Encore opens instead of Premiere Pro

Hi there.
I'm in a graphic design program and this semester we are expected to use Premiere Pro CS6 throughout various courses and their respective assignments. However, after purchasing the program(s), whenever I've attempted to open Premiere Pro CS6, it opens up Adobe Encore instead - which then proceeds to crash right away. This is increasingly frustrated as many of heavily weighted assignments are going to rely on PP CS6 and time is of the essence. If anyone else has encountered this annoying issue and has found solutions, please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.

Okay so...I usually just select the program off the list of others I have on my Creative Cloud window and they all have worked except PP CS6. I hadn't even considered going through the start menu (face palm). so I just tried via start menu and it opened perfectly and is functioning fine. Thanks very much for opening my eyes, lol.
Although I still do wonder why Encore opens when I click it off the menu and why PP CS6 only gave me problems.

How to enable "Open in Adobe Premiere Pro" function

I'm working with Audition CC 2014 and Premiere Pro 2014. I sent a squence from Premiere to Audition via "Edit in Adobe Audition". But now, when I try to export the track back from Audition to Premiere (Multitrack=>Export to Adobe Preniere Pro..."), in the dialoge box, the function "Open in Adobe Premiere Pro" is disabeled and I can`t mark it to enable the function.

Hmm. That box should only be disabled if Audition doesn't see a registry entry indicating that Premiere Pro is installed. But obviously, you have Premiere Pro installed if you sent a sequence to Audition. My first suggestion would be to do a reinstall of Premiere, but it might be worth finding out if you are running any anti-virus or system monitoring software that might protect or "repair" the Windows registry.

Unable to open media in Premiere Pro CC

One of our users has an issue in Premiere Pro CC when opening SOME media files. The files will open fine in OTHER portions (AE, Media) If she disables the Cloud portion of the software the files open properly in Premiere. Windows 7 Pro, the latest version of CC and Facilis media storage. Any ideas? Here is a screenshot

The problem seems to be that Premiere is not able to detect the codecs in the video. Please try transcoding the video using any application like https://handbrake.fr/ and then import the transcoded footage in Premiere.

Cannot open any projects Premiere Pro CC

Hi,
I am trying to open a project that I created for a corporate client as they need it in a different format.
To my horror it would not open. I tried opening all my other projects and I keep getting the message "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type".
The client is a news website and they are under tight deadlines.
This happened after I was asked to sign in again to my creative cloud account as creative cloud was telling me that I had not purchased any software.
It is such a disappointment.

Audition won't open except through Premiere Pro CS4

So last year my issue was when I got CS4, Premiere Pro wouldn't open unless I had After Effects and Audition 3.01 already open; and then I had to attempt to open Premiere three times -- then it would open. That was the magical solution. I don't know why it worked that way, but that's the way it was.
After years of faithful service, now Audition won't open. On the other hand, Premiere Pro opens the first time without any other Adobe program being open.
My jaw dropped.
Audition will open if I want to edit a sound file from Premiere Pro. I haven't added any new Audition VST goodies lately.
But if I try to open it from the desktop, the error msg reads:
AppName: audition.exe AppVer: 2.0.5306.2 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 6c694620
I tried the Run As solution that was posted here, but no joy.
In fact, I can't even uninstall and reinstall Audition because the process halts with a message that the
components.msi in the Windows folder is missing or bad.
I'm running this on a Sony Viao VGC-RC219G with Windows XP SP3.

I would have liked to uninstall and re-install, but either XP or Audition wouldn't let me.
I kept trying 'Repair' under the Add Or Remove Programs, but consistently there was an error message saying that a file '_1FEE7blahblahblah' in Data1.cab was missing or corrupt. I happen to have another copy of Audition running on my laptop, so I copied the Data1.cab to a thumbdrive and copied it into the Audition folder on my desktop computer.
It finally allowed me to run the repair and everything seems OK.
Even CS4 Premiere Pro has gone back to being broken. . .although I think it's a Quicktime issue.
The fun never stops.

