been that there have been increasing numbers of situations where it does not work correctly, including HD to SD that made it a bad workflow for almost all users.
The belief that it saves transcoding time seems so reasonable, it is hard to realize that it does not. The savings that may occur are in workflow that avoids bitrate calculation for longer projects.
Surkweza appears to be one of those who found workflows for SD and BD that worked. We don't hear from many.
And yes, its moot now, since there is no dynamic link CC to CS6. So the best CC users can do is to learn to create DVD/BD ready assets at the best quality their program length will allow.
But the bugs make the frustration of users like srukweza harder to resolve.

  • Encore CS6 Dynamic Link to Photoshop CC

This seems such an obvious question, but I have searched without request:
Until two days ago I had Premiere Pro CS5, CS6 and CC installed, but I was having problems with the CC Application Manager not recognising apps as installed when they were.  So I was advised to remove the old versions (I also had to remove Photoshop CS6 and InDesign CS5.5), and reinstall the application manager - which I did, and the AAM now has all its ticks in the right places. Except of course, I now don't have Encore!  So I reinstalled PremPro CS6 (a three hour job with my rural NZ connection).
My problem now is that if I try a Dynamic Link from Encore CS6 to Edit in Photoshop, I get this error message:
I'm guessing this is because Encore CS6 does not know about Photoshop CC, and that I could fix it by reinstalling Photoshop CS6?  Another three hour download   So can I somehow make Encore CS6 use Photoshop CC, or am I misinterpretting the error message?
    Many thanks

Ann, yes PSD files open in Photoshop CC.  Stan, the order of install/unistall was exactly as you said.  But when I unstalled all my pre CC apps, and reinstalled the Application Manager, it did not recognize _any_ of the CC apps as being installed, so I let it overwrite them.  The whole point of starting this process was to get the AAM in sync with the installed CC apps so I wouldn't miss updates.
I got round my problem last night by using the Windows 7 search facility to locate the menu file, and open it in CC, but that feels so clunky compared to a simple right click.  I relax by browsing the Photoshop forum, so I will probably reinstall Photoshop CS6, if only to test answers, but it would be nice to get Encore CS6 and Photoshop CC working together.
BTW  The Application Manager does not show Premiere Pro CS6 as being installed, whereas it did after I first installed the CC apps.

  • Has CS6 fixed the PPro with AE dynamic links slow to render problems?

I've got PPro with AE dynamic links slow to render problems similar to those discussed in this thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/904652?start=0&tstart=0
As I understand it (and I could well be wrong), if I render a PPro project that has AE projects dynamically linked in (anything from simple lower thirds to color grading), during rendering the AE bits run as a service, which limits the AE bits to a single CPU and effectively stops simultaneous rendering of multiple frames. This is why I can get very high render times (essentially no parallel processing), and why messing with the number of CPUs allowed for simultaneous frame rendering, or the amount of RAM said CPUs can access, has little to no effect on total render time.
Supposedly as some point AE was going to be changed such that it used Media Encoder to do it's rendering (same as PPro does), thus speeding up rendering for any PPro project that has AE parts dynamically linked in.
Has this been done in CS6? If not, any idea when that's scheduled to happen?

(I do wish Adobe staff would keep this distinction mind when creating their videos.  When I saw one about the new background rendering in PP, I was interested, only to learn that he was actually talking about background exporting, a feature PP has had since AME was introduced in CS4.)
The distinction is not so distinct, and this is an industry issue, not really Adobe. After Effects has a render queue, which is used for exporting, but you can also export. Lightwave has this, even Avid. The terms do have their own distinct meanings, but of course context is usually required. So usually "rendering previews" or "rendering final output" serve as context-sensitive uses of the term.
Terminology abuse is widespread, even people with video cameras now call themselves "filmmakers" and people who produce films never shown nor intended for a cinema call themselves "cinematographers." ENG video producers are called "photogs" and news photographers are called "photojournalists."
Transcoding, encoding, rendering, exporting....mish-mashed unfortunately, but thankfully most people can figure out what's meant.
Back to the OP - After Effects can be used with Adobe Media Encoder, it's just not the default. You can import any composition into AME from AE and render your encoded export.
As for background rendering....I remember when Pinnacle Liquid was the first to the table with that feature back in 2004 or 2005. It seemed awesome, except that you needed a ton of spare hard drive space and lots of processing to keep the background rendering going...effecitvely your processor was in use 100% of the time. When you weren't scrubbing or playing back, Liquid was rendering previews. Of course, you could use those previews during export but you rarely would have wanted to do so, since it was better quality to reference the original data when compositing the layers and effects to output to a web file, for instance. Then  you had to keep cleaning up the preview cache.
I rarely render previews at all, and when I do it's just a small segment at a time, just to get a full look at the final composite. Mercury Playback is usually more than capable of playing back most of my edits the rest of the time.

  • Encore keeps freezing when I use dynamic link from premiere.  Any thoughts?

