Encore Stops Writing Files to DVD

Encore CS2 quite often just stops writing files (stanard def) to the DVD with 4 minutes left or 48 seconds left to write files.  I have used several different DVDs brands (usually Taiyo Duden). The windows task manager indicates that the program is still running and after I click cancel on the build progress I always have to close the program down with 'end task' or sometimes I have to cold boot the computer.

This ARTICLE might also help you get some clues as to what is going on, when Encore hangs.
Things to check on: other processes getting in the way - this ARTICLE might be of help; hibernation mode, or similar cutting in; screen-saver cutting in.
FWIW, I use Encore 2.0, and either Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden blank media, and have never had similar with about 1500 discs burned from Encore. What you describe is not normal.
Good luck,

  • Trouble writing large Quicktime file to DVD

I'm having trouble writing a large (2.4G) Quicktime mov. file to DVD. If I burn it as a video it comes out fine, but when I try to write it as a file the end product is jerky and staggered and can't be easily transferred to another computer. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the size of the file and if there is another way of transferring this file uncompressed, short of carrying my hard drive across town.

The trouble is caused by the speed (data rate) that can be achieved when playing from DVD media via QuickTime Player.
If you burn the DVD as a "data file" you should then copy it (temporarily) to the HD of the viewing machine. Drag the file from the DVD to the Desktop on the viewing machine and then open it with a double click.
When you "burn" it as DVD media you are actually converting the file to MPEG-2 format and the DVD Player can handle these lower data rates.
Does this make sense to you?

My iMac (Intel) has stopped writing DVDs and CDs - what do I do first?

You can try one of the CD/DVD cleaning discs but I doubt it will work. Your superdrive has probably failed.
you can have Apple replace it, for around $120, or buy any brand external DVD drive that connects by USB port and it will work with your Mac. Most cost around $30.

  • Installing 10.6.6 - writing files never stops

5 times I have tried to intall 10.6.6
    It goes to writing files....
30 seconds to about 80% of blue bar
The last 19% about an hour.
I left it one for 12 hours and the bar was completely blue but it would not go past writing files.
Other odd thing is I tried to repair disk permissions and when it's done (although one file not repaired), if I run it again all of the same files come up to be repaired again.

Contact Codeweavers and ask how to remove its software.
Meanwhile, go to Finder File menu, and do a new Finder window. At the bottom of the window it should tell you the MB/GB used. If it does not, and all you see is white space to the bottom of the screen, click on the green button on the upper left. If it still doesn't show it, go to the View menu and select Show Status Bar.
The MB/GB used tells you how much space you have left on the Finder window.
Then the Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info under the hardware section SATA will tell you the size of the hard drive when you select SATA.

CS 4 Dynamic Link to Encore doesn't work most of the time.  Encore stops operating after opening and periodically Premier Pro stops working.  I'm told that there has been a problem with CS4 when using Dynamic Link to go to Encore and build CD's.  Is there a way around this?  Is there a patch to correct it?

    To build CD's???
What problem does Encore have with DL?
If DL is not working properly for you the way around this is to export from Premiere to either mpeg2-dvd for DVD or BluRay H.264 for BD-disks and import the files in Encore.

  • Can Adobe Encore CS3 make a 24p DVD or not?

I'm trying to create a professional quality 24p DVD (Progressive: 23.976 fps)  But when you open Encore and choose Authoring Mode: DVD I only have two options PAL or NTSC and all the other options are disabled!  But that screen says: It will be either 29.97i for NTSC or 25i for PAL.  I'm trying to make a real DVD here!  Not a home movie.  How do I get rid of the interlacing and get it to 24 fps?  If I change the transcode settings inside the project after accepting one of those bad settings does that do anything?  It doesn't seem like it when I write my DVD.

    JackSkyyler wrote:
Anyway, the thing I'm confused on is: how would it work when I'm in a 29.97i project?  It doesn't seem like it could be writing it correctly.
Oh, and in format should I be using MPEG2 or MPEG2-DVD
I tried the MPEG2 because I'd already tried this for MPEG2-DVD and it didn't seem to work plus I couldn't find the pulldown option on it.
You need to do some serious research on the DVD spec and what's legal  and what's not.  Encore's got its share of bugs, but there's no hope  for a successful project unless the author knows what he's doing.  24P  isn't for home movies (as you've noted) and it moves you squarely  into big-boy land.  Your questions indicate that you have no idea about how 24P footage can be stored on an NTSC DVD.  May I suggest the DVD FAQ at the DVD Demystified web site?
Two En CS3 bugs are noteworthy:
En will re-transcode your video, even if it is DVD-legal, if it contains multiplexed audio that doesn't match your En project audio settings.  That's why it's best to transcode to elementary streams: M2V video and WAV or AC3 audio.
If you allow En to transcode your 24P video, En will hard-code the 2:3 pulldown into the video stream instead of simply setting pulldown flags.  You'll end up with a real 29.97 fps interlaced video file and your 24P look will be ruined.  En CS4 and En CS5 don't have that issue.
Your other option is to hire an experienced DVD author to author the disc for you.

