Encore Help | Exporting projects to Flash format

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/using/exporting-projects-flash-format.html

It strikes me that Adobe can't settle on what to call an Encore project that has been output to Flash.
Is it a "Web DVD"? That term is used repeatedly in the New Features section. Is it simply "Flash". The Build panel lists the format as "Flash" and the Output as "Flash (.swf)." Or is it a "Flash DVD" or a "Flash Project"? Both terms are used in this page.
Flash output is an important feature of Encore. It would be a good thing to use a consistent name for the assets you end up with after you output to Flash.

  • Export Project To Flash CS5 From Captivate 4

    Can I export to Flash CS5 from Captivate 4?  The File > Export > Project To menu only provides options for Flash CS3 and Flash CS4 and they are greyed out.  I have only CS5 Master collection installed.

    Hello there,
    Unfortunatley, you cannot export to Flash CS5 from Adobe Captivate 4. You would need to upgrade/purchase Adobe Captivate 5 to do this.
    The other option would be to export to see if you can still download trial copy of Adobe Flash CS4 Professional, export your Captivate file and then open it in Flash CS5 Pro.

  • Some questions about creating web animations with lighter data and exporting to vector Flash format.

    Hi, I will be creating animations in After Effects mostly using Illustrator vector files and will be exporting to SWF or XFL for using the animations on the web.
    One of the priorities is light data as possible to provide viewers with slower connections with better experience. However the animation should also impress and I need to find a balance between performance and possible imagery.  The animations may have sound and voice narrative.
    I need help with understanding which type of non-vector data is heavier than others. Non-vector image data or sound and voice? And from non-vector image data is some of it lighter or heavier than other - for example motion blur vs smooth gradient vs many colors?
    I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, tips, pointers, etc.,

    Let's do a little "Myth Busters" on that one, shall we?
    Vector data is per se not "lighter" than pixel data. You could have complex paths for which storing the information of the individual nodes takes up more space than a pixel image of the object.
    Dynamic rasterization of vector data costs CPU performance and may in effect make things more slow than just playing a series of pixel images. That would apply to anything from path strokes to gradients.
    All your pretty AI vectors don't mean anything if they are constructed in such a way that either AE or Flash need to rasterize them on import. Anything from converting Bezier paths to paths consisting of dense linear segments to converting fills, patterns, gradient meshes and so on to pixel data
    Pixels are pixels. It does not matter whether they are gradients, mothionblur or just non-antialiased shapes. Flash doesn't care and neither image format that may be used in Flash stores any more or less info. They only differ in their methods, but in the end it's for you to decide whether you use JPEG, PNG8 or PNG24. They all have their pros and cons.
    It makes a difference, if data is embedded in an SWF or if it is externally linked just as it makes a difference whether you enforce audio sync or not, playing every frame or not.
    So for all intends and purposes, it's still up to you to make up your own mind and find the best solution. And Rick has a point - if you're really that concerned about efficiency, then do it in Flash or Flash Catalyst and consider the options there that may help like GPU accelerated layer styles for drop shadows etc., dynamic text or your vector data remaining vector in teh first place.

    Hi, sorry in advance for newbie question...
    I have an edited project in imovie '09 and am trying to export or share... plan on burning it on an external DVD. What should I be choosing in Export or should Ibe using the Media Browser?? I tried exporting both large and then medium... but both versions had video glitches/dropouts that I do not see in the edited project in imovie. I am going to try exporting using quicktime, see if that works any better... whats best for the final DVD burn... mpeg4, or DV or ???
    Thanks for any help!

  • Help - exporting projects, referenced files, tiff or jpg?   etc...

    I have a tricky dilemma and would appreciate work-flow advice!
    - I have one master Aperture library on my MacBook Pro
    - I have two 20GB projects on an external hard drive - 40GB total - some of the files are RAW and some are JPG.
    - I only have 14GB of free space on my MacBook Pro.
    What I want to have is just one Aperture library located on my MacBook with ALL master files externally referenced on the external hard drive. Given the file size problem, I know I can
    - create a new Aperture Library on the external drive
    - import the projects
    - then export VERSIONS and save critical adjustments
    - OR I can move the MASTERS into a new folder and re-import, but then I'd loose critical adjustments, right?
    So how do I get the adjusted images from the 2 PROJECTS into the Aperture library on my MacBook Pro with no loss of quality?
    I could:
    - create new library on external drive
    - import projects
    - export versions (at what export setting?)
    - open original library on MacBook
    - import as referenced files
    but if this is my only option... then what is the BEST export setting to use? TIFF 16-BIT?
    any other options? am i missing anything?
    thanks all.
    - sean

    Keep your existing Library on your MBP and use Referenced Masters. Relocate your Masters to external drives.
    That should do everything you need.
    Good luck!

