Encore randomly switch 16:9 to 4:3!!

So far this morning I have wasted 3 hours of valuable time and about 10 DVD because I thought I was doing something wrong while encoding my files, only to realise that Encore randomly decides to burn 16:9 footage in 4:3 format!!!
From Premiere I export as NTSC DV widescreen 29.97 format.
in Encore I tried 2 different approach, the first one is to import my footage as "timeline" which created my timeline automatically, and since that didn't work, I tried by importing my footage, then creating a timeline @ 16:9 ratio..
on both ocassion I got some that worked, and others that were converted to 4:3 format.. and I did do a preview of DVD before printing it and it was all good... it's only after finishing printing that the project suddenly was in 4:3...
Come on adobe!!! these type of issues shouldn't be happening, since DVD burning is not a new thing!!!

Hello to you all.. thanks for replying... you were all right in your comments... When I export my timeline, I need to send the clip to mutlple persons for approbation and ultimately youtube... SO ... to avoid mutltiple export, I export it to the SD Youtube Widescreen setting... which though was going to be OK (but it's progressive and square pixels, which is where I think it confuses Encore) ... The first time I import it into encore, it shows it OK as it hasn't been re-encoded by Encore... It's in the re-encoding process that it flips it back to 4:3 ... @Jim Simon.. how I determing 4:3 over 16:9 ... well... it's was pretty obvious to me when I export as widescreen.. setup my timeline as 16:9 and end up with a 4:3, almost square image!, and the sides are chopped up...I fixed the problem by exporting to MPEG2 DVD setting @ NTSC Widescreen... then I get the correct result since Encore doesn't need to re-encode the file..
So leaving it on AUTOMATIC. doesn't automatically detects the right format.. I would probably have to force it to be widescreen... this might be a test I'll do later on and re-post...
thanks all for your help...
Hiya.
Are you making a DVD or an online film?
If a DVD, use the DVD settings - Automatic will work as long as you
A - interpret the footage correctly, and
B - export it correctly from Premiere (not with Square Pixels!!)

My 5S just started doing this on Thursday: every fraction of a second or so it oscillates between connecting and disconnecting with the charger (USB or wall, doesn't matter). Since it's still under the limited warrantee, I took it to the local Mac dealer (I live in a small town w/out an Apple store) and they shipped it off. I'm waiting now for the replacement--telephonless, too!
What concerns me is that many people seem to be having this issue.
You were right to be suspicious of the Apple store employees. Once they replicated the behavior that you experienced, they should have immediatly offered to exchange your phone. Anything else, in my opinion, is unacceptable. As long as your phone is still doing it, I'd go back, ask for the manager and tell them to exchange your phone.

  • Why does my iMessage and FaceTime randomly switch off?

It seems that my iPhone 4 has decided that it wants to randomly switch of iMessage and Factime at random points during the day. This has only happened since the os 5.0.1 upgrade! I have not reset it because i have heard that this does not work! I have tried just using my phone number, then just my apple id account, then both together on the settings for both, but it is still randomly switching off.
Does anyone have a solution/fix to this problem?????

Has this solved the issue with you (if you have had the issue)? I have seen numerous people say taht resetting the phone does not help at all, that it just goes back to doing it after a while.
I just wish someone at Apple would acknowledge it as everyone i have spoken to that has an iPhone has this issue.
I've never heard of anyone having this issue before so I can't say whether or not resetting it will help. However, it's a simple, painless, less than 5 minute procedure so why wouldn't you try?
I don't know what Apple has to acknowledge as it doesn't seem to be a particularly common problem. Yours is the first post I've seen on the issue.

  • HELP! Firefox keeps randomly switching windows.

Every time I open a new window link from a current window, the new window will pop up like normal.
But after I click on anything inside the new window, Firefox randomly switches to the previous window and I have to reclick the new window to get it back.
How do I fix this? I don't want it to keep switching back to the old window when I've already opened a new one.
I'm using the latest Firefox build 23.0.1, fresh install with Windows 7 64 bit.

Sounds like a bug in the Flash Player plugin's Protected Mode. Check out the following thread for a further description and known workarounds: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/955659 Opening New Windows and Shockwave Flash].

  • Portege M400 randomly switching off and restarting

    Hi,
I wondered if any one has any suggestions on what's wrong with my laptop? Two days ago it started randomly switching off and restarting. I've checked the following:
    - Run Panda Security online check for viruses etc - all ok.
    - Checked the system logs but all it records is a 'windows stopped unexpectedly' error.
    - Suspecting an overheating problem I took it to pieces, cleaned all the dust from the fan and heat exchanger. Also cleaned all the old thermal compound off the CPU and replaced with new. It is now running much cooler but still randomly shutting down.
    - Run a Suse Linux Live DVD to check it's definitely not an OS problem and it still shuts down.
I'm guessing something is shorting out on the motherboard as it will run ok if it's on a flat surface and not moved and I don't press down too hard whilst typing etc. Though it's a bit hit and miss. Has anyone had this problem before and is there any thing else I could try? Also any ideas on how much a new motherboard is? I'm expecting probably expensive :( Unless there's any kind of fix I can do myself? I'm pretty technically minded and don't have a problem with taking it to bits just don't know much about electronics, engines are more my thing :D
    TIA, Firedrake
Ps Laptop model number is PPM40E running Vista Business.