  • Report Subscription - Failure writing file - The network path was not found.

I have several subscriptins which have been working fine.
All suddenly stopped with same error - Failure writing file - The network path was not found.
The subscriptions write to a number of different network paths, all of which exist and are accessible.

Is this a repeating failure or one time occurrence?  If it's a one time occurrence it could have been a short network outage.  If repeating look and ensure the user that the subscription is using to write the files still has the appropriate permissions,
is enabled, not locked, etc.  Other things to possibly consider would be flushing the dns cache on the server.  It's possible a firewall rule could have been put in place that would block the ability to access said location as well.  The best
thing you can do is start by asking "what has changed".

  • .PDF files in DVD ROM content

I am using a Mac and Encore CS4. I am trying to include a .pdf file as DVD ROM content. Whenever I try this, all .pdf files are "grayed out" and I can't use them. Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 and Adobe Acrobat Pro are both installed on the computer. I can read .pdf files outside of Encore.
    Any help would be appreciated.

To add to Ruud's comment. When adding DVD-ROM content (Build tab; about half way down), you cannot add files; you must add folders. But you can have anything you want inside the folder.
If you really want the file at the root of the DVD (i.e. not in a folder), build from Encore to a DVD folder without the file(s). Then use ImgBurn, add the Video_TS folder and any other files, then burn. I've never done this before, so I did a quick test (but I am CS3). Such a disk plays as a DVD in a set top DVD player and on a PC through wmp, and, on the PC, I can open the file from the disk.

  • Why is Premiere 6 giving a "Error writing file (disk full?)" message?

    Hello helpful experts,
    I'm using Premiere 6 on a Windows 7 machine.
I have a file imported in to the timeline and it is set to play in reverse via the speed setting being set to -100 and it plays back in the preview window correctly, in reverse, when I click the play button.
But when I do a  "File>Export Timeline>Movie" command I get an error message saying "An error occurred while making the movie. Error writing file (disk full?)"... but my hard drive is not nearly full, with over 30 gigs left open on it... and my RAM usage gadget shows over half of my RAM capacity is unused.
Now previously, weeks ago on a different project, I was getting this same error message for a while when I would hit enter to preview my movie on the timeline (but that worked itself out somehow and eventually stopped giving me that error message).  But when I went to save and export, then I would not get the error message... now, it is just the opposite... I'm now getting the error message when trying to do an export and save the movie.
And also now when I hit enter to preview, as opposed to just clicking the play button on the preview window, Premiere is going through the process of saving the movie since it is saving a temporary preview file... hopefully, since I'm getting this error message, I can find the temporary preview file and save it as my exported AVI file.
But I still shouldn't be getting this error message when trying to save, or when trying to preview, as I did for a while a couple of weeks ago.
Does anyone know about the erroneous error message that says, "An error occurred while making the movie. Error writing file (disk full?)"
    Thanks,
    numetro

I am unable to complete captures because I get a message
that says "capture stopped because disk was full." What
    does this mean?

If you are using a Pinnacle card, a possible solution to
this is to right click on the recycle bin, and set the
percentage on your media drive to less than 2%.
There a several other possible causes as well, but you
need to supply some info about your system. How are you
capturing and what format is your video? How big is
    your hard drive?
    Jeff Schell - 09:57am Apr 17, 2003 Pacific (#2 of 2)
this is one of my favorite error messages. Basically,
you've chosen an incorrect setting in your DV settings.
(Odds are you have DV settings). If so, read on:
    1. The DV format is very rigid. Meaning that if you
make changes to the format, it cannot export as
requested, because your movie file must match every
       single spec exactly.
    2. When Premiere goes to export a project, the DV codec
says "Whoa. I can't do anything, because the settings
       don't match."
    3. Then Premiere comes back to you and has to report an
error. (Don't shoot the messenger). Unfortunately,
Premiere doesn't know why it wasn't able to export a
movie. So it says to you, "Um... I can't make the movie.
Um... maybe your hard drives are full?"
It's a complete guess. And has nothing to do with your harddrives.
Check your project settings and/or your export settings. Make
sure you have chosen one of the "presets" that will specify
every correct setting for you. Make sure it is one of the DV
presets, if you are using DV video, or make sure it is one of
the presets supplied by your capture card manufacturer (in this
case I'm going to guess Pinnacle or Matrox.)
To choose a preset, go to Project > Settings Viewer, and then
click on the project settings column, and then click 'load' to
load a correct preset. Do the same with export settings.

