Encore CS6 - PGC error
i am using Encore CS6
I have rebuild the timelines as well as the entire project which no results.
I tried removing the last video clip in the timeline, trimmed the last few seconds off at the end. Th error is usually about 1-2 seconds from the end of the last clip on the timeline.
PGC "<timeline name>" has an error at 00;26;51;28. internal software error: %0, line <timeline name> - PGC Info: name = <timeline name>, ref Bpgc, time 00:26:51:28
Thank You
hello Stan
thanks for the reply.
i Have tried every idea I could find online.
rebuilding, reexporting, deleting xmpses, build dvd folder and image, even just for luck tried from another system but still cannot seem to fix the issue.
it is strange that after rebuilding the project that i still get the same problem.
are you working with Adobe because I cannot get access to Adobe Encore support directly. Just get the forums.
thanks for the help

ENCORE CS6 gives error message during the burning of Blu-ray Disc
I did it again - upgraded my Production Premium CS5 to CS6.
I will not forget CS4 that never came to work. It was not a workable version, but at best an Alfa or maybe Beta version.
I was therefore naturally afraid to upgrade my reasonably well functioning CS5 version, but did it anyway.
My fears kept unfortunately connectors. Audition CS6 scratchy and crunches a lot when I change Audio Device from MME to ASIO. It should be noted, that none of my other programs have this problem neither my Soundbooth nor Audition 5.5 which I fortunately still have installed. So it is only Audition CS6 that crunches with ASIO4ALL.
Encore CS6 is also a problem child. When I try to burn a Blu-ray Disc I get, in the final phase, following error message: Blu-ray Error: "device error", Code: "CreateStcSequence: Fail to write M2S file"
Fortunately, I can open the project file in my Encore CS5, which do not have the same problem. Encore CS6 cannot be used as a standalone application - I still need to have a previous version installed to complete my projects. It is not fair.
Unfortunately I can see that many others have the same problem. Even worse, however, that Adobe still has not come with an update or fair solution of the problem - after so long.
It annoys me infinitely, I every time have to spend so much time on the Internet in an attempt to find solutions to remedy Adobe problems. These are programs I have paid dearly for - exactly twice as much as others living in the U.S. pay - just because I live in Europe.
If there is a user who has some useful suggestions I would appreciate it very much.
I must complain about my bad English.
Thank you in advance.Hi Jim,
ISO files also works for me, but that's not what I paid for.
So far I use just the previous version CS5, but hope at some point to get CS6 to work. -
On a new Win8 system with CS6 freshly installed and updated with the latest updates, I consistently get a PGC error at the same location everytime I try to build a DVD.
The Encore project is very simple: 1 timeline (the video) and 1 asset (the audio). No subtitles.
The timeline was encoded in PR and consists of a single nested seuence, HDV material, scaled down to 54% to fit the SD sequence settings, On track 2 there are some SD MPEG2 scenes and on track 3 are some titles.
This was encoded to MPEG2-DVD, PAL Widescreen High Quality, CBR 8 Mbps with MRQ on and audio to Dolby stereo at 192 Kbps.
The video file was imported as timeline and the audio as asset. Of course no transcoding required.
So far, so good. Previewing gives no problems. But on the build of a DVD, I get a PGC error everytime and the build stops.
I located the problem as the start of the first title on track 3 in the PR project. I removed the title and created a new (identical) title and exported again. Still the same problem. I moved the title a few frames, exported again and yes, the PGC error now shows the new timecode of this title.
Haven't tried yet to completely remove the title in the PR project, but this is weird that a simple title can cause this problem.
Any workarounds?Disabling the title track in PR and re-exporting does not help. Here are the export settings:

