Encore DVD 2.0 crashes program on transcode.

Hello all
Running Encore DVD. 2.0 Finally got my MOVs in the time line (MPEG 4 720X480, 29.97). There are about 16 of them (long story). When I transcode any of them, some less than a gig, the transcode finishes and then I get a "General Error" message that will not go away. Have to force quit out.
The program will only start again if I re-start the system.
It was installed as part of the "production Studio" and I have un/re-installed it by itself with no change. Thinking of un/re-installeing the whole Production studio.
All input greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Steve

The files are from DVDs I have previously created and new material. so a verity of applications. But the key here is they work perfectly with Encore DVD 1.5, and some of them were from DVD created with Encore DVD 1.0 they must have worked with with it as well.
Thanks

  • Encore DVD 2.0 Forces Transcoding on Spec MPEG Files

Since I have upgraded to Encore DVD 2.0 it insists on transcoding many of the MPEG files. The file are 720x480 NTSC and within the MPEG specs. Also the file is marked a do not transcode in the project view.
In fact if I use Encore DVD 1.5 and load the same MPEG file and create an identical project it does NOT transcode the MPEGS files.
Encore DVD 2.0 also freezes on occasion when you preview the project. Again Encore DVD 1.5 does not have that issue with the same files.
Please let me know how to correct this problem.
    Thank You

  • Help needed on Encore DVD 2.0 Transcoding Process!

    Hi Guys,
I'm really first running Encore DVD 2.0 on WinXP SP2. My Computer is P4 3.0 GHz with 2 GB of Ram.
I have used Premiere elements converted the media file to 20GB .avi file ( 1.40 Hr duration) and exported to Encore DVD 2.0. In Encore, I have created menus, added subtitles and eveythingelse which needed for building disc. I've selected 1 Pass VBR which I believed it would make transcoding faster.
It is now in the transcoding progress ( Building disc), I have a feeling that I might did something wrong since the transcoding progress has been taking more than 8 hours. In the transcoding box, please see
    http://www.maicans.com/images/Image.JPG
The upper bar has moved to and stayed like that since the beginning, only the lower bar is still moving.
Does anyone has any idea why it takes so much time for transcoding. Have I done anything wrong?
    Thanks,
    Bank Vichayotin

  • Encore crashes at "Initiaizing Transcoding" - Workaround

New W7 machine with fresh CS4 Prod Prem install.
Encore CS4 locks up machine at "Initializing Transcoding". I updated drivers including my video driver and the Roxio driver recommended elsewhere, with no success. Finally disabled my DVD burner in Device Manager, and Encore opened without any problems.
I can move on this way, but obviously this is not ideal. Any ideas would be appreciated

OK - well, it would appear I need to not respond to a post just because something appears to work.  Yes, the work around does allow me to run Encore.  There is, however, absolutely no integration what-so-ever with Premier through bridge.
Kinda sucks!  I wanted to create a really fast DVD - link a timeline to Encore, and burn the DVD...  Nope - not gonna happen on Windows 7 64 Bit - you have to create the interim file, import the file as an asset, create the DVD, then delete the interim file...
Please, please Adobe - fix this issue!  The integration between all the various products is great, but only when it works.
    Hope this is fixed soon!
    Cheers,

  • Encore DVD 2.0 "Timeline has a (Hpgc) error at 00:00:00:00

System: Win XP, 1GB RAM etc. I've used Encore DVD 2 for 3 years, never had this error message:
"Timeline has an error at 00:00:00:00.
    PGC Error - PGC Info - name= (Name of Timeline) ref= Hpgc, time= 00:00:00:00"
Check project was initially fine. I rebuilt entire project, same error. But Checking project, this time round, said it was an AUDIO error.
Transcoding all works, then the error appears at the Start of the actual build.
Help, I have 30 orders for this DVD, and nothing to show!
    Raymond