.prproj project will not open in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

When I try to open .prproj file, I get the message "Where is the File <name of file>.mpeg?
1) I have tried manually finding the .mpeg file and double-clicking on it. This displays the error: "File Import Failure 'Unsupported format or damaged file.'"
2) I have also tried selecting the "Skip" and "Skip All" buttons. In this case, Adobe Premiere .prproj opens but none of videos appear. Instead there is a red screen saying "Media Offline"
What is causing these issues? Why am not able to select the unfindable files and, more importantly, why can I not open the .prproj project. ANy insight would be greatly appreciated!

After Effects CS6 cuts a render short when I open an unrelated Premiere Pro file

While in the middle of an AE render, I lunched Premiere and opened an unrelated file to the clip I'm rendering in AE. as son as the project opened, my AE rendered chimed as if finished, but it was actually cut short.
Anyone know what could be causing this?
I'm on a Mac, running Snow Leopard.

Hello,In my CC-app in W8 I do not get any drop down menus for chosing of version as shown in link "Encore CS6 not installed with Creative Cloud"
Only a button to click "install". I have also tried another way described, including clikcing on "more information" and select a link r´there - but same thing - the page does not look like the one in the tutorial.
How should I solve this?

Since PrPro project is an XML file, you can open it up in any script editor (e.g. Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit) or even text editor, in fourth line find Version="25"

and replace it with Version="23".
Although it works just fine most of the time, bear in mind: everything is at your own peril.

Open fcp7 in premiere pro?

Way??? or no way? I've tried and it hasn't worked. But maybe someone knows a way to do it????

Note that it's a pretty good conversion, but not always perfect. Not every effect/transition will carry over. Might want to re-watch the project after it's converted to make sure it looks as expected.
I had an issue when this feature was first introduced (CS4?) back in the mini-DV days where my timecode slipped by a few seconds on clips in my sequence. Likely not an issue by now, but something to watch for.

Problems rendering and exporting from Premiere Pro, Encore CS 6

I am having a problem with Premiere Pro and Encore CS6 . In Premiere Pro, my preview files do not get saved and I need to re-render each time I open the project. When the project opens it shows mainly red bars separated by blank (uncoloured) space. I am currently attempting to re-render this project, and it is stuck at 0.01%. In Encore, when I open my project I get the message The transcoded Dynamic Link asset _______ has changed on the server. Would you like to reimport it? I select yes, but am unable to preview the project, probably because it is unrendered in Premiere. When I attempt to build a DVD the building initiates and then freezes. I have the project set up correctly and no issues come up when i go through 'check project'. I've searched forums for solutions to these problems, but haven't been able to resolve the issues. please help! My computer is an IBM ThinkPad LENOVO W510 with 16GB RAM. Footage is encoded ONCE. Since the "MPEG-2 for DVD" file that you create in AME is DVD-legal, when you import into Encore, you will see next to it "Don't Transcode", it just uses the file as is. The .wav audio will be transcoded to Dolby AC-3 automatically when you build the disc in Encore.
So in AME, for Format, choose "MPEG-2 DVD", then choose a Preset to match your footage type, such as "NTSC Widescreen High Quality". Under VIDEO tab, you can adjust the data rate. For a short program, just choose CBR (Constant Bit Rate) and a setting of 7 or 8. Nothing else to touch in there, just choose a filename and destination and encode. Will create .m2v video and .wav audio clips. In Encore, use Import > As Tineline" and select both clips.
If source project is HD, then at bottom of encoder window, select "Max Render Quality", as this helps with downscaling quality.
If you say what the source sequence settings are I can be more specific on output settings.

