Encore DVD's are shakey/jumpy after burning...

I'm very new to video but I've learned just enough to be dangerous, so any constructive help is appreciated.
Projects were shot on a Nikon D300s and D90(720p, 24fps), cut up in Premiere Pro CS5 and Dynamic Linked into Encore.  Using the standard NTSC, DVD defaults (didn't touch a thing), the final disc is shakey/jumpy.  Looks like flickering, but the image on screen is actually changing position in what looks like the vertical plane.
Here's where it gets weird.  .ncor files from my old CS4 system still burn beautifully.  If I open the old project in PPro CS5 and DL to Encore, shakey discs.  In the Encore Preview the project plays perfectly.
An observation I had was that the problematic timelines in Encore all had what looked like horizontal banding in the timeline "thumbnails".  The previous version .ncor files have clean thumbnails.
And if it helps, my little GoPro camera burns just fine.  What could be different between projects in CS4 and CS5?  Is it something that Premiere is doing or Encore?  Since the previews in Encore look good until you burn the disc, I'm thinking Encore is the culprit so far.
I'm sure I have left out a ton of pertinant details to help you help me, so please fire away.
Thanks

Would it be best when using Premiere and Encore, to use Adobe media Encoder and make my video into a file, then bring that file into Encore, or does it not make any difference which way you do it as I've just been putting my timeline straight into Encore when its ready to goto DVD.
You can do it either way. But if you export, you have one more step to make sure the fields are correct. Your problem, is probably in the Premiere settings, so I would do an export from AME unless you discover you need to.

  • Encoded dvd sticks at sane pint after burning

I am having this annoying problem with a wedding film we are producing. After exporting my qt file as prores I take the file into compressor and use the 90 min preset and create the DVD in DVD studio pro with chapter marks and menus at this point all is fine in simulation mode, it plays fine but when i burn a DVD it sticks at the same point every time. i have tried editing the film and taking out a section of footage bit it still sticks when i burn a dvd and play in my mac or on my tv!
Could it be in the audio track or something in the video timecode?
Note i: create DVDs every week like this same workflow with no problem and even burned the DVD on another mac but same problem

    Hi Allister
This may be stuff you have already tried but just in case ...you could try this if you have time.. trash (delete) all the project render files and do a full re-render .. then a new export as quicktime mov using current settings, I would then try it at each stage by burning it to DVD from inside Compressor and then if that works do all the DVD Pro fancy bits when I know it is working .. I say all this as once ..I had a sequence which stuck on any DVD player including the MAC, I had what I believe to be corrupt render files because when I trashed them and re-rendered it and created a new quickTime mov using current settings, it all worked fine ..

  • Encore CS3: First Play timeline freezes after burn only

Ok, so in Encore CS3 I have this timeline,it is set as first play and at the end it goes to a menu.
The video plays fine until near the end where it freezes on a frame for a few seconds and then continues fine. There are no other problems on the dvd. It occurs both on a physical disc and a disk image so it's not a player problem but it does not appear in Encore's previews.
I have tried re encoding the source file, deleting the timeline, re importing the footage.
    Any suggestions?

    Johnathan,
Tell us more about your Assets on this Play First Timeline. What are the files, format, Duration, etc.? Is this file muxed, or elemental streams? The greater the detail, the better.
I have not seen the behavior that you observe, hence my questions.

  • Video is static and jumpy after burning disc

I digitized some old home movies in Final Cut Pro and exported them as MP2s into DVD Studio Pro, formatted the disc and burned it and the video is static and jumpy when there is a camera pan or other movement across the screen. The picture if fine when there is little movement in the frame.
The video plays fine in the viewers of both Final Cut and DVD Studio. Any suggestions?

    Hi
Please post some info about your original movie format (DV, ??) and what settings did you use to encode it to MPEG2. Besides that, you would try encoding your audio to Dolby 2 (AC3) it you didn't yet. Using AIFF uncompressed audio can cause playbak problems.

  • DVD Playing in Fast Foward After Burn

    1. DVD simulates perfectly in DVDSP.
    2. Put it in one dvd player and it's like it's being fast forwarded. Menu, first play, everything. Not a DVD player issue.
    3. Put it in another DVD player and similar thing happens. It fast forwards part of the video and the voice gets off of the video. This is in the first play track.
Never seen this before and need help. I've done over 20 DVDs in DVDSP so I'm not a newbie.

It was a piece of video in the First Play that caused the problem. It was encoded at 6.2 MBPS while the main track was 5.0. Not sure if that was why but re-encoding that video fixed it.

  • Hello,  I am have problems with coruption of the photos in a slide show after burning the DVD in iDVD.  This coruption does not always appear when you preview the project.  I have slowed down the burn rate to 1X and kept the quality to professional.

