Encore's started crashing on startup

Running 5.1 on Vista, was without problems. Today I built/burnt dvds, trying 3 versions of a dvd project; all 3 seemed to finish burning to disk right, and the first 2 did play properly, but the 3rd dvd was unreadable and actually caused read problems with the dvd drive till the computer was restarted.
While on computer restart the dvd drive seems recovered, now I cannot start Encore; it loads its components through transcoding, then the panels start to appear in the Encore window, then within some seconds I receive a Windows message "Adobe Encore has stopped working, Windows is searching for a solution to the problem" followed by the message that the program is closing.
So far I've tried without success deleting my Encore preferences and other very recent Encore files; restored Windows to restore my registry; launched old version Encore 5, same crash.
Apparently it's some kind of corrupted setting but if not in registry or preferences where?

Yes, I had disc in drive to redo build/burn that had failed, and when this disc was ejected, Encore started! Thanks for this helpful tip! Why did it work??
However, Encore is still acting a bit funky. When I redid the build/burn, it seemed to write correctly and in fact the burned disc seems to play correctly - but after burnt disc ejected, Encore gave the error message "Encore was unable to complete the operation because of a hardware error [ Sense Code 37304]. Please contact the hardware manufacturer for more information". Again, this was after burning a playable disc. Moreover my system shows no error in the functioning of the drive, and the drive successfully then burnt a data dvd. I then restarted Encore yet again and performed the identical build/burn, this time without the error message.
So thanks! The problem is largely solved. But Encore is still acting erratic and if there are other suggestions of other things I should do, or not do to make irregularities still present worse, they'd be of interest.

when you install the disc, do it with the machine powered off. Place the disc in the the slot, push it in while holding the power switch tp poer it up, while holding the "C" key down till the gear starts spinning. After the gear starts spinning you can release the C key and wait. This takes much longer than normal longer, then create a new account. Be ready to wait.

Most apps have started crashing on startup

As of today, most of my non-Apple standard apps have started crashing/quitting immediately on startup.
All the regular Apple apps work ok - Mail, Camera, Photo.
And some new apps I redownloaded that were crashing, like Google, now work again.
But most of my apps don't work. As soon as I start them up they immediately quit.
I tried a reset, but that didn't help.
Anybody ever see this before?

Never mind. It turns out I didn't do a true reset (hold the home and power buttons down until it automatically turns off and restarts). I was doing just a power down.
After a true restart everything started working again.

Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.7 started crashing on startup

Hello!
It started a couple of days ago. Mozilla Thunderbird started crashing unexpectedly when I tried to launch it one day. I tried to run Disk Utility (verify/repair permissions + verify disk) - did not help. I tried to delete PLIST file but it did not help. OS is 10.6.5, it is new Macbook Pro (bought it in November, so almost brand new). All other applications work fine. Any suggestions?

Indesign CC has started crashing on startup

Hello,
InDesign CC has suddenly started crashing every time I try to start it up. I have tried turning off all fonts (in FontExplorer X), deleted the preferences, uninstalled and then reinstalled InDesign. Nothing works. Last week it worked, now it doesn't. Here is a link to the crash report: http://pastebin.com/3UZvUXum
I am using OSX 10.9.2, and I still have InDesign CS6 on the same computer and it works fine. I can't remember doing anything significant (or at all) since CC did work.
At first I get these two messages:

Umm, for some reason InDesign now works - without even setting up a new user etc as you suggested. One week it didn't, next day it did. I do not know why. The only thing I can think of was that I had to sign out of CC to use it on a third computer, and then back in when I restarted this computer.

Encore CS4 suddenly crashing on startup

I have been using Adobe Production Premium CS4 for several months now with mostly no problems... crash here and there but nothing major. While using Encore to author a Blu-Ray disc, the software crashed when I transitioned from Photoshop back to Encore. I was editing a menu in Photoshop like I have done millions of times before, with minimal crashes. I shutdown and walked away for the day. When I came back the next day and started Encore it immediately gave me a crash report screen, and has given me a crash report screen every time since, it does not even make it to the splash screen. I have tried the OpenGL solution, no good. Tried the Version Cue startup solution, no good. Latest video drivers, audio drivers, etc, etc. Tried the user settings folder removal solution, no good. Even tried re-installing the entire suite, no good.
This makes no sense to me. I have successfully used Encore CS4 to master close to 20 DVDs since the release. There were no changes to the system from one day to the next. Any ideas?

