Encore repeatedly shutting down while transcoding
i am trying to transcode a 2 hour avi to mpeg for DVD...
since it takes a while (3-4 hours??) i normally set it to transcode
and then come back later to check on it...
but every time i do this...i come back and the program is shut down
automatically (this has happened 7-8 times already)
i do not know why??
any help on this???
i captured video from a DV tape using plextor 100au into pinnacle stuido software. then imported the avi into Primiere, edited, used the default codec to render an edited avi...
i have used this method successfully about 3-5 times in the past
to build a dvd in encore...
for some reason, encore shuts down during the transcoding phase...
i have seen it trasncode to about 60% and then next time i check
the app is shut down.
i dont know why this would happen and why there is no error message
at least.
any advice on how to find out what wrong?
reinstall encore??

Encore 1.5 shuts down when transcoding. Any ideas?
Hi,
When I build a DVD in Encore the program shuts down during transcoding. I get no warning messages, it simply disappears from my screen so that I am back to the desktop. Any ideas?Essexmw wrote:

Hello.
I have an installation of Encore 1.5 with a Matrox Parhelia card (not a 450) and can attest to the fact that this one works.
However, there are possible things that may be causing your troubles, so I would like to know a couple of things please.
1 - Has Encore ever transcoded properly for you?
2 - If yes, then when did this problem start happening? IE have you installed any new software at all or even installed any OS updates recently?
3 - If No to question One, (and this might sound silly, but bear with me) what mouse drivers do you use, and what graphics drivers do you use?
Also, do you ever get any green blobs & blocks in the preview window?
4 - Do you have any of the utilities listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/398769?tstart=0 installed?
5 - (finally) do you have any DivX or XviD codecs installed? These used to cause terrible trouble with Encore.
What I'm trying to work out here is how long this has been happening for, and what happened to trigger this behaviour if it is something new.
I can try to repro any project settings you have with a working 1.5 installation here.
The good news is that it really should be possible to sort this out. It just might take a little time..... -
My iphoto keeps shutting down while I'm typing a caption. Is there a way to stop that?
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
What version of iPhoto?

Potential Args, Computer shutting down while playing a game
I've only had this mac for 5 months, but it keeps shutting down while I'm playing StarCraft II. It should be able to handle the game, but it keeps telling me to restart and I have no idea what the error says or means. I'm not sure what (4 potential args on stack) means. I'm not sure if it is a frame rate issue and how to fix it or change the frame rate if needed. Any help would be much appreciated. The error is below:

Blizzard created the junk, and it's up to them to properly patch it. The list of other well known and respected programs it's incompatible with (LittleSnitch, AppCleaner, FileVault, and PeerGuardian to name a few) doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy.
The page also mentions that your CPU can overheat, for whatever reason, and that means total failure for a laptop or early component damage to a motherboard. Gee, that sounds like something that shouldn't be run on a regular basis. -
Premiere Elements 11 shut down while starting; without error message

Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7 64 bit.
Before a week ago, how long had you been working with Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7 64 bit without problems?
Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on that computer with Premiere Elements 11?
Any new programs, 3rd party plug-ins and codecs, installed?
Where are the Scratch Disks directed and how much free space is at those designated locations? Any pile ups
of preview files in the Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folder or conformed audio files in the Media Cache
Files Folder.

Mac book pro trys to shut down while downloading?
my mac book pro trys to shut down while im downloading for some reason..
Hi Monroeeugene,
I'm not sure if you mean shutting down or going to sleep ... but this article will explain how to change your sleep settings so your downloads don't get interrupted.
Mac Basics: Set your preferences
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2490
Change your Mac's sleep settings
To conserve energy, all Macs have the ability to sleep. When you haven't used your Mac for a set amount of time, it enters a low-power mode until you wake it by pressing the keyboard, trackpad, or moving the mouse. Sleep doesn't turn off your computer; it merely puts it into an inactive state that consumes less power.
Open System Preferences
Choose View > Energy Saver.
Choose the Power Adapter or Battery tab. If you're using a desktop Mac (a Mac mini, iMac, or Mac Pro), the Power Adapter and Battery tabs do not appear.
Move the sliders for both the computer and display to change the times in which they go to sleep.
Select any other options you want, such as sleep and wake.
Hope this helps ...

