Encore CS6. Putting over 1 hour on a DVD

I have previously managed to put a large file onto a DVD in Encore CS6 but can't remember how. I have a project in Prem CS6 and it's about 1 hour 20 minutes long. Try as I may I only get a disc with about 1 hour 12 minutes. Clearly my Encore CS6 is set up incorrectly for this.  Can anyone guide me through the required steps. I will mention that the project has no menus or chapters.
Many thanks. Pete

  • Encore cs6 preview out of sync but DVD fine

    Hello,
Blu-ray project in Encore, exported audio and video from AME using the blu-ray h264 preset.
When I preview in Encore the sync is off but once I create the dvd and play it back, the sync is fine.

We have heard nothing about any changes in Encore for CC. I would be very surprised if anything fundamental, like the preview engine, has changed. We really don't know what is still the old sonic authorcore, what may have changed but is still sonic, and what is Adobe created. I have always assumed the preview is sonic.
Is the audio sync issue Bluray only, H.264 bluray only, or any particular audio formats? I don't recall getting the issue in Encore DVD playback.

  • DVDs burned with Encore CS6 won't play in PC/MAC standard player

Wondering what is going on with an issue on Encore CS6 (W8), as it will burn DVDs that work with PowerDVD but not with OS X's default media player or Windows Media Player
Same computer earlier this year with Encore CS5.5 (W7), DVDs would read in WMP as well
    No problem with blu-rays

What brand of blank, and what burning speed?
Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no DVD player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help
Use Taiyo Yuden single layer or Verbatim Two layer Or Falcon Pro for inkjet printable Two layer

  • 5 hours on one DVD

For what it is worth (Maybe I should have started a new post).
I had a client that just wanted the five hours of mini DV just to have as a record of the their wedding. Not interested in editing. So after captureing in PP2 I then went into Encore 2.o and put them on the timeline and just burned the DVD. No graphics, chapters or anything. When put into a set top dvd player one had "pretend" there were chapters and click on the remote "Chapter" button.
I let Encore fit the five hours on the DVD.
What surprised me was that not only did I get five hours on a single layer DVD-R, but that the quality was very good on my 35inch tv in the family room.
    5 hours and good quality.
Now I my next test is to do a very simple title and five chapters labled only as to "tape one of five" and so on.
    Yours,
    Tom

    5 hours.
    This = 300 Minutes, = 18,000 seconds.
    Available space on a DVD5 - 4,700,000,000*8 = 37,600,000,000 /1,000,000 = 37,600 Megabits of total space available.
    Lose 4% overhead = 36,000 approx.
    Audio.
Assuming Dolby Digital at 0.192 Mbits/second.
    = 3,456 Megabits.
Subtract this from the total gives us a remainder of 32,544 Megabits.
    32554 / 18,000 = 1.805 Megabits of actual Video Bitrate.
It is going to look appalling.
You must override to a CBR encode, and hope like heck the built-in transcoder will even allow such a painfully low bitrate to encode.
Quality is going to be worse than a cross of telephone camera footage encoded to Flash & uploaded to YouTube.
It will make that look like high quality.
    Why bother?
You're throwing out so much quality it will be completely unwatchable.

• Encore CS6 Chapters looping

    Hi
I am relatively new to Encore CS6 and just created a basic DVD with menus and chapters. When I burned the DVD and checked it on a regular DVD player, I found from my main menu the movie played fine. However, when I went to my Scene Selection menu and played a few chapters they are looping. My goal is to allow people to select a chapter (if they want) and the rest of the movie will play from that chapter through the end. But instead it is playing that chapter and then looping it.  I'm guessing it is something simple and it is just being a newbie to the software I can't figure it out.  Thanks for any help in advance.
    Lisa

    Hi Stan,
Thanks for helping. I don't see any overrides set. I see where I can set end actions for timelines but I don't even see how to set an end action for a chapter, so I am assuming I don't have any set. I have two  screen shots to post one is of the workflow as you suggested and one is of my timeline and chapters. As I stated in my original post, I am new to Encore so feel free to tell me if I've created the whole thing wrong.
    Thanks, Lisa