Did this by any chance start to happen after updating via the Adobe Updater to 4.0.1? This can - and does unless turned firmly off in preferences - run in the background.
There have been issues with the updated version not playing nice with certain NVidia cards.

Yesturday I successfully made a DVD using Encore for the first time. Today it crashes on the startup, any idea how to fix. I use CC but installed Encore CS6, since there is no Encore for CC

Illustrator CS3 starts crashing on startup

I am using Adobe Illustator CS3, the Trial version. It worked earlier today, I could work with it flawlessly. Now, upon restarting the program, it crashes. I get the introduction yellow screen that mentions it loads several tools, but after that, the program doesn't start, it just disappears. I can try to reopen it, and it will show the same splash screen before vanishing again. I can also not find it in the processes in the task manager.
None of my system variables changed since it had been working earlier today.
I have Windows XP Service Pack 3, and meet all system requirements - it did, after all, already work.
The trial is not expired, I started using the program today.
Considering that the trial is still on-going, I would prefer to have this problem solved quickly.

I have tried restarting the machine and no dice. I thought of reinstalling itunes from apples site but each time I go there its says congrats on downloading it but will not download a single thing. On the problems downloading its only gives me answers to PC problems.
Do I really have to completely reinstall from my iMac install discs just to get itunes back ?
I dont use time machine as I have a 1T hardrive in my imac and use most of it for itunes, even I cant afford a 1T stand alone hard drive just for backups.

Yes, most times itunes will start now and go to the music section. Music works fine, can listne to songs with no problem. Some times itunes will crash just as soon as I hit the itunes icon but for the last day or so it will go to music with no problems. I can then go to apps and movies with no problems and even watch a movie. But if I click on the TV or book link it will crash.
I check and have no plug-ins in the iTunes folder.
Tried removing the the two items "iTunes folder & com.apple.iTunes" . I removed both to the desktop and restarted the mac. No dice it still crashes as soon as I try to go to the tv or the book link. Will return the two items to the library folder. Error report as follows.

I am running firefox 8 on a Win 7 pc. It started crashing on startup.

I submitted several crash reports but there are none on the pc I can pull up. I downloaded a new Firefox but when I tried to install it windows said I had to have administrator privileges to do it. I am the administrator and I put in my password but it would not take it, I checked the password, changed it and eliminated it but still no go. Also tried installing as just a user but when I did the install window just disappears\. What can I do? Thanks for the help. At about this same time I had a malware attack which affected my firewall. Got it fixed but it didn't help Firefox.

Encore crashes on startup everytime

Every time I start Encore CS6, it crashes on startup. I have tried emptying cache, deleting preferences, rebooting and still the same result. I also tried running Onxy to repair permissions. None of this allows Encore to open. I even tried iDVD. My goal is to burn a DVD from media I exported from PP CC.
Any help would be appreciated.

Has Encore ever run for you on this machine?
Mavericks causes a variety of issues. My understanding is that permissions repair does not fix the problem, because Mavericks (and Yosemite?) changes the permissions needed for Adobe to work. CC working makes this alone less likely to be the issue. But CC has been updated for this operating system, and Encore (CS6) has no, and will not be.
Here is some information that may give you a direction:
Many of the issues in Mavericks appeared to be permissions. Most Adobe apps need read/write access, and those were not the defaults for the OS.
Some Mavericks users reported the following fixes their problems - I eventually assumed that somewhere in the process, it was fixing permissions. But perhaps it does more:

And comments for these operating systems for Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, and After Effects may be helpful. (Encore does not have a support team that is active, so nothing official for it.) But there are specific bug fixes for these OSs in CC versions, so....

Premiere Elements 7 Crashes on Startup

The programme has been working fine for about 2 months but, as of last night, my copy of Premiere Elements 7 has started crashing on startup...it gets through the load screen and gives me the usual options to open an existing project or a new project etc--but as soon as the editing workspace opens, I get an error message and the programme closes. If it's significant, the fault appeared on my first attempt to open the programme after Adobe Updater told me there were updates available and I let it go ahead...I wonder if something became corrupted in that process.
If anyone has any fixes based on the above, I'd be grateful. However, I'm more than willing to just reinstall (I still have the original download files available on my computer) but, before I try this, want to make sure I will be able to re-register my copy when I have done the reinstall (I have all the codes etc.). Perhaps I'm being paranoid but I've used Audition for ages and know people have had problems registering again if they've been unable to unregister a copy before starting again...I don't know if Premiere Elements 7 is the same but want to make sure I have my "ducks in a row" before starting a process I might regret.

