Encore problems

What a great program that I can't seem to make operate ...
Been working with this for days, have a really nice project with 4 video clips and 5 slideshows.  Worked through several vobulator errors where my slideshows were too short and the audio extended past the video.  Then it printed one DVD, yet now contiually erros out with no erro message other than Encoding Failed.   That's it.
Ran through all the checklist - all good with the links, etc. And even the DVD that did print constantly freezes and jams up causing the player to even shut down. Played great once the first time around, then slowly deteirated.
Also, from reinstalling over the last several days, I've needed to reinstall the content library and it's not extracting or installing correctly - keeps saying Use Adobe Setup.exe once finished unzipping and when I go to to do that, a message pops up SETUP or INSTALL program filename contains folder information.  Use Actions/CheckOut instead which I can't locate anywhere in the downloaded files or comprehend the help file attached.....  I believe I need to use another program like Nero.  Any suggestions?
Don
BTW, my machine is quad AMD 3.2 Ghz, 8GB RAM, plenty of hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce 9500T video card, Windows VISTA 64

Did you convert the interlaced video to progressive somewhere?
Do you have frame rate conversions or speed changes with frame blending?
Did you accidentally invert the field order somewhere along the way?
If the answer to all those questions is, "No", then I'm out of ideas.

  • BIG Encore problem - Interactive dvd based on menus - blurry menus

Hi, I am making a DVD based on clickable menus. The idea is to create a DVD portfolio, where the user can click through different screens, a lot of them with images, some only videos. I am creating the menus in photoshop - using rather small text. When the menus are imported to Encore, they look ok in the editing mode, but in the preview, the text gets blurry and unreadable - this also happens to some extent with the bigger text, edges also get very pixeled. The format I am working with is 1280 x 720, 72dpi (but i guess the dpi doesn't matter when it's video), RGB color, PAL widescreen square pixel... I have tried a lot of different formats, both bigger and smaller, but it doesn't get better. I have tried to do this in so many different ways now, but simply cannot find a solution - which seems strange to me, as I have seen DVD menus before with small type, without it being blurry (for example describing different episodes of a TV show) - Is there another program that would be better for this project, as I am also worried that the images will be very pixelated... I also tried to export the project, but it is still blurry. Another problem I have, is that the highlights of text buttons appear a few pixels left of the original button - I used the correct layer names, and only text in one color. the highlight is white. I hope someone can help me with this!

    Welcome to the forum.
Why are you starting with 1280x720 PS files when you are trying to create a 720x576 PAL SD DVD?  The downscaling alone would account for your quality loss.

  • CS5 PPro encoder/encore problems

I upgrading to CS5 from CS4 and I was really happy with my purchase until I tried to export a project file tthrough the media encoder.  It worked fine but when it finished PPro was unresponsive and finally come around after flashing back to the desktop a few times.  Next I went into Encore and built a menu like I always do and started the burn.  I got about 95% there when it aborted and said I had a hardware error sense code 40901.  I tried this numerous times to no avail.  I had no problem burning on 4.2.1.
I spend two 8 hour days with Adobe support thinking that there is something wrong with either the media encoder or encore in CS5.  There was no resolution.  Funny thing is that I can burn a DVD image through encore (that will burn on my roxio easy dvd software on the same computer) and oddly I can burn to disc immediately there after.  But I can't export and then set up a DVD burn the way I have done forever without getting a hardward issue.  The good news is that I do have a work around, but I shouldn't have to have one.  Any ideas?  Thanks.  Core I7, 12 gigs ram, ati radeon 4850, DVD/blueray burner, HP m9600t

  • Premiere to Encore problems...any advice?

I'm about to rip my hair out so somebody please help me with this! I am new to using Encore, and am in desperate need of some guidance. Have looked on plenty of other forums and found no anwers. So here it is:
I have edited a HD sequence in Premiere, frame rate 29.97, it looks great. Then I send it to Encore through Dynamic link. All is well except when there is motion like a golf swing see below.. I've tried different export methods like P2 movie and Mpeg2 but i get the same problem. I've also tried different codecs and quality settings. Is this a interlacing problem? codec? frame rate? field order? bitrate? Is it something insanely simple that I am missing? ANY advice would be incredibly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Encore Problem: 'Device Not Ready' when burning to BluRay