PGC error when burning in Encore CS3 ... help
I've looked and can not find any one else with exactly this problem. I recently upgraded to Adobe Creative Suite 3 and can not get a DVD to burn. The project checks fine, the files transcode without difficulty but during the burning process, I very quickly get a PGC "file name" error.
I have a Sony Pentium 4, 2 GHz, with 1.21 G of RAM, and plenty (30 G) free on my hard drive. I have a 16X Memorex DVD burner which is probably 6 months old, but up until now has worked great. I've tried several different brands of DVD-R media and same problem.
I'd describe myself as an advanced amateur at video making. I taught myself on Nova's Video Explosion and burned 100's of dvd's on the Sonic's My DVD program over the past 5 years. Actually that system worked well, but I'd outgrown it. I downloaded Encore 2.0 free 30 day trial and loved it. I'd import (uncompressed) avi files that I'd created in other programs (mostly Video Explosion, but also Movie Shaker, and Windows Movie Maker), create menus in PS CS2 and my DVD's burned quickly and without errors at all. When my 30 days expired, I found they no longer offered 2.0 and I decided to spend the big bucks at got Creative Suite 3 really solely for Encore.
I've now spent 3 days trying all kinds of different things, many different files from different sources and I always get the same error message of "PGC "file name" has an error at "time" internal software error %0, line "file name:, time 00:"time", ref= BPGC.
I did read some messages on here about uncompressed avi vs. compressed avi. I did find that I was using uncompressed avi, but when I used Adobe premiere and rendered as MPEG 2 ( I believe), I got the same error. The only success (?) I had was when I rendered a file as a .MOV. It did burn without the dreaded error message, but the quality was extremely poor and jumpy.
Any ideas? I've got a project due in a couple of days and at present I've got files that I can't get to DVD...So, finally I've found the source of the problem and a workaround!
First the source:
when Encore has to transcode a video it must corrupt the file, because it's the transcoded file that causes the problem, I tried this by importing a transcoded file into Encore 1.5 there it came with the same error.
Now the workaround, ok maybe it isn't quite a workaround but it's a way to go:
What I did was: I built my project new in Encore 1.5, because Encore 2.0 has a problem importing the videos by me, but if you would just import the videos in 1.5 and let 1.5 transcode them so that all of them would fit on a DVD you should be able to import the transcoded files in CS3 and it should work, no guarantee.
Other possibility: try opening your project in encore 2.0 and re import your videos there and let 2.0 do all of the transcoding, that might work too!
But for certain: don't let encore CS3 do all the transcoding!
I'm working with PAL files I don't know if it will be the same by NTSC, but it's worth a try!
If anybody feels like reproducing the bug, here is the way to do it:
Make a project in Encore CS3 and import Videos encoded by premiere as MPG2-DVD (I think: .m2v .wav) and set the transcoding options to automatic, encore should have to transcode the files. Then let encore make the DVD, at some point you should get that nice PGC error! -
OSStatus Error = -35 while trying to 'Edit menu in Photoshop' using Encore CS6
While trying to edit my Encore CS6 menu in Photoshop I keep getting 'OSStatus Error = -35'. I contacted Adobe Support via chat and it was suggested that I add Photoshop CS6 to my computer since I use Photoshop CC. I added CS6 to my computer and I am still getting the same message. I don't see an option to tell Encore to use Photoshop CS6 instead of CC.
I am using Mac Pro (Late 2013) running Yosemite 10.10.2. I have a full Adobe Cloud membership. Not sure what other information might be pertinent here. I would greatly appreciate any help/support I can get in regards to this issue.
I've tried to use iDVD to create my menus, purely out of frustration and found that there are issues with it as well. I see that these authoring programs are not being supported or updated any longer by Adobe or Apple. I have purchased Wondershare Video Creator Ultimate to burn my dvd's but the menu options are limited at best. My goal is to create a simple custom DVD menu that looks professional using my own graphics. This is a Mac operating system error, and not one that we see often. It is probably a reflection of permissions issues, not what version of PS you do or do not have.
Yosemite is not supported for Encore, but neither was Mavericks. Many of the issues in Mavericks appeared to be permissions. Most Adobe apps need read/write access, and those were not the defaults for the OS.
Some Mavericks users reported the following fixes their problems - I eventually assumed that somewhere in the process, it was fixing permissions. But perhaps it does more:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/6109315#6109315
And comments for these operating systems for Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, and After Effects may be helpful. (Encore does not have a support team that is active, so nothing official for it.) But there are specific bug fixes for these OSs in CC versions, so....

