Encrypted DB2E 8.2.1a on PDA WM2003SE

Hi all,
I am trying to install the encrypted db2e version 8.2.1a (which is recommended by SAP) on a PDA with Windows Mobile 2003 SE with SAP MI 2.5 SP 18.
This is not working. It is downloaded, the client installer pops up and when I press start the following message is displayed: "installation failed: Version check for ap...".
I have also tested this DB2E on the laptop, with Windows XP and SAP MI 2.5 SP 18. On the laptop it works.
Does anyone know why this DB2E 8.2.1a is not working on my PDA?

There was a change in the DB2e archive for 8.2.1a shipped by SAP. Earlier, if you open the install.xml which is present in the DB2e archive, you would notice an entry called "MOBILEENGINE_JSP". This entry created a problem in installation in MI AWT Client and installation failed on AWT. Hence inorder to resolve this issue, the latest release of 8.2.1a contains an entry called "%MI_FRAMEWORK%" instead of "MOBILEENGINE_JSP". This change is done to dynamically detect the whether the MI client framework is AWT or JSP. Hence to resolve this issue you have to install SP18 Patch 02 ( Note no.982495).
Steps for solution:
1. Assign and install SP18 Patch02 to the client
2. Once installation of Patch02 is successful, assign and install DB2e 8.2.1a archive.

Now how do I check if its present on my client, How can I see its working, Where I can see the data and tables in it...
Also, Is there something like SQL Studio (which is used for MaxDB...) for DB2E ?

Hi Ankur,
Once you have deployed all the components on to your MI Client you can see the same in info tab..MI Client HOme Page->Info.
Also you can check the data in data folder at following path of your MI Installation
C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\data:->webconsole installation
C:\Program Files\SAP\MobileInfrastructure\data:->setup package installation.
you should see the files with name like DSY_iM15_CZ_MAM_931_TOP etc ..to check the data for your applicatgion syncBo's.
also you can check the addons at following path to check if DB2E is deployed or not.
C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\addons
C:\Program Files\SAP\MobileInfrastructure\addons
You cannot see the data if you are using the encrypted DB2E.

DB2E 9.1.1 needed to be installed on our PDA

We are using a PDA with OS - Windows Mobile 6.0 & It supports only DB2E 9.1.1.
Can somebody give a link from where it can be downloaded?
And if anybody already has it, can it be forwarded it in email?

(Our current approach: We have downloaded Db2e 9.11 from partner world which doesnt give a proper .zip file which we get for 8.22 version. It just gives a lot number of files from which we have to use the appropriate ones and need to be packaged properly.
On the model of the .zip file of 8.22, We are trying to create a zip file for 9.11 version using the appropriate .dlls, .jar files etc.
Then we create an sda out of it and deploy it to your client and the install just goes on and on forever)

DB2E installation in PDA

HI all
I am working on SP15 Client and now I want u user DB2E .
I have a setup file of SP13 and I need to upgrade to SP15 by appling the patches of the client as ADDons ,
MY question is
after Installing SP13 client --> Apply DB2E patch first --->and then Apply patched for SP15 to the Client using web console will this work .

Hi Sam,
Please upgrade to SP15 first and then deploy the DB2e addons through the client installer. The reason is that the deployment of the DB2e addons will make entries into the MobileEngine.config file, so you need the SP15 deployerd first.
Please also note that until SP13, the SAP DB2e certified version is 8.2. But from SP14 onwards, it is DB2e 8.2.1. So you may want to use the appropriate DB2e version with your SP15 client.

What does it mean when I deselect Encryption and Compression before backing up my PDA?

I had little choice if I wanted to backup my data on a memory card.
I just don't know if I've compromised my Palm m515.

I've attached a really short example that does something like what you're talking about. It just compares the user's username and password a pre-determined username and password and then "logs the user in" based on that comparison. Like Greycat said, you probably want to store this username and password info in some sort of file on the PDA that's in an encrypted format for both security and flexibility of your application.

Error while running the mobile webdynpro application in PDA

HI All,
I have created an online mobile Web Dynpro application. We have deployed the application in the portal and its working fine.
Now I am trying to run the applicaiton in a PDA via the portal link and it is giving error.
Scripting Alert:
An error occured while starting the iView.Application
/Webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pb/PageBuilder;jsessionid=(hostname_systemID_system Number) Will run with a wrong client window ID! Do not continue Please report this problem to your administrator.
These are my PDA configuration :
PDA with OS = WM 6.0
Crème = CrEme329_ARM_CE42_PPC.exe
DB2E 9.22
Please provide the solution or hints to solve the problem.

But I got the same results :-
1. The button is not working.
2. I cannot select any particular order as the List box is displayed like a box with all the orders visible in the screen.
3. and obviously the date field is not working and I'll try with the drop down.
Can you please suggest what else should I try.