Hi Im using Encore cs6 to burn to BluRay.  The programme runs for about 20 mins or so then suddenly stops and the message 'device not ready' comes up.
I downloaded and tried ImgBurn to make sure my BluRay drive was working properly and it had no problems, the problem is just with Encore.  I saved my Encore project as an image in order to burn with Imgburn but it did not take across the menu I had designed.
Im under a deadline to get this dvd finished, does anyone have any ideas?
Im using an Alienware computer on Windows 8.
    thanks!
    Tony

I don't recall this occurring with imgBurn or Encore doing the burning. I can only imagine that your project is corrupt.
I would create a new, test project, to see if the menus "behave."
Create a new Encore project, new name, in the new project settings make it Bluray.
Add menus from the library: Crib Menu HD and City Lights HD. On Crib, in properties, motion tab, click on the video option and hit delete (this will remove the motion from the menu).
On that same menu, delete the bottom two buttons. On the city lights menu, delete all buttons but the top.
Select the m2v file (from the Crib motion menu) and select new timeline. Select that timeline and set the end action as "Last menu."
On the Crib menu, link the top button to the City menu. Link the second button to the timeline.
On the city menu, link the button to the Crib menu.
Build to a BD image. Burn with ImgBurn. Are the menus the same?

  • Blu-ray Encore problem

When i go to burn a blu-ray disc, Encore does all the necessary things as encode, render etc and then states that is is burning the disc but the time it takes to burn the disc is almost instant and as you can guess it has not actually burnt the disc although Encore thinks it has. Does any one have any suggestions on that might be the problem?
I have tried doing an ISO image and burning from there but i still get the same issues. I have tried other progammmes to burn an disc and this works so the Blu-ray burner (LG GGW H20L)is certainly working. I did a reinstall of Encore but still no luck. (I did previously manage to burn Blu-ray discs successfully using this burner si I can't understand what is wrong)

I have had the same problem occasionally, and it usually comes after I've done a change or two of assets, or menus. The only way I could get it to work was to carefully completely rebuild the project.
    Have you rebuilt the project?
I never have used the Encore burning to disk part (I always have burned a SD folder and burned the disk using Nero and more recently ImgBurn, so I've carried that over to BluRay, burning a BluRay folder)
Since I've usually had short projects, I usually burn the BluRay folder to a DVD. I see you already burned an Image which works as well when ImgBurn does it.
Sorry, but rebuild is all I can suggest.

Was soll das ??

  • Encore problem during installation of CS4

    Hello there,
We're having problems installing the full CS4 package onto a medical photography PC. New workstations have been bought and the whole app goes on without any problems but on trying to install on one of the older machines we the following errors..
The machine is XP SP3, with CS3 on previously.
Any ideas would be much appreciated!

These are very general suggestions and may play no role in your particular instance. This assumes that you are also installing from the DVD and not from the downloaded version, as there are a few other considerations there:
1.) turn off all anti-virus, pop-up blockers and spyware sweepers first.
2.) install under a full administrator account, not anything else.
3.) install onto the machine's C:\ and not to another HDD, or to a networked drive.
4.) once installed, run as a full administrator
I hope that something there helps you. Please report back, as others will likely have other ideas for you.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Encore Problem from PP - Build, Change and Re-Build

I have a Premiere Pro project with one sequence.  The name of the sequence happens to be the name of the project -  I hope that's not confusion Adobe - however, this is what I've done . . .
I created the Encore file from within Premiere Pro using Dynamic Link.  I built the project in Encore to a DVD.
Then I made some changes to clips in Premiere, and sure enough, I can see the changes in Encore.
However, when I go to build another DVD - I expect to see the changes I made - Encore does not transcode anything, but simply starts to write to the DVD.  The result is the same as the first time I built the DVD - it does not have the changes I made in Premiere Pro.
I assume there are redenered files - somewhere - that Encore is using to write to the DVD - that is, it's too dumb to realize it needs to re-transcode the project because it changed.
And I assume this is a bug that no doubt someone (like Adobe) knows about.
Any work arounds?  If I find these rendered files and delete them, Encore will have no choice but to re-render the project and include my lastest changes.  Seems like a real pain. . .
    Any of this make sense?
I am runnning an INTEL i7 on Windows 7; 64 bit.
    Scott

I'm not sure if that's a bug, or by design, but all you'd really need ot do is right-click your Dynamic Linked PPro sequence in the Encore bin and select "Revert to Original". That will cause Encore to abandon the transcoded M2V file, and point back to the original (and now altered) PPro sequence.