The Dreaded PGC error in Encore CS4
Hi Group,
Have used Encore for a couple of years now and encountered the PGC errors in previous versions all of which I eventually surmounted. Usually they were audio based and changing the saving settings in WAV files usually solved it.
However now in CS4 it has returned with a vengance, no amount of audio changes have solved it, even tried changing to different formats (wav to aif etc) to no avail. Tried changing the transcoding settings, no help.
What I'm doing is as follows: Using a PC, windows xp pro 64bit, 8gb ram. creating photofiles in Photoshop, into After Effects, making slideshow outputting as AVI, opening as asset in Encore and moving into a timeline, transcode and build to a disc and burn. NO PROBLEM there.
Now when I start adding audio and follow through as above, the assests transode and it starts to build I get:-
"PGC <timeline name> has an error at 48.7200s. The aspect ratio of this file is not supported by DVD. PGCinfo: name=<timeline name>, ref=epgc, time=48.7200s"
I have read some of the similar problems in the forum and have tried many of the suggestion without result.
Surely there must be some answer somewhere.
Please if you know a fix please let me know urgently.
Thanks in advance to all those that take the time to reply.

Encore CS6 General and src\AMEPresetProber.cpp-267] Error
I was working the whole day on Encore CS6 without any problems, and now it just gives errors.
If I open a project it gives an error "General Error" then it is followed by "An input contract violation has occurred".
When I try to create a new project a error also pops up "..\src\AMEPresetProber.cpp-267]"
Is there a fix for this ?I would try resetting preferences.
Hold down Ctrl-Shift while starting the program. Deletes AppPreferences.xml; program does not start.
Now start Encore; preferences file appeared to be created on exit.
See "Recreate the Adobe Encore Preferences File" in this link for windows:

Please let us know if this works.
For Mac, see "Re-create Preferences File" here:

If you search for the amepresetprober errors and Encore, you'll see that the few solutions reported were generally reinstalls.

Encore CS6 chapter point location error
In Encore CS6, if I put a time into the source or timeline box (or in the preview window time box), for example 00:01:17:13 and press ENTER, the CTI will jump to a random place on the timeline and not the time I put in. Is this a bug?
Too bad they didn't fix this in the Encore 6.01 update even though it was reported. It's a pretty serious bug. (I tested it).
I found a stranger aspect in this bug when testing it again after the update:
I have say, a timeline that's an hour and 13 minutes long. I have 9 chapters that I need to apply. The chapters are in a text file. (Too bad that Encore doesn't support importing text chapter files) Here's what happens:
I start by copy\paste the first time say, 00:02:13:00, from text file into a timecode field and press ENTER. (There are 2 of them you can use - on timeline and on viewer window). CTI jumps fine.
I continue with other times. At first, all seemed OK and I thought this bug was fixed! I got all chapters correctly! So I deleted some of them and tried again, but that's when the strange thing happened:
Encore would disregaurd the current timecode I'm inserting and instead, jump to ONE OF THE TIMECODE POINTS OF CHAPTERS I HAD PREVIOUSLY DELETED! (Like it had it in memory or something) I tried also to continuously pasting the SAME timecode following with ENTER and each time Encore would SYSTEMATICALLY jump the CTI to a different timecode that had a chapter there before I deleted it!
So if I copied a timecode and started pasting that one again and again, following an ENTER each time, every time the CTI would jump to one of the previously deleted points.
I hope they fix this soon as I can't use Encore becuase of this. -
PPro6 to Encore "internal software" error
I encoded in PPro6 and then imported an mpeg2 project as a timeline from PPro6 into Encore. When I try to burn a DVD, I get an error message: PGC "" has an error at 00;00;00;00. Internal software error: 50, line "" Info: name = "", ref= Bpgc, time = 00;00;00;00;00.
The project was fully rendered in PPro. I've re-exported 3 times, and it happens every time.
I did a search on the Forum, and found one other person who had this problem, but their problem turned out to be with their audio. My project has no audio at all. Just video.
Thank you for any help/ideas/suggestions you may have! I'm totally flummoxed.Stan Jones wrote:
The .xmpses file is an xml (type) file.
Rename the file .xmpses.old and the .xmp renamed as .xmp.old (I don't recall for sure whether there was ever any benefit to renaming the .xmp file. We want to maximize the chances that it works, so rename both.)
Can I just say Stan I am so so grateful for this post. So easy to do and solved my problem!!! I was beyond fed up with the whole thing. After having such problems with Dynamic Link causing slight flickering in my videos I have tried to go back to Exporting with my own settings for Encore in CS6 but found it caused so many more problems than it ever did in previous versions of the programmes. I tried exporting the sequences in so many different ways, different bit rates, including Encore chaptering before Encore and even nesting. Had so many different errors like 52102, line 332 and this PGC error was the final one and my biggest problem. Cannot believe how simple it was. I normally chapter within Encore anyway so changing a little file name of the other 2 connected files of my sequence really was no bother at all.
I honestly think this is the answer to many of the problems that I have had in Encore as the errors although in different forms, more often than not, seem to be chapter related.
it is now 1.45am and because of you I can now go to bed to get up and film another event in the morning. CHEERS! (don't worry I'm a girl lol) -
Blue screen of death on Toshiba P755-S5375 with ADOBE ENCORE CS6
I recently purchased a new laptop and installed Adobe Master Collection CS6. I purchased the laptop for video capture and editing, as well as for blu-ray authoring.
Unfortunately, although the computer and software works fine for video capture and editing, I am unable to author a blu-ray. For authoring, I am using Adobe’s Encore CS6. After checking and previewing my creation, I attempt to build to disc using Encore. About 2 seconds after clicking the build disc in Encore, I get the “blue screen of death” (BSOD). This happens every time I try to build to blu-ray (only blu-ray has this issue; I am able to build to a DVD). I am using an external blu-ray drive on USB 3.0.
I am using Encore version 6.0.0.492