I just got done editing my sequence in Premiere Pro CS6.  I've added my chapter markers and sent to Encore via Dynamic Link.  Once I choose my project name and location it begins the import.  At 50% it freezes.  I've tried it on multiple machines and hard drives.  I've done this a million times before and have now just run into issues.  Any thoughts?
I'm working on a 2010 Mac Pro and a 2013 Macbook Pro (non retina)

You'll have a much better chance asking your question in the Encore forum. There are not many Encore users who  venture here. This forum is for general Creative Suite questions.

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere freezes at 50%

I have never used the dynamic link from Premiere CS4 to Encore CS4 so I don't know if this feature has ever worked. I tried to send just a 25 minute unedited timeline to Encore to see if it worked.  Encore goes through it's features but freeze at 50% at transporting timeline.  Any ideas?

I may have answered my own question. I finually did get it to work, maybe by chance.  I msconfig and cleaned out my start up menue and that seems to have cured it.

  • Dynamic Link from Pr to En

I have Master Collection CS5 on Windows 7 x64.  I made a Premier Pro project and have been trying to send the sequence to Encore via Dynamic Link.  At first it looks like it will work--after clicking on the menu item "Send to Encore", Encore starts up and I can enter a new project name in, as expected.  I keep all the settings as default, other than the name of the project and where to put it.  As soon as I click OK, Encore creates the project file, but then that's where it stops.  My mouse becomes a waiting cursor as long as I am mousing over the Encore window and if I try and click in the window, it greys out and the title bar says (Not Responding).  I've let it sit like this for about 30 min to see if it would eventually do what it needs to do, but to no avail.
Very similarly, if I start in Encore and open a project and go to Adobe Dynamic Link -> Import Premeir Pro Sequence, the program goes unresponsive in the same way (this time with no further input).
I have updated QuickTime, turned off all Anti-virus software and disabled my firewall.  In Task Manager, I can see that "Adobe QT32 Server.exe *32" is running, as is "dynamiclinkmanager.exe*32" and "CS5ServiceManager.exe *32" (and of course Adobe Premier Pro.exe).  I've run WireShark to try and determine what ports are being used, but pretty much all the traffic I see (when I stop all my other networking services) is going to 192.150.16.80, which is an Adobe Server, according to my reverse DNS lookup... I don't know if that's an update check or a license check or what...
Are there any Windows Services that I need to make sure are not disabled?  That's about the last idea I have right now...
    Thanks in advance

Perhaps I misunderstand the point of Dynamic Link, but isn't it supposed to be that none of the rendering gets done until it is needed (in this case, in Encore)?
The transcoding doesn't get done until you tell it, but some situations require some processnig. (I don't think that is your issue.)
I doubt it has anything to do with the premier sequence itself because I get the same behavior when initiating Dynamic Link FROM Encore--in this case I never get a chance to select what Premier sequence I want to import because the program goes unresponsive as soon as I hit the "Import Premier Pro Sequence" menu choice.
Yes, that points to Encore. I assume that none of Premiere (the headless instance that runs for DL for example) is starteds at that point.
Also, I did transcode into MPEG2-DVD from Premier and then imported that into Encore, and that works,
So Encore is not totally messed in your install...
but I'd like to get Dynamic Link working, all the same...
    Absolutely!
This does not sound like an error we've seen here before.
Try opening Encore using the "run as administrator" tactic, and try the DL from Encore.
MPEG files can create a variety of issues, as often from the audio as the video. But the hang from Encore's end for DL argues against that. But I don't see any further option other than repair/reinstall.

  • Dynamic link from Premiere to Speed grade is incredible slow.

Dynamic link from Premiere to Speed grade is incredible slow. About 10 minutes or so. I usually measure the time by hands of Solitaire, min 3 wins.  I've trashed prefs, OS and apps all updated, run system maintenance. I'm at a loss. This workflow isn't working for me. Please give me some troubleshooting ideas.

Or is the workflow save/Quit my project in Premiere. then open in Speedgrade. Then save/Quit my project in Speedgrade and re-open in Premiere?
yeah thats basically it, you could leave premiere open but save and close the project before opening it up in speedgrade. if you are going to be in speedgrade a while, its best to just close premiere so it doesn't tie up any system resources sitting in the background. the dynamic link buttons/commands in premiere and speedgrade just save, close, and open in other program. so once you do your work in speedgrade save the project, close, then open it back in premiere and it should all be there.

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere to After Effects causing 'Zoom' controls not to function...

I'm using Premiere Pro CS5 with a Dynamic link to an After Effects CS5 composition and I'm having some real issues with zoom control (once I'm in AE). When I run the composition 1 or 2 times the zoom function (ctrl +/-) will work, but after a few run through's it doesn't function at all. Even trying to manually change the zoom by clicking won't work. This happens EVERY time I use a dynamic link -- anyone else having this issue? (It also won't allow me to render... but I can see my comp move when I scrub through with the mouse).
Also, when I create the same composition w/o the dynamic link everything works perfectly... (I just don't want to have to re-render it out... which is why I would like Dynamic Link to work properly).
    Here's what I'm running;
    Windows 7 Pro - 64bit
    Core i7-960
    24GB DDR3
    x2 300GB 10k RPM HD
    ATI 4790 1GB
    Thanks,
    Drew