I am having a great deal of problems with Data coruption in slide shows after I have burned a DVD in iDVD.  I have changed burn rate from best to 1X with no difference in the coruption.  I have the quality set to professional with no improvement.  The size of the project is near 3.95, so it should fit on a single layer burn.  Should I use either iMovie to create the slide show or "Photo to Movie"?  Also, can anyone comment on how I preserve the highest quality picture resolution with a slide show?  If I do use iMovie or Photo to Movie,  the file size should exceed the 4.2 size so, will I have to buy new DVD's which are capable to handle the double layer burn and upto 8 GB?  What DVD's are recommended?  Any preferred brand?  Are there problems with burning with double layer?  I read on this blog of numerous problems.

DVDs are LOW resolution by today's standards - only about 0.3 megapixels - so there is no way they your images on a TV set will look "High Definition".  See Preparing images for iDVD slideshows at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6675.html for recommendations on image sizes to use.  Using larger images won't give you better  quality, andf in some cases, will lower you image quality because  the Quicktime resizing that occurs isn't the best.

  • After burning to dvd, using idvd, movie stops on frame but audio continues

After creating imovie which works perfectly, and also after trasferring to idvd works perfectly, i have problems when playing back dvd after burning to disc. The movie stops but the audio continues. I altered the clip but same thing happened in next clip after next burn. I don't think its a corrupt clip, but maybe something to do with WHEN it occurs in the movie. Any suggestions? After 4 goes and many hours burning I am stumped!

    Hi Tomma1
And welcome to apple discussions. It's good you chose to use 16 bit audio for all of your source material. And assuming this is accurate info .... From what I can tell, you are doing nearly everything correctly. However let me ask you a few questions.
    1. Are you using the boot volume (the hard drive where iDvd and Leopard are actually located) to encode your dvd (yes/no)?
    2. More importantly, does the disc image also go out of sync when played thru apple's dvd player app? or does it only happen on the burned dvd-r?
    3. Are you using Verbatim Dvd-R or an alternate brand? if it's the latter, then for troubleshooting purposes while on this forum; please use Verbatim Dvd-R. (it helps us eliminate additional / possible variables). Thereafter feel free to use the media that works best for you and your mac.
    4. Have you tried an alternate encoding setting other than pro quality setting? and do you get the same results?

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Video hangs after burning on a DVD

    Hi,
after burning a project with menus and several chapters, I notice the DVD is hanging after a few chapters. My DVD burner itself should be ok, I got no hardware failures and it's working fine with Nero Burning ROM. Any suggestions??
    Tx a lot,
    Kristof

You used iTunes to burn the CD? If so, it should work. The question is, did you choose "back up to disc," or did you create a playlist, and choose "Burn playlist to disc?"
If you do it the first way, you are just saving the actual music files (not in CD format) to a CD.
If you create playlist and burn playlist to disc, you are making an actual Audio CD that will play in any CD player.
If you are already using the second method, are you using a CD-R, or CD-RW? Some players have problems w/RW's.
Btw, iTunes songs are not MP3 format, so I don't think you'll be able to find a "converter." LOL

  • Unsupported format after burning on DVD Player

I burn many discs on iDVD and always do it the same way - I have found that a few of the discs are unable to be read on my player after burning.  So some work fine and some cannot be read in the Player.  I get the message "Unsupported Format" on my player.  Any suggestions?

If iDVD didn't have sound before you authored the DVD, you won't have sound after the DVD is created.  Did you create a self contained Quicktime movie out of your editing system before importing into iDVD?  Did the Quicktime file have sound in the Quicktime Player?  Here's an article I wrote about transferring your HD footage to DVD.  You need to break the process up into steps to avoid problems.

  • DVD freezes after a while (Encore DVD 2.0)

    Hi,
after burning a project with menus and several chapters, I play the DVD on a DVD player(not a computer !), and the DVD is hanging after a few chapters.
My DVD burner itself seems to be ok. I tried with an other burner, and I've got the same problem. After 40/45 mn the DVD hangs with large pixels. Sometimes, the DVD goes on. Sometimes, it hangs and I cannot do anything.
I burned a lot of different DVD (Philips, TDK, Sony) with different speeds (4X, 8X, 16X), and I always get the problem.
That's my first project under Encore DVD. All other projects have been burned directly from Premiere Pro 2.0, without problem. I've exported the sequences from PPro 2.0 using the following (and common) parameters : MPEG2-DVD, CBR 6 Mbits, 720 x 576, PAL, Quality 5.0,
Is it a known bug of Encore ?
Does it sound to anybody ?
    Many thanks for your help.

I am having a problem with the DVD's playing as well. They work on my computers, but others tell me they start for about 15 minutes and start to fail. Some computers can play them, some not. I am thinking that because I have large files that I do not chapter, there is a memory issue with the computers. Will chaptering when I author make the dvds load eaiser?