Well, I've solved it without re-installing but I'm surprised at what caused the trouble.
There was a faulty .avi file in the directory I've nominated for storing my source video and audio. (I'd started to transfer a large file, realised it was the wrong one and stopped the transfer before it was complete.) Deleting this one file has the programme working properly again. I mention it in case it helps anyone else in the future but I'm surprised something so basic could cause a crash.
Thanks for the advice that reinstalling isn't a problem...good to know just in case I ever have to.

Crashes at startup, every time

Last night Logic Pro 7 (7.2.1 on OS X 10.4.7) started crashing on startup. I hadn't installed anything new to the system, and in fact the last time I had exited Logic, it was a clean exit. Now it's been 24 hours and I still can't get anywhere with it.
I did do something new and different (for me) in between the successful exit and the first failed startup, but I'm not sure it's relevant: I noticed my project was getting too big to fit on a DVD-R, so I right-clicked the project folder and started creating an archive (ZIP file). Logic was not running at the time, though I think ITunes was, and it was playing a file imported from the Logic project in question. Anyway the progress indicator made it look like it was going to take a long time to make the archive, so I clicked the (X) to abandon the task for the time being. Logic hasn't run since.
Here are all the things I've tried in the meantime:
1. Upgraded OS to 10.4.8 and Logic to 7.2.3.
2. Reinstalled Logic 7.2 from disc, then reupgraded from the net, trying it at each stage.
3. Removed half the RAM, then the other half.
4. Started Logic with control key down to get audio out of the equation.
5. Moved all contents from Components folder to a temporary directory somewhere else.
6. Upgraded BFD, since it was there. (Note: the other Plug-In I have is Ivory, in case that matters.)
7. Started Logic by double-clicking on a near-empty project file, rather than just starting the app.
In no case did the behavior ever change: it boots up normally, right up to the point where the arrange window is up there looking like it should. Then a dialog box appears indicating the crash. I've read the crash logs but I don't know what I'm looking at.

I'm no Mac expert, but I have a strong feeling that the hardware is happy as a clam, and so is the O/S, and basically there's a configuration parameter or startup file somewhere that Logic doesn't like. Can someone lend a hand?

Boot Logic without the CoreAudio driver enabled. After double-clicking your file hold CTRL. Logic will ask you if you want to boot CoreAudio. Answer no. The session will load with all of your plugs and VI's x'd out. Once the session is open and all of the MIDI dialogs etc. go away, open up the audio preferences, uncheck, then recheck enable. Logic will ask you if you want to 'Try Relaunch' of the CoreAudio driver. Hit yes.
I've had a number of huge sessions that fall victim to very problem you're plagued with. I remember being quite angry when I couldn't boot after a clean close. This makes my sessions usable every time they are seemingly not.
The other tip that this forum has helped in keeping things running smoothly is the 'reorganize memory' function (dbl-click beneath the tempo). This little ditty's resurrected sessions that refuse to bounce (you know the ones that crash then take 6 minutes to reopen.)
Oh, and, oft times, the sessions that have trouble opening from scratch return to their normal state of content. The problem has something to do with Logic asking about MIDI connections after all of your VI's are loaded (I have a Tranzport that sits in the closet and never gets plugged in. When logic opens a session it automatically gets looked for. If the session's particularly big I can usually count on a crash.

I have a 2009 8-core Mac Pro (2.26Ghz) with a GT120 graphics card. I use Final Cut Studio 3 frequently, and up until recently without any hitches. Last week, Color started previewing clips as black with touches of red (I'm assuming a readout of the clips colour data in some form) and therefore I can't grade any clips as I can't preview them. On top of that, two days later Motion started crashing on startup. Seeing as both programs rely heavily on the graphics card all I can deduce is that something's wrong with my card and it needs changing. Anyone else had any of these problems and come to a solution?

Is there an add-in video card in the slot? If so, remove it and try to turn on. If the problem is the video card it will turn on. If not it is the power supply.

Iphoto keeps crashing on startup

Hi,
I installed Ilife '09 about a month ago, and since then I've had big problems with IPhoto. It loads fine for a couple of days, and then it stops working, just crashes on startup and gives me an error that it has unexpectedly quit. I tried deleting the preferences file but that didn't work. I have now re-installed IPhoto about 4 times - and every time it works for a couple of days and then starts crashing on startup again.
Any idea what's going wrong?

Backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
