Encore menu done in Photoshop issue

For the past few years I build a DVD menu in Photoshop that I used in Encore. I have a roll over command for each chapter (=1) there are anywhere for 26-30 chapters. Every year I have done it with success except for this year.
I'm using Encore 5.0.0.508
So this year as in the past I using a old Photoshop menu and just updated the chapters and graphics.
When I preview the menu in Encore only the first 18 of 30 chapters rollover works.
Things i tried:
1) Imported the previous menu for last year and it works without any issues. (This is the file I used this year as the template.
2) When I delete the delete one of the first 1-18 chapters then chapter 19 will work when I rollover it. If I delete let's say chapters 1 and 2 then chapter 19 and 20 will work. It just seems the magic number is 18 chapters total.
Other notes:
1) the only thing I imported into Encore are the Photoshop file which I imported as a menu
2) I'm using Photoshop CS 5
3) Doing a 1280x720p 59.94 Blu-Ray project in Encore
Thanks in advance, Bob

I'm then puzzled is this the reason why my 2010 file that is 720x486 with 30 buttons work?  Is there a work-around for me...2 page menu?

  • How do I sample color from a photoshop image and apply it to an Encore menu color sets

I'm about 3 months and many hours of tutorials into Premiere ProCC, Audition CC, and Encore CS6. Apparently the nifty dynamic links from PPro and Audition CS6 no longer work with encore, as encore was not upgraded to CC. So, I want to sample color from an original photoshop image, and create an Encore menu color set, so that my menu bttons, etc. are colored to match the main photo image in the menu. Is there an eyedropper kind of tool in Encore that would let me sample the color from the image, and then apply that to color swatches in the Encore button layers? If there is I can't find it! ~Thanks!

Strangely enough, I started a thread on this issue a few days ago in the Creative Cloud forum.  I had to uninstall all my pre-CC adobe software to get the Application Manager in sync with the CC apps, so when I tried to use Encore, there it was gone.  So I reinstalled PremPro CS6 just to get Encore back, but when I right clicked a menu in Encore, as asked to Edit in Photoshop, it threw up an error.  The consensus was that Encore CS6 would know nothing about Photoshop CC, so after much time searching for a fix, my only option was to either reinstall Photoshop CS6, or do it manually.
I took the latter option using Windows 7 to search for the menu, and open/with Photoshop CC.  Stan Jones, who is the Encore equivalent of our Noel, mentioned a brick-bat, but I just saved the edit file and dragged it into Encore, and it worked fine

  • Can I export Encore menu to photoshop to edit?

I understand that I can create DVD menu in photoshop & import to Encore.
But, is it possible to export the Encore menu (which is shipped with Encore) to Photoshop to edit (& then import to Encore again)?

Also, you can Rt-click on the Menu in the Menu Editing Panel, and choose Edit in Photoshop.
If you do not have that, then go to your Control Panel>Folder Options, and check that the File Type, .PSD, is allocated to Photoshop. If not, reset this. Many programs will "steal" file affinities.
    Good luck,

  • Editing Encore CS6 Menus in Photoshop CC 2014

Using Encore CS6 in Win7, when I try to edit an Encore menu in Photoshop CC 2014 a message comes up saying that Photoshop is not installed .... even when Photoshop is already running!!
I am familiar with RegEdit and have modifed entries in the Win registry many times in the past.
Is there a way I can get Encore to work with Ps CC version? Or, do I have to go back and re-installed my old Photoshop Elements 11?
    Thanks in advance.
    Paul

Does the error say it is not installed or that it is "undefined"? Same issue; just curious.
You don't say, so start at square one: when you double click on a psd file in windows explorer, what happens?
That has been the number one fix to this error.
For example: "Edit Menu in Photoshop" not working?
There have been other issues in getting Encore CS6 to work with cloud versions.

  • Is it possible to export a DVDSP menu as .PSD Photoshop file?

I promise this will be the last question for tonight. Is it possible to export a DVDSP menu as .PSD Photoshop file with its layers intact? I'd like to examine the structure to see if there's an easy way to re-create all my EncoreDVD menus as DVDSP menus.
    Peace, BJ

Without opening DVDSP, I can't say for sure, but is there an option to export the menu as Movie to Image Sequence? Is there an option to export the menu at all? Sorry for asking a question to answer a question, but I don't have my scratch disk with me and don't want to open DVDSP without having my current project with me. However, the image sequence wouldn't give you layers. Simply put, I don't think so. Apple's apps have played well when it comes to importing .psd files, but as far as creating them, not so well. As far as recreating Encore Menus, is there an XML type file that's compatible with both Encore and DVDSP where you could just reconnect your media assets in DVDSP and then import this XML file?
Good luck either way and report back with what you find,
    -Brian

  • Encore Menu Layer Mask

    Hello
I'm new to DVD/Blu-ray authoring with Encore. I want to create an animated/motion menu with a video in the background. However, I want the video to only show in a portion of the screen. For example, Encore has a template in their library called 'Television'. This menu template has a photograph of an old CRT television with a video of static displayed on its screen. I would like to create a menu template with Photoshop that utilizes the same effect but I don't know which application to use. The Encore Help documentation states that you can "resize or mask video in Premier or mask a portion of the video with a layer in the menu". I can't figure out if you can mask the video layer with Encore or if you can do it in Photoshop. It seem logical to be able to do it Photoshop but I can't determine how. Any suggestions?

