Encore "Edit Preset Quality" Window Won't Open
When I tro to open the "Edit Presets Quality" window in Encore CS3, nothing happens. Well, not nothing... it seems that MAYBE the window is opening in RAM but not displaying. Why do I think this? Because if I try to click anywhere else in Encore, I hear a beep like "DING!" that Windows makes when a program has a different widow open that needs your attention before you can continue to use the program.
I have tried to delete all presets from the presets folder, tried to uninstall and reinstall Encore, restarted the computer.... nothing helped.
What could be wrong?
I use Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit
RESOLVED:
All I had to do was open try to open the Presets Settings Window, go to Screen Resolution Settings (of Windows) and change the screens by setting second screen as "Set this to default monitor". As soon as I did this, the presets window was displayed. Then I just put the first screen back to default monitor and the Presets Window was there for good. Works now.

So, in my FCP7 projects, the Boris 3D text editing window won't open without deleting FCP preferences first. I've tried new projects, old projects, open all new windows on top settings. Once I delete the preferences, viola, opens right up. I can rebuild my preferences and after just a few days it won't open again... without preference delete.
I'm on a Macbook Pro 17'" i7 and do most of my editing on a 27" Apple Cinema Display. This is the only reason I could come up with. However I did some editing from the Macbook's screen and after 1 day, the Boris 3D editing window again refused to open. I have no idea. Is this is a known bug, etc.?

Help! Mail freeze: window won't open, nor will it close so I can restart
I've just had a strange problem with Mail. The window won't open - or has issues with opening (it did, but only briefly). It's generally having problems - its menus aren't dropping down - and I would like to quit and restart the computer (a Mac Mini). I've tried an apple q and nothing is happening. So the computer won't restart unless I force a shut down by manually holding down the button.

Sort of. As part of the next update we'll make Muse ignore the 125% scale setting. This will make it easier for you to use that setting with all your other applications, but even when your Display is set to scale 125% the Muse UI will be presented at 100%. Unfortunately the current transition architecture of Muse (part native 64-bit app and part Adobe AIR app internally) combined with how Windows 8 and 8.1 achieve 125% scaling means it will be quite some time before Muse will be able to correctly support 125% Display scaling. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Have 2, i7 MBPR. One is running 10.8.5 and one is running Maverick 10.9.4. On the one with 10.9.4, whenever I launch the console.app, the window won't open. Even when I choose "New Log Window" or command n from the menu. The MBPR running 10.8.5, the console.app works as it should. Anyone else running 10.9.x experience the same and found a fix?
Do a backup. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Then re-install the OS.

Safari Window won't open, then crashes
Hey everyone. I've been using Safari 5 for a few days now and have had no problems. Suddenly, it crashed, and now whenever I open Safari, it won't open a window or tab. Then, when I quit it does the "sorry, Safari quit unexpectedly."
Any help would be appreciated.

PDF Opens Fine in Acrobat Reader (Windows), Won't Open in Acrobat Reader (Playbook)
Hi. Anyone have a suggestion for a PDF file that opens fine in Adobe Acrobat Reader on one platform (in my case, both Windows Vista and Windows 7), but won't open on another (in my case, Blackberry Playbook)? This is a camera operation manual from Pentax: I have downloaded it from Canadian, US and Japanese websites (different file names, same file size), but always get the same result.
Here are some of the details:
1. I can see the PDF file on both platforms, and it's the same size on both platforms (i.e. it's not a copying error creating a null-sized file on the Playbook).
2. Technically, you could say it "opens" on the Playbook, because Adobe Acrobat Reader launches... but the document reads like a zero-page blank file.
3. All the other PDFs I've ever used on the Playbook are fine: I have PDFs with hundreds more pages than this one, and they read and open OK.
I would get around the problem by saving the PDF in a different format, but password protection is preventing me from doing that.
Any suggestions you can offer will be welcome.
Thanks.Hi Kenneth, I am having this same issue but I am in a domain controlled environment. What I discovered is that I had to go to the actual exe file in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe then right click on the exe, run as local administrator. Then I got a pop-up talking about this protected mode that I have seen in other places. I chose to ALWAYS open with protected mode disabled. Then my reader opened and worked perfectly. UNTIL I closed it and tried to open it again as my user. My problem is that I can't even get to the settings as my user to be able to disable protected mode. It seems the setting change is user to user not system wide. I hope this helps. Hopefully though I can get some help on being able to disable protected mode for the whole system. I currently can't find a registry key...there must be one!!

