Encrypt with password- Help

I created a pdf, used Advanced/Security/Encrypt with Password. I did not provide a password.. Acrobat must have. How do I find or fix?What did acrobat use to create the password? I was expecting a prompt. Next thing I know its protected with an unknown pw? Help.

It is looking for a 'permissions password'. I did not provide one. My bad here it seems.

It's impossible not to enter a password when applying protection using that menu item. Acrobat wouldn't make one up and will not accept a blank entry on the dialog box.
Are you sure you didn't apply a previously-created Security Policy, in which you chose to store the password inside the policy?

Girlfriend's computer can't connect to Express network with password-help!

Hi, first post here so please be gentle with me!
I have an Airport Express router which is working fine with my MBP running Leopard. Last week, my girlfriend got a new white MacBook but this new computer is unable to join my network when it is password-protected - I just keep on getting a message saying 'connection timeout' when I try and join the network. It works fine when I remove the password protection for the network, but this is hardly ideal because my network is then completely unsecured and anyone can join (I live in a block of flats). Also, whilst password protection is in place the problematic computer cannot find the Airport Express using Airport Utility, so I would be unable to make any changes if my computer was unavailable. I would be grateful for any guidance or help to resolve these issues as I want my network secure again!
Finally, I've noticed throughout my experimentation with security settings that my internet speeds are noticably improved when my wireless network is unsecure - has anyone else noticed this, and is the problem fixable?

I've downloaded Air Radar and our wireless network is on a separate channel to everyone else's and is apparently mostly running OK (although at one point last night it totally went dead and I just turned everything off in frustration). I've tried to simply put everything back to how it was before the problem started by making the network open and unprotected, which (after unplugging the modem and the Airport Express overnight and starting again this morning) seems to have helped on my computer, even though the internet is running slower than it was last week when everything was fine for both computers.
However, my girlfriends computer still won't connect to the internet. Last night it appeared to be because Airport on her computer had a self-assigned IP address which prevented the computer connecting to the internet - today I have turned off the Firewall and flushed the ipfw cache and although initially I could join the network (although not access the internet) it has just dropped the connection. Network diagnostics won't help because when it scans it doesn't appear to find any networks - just keeps scanning indefinitely.
I'm getting to the point now where I'm thinking of just formatting the hard disk and reinstalling the OS and starting again, unless anyone can offer any better suggestions?

Encrypt with password requires confirmation of permissions password. It used to only have to be typed in once.

I am support for a user who has inherited an already configured Acrobat X. This user when applying password protection now gets a second popup asking for "Confirmation of Permissions Password". This apparently is new and only started happening this week. Her complaint is that it doubles the amount of time to protect ECN Documets.

You are always asked to confirm your password a second time. This is to confirm you typed the password you meant to. Otherwise you could encrypt a file without having the correct password.

I have been able with your lead to find the password I need , and to have install happen
however - when I then go to the website to download the Pdf document I need I get a screen with the big red adobe icon that says to complete and down load this document I must launch adobe reader a dn sign the terms of agreement , close browser and reopen.
but thatscren has no choice buttons whatsoever, I cannot find anywhere a adobe reader image to launch - been into launch pad , preferences etc.
so now the loop is the pdf document and the adobe screen saying I must do terms of agreement
like is this Kafka like or what ...

How can I retrieve the password hint of an external drive encrypted with FileVault 2?

I'm running on 10.7.3, I have an external HDD that is fully encrypted with FileVault 2. When encrypting an external drive, FileVault 2 doesn't provide a recovery key, but it gives you the opportunity to give a hint at the time you enter the password. My question is: how can I get this hint?
I'm asking because I can't mount the drive anymore. I keep getting prompted to enter the password, and although I believe I'm sure what the password is, it keeps getting refused. The weird thing is that I have never been asked this password because the drive has always been automatically mounted after reboots, I guess because the password was in my Keychain. I have no idea why it no longer auto-mounts and none of the passwords I tried worked.
In Disk Utility, when I tried to "verify" the locked volume, Disk Utility logs an error in system.log with no other user visible action. I filed a bug with Apple about this (#11286871) but I'm still waiting to hear back from them. The error logged is:

Even if you succeed with the difficult instructions to do this, if you are running Mavericks (10.9.x) on your Mac, count on it to start over with a whole new backup of your Mac, so you will have two separate backup files for the Mac on the Time Capsule.
Realistically, few of us ever need to go back months or years to retrieve a file from Time Machine. My recommendation would be to keep the external hard drive around for a few months until you have a good backup history established for the Mac....and then delete the backups from the drive and use it as a spare hard drive.

Sorry no, if you don't knnow the encrypted password, then you can't use that backjup.

No, it does not. It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer. The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.

Encrypt sensitive with password and calling sub pkgs

Hi we run 2012 enterprise and r introducing a db2 connection that "allows saving password".
We run from the file system (not the catalog) and face a challenge.
The default prot level on the SUB PACKAGE that has the db2 connection (only such connection right now) prevents our prod credentials from making the connection because its a different user than the one that created the sub pkg.
Encrypt sensitive with password seems a more strategic alternative but I dont know if the param (I think its called "decrypt") on the dtexec command line that allows passing a password at run time applies to just the parent pkg or all subs also.
I dont want to delay validation. I wouldnt even mind changing the xml connection string (by entering pswd in whatever syntax is necessary) using notepad but dont know what issues that will cause.
I wouldnt mind having someone logon and "re" save the pkg using the credentials of our prod userid and choosing the default prot level instead.
I also wonder if none of the other pkgs (including master) dont have any sensitive data, can their prot level defaults be left alone?
Can the community comment?

If you are having sensitive info (passwords for conn strings etc) in our packages, the best way is to change the protection level to "encrypt sensitive with password" and then provide the password.
When we schedule a job or exec the parent package, the child packages are called automatically.

i'm a newbie to Cryptography...and i know that this question have been asked MILLIONS of time...but i'm going to ask it again. i searched through the forum, and i didn't find anything useful...but:
i want to write a program to encrypt the password i type in the JPasswordField...save it out to a Properties file...when i'm trying to authentication, get the password...decrypt the password...and authentication.
i pretty much have the JPasswordField and Properties file done...i just need the encryption and decryption left.
can someone please help??? please post example code...please don't suggest hashcode!!!