    @Stanley,
Thank you for some more input on the PGC Error mess, like the "H" being a designator.
    @Raymond,
John's rec. for G-Spot is a good one. I use this about every week, and sometimes on many files in a day - depending on what client's load onto my desk. This little freeware program will do many things, but probably the most important is to tell you exactly what your AV (Audio/Video) file consists of, which CODECs are used for the Audio and the Video and whether your system has them installed.
As Stanley points out, MPG is not available (in or out) in the Premiere Trial version. Still, you should be able to File>Export>Movie and select, first Video (only, non-muxed) DV-AVI. Then do this again, but select Audio (only, non-muxed) PCM-WAV. This will give you elemental streams.
In Encore, Import_As_Timeline, your DV-AVI, and Import_As_Asset, your WAV. Drag your WAV to the Timeline.
Now, as the trial version does not allow any use of the MPG CODEC (licensing restrictions on the trial ONLY), you can't burn to DVD, which is MPEG-2, but you can Preview. You can also explore building a DVD with Menus, etc., you just cannot burn to folder, disc, etc., until you get the full version.
I have never had a PGC Error, nor have I ever seen a "Mismatched Audio" error. I tried to put much thought into the two PGC Error threads, but do not think I was able to help, at all. Also, most subscribers just posted, "yeah, me too," and never came back to answer anyone's questions. I also agree with Stanley, that most errors occurred well within the Project's Timeline, not at the beginning. I also agree with Stanley's suggestion to look at Jeff's and Neil's comments in those two threads. If noting else, their suggestions on how to work with Encore will give you a nice education.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[Edit] Re-reading this thread, I think I warned Raymond about a moot point. Raymond, if you have Encore2, of course you can burn a DVD. I saw the mention of "trial," and jumped to the conclusion that you had the trial of CS3 *only* which would not allow you to use EncoreCS3 for a burn operation. Obviously, the trial of the Premiere side will preclude your Exporting in MPG, and also preclude Exporting Audio with the SurCode Dolby Digital AC3 encoder (separate purchase from Minnetonka, but a great plug-in if you do Surround 5.1 Sound). Please pardon my warnings, and caveats, if you have Encore2.
Also, the Check Project function is mainly checking navigation within the DVD specs, and I've never seen any Asset errors from it. Maybe I just have not had any???? Still, good luck!

  • Encore DVD Writing Cancels won't play on DVD player issue

So I have a very confusing issue with encore.
When I press build everything works fine. Then writing begins. The moment the writing reaches the end of the progress bar (the exact moment)  the progress bar goes to empty and the bottom bar says canceling and ejects the DVD. Usually (not every time) a pop up menu saying "end of file" appears next. When I press ok for end of file message the pop up disappears and suddenly the DVD progress bar is filled and the DVD says completed (as if nothing just happened). So I'm confused whether it worked or not!
I reinsert the DVD that just ejected into my Mac and it works! Then I put it into a DVD player and it won't play, it won't play on my old Xbox 360 either, but it WILL play in a Bluray player?!
Everytime I rewrite the files I get different results. They all work on my Mac and blu ray but only 1 of 4 works in the Xbox. The one that does work in the Xbox will read in the DVD player but plays choppy and  skips  around as if the DVD is scratched or damaged?
! Other differences involve the write speed, sometimes the options are 8x or 4x. Other times its 3x,2x, and 1x. When the latter write speed options occur I cannot press "test before writing" it's greyed out. When 8x and 4x are the speed options I can check it.  I used different DVDs and it didn't help.
I work for a company that needs to copy the DVDs but they can't be copied. Don't know why?
    Here are my settings
    Mpeg 2-DVD exported from Pr.
    720x480
    Codecs: Mpeg video, Mpeg layer
    Duration: 1:10:26

    2 Menus
    1 Mpeg video
    1 Timeline

    Output: DVD disc
    Source: Create Using current project
    4.7 gb disc
    Has 510mb free
    All regions
    Unlimited copies
First Play and title button are a menu
    Check build is good.
I really need help with this weird issue quickly thanks.