The video  you import to Encore (or dynamic link) must be what you see in the background. so, for example, in Premiere, scale the video to the size/location you want, and import a PSD for the foreground. But the exported movie from PR will have the still and moving parts of the background.

  • Make my After Effects composition into an Encore menu... How?

I'm new to After Effects, but have had a fair bit of experience with Encore. I've managed to create a rather cool looking menu in AE for a DVD i'm going to create in Encore, but it is obviously an AE composition, which consists of a Photoshop layer and a video layer. I know how to add buttons etc. for Encore in Photoshop/AE, but what I can't figure out is how to take the composition I've created in After Effects into Encore and have it as a menu?
What I have created is fairly simple. It's just one Photoshop layer (excluding the buttons ofcourse) and a single video layer, manipulated in 3D space so it appears as though it's showing on a TV screen in my Photoshop image. I've seen tutorials for creating a simple video button in Encore, but what I'm doing is somewhat more complicated as the video layer is blended in with the Photoshop layer in After Effects, so I can't link to it separately.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance...

Moving backgrounds to menus need to be imported into Encore as video files unless you are able to use Dynamic Link to streamline the process (I don't have DL so can't help with practical advice).
If you are animating the button images, you will not be able to use them as buttons until you transition into the Encore menu itself.
There's a video tutorial on animating menus in After Effects either on a DVD in the box or on line at http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/

  • Encore Menu Audio Glitch in Blu-Ray

I've been trying to burn a BRD in Encore for several months now and have not been successful as yet. I can burn a disk in Blu-Ray with operating menu and everything is fine -- except - I cannot get the menu audio to play for more than 10 seconds.  I've tried using a custom menu made from Photoshop, menu from the Encore Library.  I've tried converting the audio from mp3 or wav to AAC format.  I've tried using Adobe Media Encoder to encode the audio.
I do not have these issues when burning a regular DVD.  Regular DVDs build just fine.
I have checked everything in the Encore menu properties box and everything appears to be fine. I've reviewed the training disk and I appear to be doing everything correctly.  I've tried everything mentioned in this forum -- I think.     I've tried importing the audio asset as a .wav, PCM, AC3, and mt2a.  I  My system specs are listed below.  Can anyone provide any additional information on how I can fix this?
I tried using it on my Win7 system as well, but the Blu_ray build just totally freezes the Encore program.

  • Menus Done in Photoshop Look Junky

My client gave me some menus that he had done in Photoshop by some print designers.
When I was authoring the DVD, my instincts told me the menus would look terrible and once done...they do. There are jaggies/stairsteps all over the place on the type and some icon art they have created. The actual overlays actually look OK, its the base type on the background that looks bad.
Photoshop is not my forte...what do I tell these guys to do to the menu art so the type is smooth?

    Thanks for the input...BUT-
Title safe is not the problem (I already took care of that one with them).
I'll lay it out...The PS file for teh mene has two layers...the background and the overlay. The overlay (for the button colors in the three selection states) is essentially fine.
It's aliasing a little but I can live with it.
The problem is the base layer in the PS File. It includes the title of the section, the chapter names and some little icon graphics. This is where the problem lies. All the type in this layer (which I am sure was done in separate layers for each type element and then flattened) is aliasing...badly.
The font size and style are marginally acceptable for TV...not what I would have picked but OK, so jacking up the size or using another font is not the solution.
Seems like they did not anti alias the type before the flattened the base layer or something like that. Am I on the right track here or is it something else.

  • Importing Encore CS6 menus into Photoshop CC

So, I'm faithfully cruising the web and the forums looking for answers to this question, and that is: "How do I import an Encore menu into Photoshop now that the Dynamic link functionality no longer works with Encore CS6 and any of the CC suite. I'm working mostly with Encore CS6, PProCC, AuditionCC, and learning as I go." Do the menus exist as an "asset" file somewhere that would allow me to get it into Photoshop? Thanks for the help! Any tips greatly appreciated. ~Bond

In Encore, add the menu to the project. Then right click and "edit in photoshop." This is part of your learning curve, even if you eventually want to create them from scratch.
After saving the revised menu in PS, back in Encore, use "Save Menu as File" to save it whereever you want.
The "Save as Template" is only different if you have a motion asset as part of the menu.
Yes, you can simple open an Encore menu in PS by finding them in the Program Files/Adobe/Encore CS6/Library, but you may inadvertently change them. Copy one to a different directory and play there.
The advantage of edit in PS is that Encore will help you avoid changes that will mess Encore up later.

You are probably choosing the obvious file rather than the correct file as the PSE editor. The actual editor is hidden away inside the Support Files folder. The PSE file at the top level of the PSE folder in Applications is just an alias for the welcome screen and what you're describing is exactly what happens when you choose that. You want this one:

No the pages will open as separate documents in Expert Mode. You really need Acrobat or possibly you could copy and paste the contents into MS word. Then re-save as PDF.
