I have been getting this error for the past couple of weeks. What does it mean? itunes 10..3
tia
edAfter trying a few other remedies, the tech at Apple Care suggested I reinstall Lion.
Here's the article:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mchlp1599.html
I have not had the error message since, even after importing about a dozen CDs and burning a couple playlists.
This seems to be the fix. -
When I synch my ipod touch I get the following message "The Ipod touch cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found". Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it? this error occurs at the point it is syncing the photos - all other things seem to be syncing fine.
Hello sanbrunostew,
Try trashing your iPod's Photo Cache. See this article for information on where to find your iPod's Photo Cache.

thanksi am most definitely NOT doing down self-teachers (see further down!)... I have the utmost respect to those who have taught themselves complex things successfully and can make a living out of it (I don't think I would have been able to teach myself java froms scratch!)... that's fair play in the job market as far as I am concerned!
Self-teaching and carpet-bagging are 2 totally different things... I am talking about the latter! Maybe I am too quick to assume everyone is a clueless money grabber, but its just the state of the market - fact is it wouldn't be like this if all those who are not truly into IT for what it is had all jumped on another bandwagon (maybe pyramid selling... or buy to rent property), but thats immaterial now anyway.
As far as only being cool if you forge ahead solo - I wouldn't expect anyone to learn anything in isolation. I am a regular forum contributor, but my pet hate is people who don't do their bit first. Maybe its just my old school work ethic, but I think there should be a substantial element of self-teaching in anything you might choose to learn. Books, Library, tutorials, google, forum archives etc etc are information resources that will answer 100% of your questions (if you know where to look!), and you will have the satisfaction of having sorted it alone. BUT if you have tried all of these, and failed then thats ok - you have done your bit!! Thats when the forums come into their own, and any question that emerges like this will be welcomed. I am not being judgemental about 'good' or 'bad' questions (there are no such things) but its just that this is kind of how the forums are meant to be used, in my opinion.
Maybe I am just too traditional, but it does annoy me when I see the same questions asked over and over (CLASSPATH springs to mind) when the answers are not even difficult to find, as they are all here ad nauseum in the forums! Thats when I tend to get sarcastic, and it gets misconstrued as being unhelpful to newbies. It's just exasperating to see people who don't have strongly internalised values about education, learning and working.
OP, if I have you wrong then I am truly sorry, you just exhibited 'the traits' for a second back there... -
i compressed a file which is "com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501" to zip still couldn't open it and it is not possible to permanently delete it, so what is it? which folder does it belong to? how could i have gotten it?
My guess by the name is that it is a database of image capture notifications for the first user of the Mac (501).
If it is a database, it would likely open with sqlite3. If you don't know anything about databases, then just opening it with sqlite3 won't get you far. -
iphoto message is "The volume for this photo cannot be found." I can see the pictures but cannot move them?
The "volume" is referring to the picture's location, i.e. hard drive, etc. In any case there is an iPhoto forum where those experts are. Post there.

Everytime i hit the "Check for Updates" button a message pops up and says " the ipod software update server cannot be contracted" What does this mean and hoiw do i fix it?
Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem -
I cannot eject my new ipod classic after sync with i-tunes on my pc due, it states, to open files being used by another application. What does this mean? How can I get my ipod to eject?
If it's a one-time "glitch," you can try restarting your computer with the iPod still connected. Try ejecting again after the restart.
If the problem recurs, you may have a process running (other than iTunes) that is accessing the iPod's storage. When connected, the iPod's "disk" is like other mounted volumes. This process may be some type of utility that continously monitors your mounted volumes for security reasons, such as to prevent access by malware.
If you know of such a program that you have running in the background, there may be a setting to exclude your iPod's disk. -
After downloading songs to my Playlists, when I try to
sync the music to my IPod, an error msge says
"The IPod cannot be ejected because it contains
files that are in use by another application".
What does this mean??- Terminate the sync
- Reboot the computer
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try again. If still problems try:

I have a Nikon D600 and D800 and I shoot everything in Raw. I use Photoshop Elements 9 for processing but I have been unable to convert any RAW files to open in PSE. Says unable to parse the file. What does this mean and how do I fix it?
Since pse 9 can only use up to camera raw 6.5 and the d600 needs at least 7.3 and the d800 needs at least 6.7, you can use the
8.6 adobe dng converter to convert those files to dng copies, which then pse 9 should open.

I'm trying to download my Master CS6 onto a new hard drive because my old one crashed and I keep getting a message saying " Cannot write the file" or "I don't have permission to access the requested resource." ? What does this mean?
Yes- it is a Mac. I went through adobes system requirements and re- downloaded supportive software. The notice seems to happen near the end of the down load with the messages above. I'll look into your suggestion. Thank you- appreciated.

I keep getting this error code while trying to import a cd to my itunes: "Error occurred while converting the file. The disc you are attempting to use is full. removing files and emptying the recycle bin will free up additional space." What does this mean?
Well it probably means exactly what it says... How much free space is there on your hard drive where the iTunes Media folder resides? I believe there is also an obscure bug that can occur when software doesn't read the true value of the free space properly, and the workaround is, perversely, to duplicate some content so that with less actual free space the software in question perceives it as more. I've no idea if iTunes is affected by such a bug.