  • Any way to export project to original format (dv) without loosin quality?

    I know that many has been said in the forum of exporting and file formats, and I have read lots of posts relating the topic, but I need to put another question concerning the issue.
    I have a MiniDV video camera and use iMovie08.
    I just want to select wich clips I use, join some of them to make a short video and save them as mp4 or mov format to save on disk and delete the .dv original files.
    I don't want in the process to loose much quality.
    I know how to do it with iMovie but the results are not good, because I notice a big loose in brightness and color that affect every clip.
    I have try to convert one clip using ffmpegx with the h.264 (x264) setting and the result was very good and fast.
    I them decide to export in imovie to .dv thinking that I will get the original quality and them compress with ffmpegx but even this setting get the same loose in brigthness and color.
    I know that there are some filters to adjust the output but they are very time consuming and I do not need them with ffmpegx.
    1.- Why the loose of brightness and color in every imovie setting? The settings with ffmpegx are nearly the same and that doesn't happen.
    2.- Is there a way to export out of imovie to convert in ffmepx without loosing any quality?
    Thank's very much.

  • Cannot export 16:9 aspect widescreen project to flash. 4:3 screen

    I am trying to export an Encore project to flash and everything is setup in preferences and filmed in 16:9 wide screen format, however when I export to flash the project is automatically letter boxed and fitted into a 4:3 flash window. Very disappointed that no option is available to choose an aspect and with everything wide screen now days why would you choose to offer 4:3?
    Is there a work around here or is there plans to offer a choice soon for us guys who desire the 16:9 aspect?

    The manual says it exports to 640 x 480 (or something smaller than 720 x 480 cant remember.) It is a bummer, but i love this feature so much I will take whatever. Maybe next version they will have options for different pixel aspect ratios.

  • Help Exporting Flash CS3

    Hi guys, I'm new in the forum and I don't know if what I need
    has already been published.
    I'm using Flash CS3, I'm learning how create text effects and
    animations. My problem is that when I export movie and save this as
    .SWF, it save it succesfully but my parters can't see the movie
    even having Flash Player. If they open it with Internet Explorer
    they can see the movie.
    There's a way they can see the flash movie without set up
    Internet Explorer to open it?
    Thanks.

    Doesn't seem to be specific to Vista.
    I've had similar issues trying to export to Flash. But
    sometimes it seems to
    work beautifully (although always with an error message about
    "unable to
    find Flash.exe" or similar), aside from in issue with the
    backgrounds all
    importing to Flash at the wrong size. This is easily worked
    around, and has
    been discussed here a number of times.
    My first suggestion to you is to try rebooting your machine
    before trying to
    export again.

  • Encore CS5.1 - Black project after flash build

    When I export my encore project to flash all my videos are black, can't see anything.
    Everything works fine though in preview mode, I can see everything.
    What could I be doing wrong?

    I am playing locally.  I read on another forum with someone who had grey project they had to rename their source files because it included characters that was messing with the xml file.
    I don't really know how xml works but I tried doing the same thing since i recall having many hyphens, but that didn't do anything either.
    I don't understand what could be causing this to happen.
    Do you NEED time lines in Encore?  I have Menu with 5 buttons, split to 5 additional menus (with buttons).  Every menu I have has a background video (mp4) attached to it.  They all loop/connect to each other.   It's like a browse products type of thing.
    Now preview works perfectly, but does not having a timeline have anything to do with my problem?  I don't see why it would be a problem, but this is my first time using this program.

    SoCal thanks for the attention,
    sorry for having wrote the question directly in the subject, but first i wrote it by text edit then copied it, but in the wrong place too.....
    coming to my question, timeline settings are:
    as it is a commercial promo that must be projected in a multiplex cinema, the 2K format is needed.
    I've heard about transcoding services, and they are very expensive.
    so i'm looking if there is a way to do everything by fcp.
    the project will be delivered as SD DVD for archive pourposes and as a single file for the projection or eventually transconding.
    p.s.: sorry for my english, i'm from italy: had my last english lesson 35 years ago!

  • Bass-sound disappear when exporting to Adobe Flash Video format

    I'm making a guitar-tutorial on video, and want to export parts of it to Adobe Flash video by using Adobe Media Encoder. But when I do that, it sounds like the bass-sound of the band disappear. The sound generally becomes low also. Maybe there is a connection. Anyway, with the sound I have now, I can't use the video in flash format :-(
    I've tried bitrates of both 128 and 256 kbps, which should be more than plenty.
    Help would be appreciated.

