Encore WT8-A-102 - Working VGA Adapters

After trying a few HDMI to VGA adapters in shops I have found one which works online. (With the latest BIOS 1.60 and recently released platform drivers), thought it might be useful to others looking for one to have a list of confirmed working adapters.
This TMART one (Micro HDMI to VGA Adapter with Audio Cable White) works (~7 delivered)
(Id also like to make this not a question.. but cant see the option to do that anywhere)

    hi,
I have toshiba encore wt8 b 102. I dont have micro hdmi, only micro usb. How can I connect my tablet to tv (no wifi) ?
    Message was edited by: kropek

According to the Toshiba ENCORE WT8-A-102 specification page, the table supports the micro HDMI out port.
This port can be used in order to connect the table to the TVs HDMI IN port.
Of course this requires the usage of micro HDMI to HDMI cable

  • How to unlock GNSS Encore WT8-A-102?

I tested all possible combinations with GNSS drivers (newest, olders) in Windows and always have one problem - GPS is locked.
All localization services in Windows is ON (no problem with services). GNSS good working only with Metro mode (Microsoft maps working OK).
Desktop mode = always locked. GNSS cannot support com virtualization mode = normal.
If I use GPS Reverse driver (emulated COM port) GnssDataInterface always says in Sensor state - is Llocked!
How unlock this sensor in desktop mode? Bios 1.6 and Windows and Automapa up to date.
I wan't use Automapa to navi program....
    My English isn't sensational....
Perhaps somebody already solved this problem?

I’m a little bit confused about this message.
The tablet was equipped with GPS and the Windows 8.1 supports the location tracking.
The GPS driver is part of the system and everything you need to do is to tell the specific applications that it’s okay to track your location.
When you start a Windows 8.1 app that wants to use your location you will see a notification:
“do you want to turn on location services and allow (appname) to use your location”?
Then you have to click on the button “allow” or “block”.
The location settings can be found in:
Settings -> change PC settings -> privacy -> location
Here you can change the location settings for each app.

    Dear sir,

Are you really a serious company?
You advertise that the tablet has 5 MP camera ... where in hell you saw the 5 MP ...
In my windows phone i have 5 MP camera and if you compare the pictures of the table with ones of the phone you can see a HUGE difference with the phone pictures being superior of these of the tablet ... i have the tablet for 3 months , i have use it for about 30 hours max and the one problem comes to add to another problem ... now i can't take a picture ...the camera doesn't work.
For about a week i can't log in to my wifi cause the realtek chipset doesn't work all of a sudden ... and i want to ask you one more time "ARE YOU A SERIOUS COMPANY???" ... I don't think so ... please provide me with information on how i can replace this piece of crap that i bought cause i relied on Toshiba's name ... here in greece you don't have any offices , any telephone , any mail ???? the only mail you have doen't work ... For God sake .....
A very very angry and to totally disatisfied customer of yours ....

Im totally disatissfaid its unbeleivable you sell this product!! Which is tottaly useless! I was attracted by the specs but performance is just BELOW any acceptance!!!
    1) I've used it past 4 days since I received it just to set it to be more USER FRIENDLY, and so far haven't solve ANYTHING! Its the most USER UNFRIENDLY PRODUCT I have ever owned! Even writing this post is absolute hell & struggle.
    2) How can you falsely advertise it as "SKYPE OPTIMIZED" when its anything BUT Skype optimized!!!????
I have been struggling ever since I received it to connect to my old Skype account WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE! WHY JUST WHY YOU ARE TORTURING CUSTOMERS SO MUCH TOSHIBA!!? Choosing terrible Windows for tablet is the worst thing you have done!!!
    3) I managed to connect on new account on Skype&still impossible on old!!!, I was again so shocked!!! Both Cameras are just TERRIBLE , pictures are USELESS, C'MON its anything but 5Mb Camera, I can't even take any pic with it! My mom couldn't even see me or hear me! Mic is awful as well as WiFi! Then position of the cam! WHY ON EARTH YOU PUT FRONT CAM IN FAR RIGHT ANGLE! Ppl see only my right part of the eye when I try using this "skype optimized" tablet!!! My Chinese Thl5 phone is a blast machine for this dinosaur USELESS TABLET! I couldnt make any call on Skype cos picture is terrible, sound is terrible, wifi receiver is terrible, mic is terrible, they see only my far upper right forehead!!!
I've given up on using it for Skype- since its impossible!!!
    4) Other rthings;
Its absolute hell to use it, or write anything on it!!! If I try different language keyboard it automatically change words in some unknown englush words!!! I gave up on using it since I dont want to spend 2hours writing a simple comment on FB or filling a web address!
If I forgot something its because is impossible even to write on it so I'll copy paste my other review down below!
    5) And yes THIS IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT - You have a terrible customer service in Serbia this must not happen!
They are rude, don't reply on questions even start an argue with a customer on FB! When I asked for a phone number who to call about the problems they behaved below any customer friendly standards! Im going to inform about this your Global headquarters.
    6) I would like my money back, since this is utterly useless product, how can you refund me? I will gladly give you back this but your official representatives in Serbia are very rude and dont want to help me with this! Hopefully you will? Since I will never ever buy any of your product if you continue this user unfriendly policy.
Its been a terible pain even to write this comment on this tablet, I switch to my chinese phone and think to chuck this tablet down the window...
good bye toshiba, I am terribly dissapointed in you, even though I own more of your products it took me 2 hours to write this how user unfriendly this product is!