Blue screen of death when building blu-ray in Encore CS6
Here are the blu-ray drive specs:

PS3 (Playstation 3) issue not loading BDR Bluray | Adobe Encore CS6
I recently created a Bluray using Adobe Encore CS6, and the Bluray is not loading on my PS3, but is working fine on my other player (LG, Toshiba and PC). Does anyone have the same issue and found a solution? I need help on this as most of my client use their PS3 as Bluray player.
Authoring program: Adobe Encore CS6 with the Creative Cloud latest update
PS3 with latest firmware update (PS+ member with auto-update: on)
Video files: 1920x1080 FPS 23.976 Program Stream MPEG-2 for Bluray *.m2v (transcode with FCP Compressor)
Audio files: Dolby Digital Audio *.ac3
Burner software: CyberLink Power2Go V6
Burner hardware: HP BD Writer bd340i
Media: Verbatim BD-R 25GB 6x Speed
Project size: 20/25GB
The project setting in CS6 is: Blu-ray NTSC with MPEG-2 Codec at 1920x1080 at 23.976FPS
The “Check Project” shows no error. I build (output) as an image, then burn the *.ISO file using CyberLink Power2Go.
The BD-R work fine everywhere (LG & Toshiba player) except on my PS3. The BD-R has the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folder, so I don’t know why my PS3 don’t recognize it. And I have three PS3 at home; 1xPS3 80GB version (3yrs old) and 2xPS3 super slim (1yr old). All three are unable to see the BD-R. My PS3 work fine with all other media (games & movie Bluray); and I highly doubt that all three have trouble with the Bluray player.
I did the same process last time (in 2013) and everything is working fine, all the same configuration, except I used Adobe Encore CS4. My PS3 was able to read and recognize the BD-R. But since CS6, my PS3 don’t see the BD-R. I also put back the copy that I did last year with CS4 (just to make sure that is not a PS3 firmware issue) and the Bluray work fine. The media (Verbatim) come from the same tower (leftover from last year).
So everything point toward CS6…is there something that change from CS4 to CS6 for Bluray creation? Jumping from Encore CS4 to CS6, I don’t see anything different, but look like there is, because the Bluray can no longer be played on my PS3. Please help!