Problems to configure db2e in a mi client .cab

Our customer has a MI Client installer (CAB) customized and he has requested to put DB2e in it.
I guess I´m in the right way, put i´m facing a problem. When the MI initialize, the DB2e standard tables aren´t created. It seems that some DB2e script isn´t being executed and I don´t have any error in JSCPOUT.txt.
I installed a SAP MI Client standard, upload the DB2e add-on and then I copied and pasted some archieves that in my opinion must be in the customized package. The DB2e structure that I configured is:
- MIlibdb2ejdbc.jar
- "MIlibdb2ejdbc.jar;" into creme_listOfJars.txt and listOfJars.txt
- binagent.dll, MIDEVPROF.dll, NATSTART.DLL, ppcsetup.dll

try to do the following :
- uninstall the MI from the mobile
- delete the MI folder
- restart the Mobile device
- install the MI again
- restart the mobile device
- make the first synchronization
- assign the DB2E as a mobile component to the mobile device
- do synchronization again
if you got any problems ... tell me which version of MI and Db2e are you using ?

How to install Mobile 7.1 client in a PDA.

we have developed a sample application on PDA and tested in emulator.
It worked fine.
We have to deploy the application (.sda files) tro PPC 2003 device.
For that we have to install Mobile client.
What all files are reuired to install Mobile client in a PPC 2003 device
What all .CAB files we require for this?

Software & Files Required Before Deploying Application on Hand Held device:
-     MS Active Sync 4.1 or Above
-     CrE_ME
-     DB2e.CAB file
-     pda_eswt_container.CAB
-     pda_runtime_wince.CAB
STEP-1
Access MS Active Sync 4.5. MS Active Sync 4.5 can be downloaded from internet.
STEP-2
In HH Device, use following link:
Start --> File Explorer --> My Device --> My Documents
In My Documents all the CAB Files copied through computer will be visible. Install them in the following sequence.
-     CrE_ME: Its framework which is basis for loading container on HH Device
-     DB2E
-     PDA Runtime
-     PDA_eswt_container: Its container for OCA application
STEP-3:     After All the installations re-start HH Device, by Switching Off the device & switch-on the device.

We have customized ZMAU and after checking the u2018Add JSP as complied classesu2019 u2013 We are deploying that application on a PDA with OS = WM 6.0

The application is successfully deployed. When we click on the application name, The Page not found error is there.
But when I access this link in the explorer in PDA: http://localhost:4444/ZMAU/mam_start.jsp,
The application MAU home page is displayed. When we click on Technical Object Management, we can see the list of Equipments, But then clicking on one particular Equipment No, we get the following error

I'm looking for a trial version of DB2e V8.2.4 for Windows Mobile 5.0 on PDA (I installed an emulator on my PC) because we have to use Mobile Infrastructure 7.0 and I would like to try it on my emulator, but I don't find the installation files on IBM site and the installation guide. Can somebody help me?

You can download trail version of DB2e from the following link.

If you want use DB2e licensed version you need to get license key information from SAP.Contact your SAP Service Agent for more details. Then they will enable you the above said link from where you can download the DB2e.

PDA could connect to old HomeHub, not new HomeHub2...

I like to use my PDA (HP iPAQ, WM5) in bed to stream stuff to listen to from my PC. On my old HomeHub it was no problem. With my new HomeHub2 I can't seem to connect unless I switch the security off completely. Any suggestions for settings that might work?
The settings available on my PDA are:
Authentication: Open, Shared, WPA, WPA-PSK (I would guess that it has to be the last one).
Data Encryption: WEP, TKIP (I would guess the latter).
My HomeHub2 is on the default settings. I guess I don't have to go through all the other options, anyone that can help will know what they are.

1st Solution - Change the Wireless Mode on your router from 802.11n to 802.11g and see if that works. If it doesn't switch it back to 802.11n.
2nd Solution - Change the Security type on your hub to WPA or WPA-PSK. Do not use WEP because it is easily hackable.

School network uses WEP with 802.1x Encryption How do I connect?

My University uses WEP with IEEE 802.1x Encryption with Protected EAP. There are two wireless networks I can connect to and they both use the same security settings. In order to connect on my laptop, I have to enter an User name and Password. I have to use the same user name and password to log on with my iPod touch. The problem is that while both school networks show up on my touch, I can not connect to either because I am only prompted for a password when I need to enter both a user name and password. As far as I can tell, this is not possible on my touch.
Is there a correct way to do this? Is this feature even supported by the iPod touch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How run MSR for PDA through NWDS

Hi all,
I'm working with MI 7.0 . I have installed NWDS on my PC and imported MSR.war application for PDA. In my PocketPC emulator I have installed the Client MI, CrEme and DB2e. How can I configure NWDS in order to run MSR in NWDS? What steps or settings I have to do in NWDS? I set in window->preference the MI home folder after having installed MI Client (for Win32) but I don't understand how run the application considering that MSR has to work on PDA. Help me please.

I would add a new column to use as an indication that a particular row contains the string in question, then sum the column.
