Note that if the video is too long and motion menus exceed 1GB (in MPEG-2 for DVD format), Encore may throw an error at build time.
But perhaps not, if only building to Flash?

How do you structure a full flash website without the timeline?

Hello there. I was wondering how to build and structure a full flash website using the OOP approach. I have an idea of how to structure an application using the MVC design pattern, but I cannot put things together in order to structure a whole website.

I'm nowhere near an expert on this topic, and I suspect that the overall purpose of your site would help guide the best approach to designing and developing it without the timeline. I've done a lot of this with Flash for a limited purpose - creating a client clip that has only one frame, but responds to user events with dynamic behavior. My suggestion would be to take a look at some of the books that cover this topic to get a better idea of exactly how you'd like to deal with this project.

Flash Player without playing in Internet Browser

Hello,
My computer has Flash installed but this question is for
people who do not have Flash installed (i.e. client). Can a person
view a flash SWF file in a Flash Player window outside of their
internet browser. I wasn't sure if Flash was installed as an
internet app plugin as opposed to a stand alone player. Since I
have Flash installed, I have the option to play in Flash Player, I
wasn't sure if that option was granted to non-Flash app computer
users with Flash Player installed.

You can always output the movie as a projector file, which is
a self-running executable that can be played on a computer without
the Flash player installed. Of course, it increases the file size
and is a problem to send by e-mail, since most spam catchers will
weed out any attached EXE file.

Navigate in songs instead of vol. control during playback

Hi everybody,
I am using a 80GB iPod classic, and although I am pleased with it there is one annoying thing:
When I listen to a song and want to change the playing position I always have to click the center button twice because the first control that appears is volume control. As I usually try to keep the volume at the same level and rather skip within songs I wonder if there is a setting somewhere in the iPod software to change that. So that if I click on the center button one time I than can change position, and only after a second click I can change the volume.
Maybe someone knows a solution to that.
Also, an A - B play function would be heavily appreciated!

I always have to click the center button twice because the first control that appears is volume control.
When in the "now playing" screen you click the centre button once to get to the ff and rew option (where a small diamond shape appears in the progress bar). Clicking the centre button twice should take you to ratings screen. You shouldn't have to click the centre button +at all+ to adjust the volume.
Also, an A - B play function would be heavily appreciated!
iPod Feedback.

No play-head during playback on iPhone 4.

When I'm using the iPod function on my iPhone, to play tunes or podcasts, the playhead is no longer there.
This means I can't see how far through the track I am, I can't scrub back and forth, and the 'rewind 30 seconds' function is no more.
I recetly updated the OS so am wondering if this is the reason, and what I can do about it?!

Tap once on the album artwork of the currently playing item under "Now Playing" and that will show the "Scrubbing bar" that you are looking for. As far as the "rewind 30 second" function I'm pretty sure it only shows on podcasts and audiobooks.

YouTube Videos Stop Playing/Loading During Playback

Can anyone tell me how to fix my iPhone4? When viewing YouTube videos with the App over wifi, everything is good until after a random amount of playback, the download bar stops loading and the video stops playing. This happens on most videos.

I was about to post the same problem - many YouTube videos either won't start downloading to my iPhone 4 or download about 15% then stop. Here's an example of a video that won't start downloading:

I'm on a very fast cable internet link and ten feet from my Airport Extreme base station. I'm on iOS 4.3.3.
This happens on WiFi or 3G links, everything else works fine.
Recall that the original iPhone ads touted the ability to download and watch YouTube materials. Not so much anymore.

Trying To Add UIScrollbar To Flash Website But FLA File Has No Layers

I was asked to add content to a flash website page... When I open the FLA file, there are aboslutely no layers for me to work with. I found an .as file that contained the page content and so I added the needed content there. But this is where I run into a problem. I'm fairly new to flash so perhaps this is common. After adding the additional content, the content now extends vertically and beyond the page borders. In doing research, I discovered that the solution is to change the TextField to "dynamic" and add a UIScrollbar during the build. I've learned to do this but the problem remains that I don't have any layers to modify for this particular website. Can someone explain why or how I can find the layers for this file? I am using Flash CS3... and unsure what version the original designer was using. I guess another option is to add a UIScrollbar to the website by modifying the .as file directly. Can this be done? Please help!

