Encountered a problem error message!!!

It's been a couple of months, nothing has worked and my itunes has been, for the most part, unusable. I will uninstall itunes and quicktime, reinstall and itunes will work for about a hour and then it closes and I can't open it without receiving the "Needs to Close" message. Now, I uninstalled both, and it claims that there's a newer version of quicktime already installed, when really there isn't. So, itunes can't work at all without quicktime and I can't get it. So, 2 questions...
1)How can I get this supposed "newer quicktime" off my computer?
2)I'm pretty annoyed that my itunes doesn't consistantly work. How can I get this message from not coming up?

Scott Peiser,
Use this article to get a clean removal of iTunes and QuickTime:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
Then:
1) Empty your temp directory & restart
2) Cleanup Windows installer files using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from Microsoft
3) Prior to installing QuickTime or iTunes, disable any security, anti-virus, firewall, popup blocker, web acceleration, spyware, etc... software. These can interfere with software installations, csusing more difficulty getting updated.
4) Down & install the standalone version of QuickTime and test launch it
5) Install iTunes
You can see the instructions for these steps here:

Hope this helps,

Have been using it fine until yesterday when I tried to go onto it I received the message "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close". We have since de-installed both itunes and quicktime and re-installed both but I still keep getting this message. Help! What's gone wrong?

  • How to fix "Adobe RoboHelp 7 has encountered a problem" error?

I am using Adobe RoboHelp 7 to create WebHelp, with Windows XP. I haven't worked on my help project for about 10 days, and suddenly when I try to open the project I get this message: "Adobe RoboHelp 7 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Other help projects DO open, so it's something about this one. I went to the TechNote called "Troubleshoot system errors and freezes in RoboHelp 7 (Windows XP)" and followed its first steps: downloaded all the updates for RoboHelp 7, installed current Windows service packs (except for IE 8, which gave me a problem last time I tried to install it), and deleted temporary files. None of these solved the problem. Now I am defragmenting my disk, but I don't have much hope for that.
Can anyone help? I'm near the end of my project and am under time pressure to make some changes!
    Thank you!

It is very rare for a project not to open after renaming the CPD and when it does, the HHP is the fallback. I cannot recall a project failing to open from the HHP, albeit with some damage.
As Willam says, I think you are going to have to look at the article on my site.
Many files have names based on the project name. Are they all correctly named? What I am getting at is whether a filename has got out of sync.

i just got a new pc and trying to load my ipod and itunes once the disk was done and itunes was loaded i try to open it and i got this error "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close " i got that several times when i uninstall and reinstal itunes etc does anyone know how i can fix this

    hi Richard!
iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
the first thing we should check with one of those is a broken quicktime. does your quicktime currently launch? if it doesn't, let's try a careful standalone QT install. see:

  • How to fix "server problem" error message when trying to use PhoneGap build service.

I have a site that is now optimized for mobile devices and want to use the PhoneGap Build service in Dreamweaver CS6 to make a native app.  Unfortunately, I keep getting the "We seem to be having server problems." error message when I try to create a new project.  I did notice that the configuration file was created at the site root.  I've seen a few other similar threads on this, but no solution.  I've checked on any firewall issues (none) and know that the PhoneGap server is not down.  The problem is on my end.
    Thanks,
    Loren

Not an answer to the server problem, but I have posted the PhoneGap Build process here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4669054#4669054. It might help anyone still having problems.

  • It works!!! ITunes is now loaded!  For "...Encountered a problem" errors

After 4 days of working on this non stop, I have finally got it! Thanks to all of you posting the wonderful tips!
I will tell you what I did. I am not sure which of these steps was the trick, since I did this so many times. But there are two things that I did differently this last time, which I mention below. I think those did the trick!
    1) Under "Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows" on Apple Support for iTunes (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976) do ALL of the steps under "Completely Remove iTunes and QuickTime". Please note: For step #16, when it talks about removing files in C:/Windows/System32, make sure you remove folders AND files. The first time I did this, I only removed the Itunes, Ipod and Quicktime folders. I did not scroll all the way down to just the independent files, there were a few more Quicktime files there.
    2) Additionally, I went to My Computer, and went under C:/Program files and deleted the folders there too.
    3) (optional?) I wanted to at least get one program working right first (neither my iTunes or QT were working, I was getting the error "iTunes/Quicktime has encountered a problem..." So after I completed the above steps, I went to this site and downloaded QT by itself first, and made sure it was working properly before I proceeded. This may have had nothing to do with it, but wanted to share my exact steps that I did.
    4) Downloaded iTunes + Quicktime again. I THINK THIS NEXT PART WAS WHAT DID IT: This worked for someone else yesterday who posted it, so I tried this too. I think that, for whatever reason, this was a key. When you get to the part where it asks you what folder to load it into, instead of defaulting into C:/Program Files/iTunes, I installed it directly onto C. So, that would be C:/iTunes. I did the same for QT on step #3 above.
It now works, and my 10 yr old is a happy camper, and I get to tackle something else tomorrow, since I have spent 4 days on this! Thank you so much to all of you who posted tips to help!
    April

See my post on 12/27 entitled "It works!..." for a detailed description on the fix.