  • ENCORE STOPS WORKING

    Hi.
I am using Encore CS4 on Windows 7, AMD Athlon Dual Core 64 2.31 GHz, 5 GB DDR2 667 RAM.  Working on a HD video project, I have  a main menu and 4 sub-menus, 56 short time lines, about 1 or 2 minutes each one.  When I check for errors, everything It´s Ok, no errors, I start to render to DVD folder or DVD disc, but after one and a half hour, Encore stops, and a screen appears : "Encore has encoutered an error and stops working" or somethiong like that.  I have checked the  physical memory developed on the Resource monitor, on the Task Manager option, and Free memory starts at 1700 MB, but while time advances, those MB reduces to get O free. thats then Encore creashes... I think 5 GB of RAM are enugh, but by now I have this problem.
How Can I do to render my project?
    Thank you

  • Stop M2V files from previewing in finder

Is there any way to stop M2V files from previewing in finder? It either always crashes the finder or it just sits there forever(especially if it is a long video) with the cursor spinning until it can preview it.
Also when I try to locate these type of files when DVD Studio cant find them, it crashes DVD studio.

column view is the way I prefer view Finder and that is where it shows a preview of the video in the last collumn to the right. I know that you can turn off this preview from showing on all collumns, but i find it so usefull for everything else.
I remember a couple of years back when it would'nt even try to preview the file it would just show an image maybe the first frame. this was back in the days of DVD Studio 1.0. I'm pretty sure that Quicktime wouldn't open the files either back then either. there needs to be a way to tell OS X not to preview certain file types.
I wouldn't care except it can take up to 15 to 20 min for OSx to preview the file and in that time you cant use the the finder at all. talk about losing your day. most of the time now it just crashed the finder.
I'm still using panther 10.39. is this my problem? does Tiger have the same issues?

  • QFS won't error writing files to a SAN

    Hello,
This is probably a simple thing to do but I have not been able to figure out how to do it. We have a SAN up and running QFS with 4 clients connected to it. I have a Java application that is writing files to this SAN and is running on one of the clients. If I unplug the fiber cable that connects that client to the SAN nothing fails. The file continues to grow larger. The Java app continues to run. And actually it's been running for about 3 hours now without failing and the file keeps getting larger. The file can also be seen and seen to grow from the other clients connected to the SAN. This seems pretty miraculous if you ask me!! I understand that QFS is using a caching mechanism by default. Sun told us to try setting the mount to do forcedirectio(I think this is what it is by memory). However they said that if it can't write directly it defaults back to cache anyway.
I can see this behavior being really good for a lot of applications. But, my problem is that I have applications running on all of the clients that are writing very large amounts of data almost continuously to the SAN. If there is any problem writing, whether the SAN just dies or we lose fiber connections or fiber cards or a LUN dies or whatever, I need the applications to be able to failover to an entirely different SAN without a single hickup. The way I thought I'd do this is by catching an I/O exception in the Java application but since QFS never gives an error I can't do this. Is there any way to force QFS to give me an error when there is a problem? Or is there a different way I should go about this. I am relatively new to SAN's so any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Stop writing log in JBOSS Server

    Hi All,
I am using JBoss4.0.1 application server. I start my server everday once in the morning. From that time that will starts writing the log file. If no of clients are more who are accessing my application then by next 3 or 4 hours its going write the log file of size about 2 GB. Does anybody knows configuring jboss to stop writing log file.

I guess it is perfectly a wrong notion as i personally or to many corporate applications are using Log4j & JBOSS combination and logging some critical details.
It would be great if you can go through the below links and try to configure it urself.
    http://docs.jboss.org/jbossas/logging/JBossLog4j.pdf

I understand as it lacks in providing a proper administrative tool by which we can do all this however,I think it is gud enough Application Server and could match any big player in the business :)

  • How to stop writing to FCC

    Hello All,
One of the target field is mapped from source in my message mapping.
Is there anyway to stop writing Integration Engine output to receiver file adapter?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Moorthy

    Hello,
You can use the technique used in variable substitution. Namely, in your FCC specify
    1.) NameA.fieldFixedLengths set to 0(for the field)
    2.) NameA.fixedLengthTooShortHandling set to cut
    Hope this helps,

  • Encore 2.0 - Burning Multiple DVD Copies

I recently finished a project where I needed 10 copies of the finished DVD. I created an iso file, then used Encore 2.0 to burn. I set the number of copies to 10 and proceeded to burn #1. The #1 DVD worked fine and Encore asked for the next DVD. After putting in #2, the prog just sat there. I tried different copy numbers, but it would always "hang" after #1. I finished the project by burning one at a time.
    Anyone ever seen this before?

Not really an answer to your question, but a quick fix:
    Use
    ImgBurn
    (freeware/donationware) to burn. :)