Problem opening Premiere Pro project after upgrades to 4.1.0 and Shockwave

I cannot open my project. During this project which has many CS4 AfterEffect pieces and with the Premiere Pro 4.1.0 upgrade and with the installation of the Shockware and updating the Flash Player to 10.0., I am no longer able to open my project!! I have been working on my problem for a many days/weeks - talked to Tech Spt twice - and followed instructions - the KB408983 - and when they told me to uninstall my QuickTime and install the new Quicktime, this caused other problems later with Aftereffects for some reason...recreated the Plug-ins, but nothing worked - maybe all this created more problems. When I finally found files in the AutoSave folders, they all opened last week but now, they are in the same situation - cannot open any of them now!!! I finally found one file in the TEMP folder and was able to open it and tested each file which I had imported initially - then found one file that may have corrupted during this Update procedures - so I removed it and inserted another AAE file - but now, none will work after I initiated the KB408983 steps!!! So now, I no longer have any files that I can open.
Problem: Premiere Pro opens my project - goes thru the process of loading but gets stuck about 3/4 length - it will sit there forever, without any error message!!! I left it for 2 1/2 hours and it just hung in there. So, I believe now that with all these updates and changes to the Adobe products, I may have corrupted some of the AfterEffects files or maybe other files? I have worked extensively on this project and need desparately to open it so I can finish it!!
Last month, I had similar problems and Tech Spt asked me to uninstall CS4 Premium Production software and reinstall it. During the uninstall process, it wiped out my CD Rom driver so I was unable to Re-install my CS4 software - finally found out how to fix the CD Rom corruption in my Register and was able to reload and it worked at that time but now, I cannot open it. So, all this has been a nightmare.....!!

It sounds like your app isn't activated anymore. When it's in that state, the MPEG codec options aren't available, and unfortunately the RED presets
use the MPEG codec for preview rendering (at least on HD sized presets). So the upshot is that when the MPEG codec isn't available, the RED presets
fail to load.
Reactivating your serial number should fix the problem. Or if it doesn't, you'll need to sort out with tech support why your MPEG isn't coming back online. (You're probably looking at more reinstallation fun unfortunately )

Opening old Premiere Projects in Premiere Pro CS5

I have some old video projects which I've saved to disk with the idea that I could go back and edit them later. I just tried to open one of these old projects in Premiere Pro CS5 and it doesn't recognize the old Premiere Pro project. PP CS5 projects now end with *.prel or *.prproj. My old projects (some done in Premiere 6, some in PP CS) ended with *.ppj. I opened the *.ppj file properties and tried changing them from "Opens with Adobe Premiere Pro CS" to "Opens with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5", but it looks like the file suffix remains *.ppj and PP CS5 still doesn't recognize it.
Is there a way I can convert my old PP projects to PP CS5 so they can be opened/edited in my current software?

Per my earlier post, if you change that from All Supported Media to All Files, can you Import?
[Edit] I see that All Files did work, and that you are up and editing! That is great news.
As mentioned, the only issue that I had was with a very few 3rd party Transitions, and PrPro was nice enough to tell me exactly where these were used, and what their names were. I just wrote down those TimeCodes, added Cross-Dissolves to replace whatever the previous editor had used, and was up and editing.
Now, I did have to go through the "Where is file ____?" process, as the previous editor had drawn Assest from ALL over an external HDD, with no folder structures, or anything useful - what a kludge! I organized all of the Assets (many thousands) into logical order, and once I had re-established the links, all went beautifully.

PS - the reason that I asked about platforms is that Pr was X-platofrm, but then with PrPro, through version 2.0, it was PC-only. It was not until CS3, that it went back X-platform. This created a little problem for Mac users, with newer PrPro versions, but older PC Projects. We get about 1 of these issues per year, and the answer is for the Mac user to befriend a PC-person, with the right version of PrPro, do that Import step, then Save_As, and hand off the now, X-platform version of the PRPROJ. Hey, it fosters "hands across the aisle," and we've found several PC-users, with the right versions around here, who have done that conversion, out of the kindness of their hearts. That had zero to do with your Project, but wanted you to know why I asked.