Had a chat with a mate of mine and took it to bits again and have noticed that the heatsink that connects the CPU to the heat exchanger and fan isn't very well clamped even though the three screws are tight. It can be wiggled from side to side is this normal? Every CPU heatsink I've seen on desktops is very firmly clamped down and can't move at all. I'd have expect this to be the same on a laptop.
I've adjusted the clamp a bit and it's better then it was but still moves slightly. Now when it switches off the fan goes full blast and the DC IN LED is flashing orange but it doesn't reboot. According to the manual this is an overheating power down so I'm back to thinking it's an overheating CPU problem rather then the motherboard.
Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it? In the mean time I've ordered another heatsink to see if that solves it.
    Cheers, Firedrake

  • Laptop randomly switches off when on battery power.

When on battery power my HP DV3500EA laptop randomly switches off (this is only a recent problem). This is when there is still significant charge on the battery. This does not happen when on AC power. Once it has switched off, the laptop is able to be switched back on again and run normally until the next time it switches itself off. It doesn't shut down, it just turns off immediately as if the battery has run out. I have checked that it is not overheating - the CPU temp is generally between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius. I know this isn't a software problem because it does this on different operating systems (Windows Vista and Ubuntu Linux). I assume this means it must be a hardware problem, but I can't work out what it is or how to fix it.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

Exact same problem with my Envy 13 running with windows 7... any solution besides bringing the laptop back to the store?

  • Sound randomly switches from headphones to speakers

    Hi,
I have a rather strange problem. This morning I turned on my Macbook, and the sound was doing something weird. It keeps switching between headphones and speakers, as if I'm plugging and unplugging them. Of course I have nothing plugged in, so the sound keeps cutting out and then coming back on. It switches about every two seconds, although rather sporadically. I tried to actually plug in some headphones, and this made the sound come out of the speakers rather than the headphones, and would only switch back and forth on its own once or twice a minute. After trying to restart twice, it just stopped doing this in the middle of me typing this message, and is now working fine. I had this happen once a while ago, but it stopped much faster last time, so I just didn't think of it. It isn't doing it now, but I'm worried it'll start again, and if it does, I can't very well use my computer, because it keeps doing that little click it does when switching, and I obviously can't use sound. It also makes the computer run slower in general when it does this, because it keeps switching the volume from what it was in headphone mode and in speaker mode. Does anyone know what causes this? I would love to avoid having this occur again...
    Thank you very much!
    Alex

Ditto here on sound on and off, with a slight variation from those described above -- and, possibly, a major pre-existing condition in development.
First, the possibly overarching issue: A few days ago, after air travel and all that entails, I was not able to boot up in the usual manner in an airport along the way. Once arrived at my destination I again kept getting the dread, small question mark midscreen beside a tiny version of the blue and white head profiles connected with the Mac logo. So I rebooted holding down Apple-C. After the screen scrolled through a few black and white screens of technical data in true PC nerd form, the machine did initiate the usual start-up screens. I logged in and was able to manipulate all programs. On the following day, I had the same problem turning on the machine. I have not dared turn it off since then.
New Issue: Intermittent Sound. I opened Safari and iTunes today. The audio cuts out after a few seconds, but I can regain it by tapping into the internet streaming with the headphone jack. Then the audio through the headphones cuts off. When I pull out the headphone jack, I hear the speakers normally again. Then they go silent and I switch back to the headphones. This also happens when I am not on the internet but merely playing music files in my iTunes library. If I leave the machine to go to another room for a while, I sometimes hear the sound coming back randomly for short periods. All audio preferences have been checked out, and the First Aid utility verifies that the HD is OK. (The current HD was replaced six months ago, when I also got an external HD for backups.)
After the move to a new geographical area I am, of course, in the hands of a different cable provider -- in case that means anything. A second Mac, an iBook, which also made the trip, is working just fine beside this old machine. So is the motherboard (5 yrs old) beginning to die? Or is there a software fix?
Yes, I am currently backing up files to the external hard drive.
Many thanks, if you can offer a diagnosis. --JJ

  • My pictures in my slides are randomly switching

I have a heavy keynote file where my little pictures (<15ko) are now randomly being switched between them... what is happening... I use keynote since 2008 and it's happening since i have updated with the last version...
    what is the problem????
    Thank you a lot
    Cheers!
    JM D.