    Mylenium, Todd,
Thanks for your suggestions. I've updated all of my 3rd party software drivers, as well as AECS5 and it seemed to work... for an extra 10 minutes. I ended up turning off OpenGL (as directed above) and that has seemed to help as well (although render playback seems to suffer). I will test for another few hours and hopefully it will continue to work.
I was also able to replicate the problem on my laptop with the same proceedures... perhaps it's the ATI card that's causing the issue... but it doesn't seem to be a one-time event. (Although it's causing my laptop to crash now mid-render).
    Cheers,
    D

  • Dynamic link from Premier to AE CS6 not working well

Just downloaded CS6 2 days ago and today I tried converting a HDV video sequence with two titles on tracks 2 & 3 into an After Effects comp.
So AE launched and all copied over but my two titles came over as black solids! So I deleted them then I right clicked on the 1440x1080 HDV video layer in the HDV comp and choose Track Camera, it spent some time anlayzing the video and then said "Layer size must match Composition"
So seems to be some bugs in the whole dynamic link transfer system between premier pro and AE in CS6 ???

Dynamic Link is designed to bring over footage items, but titles are created dynamically inside Premiere and do not exist as footage first.  As a result, I am not surprised they do not come into AE through the dynamic link.
The best workflow is to start with the superior text manipulation inside After Effects.  You can get much more control and power from within AE.  If you aren't sure how to start working on text there, there are many, many excellent free tutorials at CreativeCow.net or paid instructional videos with Lynda.com or Video2Brain.com.
Otherwise, do not bring the titles into AE - make any adjustments you want to make to your footage, and keep the titles separate.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Dynamic Link not working

    Hi,
Just wondered if anyone has seen issues with the Dynamic link options in Premiere Pro CS6, all the options to work with After Effects are greyed out although this product is installed.
However I only have CS5 for after effects, is this a compatibility issue or am I doing something wrong here?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Kind Regards
    Steve

Dynamic Link only works within one version, so you can't use it between CS6 and CS5 or CS5.5 and with older versions you had to have a complete suite, not individual products.

  • Encore, Premiere, Dynamic Link, MPE & Problem?

My set-up is CS5 with an nVidia GTX-460 (hacked to conform for MPE).  The project used is HDV 1080i60.  I created the Encore project by importing Premiere sequences.   I am burning a DVD.
    First an interesting discovery -
I was surprised to see that Encore used MPE when transcoding.  I have a gadget that shows GPU load.
Now the not so good -
I was having a terrbible time getting the, very simple, single timeline, no menus, just chapter marks, DVD to burn.   Sometimes I got an "Encode Failed".  And a few times the system (Win 7 64-bit) blue screened!  Until this this system has been rock solid.  In my debugging I figured that I'd turn-off MPE and see if that helped.  Hmmmm.  No option for that in Encore.  However, I went into the Premiere project and turned it off there.   Voila!  Encore now does not use the GPU and the DVD burn completed.
Of course, this could be an issue with my un-supported GTX-460.  But maybe not . . . .
    Comments?

  • Encore Adobe Dynamic Link Audio problem

I have a multiple video files that I have put together in Premiere.  The are HD Dolby 5.1 sound.  I have about 10 of these together. So I export them to Encore using the Adobe Dynamic Link. I built the menu system.  When I burn the dvd and try it.  It plays through the first two clips just fine and when it gets to the third. The sound goes out and never returns on the rest of the clips.  But when I test it in Encore and Premiere there is sound and it works great.  Anyone know why when i burn the dvd I loose the sound on the 3rd clip?  Thanks.

  • How to send Video from Premiere to Encore via Dynamic Link

Hi there.  So I have the adobe suite for students, and I have a project in Premiere Pro, that I would like to make into a DVD.  I have exported before with MPEG-2 DVD, but that takes a lot of time and energy, and I don't think the export is as good as it could be (quality-wise).  So I would like to use Dynamic Link between Premiere and Encore, but when I go to File-Adobe Dynamic Link- the Dynamic link option is greyed out and I can't click on it which would let me choose "Send to Encore".  How can I make this option not greyed out and send it to Encore?  Thank you so much for your time!

As the source is HD, then the output should be 16:9 widescreen, but you listed it as 4:3.
In AME, choose "MPEG-2 DVD" and then "NTSC DV Wide Progressive" preset.
Besides bitrate, generally don't touch other sliders unless you are experienced, use defaults.
You CAN use the "Max Render Quality" checkbox at the bottom, as that helps with the downscale quality.
While DVDs can theoretically handle a max data rate of roughly 10Mbps (video and audio together), not a good idea to push that limit - as mentioned previously, some players may choke on playback with burned media. Most users have stick to a maximum of 7 or 8 for the video encoding, and then use Dolby audio (Encore will automatically transcode PCM to Dolby).
For longer videos over an hour, you may need to lower the bitrate to fit the material on the DVD. 560/minutes = bitrate works pretty well, just round down a little for safety margin. Example: 560/120=4.66 so use 4.5 average and good to go!