  • Display doesn't work anymore on my Encore WT8-A

    Hey everyone,
I have an Encore WT8-A-102 with Windows 8.1
One morning, when I tried to start it (not from standby/hibernation but normal start) nothing happend anymore. the display stayed black. only when I touched the windows button sometimes it vibrated.
I have one possible answer why this is happening. I used the SD-Card of the tablet to update the firmware of my audio player (Fiio X3). I had to put an *.fw file onto the SD-Card and after updating the player I put the card back into the tablet without deleting the file.
Is it possible that the tablet tried to boot from the SD-Card and run the firmware update which was not meant to be used for this device?
    I didn't create a USB recovery stick...
Thanks for any hints how this can be sovled!

If You have problem with enter to BIOS:
    - go to page and download firmware
*https://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=1200007163* (if it is Your model)
    - on PC download and install https://www.7-zip.org/ (or use PeaZip)
    - unpack all files from OS2014095A_TC30678200D_1.60.exe (right mouse Button - extract to...) fo folder default folder OS2014095A_TC30678200D_1.60 or other name folder (use 7zip unpacker)
    - unpack identically next file (in unpacked folder) *Malta_WinBios_1.60.exe* to tolder
    - check file *Malta1.60.fd* and copy to SD card and boot (maybe flashed from SD)
I don't tested on my Encore - maybe working.

  • Encore WT8 - screen Mirroring on TV does not work

    Hello,
I have a KDL42-W653A television which supports screen mirroring over WiFi.
However, I cannot get it to work with the Toshiba Encore W8 tablet.
The tablet detects the television, I enter the number, but the television never shows the tablet's screen.
Both the television and the tablet are on the latest firmware.
Another thread indicates there is an update for HDMI in January. I hope that covers this too.
    Anwar

    Hi
    > I have a KDL42-W653A television which supports screen mirroring over WiFi.
By mirroring over WiFi what technology you mean exactly?
    Miracast, Intel WiDi, DisplayLink?
    Toshiba Encore supports *Miracast*
To use Miracase both devices needs to support this technology.
Then you can connect to external display very easy:
Tab Settings -> Change PC settings -> PC and devices -> Devices
Here you have to Add a device and you tablet will start searching for a Miracast devices
After the connection has been established, the name of the Miracast device will appear under Projectors
Did you test the video output connecting the table to the TV with an micro-HDMI cable?
    Does it work?
Here is also an nice youtube video about the Toshiba Encore WT8 screen output options

  • Mini display to VGA adapters. Will older ones/non-Apple ones work?

(MacBook Pro 17", 2 years old)
What's the 411 on mini display-to-VGA adapters? I'm not particularly thrilled about the prospect of paying $30 from Apple. Will the older "roundy" style adapters work just as well? Ebay is flooded with 'em for cheap. What about the aftermarket ones? Or are Apple's adapters proprietary (I wouldn't put it past them if theirs were!)?
    Thanks-

    Hello,
I have a weird problem with my Macbook pro 13" bought in sep 09. I have connected my Samsung HDTV 720p via mini display of Macbook pro 13 to DVI adapter n thn DVI to HDMI cable to HDMI port of TV.
When the display cable is unplugged, i am able to surf the internet and watch videos, as soon as I connect the mini display port to macbook pro, iternet freezes.
I even tried to move my macbook far away from the HDTV, but it never helped.
I noticed, macbook was connected to wifi in this situation but internet was not working, even i tried to ping my Netgear wifi router, it could not ping. and turned off the Airport and again turned it on (while the Display cable was connected to HDTV), it was not accepting password for my wifi router.
I dont know what is the problem, i tried all I knew to solve but still helpless.
Anybody please help me get this resolved.