Just an Update, I've tried many things to no avail still have a few others to try. Being a Large file it takes a while to try things.
I went ahead and got Toast, but considering that the Image Iso and the DVD Folder both gave me the End of File Error and the Disc "Failed Completed" Error I figured it a no go and it was. It did however give me something that Opened everywhere (Mac,Xbox,Dvd) , but it did not play on the Dvd correctly.
I've done numerous things in the Mac permissions end Like trying as a different user and running as the Root User, but it was also unsuccessful.
I've Re- Exported the file many different ways, but finally had a breakthrough using a version of M2v.  It's definitely an error with Finalizing. My disc previously began to mess up and give "END of File" after it finished writing, it never even made it to the "Writing Lead Out" stage. I beleive this is why it plays it certain places fine, but probably not as well in systems (like Dvd players) that require those last few steps like writing Lead Out.
The only issue I have now is that when I put it into the DVD player it say "No title"!?!? AY CARAMBA!!!
Now I'm working on trying to figure this NEW problem! I have all my menus and links in place, but no go. I think it may be related to the previous problem in that something beneath the surface is wrong with my computer. Being a used Mac with a restored Hard Drive there are probably endless possibilities, but I hesitate to think that way because it may also have absolutely nothing to do with it.
So any help is greatly appreciated
whether it be a specific issue you know of dealing with used Macs and issue similar to mine
or just on the "NO Title" error as a separate issue. I'm hoping this "No Title" is something simple and unrelated,  I've already burned through about 13 discs and even more pain pills for the headaches!!

  • Encore DVD for CS2

I'm aware CS2 is no longer supported.  I found this out when I tried to re-install Adobe CS2 Production Studio Premium, after a harddrive failure (something about the activation server being down).  I downloaded and installed the versions Adobe made available, that don't require activation.  The only thing I didn't see available was Encore DVD.  Does anyone know if Adobe has made a version of Encore DVD available to CS2 users who lost access to that program, or a contact for someone at Adobe who may be receptive to a support question about CS2?

Encore is a goner. Licensing restrictions with the MPEG stuff prevent Adobe from providing an unprotected version.

  • 2Hours Duration on Encore DVD

    Hi,
I'm using Encore DVD v2 to finalize 2hours and 14mins long video for the first time and Encore MSG pop up suggested either delete some content or increase disc size.
what is the deal here, i check the help readme, stated that 4.7gb dvd could record up to 2hrs? is there any way around this, like tell encore to decrease the quality of video contents and fit everything on a dvd for me? I don't want Dual-Layer which will be 4.7gb on disc 1 and 2.1gb on disc 2...
I'm thinking of finalize as 6.8gb image then use DVD Shrink to fit on 4.7disc, but if i do this will get lots of artifacts, since about 35mins worth of slide show will not be crisp..
    any other solution

    JTS
Yes, i'm using automatic transcoding, and the msg i getting is below 2Mbps
    AR
    it is set as DolbyDigital
Well i'll try it again next time on my next project, as for this one, what i did was burn the to custom ISO 6.83gb and i used dvd shrink and its now fit on 4.7gb disc, quality is not that bad.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
ONE MORE QUESTION, how do i now delete the project and all it contents off of my hard from Encore, or do i have to manually delete the folder?

  • Encore DVD 2.0 and Vista?,.....and Encore CS3 questions

Encore dvd 2.0....are you guys going to continue to support this and make a patch for it to run under Vista? if so where can I find it? Kind of bad to buy a product and the company drops support on it immediately after purchase and it won't run on the operating system....
Also is/will there be and upgrade to encore dvd 2.0?
I know that you have Encore cs3, is that the upgrade to encore 2.0? and will you be selling Encore CS3, separate from Premiere? I need nothing in Premiere and want the Encore dvd and for it to run with Vista. Please have an option to buy just the Encore CS3 without having to buy premiere and stuff that I don't need because if that is the case then I will not be buying Adobe products anymore. I won't be forced to purchase extra software I have no need for in order to get the one program that I want...it is not worth it..easier to change to a different company for that product...just asking...and if you care about your customers, you might at least listen and consider what I have requested..thanks..t

    >chances of them selling encore cs3 in the future separate?
Since their entire marketing push seems to be the bundling of the 2 products, I would say "slim to none"
    >hurry and buy encore 2.o
The least expensive way to get Encore 3 is to buy Premiere Pro 2 right NOW and get a free upgrade to Pro3+Encore3 when it is released
If you have any previous version of Premiere, you may even buy Pro2 for the upgrade price and receive the free upgrade to the version 3 duo