Repeated shutting-down after PMU reset
Hello-
Very suddenly I am having problems with my 8/2005 g4 iBook. It has started shutting down while in the sleep mode, so I came here to troubleshoot and found instructions to reset the PMU. I did so, but it continues to shut down. Any suggestions before I bring it to an Apple Care site? I also notice that the power cord shows a green light even if I remove the battery during this time (I tried removing the battery & turning on before I tried resetting the PMU). Otherwise, the computer seems to be fine, albeit a little slower than it was a year ago.
Thank you much! That's an odd set of symptoms; and I wonder if the cause was something
else before the PMU reset sequence. You did the PMU with computer off,
as per AppleSupport document #14449 instructions - and it shuts down.
Not sure if something like the PRAM/NVRAM (one or both) could be
corrupted. The resets for these require different procedures. A variety
of things could be the cause of a sudden shutdown, to include some
hardware items in addition to the non-volitile ram, and parameter random
access memory. A sudden shutdown in some different models involved
other factors not reported alot in the iBookG4. The Intel® MacBook uses
a different technology so its sudden shutdown on a few models was CPU
heat buildup in some known examples; when proven to not be lesser causes.
Sudden shutdown symptoms can mimic more common causes of system
failure (bad RAM, improperly seated RAM, improperly seated hard drive,
bad software install, bad battery, bad AC adapter, corrupted PRAM,
corrupted NVRAM) which ALL must be ruled out. Since you have Apple
Care, any hardware component failures would be covered. Did you try
running the Apple Hardware Test from the boot/install DVD? It may not
catch this kind of problem, but you could tell the technician you ran it.
I have not run mine, but hear you boot from the install disc #1 and hold
the Opt key down and then after awhile you'd get a choice of startup items.
Did you upgrade the RAM lately? Some poorer RAM may cause issues;
but usually kernel panic activity is seen with bad RAM in the user slot.
If the strange behavor occurred after a step update from 10.4.7 to 4.8,
some users would try the Combo large update file installed over it all;
being sure to repair disk permissions before & after all software updates.
But the symptoms don't necessarily point that way.
You should try to archive your personal stuff on to some media outside
of the computer's hard drive; in case some tech has to wipe the drive or
do something else to the machine while it is away for repairs. If you have
an external FireWire enclosed drive, you may try making a clone of it all.
One level of troubleshooting may include using Disk Utility's tools on the
boot installer disc and totally wiping/zeroing data/reformatting the HDD.
This is where a bootable clone of your whole hard drive would be handy;
to make a full restoration back to the computer's drive afterward.
Hopefully someone with less drastic (and less wordy) ideas will offer them! -
I have an iMac that I purchased back in 2010 and over the past 9 month or less my computer just started shutting down while someone was in the process or working on it. What could this come from? Is there a simple solutions to this problem?
Which model iMac do you have? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1758 How to identify iMac models
Which OS is currently installed?
Check out KB Articles: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If not of the above works and you have AC, call them. Let them deal w/it. Otherwise, take your iMac down to your local AS or an AASP. Diagnostic testing is FREE!
You can also research for a solution on YouTube's "How To" website and iFixit. -
Photoshop shut down while I drew a picture, now the file is broken and I can´t fix it, photshop won´t open the file and I have tried repearing it with different programs. What should I do? I spent 6 hours on the pic and I dont even have a screenshot or anything.
You don't even say what platform you are on, or any other details that may help others assist you.
If you are on a Mac, try opening your file in GraphicConverter (they have a demo version) if that doesn't open it, nothing will, in my experience.
I assume you have tried Adobe Illustrator already to recover.
You may also have a JPEG of your complete file (flattened) in Bridge Cache.
On the Mac you'd find it in your User ~Library (NOT the Root Library ):
Users > yourname > Library > Caches > Adobe > Bridge CS6 > Cache > 1024 > jpg(fileID)number Filename.psd.jpg
The user ~Library is hidden, but you can make it visible for an moment or two. Ask Apple if you don't know how.
I don't do Windows. -
Premiere Pro and Encore CS6 shutting down.
I recently switched my graphics card from a GTX680 to a GTX780. Everything worked fine until I did that. First I found that I had to add the card to the "approved cards" file for premier and after effects. I did that by simply adding it to the existing list and hitting save. That brought back the CUDA capabilities in those applications.
Premiere was running well but exporting the video ran into some problems. I exported a clip through Media Encoder and it was running great (and fast) until about halfway through and it just shut down Media Encoder with no warning. I tried the same thing exporting straight through Premiere and got the same thing then Premeir shut down. I tried different clips and different formats but got the same results.
When those programs shut down, the rest of the computer runs fine.
Are there steps I missed installing the new card? or do I need to change something in the Bios?
I am running a PC with:
Core i7 3770K (not overclocked)
Asus GeForce GTX780
G-Skill Ram at 32GB running at 1600
The BIOS was just updated in an effort to write that off as a problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciatedThanks for your response Jim.
Here is the latest. The computer itself started shutting down while working in premiere so I went back into the BIOS and changed the RAM from 1866MHZ to 1600MHZ and that seems to have fixed the problem. I was able to render that file and the computer seems solid again.
I won't be excited until it goes the rest of the day today and tomorrow and renders a 60 minute file again. Not sure what the ram speed was set to before updating the BIOS so I am guessing that was it. -
Premiere Pro CS4 crashes and system shuts down while rendering
Hi All,
Good morning everyone, my system shuts down while rendering using Adobe media encoder from premiere pro. I have tried the following:
1.Completely removing CS4 and reinstalling.
2. Updating all the video drivers.
3. Re installing the Operating System (XP and Vista)
But the issue persists, i have attached the crash report and any thoughts are highly appreciated.
Regards,
VincentA number of problems pop out of your DXDIAG:
Both your video driver and your audio driver are more than 3 years old.
Your F drive is slow, because of the fill rate of 90%. You lack other hard disks.
You have Matrox, BlackMagic, Nero, Sony, DivX and other stuff installed. It has been a long time ago that I have seen such a long list of DirectShow filters installed.
Suggestions: Update your drivers, clean up your F drive and add another disk, remove all that Matrox stuff, possibly include BlackMagic and Sony.
What export/encoding settings do you use from what sequence settings? -
MacBook randomly shuts down while watching streaming video
I've been having a problem lately with my MacBook randomly shutting down. I initially thought it was due to overheating which was logical considering I was using my MacBook in bed and the computer was very hot when it would shut off, but I've recently started using a TV-Table top for it to sit on when I'm using it in bed. My MacBook continues to shut down and the computer isn't nearly as hot as it was prior to using the TV-Table top, it is just warm. It's definitely not a battery issue because this happens when I'm using the power source as well. *I think I've noticed that this only happens when I'm in Firefox watching online streaming video on sites such as YouTube.* I never use Safari so I'm not sure if the problem would occur in Safari or not. I tried installing the MacBook SMC Firmware Update v1.1 but it said my computer didn't need it.
I have the same problem, every once in a not-so-blue moon my macbook pro shuts down while streaming video. It only happens when streaming video. Just watched some of the new south park episode, and it shut down on me! It really ticks me off!!!!!