As noted above, Firefox won't open a new window. I restarted machine without closing Firefox. Now, I get the Firefox menu bar but it won't open a window. I'm using mac, with OS X 10.6Firefox doesn't install new versions of plugins, but Flash may update itself automatically.<br />
You are still one version behind on Flash, current is Flash 10.1 r85<br />
If the Flash player didn't update properly then you need to download the full version and run the installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...)

Did you find a solution to this? You're right about Lion dropping Rosetta support. And you're right that Fireworks CS5 is an Intel application.
This seems like a perfect question for Adobe tech support. Have you tried contacting them? (If that's not an option, you might try Apple, since the problem relates to the Lion OS.) -
The batch window won't come up. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing. The only Settings and Destinations windows open but nothing else.

Properties window won't open - can't make links on website now - how can I fix?
Starting today when I try to open the Properties window to make a link the window won't appear and open...the Properties is checked as if it is open, but it doesn't appear on the screen so I can make a link on my website
Try Window > Workspace Layout > Reset and see if that brings it back.

When I select a the {.} 'trigger/actions' icon it won't open the Actions window. I can see a faint outline/shadow of a window about 50px X 50px which stays offset from the click location as if the window won't redraw

I managed to copy the Application folder from one of the other Desktops that still had the older version.
Initially there was a pathing issue to the newer version (Probably still in regedit) however I just adjusted the Application Folder name and since the path resolves it's all working now on 4.0.1 again.
Adobe has completely changed the symbol Obj in 4.1 so if you are referencing undocumented attributes to symbols in your legacy applications you're in for an interesting day or two upgrading all your scripts. PLAN FOR THIS IN YOUR QUOTE TO A CLIENT if you intend to upgrade any Legacy applications

As you can read above, that's it. The only thing I can think of is that I did a Microsoft update and then my Firefox stopped working. It won't start up. Windows and tabs won't open. It's completely unresponsive. I have uninstalled and reinstalled new and old Firefox, yet I have the same problem.

Jabber and Bonjour windows won't open
My jabber and bonjour windows have stopped opening. They used to work. One day I closed them and can't get them open again. Any help out there?

Summary of the last.
In iChat > Preferences > Accounts the items should be marked as Use the Account
This will log it in but will not guarantee display of the Account's Buddy List as you can Hide it as I described before.
In iChat > Preferences > Accounts the list is drag-able so that they can be in any order you want.
This effects the order they display in iChat's Window menu and the Keystrokes Used. If you have them as AIM, Bonjour then Jabber - the Keystrokes will be Apple (⌘) key and 1 for AIM, then Apple (⌘) and 2 for Bonjour and the Jabber one is then Apple(⌘) and 3 (Keys are used together at the same time)
It also effect the order the accounts display in iChat menu > Accounts.
Clicking this red button will hide that particular Buddy List

These menu Options do not mean the Buddy List is visible.
As I have iChat 4, the order is as I set them in iChat > Preferences > Accounts as the list here can have one item dragged above or below another.
As I have two names that work with the AIM servers the AM valid names shows as the Account name rather than saying "AIM Account"
IF you highlight the Buddy List Name as I have done in this pic you can Hide or Reveal the Buddy List (Alternate action). Using the red button highlighted in the first pic hides the Buddy List)
You will notice the Keystrokes to use at the end of the line.
I am not sure where you mean you are clicking on a Red button in your last paragraph - unless you mean you are clicking on the iChat icon in the DOCK when it displays a red blob with a number to say how many text messages you have not read there are.
It is possible to have a chat with a Buddy from a List that is Hidden and clicking the iChat icon should bring the Chat window to the Front rather than make the Buddy List appear.
Unfortunately I do not have a Buddy free at the moment I write this to check the variants.