It was just all of a sudden, my iPhoto was updated to 08, then I lost all my pictures.  My husband managed to find them (but everything was now mixed up and my folders and albums, gone!)
Sorry but this is not clear
iPhoto '08 is over 4 years old and there have been no updates to it for about 3 years
It sounds like for some reason your husband imported the wrong photos into a new version of iPhoto - but how it ahopened or why is not at all clear
Note that the iPhoto library is a SQLite database and must always be treated as a single entity - you can not work with pieces of it

  • Running with iphone and it randomly switches songs

When running, the ipod on my iphone makes a weird chimes and changes songs. It is not the same amount of time with each time it switches. Very random.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
I don't even know for sure if it is the 3.0 Not sure how to tell. I have had it for over a year though.

This is the 'shake to shuffle' feature introduced in the 3.0 software update - it's designed to let you shake your phone to shuffle songs.
Use Settings -> iPod -> Shake To Shuffle to turn it off.

  • Laptop randomly switching over to f4 key, monitor switching, auto selects one and locks me out.

for the past month or so now, my pavilion dv6 special edition notebook has been acting up. itll randomly pop the switch monitor deal onto the screen, automatically pick a monitor option, and then lock me out. This is annoying as it happens multiple times an hour. Sometimes right after each other. I dont know if it is a keyboard issue since sometimes it will keep putting in "g" 's in places and sometimes the back space doesnt work. Sometimes itll keep putting in the same key over and over and over again without me even touching the keyboard and it wont stop until i hit the key that is being put it.
This is just frustrating since ive only had laptop for 8 months and have formated everything hoping that the problem would stop.
    Any suggestions?

  • IPhone randomly switched time zones 3 hours ahead

the other night my phone read 3:21 at 12:21 am EDT it switched randomly and I had to manually reselect my location to reset it. Anyone else out there see this?

I have now experienced a similar behavior.  Twice when I pressed the wake sleep button to wake my iPhone it has displayed different times.  It flashes between 3 different times continuously for the few seconds before the phone goes back to sleep if you don't slide the slider.  I found that it will stop on a time but not usually the correct version.  And if I don't shut it down and restart it, the battery will deplete quickly and the phone will become very hot.  I don't have any solutions or explanations but would like to know if someone else does.

  • Path option randomly switches to Subtract from path area PS CS4

I'm running Photoshop CS 4 on Windows 7 (64 Bit).
At random times - sometimes more often then others - the path option will switch from Add to path area (what I want) to Subtract from path area.
It just does it on its own, as I think I"d notice if I'd gone up and switched it, and I'm not hitting any keys or anything, since I'm usually busy creating a path when it happens.
    Usually it goes like this:
    I create a path.
I right-click and choose fill path.
It fills the outside of the path (I want to fill the inside).
I get annoyed, hit undo, select the Pen tool (and make sure the path is selected), and go up and switch it back to Add, then fill the path.
I start to create another path - making sure it's still set to add - adjust the path, do a fill, and it fills the outside again.  I look up top, and sure enough, it's switched back to Subtract.
Sometimes it will stay on Add for the creation and filling/stroking/creating selection of several paths and then it'll switch back to Subtract.  Other times it happens immediately.
Is this some sort of known bug?  It's only started relatively recently (after I reinstalled after an upgrade from Vista to 7).
Is there something I'm doing somehow in the process of creating the path?
Other than constantly making sure it's set to Add every time I create a path, is there anything I can do to resolve this?
Sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere; I did a search, but couldn't find anything exactly like the issue I'm having.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi AUDFORD,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue with your iPhone that's causing it to shutdown intermittently. The article linked below has a lot of great suggestions that may resolve the issue and if they don't it can help you setup service for the iPhone.

  • What's wrong with my Macbook? It randomly switches off. Could it be the charger?

Hi..so I've had my macbook pro for almost two years now. No problems with it, but I find that their charger cables or headphones are weird as they always break for me one way or another. My charger started breaking a year ago, still works, just the green wires at the top have come out so I taped it. The charger still works. Anyway..today I was on my macbook, it was charging and it was on about 65%, then when I moved it somehow (I was adjusting it on my legs cause I was sitting down), it switched off. The charging light went off and the charger wouldn't work. After about 10 seconds I could switch my macbook back on. When the home screen came on, my date and time have been reset and I was disconnected from my internet and my background changed. I put everything back to normal and then after unplugging the charger and playing around with it I connected it to my macbook. It worked again. Now the same thing happened again. I somehow moved it and it switched off! What's wrong with it ? Can it be because of the charger or some virus or something? I tried checking the logs and Crash Reporter but nothing came up. Can anyone help? thanks

Let's address the breaking cable issue first.  To unplug any cable, you need to grasp the connector shell, and pull.  It is wrong to simply grab the cable wire, and give it a yank.  For the other issue, try perfoming SMC and PRAM resets.