  • Adobe Encore probleme exportation DVD

    Bonjour

  • Encore CS4 Start-Up Problem

    Hi,
When I try to open Encore CS4, either by creating a brand new project, or by using dynamic linking to bring in a short sequence from Primiere Pro, I get about 80% through the progress bar labeled "preparing transcoder settings" when I get the following error messasge, and the application crashes:
    Adobe Encore Debug Event
Adobe Encore has encountered an error:
    [..\..\src\AMEPresetProber.cpp - 258]
As best I can make out from the crash report, Encore is trying to run dvacore.dll when the crash occurs, although I'm not absolutely positive about this (I'm basing this on the program counter address where the exception_breakpoint occurs ; this address fell within the range populated by dvacore.dll if I am reading the crash file properly).
I'm assuming the error message is telling me that a routine in the C++ source file AMEPresetProber.cpp was running at the time of failure.  I'm further assuming from the name of the file that Encore was looking through a list of Adobe Media Encoder presets when the problem occurred.  But of course, without access to the source code, there is no way to see what the program was doing, or what error code 258 means.
If anyone has seen this problem, and has a suggestion on how to fix it, I would appreciate your input.
As an FYI, I did carefully read a long thread about Encore CS4 crashes, and tried several of the fixes there -- Updating my nvidia card drivers, installing the "roxio" px patch, updating QuickTime, and erasing Encore's preference files.  I also checked Adobe's web site to see if there were any updates for Encore CS4 (I am running 4.0.1.048), but when I tried installing the only update available, I was told that it was older than the version I currently had loaded.  At this point, short of reloading the entire CS4 suite, I'm out of ideas of what to try next.
I'm also wondering if there is something I could change with Media Encoder's settings that might help, since the problem seems to occur when Encore is looking over AME's presets.
Thanks in advance for your input.

    P.S.  I'm running Vista Ultimate, service pack 2 on a dual-core 2.4G 6600 machine with 3GB of RAM.

    Hi Stan,
    Thanks for responding.
Truth be told, I got so focused on the Encore problem, it didn't occur to me to see whether Media Encoder was still functioning properly on my machine.
At any rate, I did byte the bullet, and re-install Encore, and the problem in question went away.  Interestingly enough, when you opt to re-install Encore, CS4 automatically re-installs Media Encoder as well, so I guess the two programs are pretty tightly joined at the hip.  Not surprising, perhaps, since I suspect that Encore is in some ways just a special case of Media Encoder, at least as far as the transcoding is concerned.
Of course, once I got Encore up and running, I tried to bring over a very, very small sequence from Premiere Pro and build it, and Encore crashed again (In PproHeadless.exe call to  ImageRender.dll).  Frustrating, since as a newbie all I'm trying to do is understand how the sequence settings I'm using in Premiere translate into final DVD output.  The project I am working on involves a mixture of still images and short video clips culled from many sources in many formats, and my first renders in Premiere yielded lots of letterboxing (I'm learning the hard way about pixel aspect ratios and the like).  As such, I figured before I built too many sequeneces, I should find a set of settings and work procedures that yield good results.
I used dynamic linking to bring over my sequence from Premiere, and I'm thinking that perhaps having both Encore and Premiere open at the same time requires too many resources on my limited system.  Time to go figure out other options for moving sequences from Premiere over to Encore to see if that is in fact the issue.

  • Encore CS5 Blu-ray Track Problems

I've burned my Encore CS5 project to Blu-ray several times now. It chiefly consists of a Main Menu, a Scenes Menu, and a single timeline containing around 41 tracks (only one soundtrack). When I preview the Blu-ray version within Encore, it works perfectly. Not so with the burned version.
When I play the finished Blu-ray disc in each of my two Blu-ray players (completely different brands) and move from track to track, I can't jump from track 28 to 29. In fact, when Chapter 28 finishes playing, it bumps me back to the Main Menu. The only way I can continue playing the disc is to manually go to the Scenes Menu and start playing from chapter 29 (which, of course, won't let me jump back to chapter 28). It's as if Encore has split my single timeline into two different timelines.
Furthermore, when I start playing from a chapter within the Scenes Menu, then press the Menu button on my remote, it takes me back to the Main Menu even though End Action is set to return to the last menu.
I know I haven't done anything wrong because if I burn this exact same project onto a standard DVD, it works exactly the way it's supposed to!
Is this some sort of Encore bug? Or is it a limitation of the Blu-ray standard (which I thought maxed out at 90-something tracks, not 28).
Can anyone offer some insight here? If it's an Encore problem, any suggestions on how to get around it without having to wait for an Encore patch (I'm fully up-to-date on my versions)?
    Thanks!!