  • Problems importing .wmv file as an asset to CS3 Encore DVD

If anyone has any insight, it would be very much appreciated. I tried to find the answer by looking at this forum and google and I haven't been able to find any information. When I import the .wmv file on a mac to Encore DVD CS3, I am getting the following error message"The software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may help correct the problem."
Unfortunately this error message doesn't tell me where to look to resolve this. I have filp4mac installed and I am able to view .wmv files. So any insight on how to correct this issue would be very much appreciated. Take care - Julie

If your asset is very very large (like over two hours long) then Encore might insist on scanning the entire asset before importing it.  You should notice your hard drive light on steadily, or a lot of disk drive activity from Encore using a program like Process Explorer.

  • How to customize shortcuts in Encore DVD 2.0?

    Hi!
I need to customize some shortcuts because i am using a keyboard with a Swedish layout. If i press
Ctrl+; to show guides on a menu the menu zooms out...
In "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Encore DVD 2.0\Required" there is a file named
keymap.xml that i have customized some shortcuts in, but not all of the aviable shortcuts, Ctrl+; included, can be found in that file.
So, do you know where i can find the file so i can change Ctrl+; to something else? Is it possible at all?
    /Roger

There's no supported mechanism for modifying shortcuts in 2.0, sorry. It is on our list of feature requests though...
It sounds like "Ctrl + ;" is mapped to "Ctrl + ," on your keyboard. The Swedish keyboard layout shown in the link below shows that the comma and semi-colon characters share the same key:
    http://www-306.ibm.com/software/globalization/topics/keyboards/KBD285.jsp
Try holding the Shift key down when you use "Ctrl + ;" to see if that gets you the Show Guides gesture.

  • WTB: Encore DVD 2.0

Hello. I currently own both Premiere Pro 1.0 and Encore DVD 1.0. After trying out both PP 2.0, PP CS4, Encore 2.0, and Encore CS4, I have decided that the 2.0 versions of both programs are right for me. CS4 is just way more than I need.
So, I was wondering if anyone is willing to sell their 2.0 versions. At a minimum, I would like to have Encore DVD 2.0. I only use PP for capture and minor editing and I can live with version 1.0.
I am only interested in legit retail versions. Nothing OEM.
    Thanks.

    James,
I'm with you on the choice of versions. I will keep my EncoreDVD2, until I absolutely know that I have good reason to move up to CS4, or CS5. However, I could not sell my copy, even if I wanted to, as it is in my upgrade path.
A word of caution: several folk on other fora have been burned lately with used copies of EncoreDVD2. Most have already been registered and then Activated to the max # of Activations, so the buyers are stuck trying to get the $ back from the sellers. Make sure that you get all of the proper Adobe transfer documents
    b BEFORE
you pay for any copy. "Show me the paper!" Adobe is really good about helping people transfer legit ownership of their programs. They will reset the Activation aspect, when the program is legit. All transactions can be done via FAX and it takes only a day, or two. Get the paperwork first, or you will have problems.
And yes, EncoreDVD2 has been rock-solid for me. I love that program.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • 2 hours of video footage vs. 1 hour with Encore DVD 2.0

I am capturing video footage (from 8mm tape and VHS) via Adobe Premiere Pro then importing the avi file into Encore DVD. I transcode the avi with the Automatic setting in Encore and then build my DVD. My question is this: Is it better to build DVD's with one hour of footage as opposed to two hours? Is the quality of the video compromised when building a DVD with two hours of footage?
    Thanks so much,
    Angela

Inside the computer ALL source is digital... The key here is the subject matter
If you have a subject with little or no movement (a group sitting at a table having a talk) you could problem get 2-3 hours on a DVD and not notice any quality loss
If you are recording a soccer match with lots of action, fitting more than one hour on a DVD is very likely going to result in "motion artifacts" due to the compression
As I said before... there are many variables that control quality
The best way for you to find out with your source material... test