  • Upgrade/install/uninstall problems, error messages etc.

After upgrading to version 7 everything seemed to be fine for a while then out of the blue I got this message:
Error writing to file C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\ko.lproj\iPodHelpchm. Verify that you have access to that directory
I am an admin on this computer, hadn't made any changes lately.
After some searching online, I tried uninstalling... iTunes uninstalled but Quicktime is still causing problems. I get similar error messages (2330) when trying to uninstall quicktime.
Now I can't get either to reinstall or uninstall!
I'm really frustrated, version 6 worked great for me.
I get this error message when trying to delete the iTunes and quicktime folders from Program Files: "Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)"
The programs appear uninstalled except these folders cannot be deleted. I have opened the folders and deleted everything inside that I could delete without receiving the same error message... but I'm still left with files on my computer and still cannot reinstall the latest iTunes/quicktime properly.
This seems to be the step that is preventing any of the previously suggested fixes for my iTunes problems on this forum from working.
I've been watching and waiting on a fix for this for months. I finally switched to an iTunes alternative for windows users, but I do miss my iTunes. I used to shop the iTunes store frequently but after this I don't know... I'm ready to give up!
Does anyone have any new insight on this???

Error writing to file C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\ko.lproj\iPodHelpchm. Verify that you have access to that directory
2330s citing language resource folders (you seem to be having trouble with one of the Korean ones) are typically caused by damaged files, or disk damage in the area of those files. i'd lean towards the disk damage possibility given the "Cyclic redundancy check" message.
so first let's try running a chkdsk over your C drive. see:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? if so, do you still get the 2330 next time you try an install?

  • ITunes problem - error message

Okay, so I've had a new laptop and I've downloaded iTunes because I have an iPod and need everything to be agreeable. When I open iTunes, I get the error message that says, 'iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly'. I don't know what is causing this.
And also, I've been moving songs over from the desktop and when I try to authorise a song that I've purchased from the iTunes Music Store, it tries to access the Store and then I get the error message that says, 'We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try aagain'. I'm connected to thr internet fine, and can do everything else, but not just this. I can also access the iTunes Music store separately of this, just nor for track authorisation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Satellite 5200-903: cooling problem error message

few minutes after booting my Satellite 5200-903 (xp home sp1)an error message apears: "Problem with the cooling system, shut down your system and send it to the service" (it's a free translation from German..) I installed a temperature checking tool, the software shows cpu temperature of about 60C, however I do not hear the fan..
    Can someone help?

    Hi
You have a good chance that it's only a cooling module.
Generally such warning message appears because the CPU cooling module cannot cool the CPU properly or it doesn't work.
However, the best way is to contact the Toshiba service partner in your country. Ask the guys for the opinion and I'm sure you will get a proper answer.

  • RIM Twitter for BlackBerry Internal Twitter server problem error message

I have had this issue previously, it went away and now it's back; and can I remember how I fixed it... no.
    I have a Bold 9700 running 5.0.0.680 and Twitter for Blackberry 1.0.1.7
Since updating to 5.0.0.680 I have been unable to login to Twitter via RIM's Twitter application. I receive the error message "Internal Twitter server problem."
    I have tried the following to resolve;
Multiple battery pulls - no change
Flash back to 5.0.0.586 - no change
Flash back to 5.0.0.442 - no change
After flashing I have performed a full security wipe of the device to be sure its clean.
I am able to use UberTwitter and other social networking applications without any issues.
My BlackBerry is controlled via my companies BES. The Server version is 5.0.1 and I can confirm that the Value-added application policy is installed and has 'Disable organizer data access for social networking applications' set to No and 'Disable RIM Value-Added Applications' set to No for the policy applied to my device.
I am also one of the Administrators of this server.
What I would like to know is how to solve this issue. A search of the internet revels a number of similar issues, but these where apparently down to an issue with Twitter not the software. As I am able to access Twitter with no issues via other clients and see no issues reported on the status feed from Twitter I have run out of ideas.
I have also fired up a number of the BB simulators on a development machine and have been able to access Twitter via a simulated BlackBerry without an issues; making me think this is either a BES, device, or carrier issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hey Mark,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Are you still having trouble connecting to Twitter for BlackBerry?
Since you're on a BES just to do process of elimination, I would suggest performing a reset to factory so that will remove the IT policy.  Follow the instructions in this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB18998
Then test out logging into Twitter, if successful then we know it is it policy related.  If you still receive the same error, let me know.