    Yes
    I selected DVD/CDROM in the "Data Rate" category...?
    Umm....I assume you're exporting from FCP using QuickTime conversion,
    so you can choose a QuickTime movie, H.264, and choose
    Frame Rate: Current
    Key Frames: Automatic
    Frame Reordering: Checked
    Quality: Best
    Encoding: Best
    Data Rate: Automatic ... which then means you don't need to choose DVD/CDROM.
    Give that a try and see how it looks.

  • Urgent Help !!!  Export data into insert format (Oracle Sql developer)

    Hi all,
    Please help , when i try to export ms access table which have 400,000 over rows to insert format using oracle sql developer 1.5.5. After the export have done the exported file xxx.sql is empty.
    Is it because of too many rows? or what tool or function should i use for exporting table with many rows.
    It used to have exported successfully with
    Insert into table( ) values ();
    Insert into table( ) values ();
    Insert into table( ) values ();
    Insert into table( ) values ();
    ----- when i try to export table with over 10,000 row.
    Regard,
    Tun

    Another option is to export your file as Formatted text (space delimited). This will create a fixed format file. You can either create an external table to access the file or use sqlloader to load it. In your control file or access parameters you will specify the positions of the fields you are interested in. Your control file will look something like this:
    OPTIONS (BINDSIZE=50000,ERRORS=50,ROWS=200,READSIZE=65536)
    LOAD DATA
    CHARACTERSET US7ASCII
    INFILE '/home/FIXED_FORMAT.dat' "FIX 58"
    CONCATENATE 1
    INTO TABLE "EMP2"
    APPEND
    REENABLE DISABLED_CONSTRAINTS
    "ID" POSITION(1:2) INTEGER(2) ,
    "REGION" POSITION(3:3) INTEGER EXTERNAL(1) ,
    "DEPT" POSITION(4:6) INTEGER EXTERNAL(3) ,
    "HIRE_DATE" POSITION(7:14) DATE(8) "mmddyyyy" ,
    "SALARY" POSITION(15:19) DECIMAL(9,2) ,
    "NAME" POSITION(20:34) CHAR(15)
    SQLDeveloper does not currently provide an option to import fixed format files.

  • Help Exporting Embedded Video Files From Flash

    I am new to Flash and this may sound, well dumb but here it goes.  I have taken some video files from Final Cut Pro converted them to FLV's imported them and embedded them into flash to create some banners for the web.  I need to know what settings I should use to get these out of Flash for the web.
    Also I need to send them to someone to look at before publishing.  What would be the best format to do that in and how to do it.
    Also has anyone has any experience creating banners in or online ads in a Video format like FCP and embedding them into a flash file to export them in flash for we publishing.  Sorry again for the dumb question, just new to Flash.

    Is there a reason why you embedded the video in Flash rather than using the FLV player?
    Starting with the video, since you have the source you can create any type of format you need from that which can be used for preview or the final version depending on where it's  going to end up and what is required or preferred.  Flash comes into play if the requirement is to have a SWF/FLV other than some other video format, or if you have other Flash content going on at the same time besides the video.
    But using Flash for this, the most stratghtforward way is to use the FLV player included with Flash (or another 3rd party player) and point it to your FLV.

  • Importing Flex project into Flash CS5 for use with iPhone packager? Please Help.

    Hi all,
    I have been developing an application in Flex builder for the iPhone using the iPhone packager, where I've been using the Flex framework.
    Now I'm stuck at trying to use my existing libraries in Flash. It seems I can't add the UI components I used in Flex (class VideoExample) to the default Flash container. I need someone's help who has experience with that.
    I have created a .SWC file, but when I'm trying to add the container in Flash using addChild(new VideoExample) it doesn't work. I can't load the .SWF externally using loader.load() at runtime, because the application is for iPhone. Any solutions how could I import the project to Flash?
    I was thinking about changing the UI components classes from mx.* to fl.*, but I would have to change many code and I'm not sure if it would even work, and I don't want to loose compatibility with mxml.
    Please respond, help would be very much appreciated!
    Here's my mxml wrapper, from which I start the main application:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" applicationComplete="EntryPoint.main()">
    </mx:Application>
    Then I have a class which creates the main container:
    package {
    import mx.core.*;
    public class EntryPoint {
        public static function main():void {
            var client:VideoExample = new VideoExample();
            var mxmlApp:Application = Application(Application.application);
            mxmlApp.addChild(client);
    Here is the main class VideoExample:
    package {
    import mx.controls.*;
    import mx.containers.*;
    public class VideoExample extends Canvas {
        public function VideoExample() {
            super();
            init();
            private function init():void {
            loadImage();
            loadText();
                    loadDisplay();
                    startConnection();