Hello,
I have a very large project built with Premiere Pro CC.
The project has 5 "sequences" which are "rendered" before export to Media Encoder CC.
The "transcode" (max quality) runs very well but is very slow (Media Encoder does not use GPU even the "Playback Mercury Engine" is activated), this is worst without Playback Mercury Engine.
The transcoded files are imported within Encore CS6 (no dynamic link between Encore CS6 ane PP CC and no Encore CC version, Adobe decided this but with very bad reasons).
The Encore project has 5 "montages" and one "diffusion list", the menu has "animated" buttons and need to be rendered before creating the final disk (blu-ray).
But when I try the menus before creating the blu-ray disk I obtain :
- media pending message : the audio track is there but the video track appears lated and is not smooth,
- the animated button of menus are very curious : some are correct but others flash in red or green.
- the software Encore freeze with a white screen, then the job may be resume,
- the "complete title" begins normally then the video disappears but not the audio, after 10 seconds the video appears but seems to be frozen.
I checked the links of chapters and buttons, all works normally. The project checking give no error.
I never encountered this with Premiere Pro CS6 and Encore CS6 (dynamic link works).
How can I fix this strange situation without discarding PP CC and migrate to FCPX ?Hello,
Many thanks for your very long reply and your interest in my problems.
I shall try to answer you :
- 1) OS : Windows 7 64 bits Pro SP1, french,
Version : 6.1.7601.18247 (Win7RTM)
Framework.NET : 4.0.30319.18408 built by : FX451RTMGREL)
DirectX : 11.0,
OpenGL : 6.1.7600.16385 (Win7_rtm.090713-1255).
- 2) Yes the media pending goes away but after a couple of minutes (one
year ago I was using PP CS6 and Encore CS6, I never had this problem
even with very long files),
- 3) Yes my GPU driver is updated (Nvidia GeForce 332.21 dated 12/19/2014).
I never had thiese problems with PP CS6 + Encore CS6 and my projects
built with these PP ans Encore version were with the same structure and
length (in PP CS6 : sequences up to 45 minutes, in Encore CS6 chapters
up to the same time).
The difference between are in my hardware :
- the RAM was upgraded from 12 GB to 24 GB,
- the CPU was overclocked from 3,2 GHz (default) to 3,88 GHz).
- 4) I shall try up to the disk burn to check if the problem is just due
to display of "animated buttons".
I hope my answer will be usefull for you.

I encountered technical problem using Adobe creative cloud.
Because I want to burn a DVD I installed Encore Cs6. This program didn’t include the menu library, so I imported that following the instructions I found on the internet.
The program works alright, even with a dynamic link with photoshop. A preview of the resulting menu works fine too.
However, I can’t save it or build it. I get the message: an input contract error occurred. Before that I see a message stating the following: /Volumes/Builds/Mango/Main/Adobe/MediaMac/../../Src/FileCache/FileCache.cpp-1016
Without the link, or without any content all I get the same messages. So I guess it’s not caused by the dynamic link or by the assets which I imported.
By the way, I’m working on an Apple computer.
Hope someone knows how to tackle this problem!
Elsbeth MulderMavericks and Yosemite are not support by Encore, but I believe users are getting them to work.

And comments for these operating systems for Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, and After Effects may be helpful. (Encore does not have a support team that is active, so nothing official for it.) But there are specific bug fixes for these OSs in CC versions, so....

Editing Encore CS6 Menus in Photoshop CC 2014
Using Encore CS6 in Win7, when I try to edit an Encore menu in Photoshop CC 2014 a message comes up saying that Photoshop is not installed .... even when Photoshop is already running!!
I am familiar with RegEdit and have modifed entries in the Win registry many times in the past.
Is there a way I can get Encore to work with Ps CC version? Or, do I have to go back and re-installed my old Photoshop Elements 11?
Thanks in advance.
PaulDoes the error say it is not installed or that it is "undefined"? Same issue; just curious.
You don't say, so start at square one: when you double click on a psd file in windows explorer, what happens?
That has been the number one fix to this error.
For example: "Edit Menu in Photoshop" not working?
There have been other issues in getting Encore CS6 to work with cloud versions.