My MacBook Air shuts down while streaming video. I am using safari and it works for a while but then shuts down and will not restart for quite some time. When it restarts I have to immediately close the video window or it will shut down again. I have the latest version of flashplayer.
This sounds like an overheating issue. Flash requires a surprisingly high level of resources. Do you hear your fans running at all while you are playing the videos?
Download the free iStat Pro widget directly from Apple:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/istatpro.html
It will show you both your fan speeds and temperature. Start playing a video and let it play for a short while (sometime before it typically shuts off... but long enough to let things warm up). Then check the temp and fan speed. Do this while the video is still playing as things can cool off pretty fast after you stop playing the video. Post the numbers back here. -
MacBook Pro Repeatedly Shuts Down Unexpectedly
My MacBook Pro has been repeatedly shutting down for about the past week or so. It happens very randomly when no particular application is open it seems. Here is the latest System Report that I received after it shut down. It is hooked up to a Thunderbolt Display quite often, but also shuts down when it isn't hooked up. I attempted to install a firmware update for a Thunderbolt Display fix (1.2 I believe) but I got weird error messages about it not installing properly even after I restarted my computer. Any help before taking it into the Genius Bar would be helpful (I am covered under Apple Care). MacBook Pro 9,2 running OS X 10.9.5

MacBook Pro (Mid-2009) shuts down while running on battery
Hi,
Five months ago, my MacBook Pro 15'' (2.53Ghz) started showing me the message 'Service Battery'. I took it to an Apple Store and I was told that everything is still fine. Nevertheless, for the past 2 months my laptop shuts down while running on battery (with 20% and 40% levels of charge) periodically. This does not happen every time.
Does anyone know if AppleCare covers this failure?
Is there any other way to fix this?
Thank you,
GeorgeMine does the same thing. May i suggest downloading istat pro to look at the health of your battery.
http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/istatpro.html
Also do you calibrate your battery?
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
I had never done that but after 15 months and 450+ cycles I was experiencing the same problem. I am a heavy user of my mbp 15" (2.4Ghz). After calibrating my health in istat which was going between 30-53 % Is holding steady around 65-mid 70% health wise. I have also noticed that my battery icon has gone from service battery to replace now to holding at replace soon for the time being.
I am not sure how many cycles you can get out of one battery but as far as i know 700ish is good. While i wish i was closer to an apple store (3ish hrs or more) i do hope i have helped you.