Playing .exe flash file without flash player

Hi,
We have a .exe flash file generated from adobe captivate. If we have flash player PC,.exe will be played. If we don't have flash player on PC,it will ask for installing latest version flash player,if we give ok and click on .exe file again it will be played.But in installed program list i dont see flash player.Where is flash player installed? And is there any way to play .exe file without showing that message if we dont have flash player?

No i dont see flash player in Add or remove programs. I don't know whether captivate .exe file have some inbuilt capacity to play itself. It is not problem. Our problem is we dont want that message for installation. Can we do installation of flash automatically and play once we click .exe file without showing any message or can we play .exe without flash?

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

[Flash video not playing in IE --- Urgent!]

I am trying to play the flash video on my website, for some reason, it is not working on IE. I tested it live on firefox and safari in Mac and both worked fine. I am using netConnection code. Can someone help me on this? It is very urgent.

absent (the "red x" is in its place) and I receive the message
"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls
on this page. As a result the page may not display correctly."
Now, this happens in IE6 only on the default security
settings. I have other sites that embed flash video and play fine
in IE6 without warning...they weren't created with Dreamweaver CS3
though.
What is triggering this in IE 6 and can I remove some code
from my page to prevent this?

Encore CS6 Flash Export problem

Hey There!
I am having a problem with my encore CS6 flash exports.
The DVD menus are shown the right way in the browser but, when I select a video to be played, the flash player shows me the video controls but no video. The background stays grey. I've tried exporting FLV and F4V and the problem is the same.
It looks like the link in the XML is not good. The videos are in the folder exported by Encore and they play well in VLC. Do you have to edit the XML file to make this work? I guess not...
Maybe reinstalling everything? Because from my perspective, it looks like it is an easy procedure and it should work.
Any help would be appreciated!
My specs:
- Mac Pro late 2013 with Maveriks 10.9.4
- Safari 7.05
- Encore CS6

The Encore structure puts the flv in a "sources" subdirectory under the level with the index.html.
As long as the user has not modified anything, the path should be okay.
Nicolas, confirm that the directory with index.html file also has a subdirectory called "sources," and that that is where the flv/f4v is.
My suspicion for many users with a local, but not web problem, are having a local permissions issue.
One user reported fixing a similar problem by removing odd characters in the filenames. The theory was that the characters were breaking the xml linking.

Creating a flash website

I am new with creating flash websites. I have the basis of it done but I am unsure how make it do what I want it to do.
First off, I want the background to keeping looping. I want that to stay the same but I have some animation, so I want it to keep moving.
Secondly, I want to have buttons that you click, and when you click them information comes up. But again, I want the background to be the same and to keep moving while the information stays put. Then I want this information to stay until I click on another button to take me to different information.
At the moment I have 2 scenes going on. Scene 1 is my homepage with the moving background. Scene 2 has the first button information (ie contact us page) alongside the moving background. I have it so that on Scene 1, when you click on the button it will take you to Scene 2. The problem is, if you just let Scene 1 play it automatically goes into Scene 2 without clicking on the button. I am unsure how to just get it to play Scene 1, and only when you click on the button it will go to Scene 2. Then in my Scene 2 (with the information) I do not know how to keep the information there with the background still moving. I am not even sure if I am on the right track to doing the right thing.
Any suggestions or help you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Add a layer to your timeline. At the very last frame make a keyframe. Click in that single keyframe and go in the Window->Actions panel.
If you want whatever happened on the timeline to happen again, use this script:
gotoAndPlay(1);
If you want it to stop at the end, just use this:
stop();
Do this to each scene you want to stop or loop at the end of.