  • No Video, only Audio when building a DVD in Encore CS6

    Hi everyone!
First post here, and I apologize if this has been somewhat covered in other posts, I couldn't seem to find any similar issues in this matter, and I pray someone here can help.
I'm new to DVD authoring, and just started using Adobe Encore CS6 over the summer. I shot a dance recital, and after following some tutorials, made an awesome DVD that was very well received.
However, my last two DVDs have not come out working properly.  I imported .m2v files from HC Encoder (DVD Compliant, max 7500kbps for safety) into Adobe Encore CS6, where the .m2v files say "Don't Transcode." They play just fine in the timelines in Encore.
When I build the DVD to either a folder, image, or disc, only audio plays for the video portions of the DVD. The only way to get the video to play is if I run the DVD through VLC. I tested in Windows Media Center (on Windows 8) as well as my PlayStaton 4, and the black picture with audio persists for each video element of the DVD.
Between making the DVD of the dance recital and the DVD today, I have gone through at least two complete system restores, if this is something that could possibly have made things go awry. If it helps to know, I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Oops, sorry!
I imported an *.m2v file along with a *.wav file, both the exact same durations and lined up correctly in the timeline.  In the project panel, for the *.m2v it says "Don't Transcode" for Status and "Don't Transcode" for Settings; for the *.wav it says, "Untranscoded" for Status and "Automatic" for settings.
That's all that Encore's telling me about the files.
Side note, interestingly enough, I went back and re-exported the DVD of the Dance Recital that I had mentioned earlier, and it plays just fine. (I'm trying to compare the two projects as best I can) It seems as if the *.m2v file that I made in HCEncoder for the recital plays just fine in Windows Media Player, however my most recent ones do not.  But they still play in Encore.  Needless to say, I'm baffled.

  • Encore CS6 DVD Build taking too long

    Hello,
I am trying to build the DVD from Encore CS6, I have the Creative Cloud, and it gets stuck and will not make forward progress-- it's stuck at transcoding. This has been going on for 48 hours now, and everything is clear.
Any tips, hints, or reasons why this is not working? Could I have downloaded a faulty version from Adobe Creative Cloud?
    Thank you,
    Zachary

How long are the movies? What format were they in? What power computer?
    This does seem long.
Try transcoding as a separate step before you build.

  • Why Poor DVD quality Encore CS6 with Sony FS100 MTS files from PPro CS6

I am using PPro CS6 on a MAC Pro Quad zenon with Boot Camp. On PC side I was using PPro CS6 & Encore CS6 with MTS files from  Sony NX 5U with NO Problems.
I just started using a Sony FS100 recording 1080i (60) format MTS files. When I Dynamic Link to Encore, the quality of the image is very soft compare to image from previous
projects with MTS files from Sony NX 5U.When I open a previous NX5U project, it still displays and creates an excellant dvd.Need help in solving problem.

Thanks for the advice. I tryed your method with same results.
I then tried changing project quality settings with somewhat better results
    but not good enough results.
I looked at some of my previous dvds that used mts files from my Sony NX5U
and the quality was much better
that any results I am having using the Sony FS100 mts files. Even still
pictures do not look good now in Encore.
I then tried using Roxio Creator 10 Pro to make a dvd.
The results were excellant! Video files and stills are great.
I noticed that Encore CS6 is using the "Main Concept" codec to transcode.
Has something changed in the basic
settings with my Encore and can I reset my Encore to original defaults???
Any advice would be welcomed...Thanks again.

  • Is it possible to burn a SD DVD correctly from an Encore CS6 Blu-ray project and content?

    Hi all,
I shot and edited AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) square pixel video from a Sony NXCAM HXR-NX5U camcorder in Premiere CS6.  I then exported the 1920x1080 edited mpeg2 blu-ray m2v file for import into Encore Cs6.  Burning a blu-ray disc in Encore CS6 from this mpeg2 bluray m2v file is no problem and look great even with the default settings.
However, I also want to burn a standard DVD using the same HD Encore CS6 project without having to go back to Premiere CS6 and output a 710x480 mpeg-dvd file.  I thought i could simply select the dvd format under the build tab in Encore thinking Encore would handle all the necessary conversions to burn a 720x480 DVD but the menus look jaggy and the video does not play smoothly.
Is it possible to burn a standard DVD correctly from an Encore CS6 HD project and content, or is it better to have Premiere CS6 output a 720x480 mpeg-dvd file and create a new standard 720x480 dvd Encore project instead?
Acording to Encore Help, it says "You can build the same project to DVD and Blu‑ray formats no matter which format you select in the New Project or Project Settings dialog box. Encore makes the appropriate adjustments to transcode the elements to the correct format.", but i'm not convinced Encore is doing things correctly.
    Thanks.

    Jim,
I tried a variation on your suggestion.
I exported a new m2v file using the mpeg-dvd from Premiere CS6 as you suggested with "Use Maximum Render Quality" checked to get better scaling from HD to SD. I imported it into my Blu-ray EncoreCS6 project by using the "Replace Asset" option and changed the "Project Settings" authoring Mode to "DVD" leaving the HD menu's "Aspect Ratio" at 16:9.  I then built the disc using the "Build" tab DVD format and output settings.
    It worked!
The jaggies are gone (except for some motion jaggies) and the DVD plays well.
I suppose I could have done something similar within Encore but I'll test that some other time.