  • Toshiba WT8-A-102 hdmi problem

I recently bought a Toshiba encore tablet (WT8-A-102, windows 8.1).
However, i can't connect it to an external monitor (tv) via hdmi. I use a micro hdmi to hdmi cable.
The tablet can't recognize the tv.
The tv always displays the message "no signal", and i can't duplicate or extend the tablet screen.
The bios and toshiba drivers are up to date. I have searched the net and i see that this is a common problem.
    Any solutions???

Have you done all the obvious things ? Swipe from the side, devices, project ?
powerpoint also automatically switches on the second display when you start a presentation.
It works for me several times a week with an external projector, a monitor and occasionally I have played with it on a TV.
You can also connect it all up and go through the menus from the desktop under "screen resolution". There is a button for identifying an attached display.

  • I have a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, then I purchased 3 VGA adapters: a VGA to HDMI, VGA to Component, and VGA to RCA. When I hook them up to my TV (I've tried multiple TVs) they do not detect a display, even when I click Detect Displays.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a solution for this?  The only other Mini DP I found was a HDMI connection.  I want to make sure I can connect to not only TV's via HDMI, Component or RCA, but also projectors (some of which may be older requiring a Component or RCA connection).
    I'm using this Mini DisplayPort:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTA4NDU0NjA
These are the VGA Adapters I'm using:
    VGA to HDMI:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OLCHJ6
    VGA to Component:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P3Q0YW
    VGA to RCA:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Y7T5UU
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

None of the three lower adapters pictured in your post will do you any good with your MBP.
    1. The VGA-HDMI adapter does the reverse of what you want: it yields VGA output from HDMI input. The opposite is not possible; a VGA input does not contain all the information necessary to create an HDMI output. You'll have to get a direct mini-Displayport-to-HDMI adapter instead.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
    2. VGA-Component: Lots of posters here when the MDP-equipped MBs and MBPs first came out tried adapters like this one with no success. What does work with the MDP (and a VGA adapter) is a converter box like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Startech-Component-YPbPr-Video-Converter/dp/B000G6Y0S6
    3. VGA-Composite: This doesn't work with MBPs either. For Composite or S-Video output, you need a converter box like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/PC-To-TV-Video-Converter/dp/B001CJOLBW/ref=pd_cp_e_2
    or this:
    http://www.startech.com/AV/Converters/Video/High-Resolution-PC-VGA-to-TV-Convert er-with-Remote-Control~VGA2NTSCPRO
These converter boxes will work fine in combination with your Apple MDP-VGA adapter.

  • Mini Displayport to VGA Adapters Keep Braking

    Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem as me. I have managed to go through 3 Mini Displayport to VGA Adapters in a very short space of time. The last one only lasted two days. My Macbook Pro is only sat at a desk and there doesn't appear to be any significant strain on the cable or adapter.
I have tried using different vga cables and a different monitor but it is definatly the adapter.
I was wondering if the Mini Displayport could cause something to short out in the adapter itself.
I also have a Mini Displayport to HDMI cable going to my TV which has been working fine for ages.
I was wondering whether it is better to get a straight Mini Displayport to VGA cable instead of an adapter. I can't seem to find any sort ones (about 30cm) any suggestions?
    Cheers
    Dave

JK had a very good suggestion. Try using a different VGA cable.
If you try it and it doesn't work or if you don't have another to try with, you might want to consider exchanging it for another one at best buy, it is always possible that you got a bad one.

  • Device won't start, even after charging (WT8-B-102)

I recently bought a Toshiba WT8-B-102 and i have some problems with it.
First of all i couldn't install the BIOS update for some reason, but that isn't a huge problem for the tablet works fine
but now i can't start it anymore. yesterday i had the same problem, left the Tab alone for a while, (on the charger) and after that it didn't start/boot. half an hour later i tried again (after taking it of the charger) and then it started, but today it won't start at all. Even if i charge it for some hours, then try it again, try to start it while being charged, etc. This is not good right?
I also don't see some led burning or any other sign when i attach it to the charger. Any ideas or help guys?
    Thanks

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.

... I found an Win10 Intel platform driver v1.14 on the Lenovo website for the Thinkpad 10 tablet. Doesn't look as a dedicated Win 10 driver to me as it was already released as an WIn 8.1 driver before. This works pretty nice with the Encore as the hardware components are very similar. I removed the audio and GFX section out of the config file before starting the setup procedure as I do not want to overwrite the Dolby audio driver from Toshiba and the already installed Win10 graphics driver I found on the downloadcenter.intel.com website. Everything works nice and without any problems. Nevertheless, I wouldn't recomment this approach for the standard users out there. You need to know what you ar doing with this driver-mixture I'm pretty sure that Toshiba will release an updated platform driver pretty soon - but I don't expect significant improvements to my current configuration ... Bernd