As a follow up, I tried knocking down the number of chapters by 1/3 so there would be a total of 28 chapters instead of 41. As it turns out, the disc is still exiting the timeline and returning to the main menu at exactly the same point (which happens to be one second into a particular chapter of the timeline, just shy of 90 minutes into the timeline). It's as if Encore has split my single timeline into two timelines.
If it's of any help understanding what's happening, the entire timeline is 02;05;23;21 long. When Encore creates the Blu-ray disc, playback of the timeline ends at approximately 01;26;43;10. I then have to go to my Scenes menu and pick up where I left off as it's the only way to see the last ~39 minutes of the sequence.
As I mentioned, if I burn this as a standard definition (4.7GB) disc, it plays normally with no breaks. It's only if I burn it to a 25GB single-layer Blu-ray disc that I see the problem (using multiple Blu-ray players).
Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on this problem.

  • To givingupusa - a simple Encore Tutorial

To givingupusa - a simple Encore Tutorial
I have CS5, so you need to go slowly to be sure you find the correct commands for your
version of Premiere Pro and Encore
This is for DVD only, since I don't do BluRay
Verify these steps with the book or PDF or help file!
Go past this tutorial exercise for links to online Tutorials
Even if you have a later version, this is a good book to learn Encore
    http://www.amazon.com/Focal-Easy-Guide-Adobe-Encore/dp/0240520041/ref=sr_1_1?
This note is written specifically for "givingupusa" who can't get Dynamic Link to
    ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1277266925
work... but, of course, anyone who is learning may find this to be helpful
Do your editing in Premiere Pro... do NOT use Dynamic Link (this exercise is to be sure
that you may create a file that Encore will use, and that Encore will, in fact, open
properly and actually use that file)
If you are editing HD, read this
Tutorial HD to SD w/CS4 http://bellunevideo.com/tutorials/CS4_HD2SD/CS4_HD2SD.html
This is just a test, so you don't need anything fancy or long in Premiere... a file (or
two?) totalling 10 minutes to as much as half an hour is all you need (keep this test
short, so you find out "quickly" if things work, or not)
When you are done editing, make sure you have selected to export the entire timeline,
then export to either DV NTSC (or Pal) Widescreen or DV NTSC (or Pal) if you are
    editing 4:3 video
File-Export-Media... then, on the lower left, select Source Range of Entire Sequence
Upper right select Format Microsoft AVI then just below that Preset select NTSC DV
Widescreen (or PAL DV Widescreen) for widescreen material (if you have been editing
HiDef source) or NTSC DV (or PAL DV) if you have been editing SD material that is in
    the 4:3 pixel ratio
Output Name will show a default of Sequence 01.avi which you double click to change to
a file name (and location) of your choice
Export Video and Export Audio are both checked by default... do not change that
Make NOTE of what it says after Output and Source... for this test, going from HD Flip
    to DV AVI, mine says
    Output 720x480, 29.97 [fps], Lower, Quality 100 - 48000 Hz, Stereo, 16 bit
Bottom right click Export... a window will pop up with a title of "Encoding Sequence
01" with a progress bar in the window... exit from Premiere when done
The result will be a FileName.AVI file (of course, FileName is YOUR actual file name
that you selected) which has video and sound all in one file
Find the Encore program icon that was created when you installed Premiere Pro and
Encore... double click the icon to start Encore... or, if you can't find a program
icon, click START - All Programs and then find Encore in the appropriate Adobe program
    group
When Encore starts, select New Project and give it a name and location, and be sure the
    DVD option is checked
Make NOTE of the Transcode Settings on this New Project Screen (NOTE that if you exit
from this project and come back to it later, you would select the project name you just
    created, instead of New Project)
If your AVI file is large enough that you are going to do a dual layer DVD, Right Click
the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator (or you WILL have an Encore error!)
Make sure you are in the PROJECT panel (look on the upper left) and then File — Import
As - Timeline, and select your AVI File
In the lower right Library panel, use the Set: General, and Drag an appropriate Blank
Menu or Blank Menu WIDE to the Project Panel
In the Project panel Right Click the Menu and set as First Play
In the Flowchart panel in the center of the screen, Drag the AVI and drop it on the
    Menu
While in the Properties panel on the upper right, click the AVI file once to set the
focus, then set AVI End Action to Return to Last Menu
Back in the center, with the menu selected, you will a wide button with text (mine
always defaults to Party Highlight 1 for some reason) which is the link from the menu
    to play the video
Right Click and Rename (if you wish, figure out on your own how to move this command
    button to a different location)
On the top left, select the Build panel
Click the Check Project and then Start in the popup window, and NOTE and fix any errors
3 main Output options are DVD Disc (to go direct to a DVD) or DVD Folder to create the
DVD file structure on your hard disk or DVD Image to create an ISO for later burning to
    a DVD
I normally build an ISO and use the FREE Imgburn http://www.imgburn.com/index.php? to have more control over the burning settings (burn at the slowest speed
    act=download
possible for a better burn) use Verbatim or Tayio Yuden discs (Change the ISO’s Name
    via the Browse function)
For this test, I will use DVD Folder and create the DVD folder on my hard drive so I
may then play the DVD from that folder without burning a disc... only do this if you
have a DVD player installed... otherwise, burn to DVD to test at a TV
Even Empty the DVD-ROM says it uses 526k – for the "usual" overhead
Last step is to actually build the ISO File or Folder... I used H: for the folder (you
will, of course, use a drive letter appropriate to your computer setup)
After Encore finished, I used WinExplorer to find the VIDEO_TS folder, which (for my
    short test) contained
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
When I double clicked on VIDEO_TS.VOB my DVD player was activated, and the menu came up
on screen, where I could click the name I gave my movie... and the movie began to play
If you do not have this result... report back with all the NOTES you made and with any
    error messages
If you are able to create a DVD this way... give up on Dynamic Link and use this
    process

  • Please help -- Encore CS3 crashes often on a new PC

Read below the typical problem report from Vista problem history -- it's French to me. The whole report would not fit here. Have had numerous crashes in Encore, and few times in Bridge, Premiere and After Effects. The programs just "stopped working" at a specific point without an explanation. Eventually I would work around it by clearing from the project the media file I was working on and re-importing it. Yesterday, I uninstalled and re-installed Encore to no benefit.
I am on a new PC less than 2 months old, so I can't tell if it's the problem. Most of my problems involve CS3 applications, but this computer has been pretty shaky since I got it. Performance seems slow for such a stacked computer, HP Pavilion d5000t Intel core 2 quad 2.66 with 8 GB RAM Vista Ultimate 64-bit, 1 TB SATA RAID O. Not quite a workstation, but I shouldn't be having slow performance working with MiniDV not HD video.
Please direct me to some kind of troubleshooting plan. I was having problems with an external SATA Buffalo drive with USB 2 and Firewire 800. Now I'm doing everything and storing everything on the 1 TB main system drive.

My wife has a "consumer" HP that had, as I remember, a lot of CRAP in the startup that was pre-installed by HP
You might want to check was is loading with Windoze... and us MSCONFIG to halt those things that you don't really need

  • I think I need to re install Encore off my discs. When I ask Premier Pro CS5 to send my project to Encore, Encore opens but does not receive my movie sequence. How do I re install Encore only without upsetting my movie?

Hello. I have the Premier Pro CS5 suite on Windows. Can you advise me how to re install Encore off my discs without affecting any of my movie in Premier Pro please?
I ask Pro to send the movie sequence through Dynamic Link into Encore so that I can burn the sequence to a disc.
Encore does open but the sequence does not arrive from Pro.
Last night the sequence did arrive into Encore but took forever to transcribe and I eventually cancelled the process as it appeared to get stuck and did not quite get to writing to disc.
This morning the sequence does not even arrive into Encore.
Very frustrating when I have a 4hr movie that I want to write to Bluray so I have now created 4 separate sequences and want to try writing them onto DVD in 1hr chapters.
Hope someone can help me with this. Cheers. Janice

Hello Ann. Thank you for your help. I have re installed EN and I have now
sent parts of my movie to AME. I have then tried several different methods
of getting the encoded clips into Encore successfully. Once in the Project
panel and the Timeline, the movie does not show up in the Monitor panel
above, so I have proceeded to build and write to a disc. I've tried a
number of options but always end up with EN 'not responding' and having to
    close the program down.
Something else is that I do get a message whilst in Premiere Pro that there
is an update available for AME, however, when I look online I do not see an
update for CS5, although there are 2 updates for CS6. Can you suggest what
I could do please? The Encore problem is the one that concerns me the most
as I am not able to record my movie.
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Kind regards.
    Janice
