Encrypted email in iOS / exchange domain

hi,
i'm using encrypted email time to time on my PC using outlook 2012 and a smartcard.... fine
my iphone is set up with this exchange account... fine
I was not able to read encryted email (normal!) untill i've exported my certificate to the iphone.... good !
but now:
when the certificate is active: i cannot distinguish encrypted email from non-encrypted ones; and if I forward these encrypte email, there are not crypted anymore...
so if I activate s/mime in the exchange account on ios, then all my email all encrypted....
how can I toggle easily between encrypted and encrypted ? as I can do it easily on my PC outool ???
I don't beleive it' s not possible on iOS
thanks
cyril

well to solve the musti system problems you can simply use this apps :
http://vladalexa.com/apps/ios/txtcrypt/
you can only encrypt texts but very easy to use and no certificate problems to set ...

  • Encryption emails leaving local Exchange 2003 are blank

I inherited a network with Exchange 2003 where the client is trying to get email encryption going with the outside.  They have email certs and the certs work for digitally signing emails, whether they send to internal or external recipients, and for
digitally encrypting emails when they send to internal recipients only.
However, when we send an encrypted email to an external address, the body is blank, the email does not appear to be encrypted, and it shows that there is an attachment (smime.p7m) which, I believe, is the encrypted content.  These same recipients work
with encrypted emails all of the time, so it is not them.
Any help you can provide would be enormously appreciated - I am new to Exchange administration and it doesn't seem like the previous tech was too good at it, either.
    Thank you!

If the size of the message about what you'd expect it to be when it's sent from your organization?
If ESMTP is used to send the message, and the SIZE keyword is present on the MAIL FROM command, you can find that information in your SMTP protocol log. You can also use a network monitor (e.g. Wireshark) to capture the session and reconstitute the
message to have a look at it -- if it's not being sent using an encrypted session.
You may be falling afoul of the old "message sent in RTF" problem. Try sending the message in plain text or HTML and see if the results are different.

  • Sending encrypted emails from the iPad is not working

I can't get sending encrypted emails working on my iPad3 running iOS 8.0.2
Let me explain what I did:
    1. I created S/MIME certificates for 2 email addresses on my iMac in Keychain Access. One email address exists only on the iMac the other only on the iPad.
    2. I set "When using this certificate" to "Always Trust" in both certificates.
    3. I exported 1 S/MIME certificate (p12) and installed it on the iPad. Then I deleted this certificate and its private&public keys in iMac Keychain Access
    4. I exchanged public certificates between the 2 devices. I installed one certificate in iMac Keychain Access and the other in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles.
    5. On the iMac in the iPad certificate I set "When using this certificate" to "Always Trust"
    6. I tested whether I can send and receive signed and/or encrypted emails
    Results:
    1. From the iMac I can send signed and/or encrypted emails to the iPad.
On the iPad I can read the encrypted emails. The signature is not trusted
    2. On the iPad I can send signed messages to the iMac. On the iMac the signature is trusted.
I cannot send encrypted emails from the iPad to the iMac. The iPad doesn't know about the public certificate in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles
So much for the straight forward part. Now it gets a bit more complicated and confusing.
    1. I deleted the iMac certificate in the iPad/Settings/General/Profiles. Then in iPad Mail I opened the signed mail coming from the iMac.
I viewed the untrusted certificate in Mail and installed it. From this point on all signed emails from the iMac are trusted.
Strangely the by this method installed certificate doesn't appear in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles.
Furthermore I still cannot send encrypted messages to the iMac. This certificate installation seems to be used only to check trust worthiness of the signature.
Installing on top the iMac public certificate in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles doesn't enable to send encrypted messages from the iPad either.
To be sure that this problem relates to the iPad certificate management and is not related to an error by me I did the following:
    1. I transferred a p12 file for a certificate that I created in my iMac to a PC running Windows7.
    2. I transferred a p12 file plus its public key (.pem) that I created in my iMac to another iMac into Keychain Access. (I have not tested if the pem is needed).
    3. On the other iMac and the PC I made sure that the certificates are trusted.
On the PC that means in the Certificate Manager the p12 needs to be in the "Personal" folder and in the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" folder.
The public keys need to be in the "Trusted People" folder and the "Other People" folder. One can just copy/paste the certificates.
    4. In both cases I deleted the certificate and public/private keys on my iMac.
    5. I exchanged public certificates between the devices.
    6. I tested exchanging signed and/or encrypted emails between my iMac and the PC and my iMac and the other iMac.
    Result:
    1. I can send signed and/or encrypted emails to the other iMac and the PC
    2. The PC and the other iMac trust the signature from my iMac and can read the encrypted emails
    3. My iMac can read encrypted emails from the PC and the other iMac
    4. My iMac trusts emails with signatures from the PC and the other iMac.
Everything is working as it should.
After the above test I wanted to see whether I can set up encrypted email exchange between the iPad and the PC. Strangely iPad Mail recognized the public certificate from the PC installed in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles and allowed me to send an encrypted email to the PC. However, on the PC I was unable to read the encrypted email. And the other way around, encrypted emails send from the PC to the iPad cannot be read on the iPad.
My conclusion from all this testing is that iPad mail encryption is still "under construction".

I was able to resolve the above described problem to some degree. Setting up sending and receiving encrypted emails between iOS and OSX I have working.
What is still not working is reading encrypted emails on the iPad/iOS8 received from Windows 7 PC. And sending encrypted emails to Windows 7 PC.
The details about how I solved part of the problem are described here.

  • Email encryption limits on iOS 5 ?

    Hello All,
At this time, i'm in a test phase of "E-mail Encryption with iOS 5" ... and i need your experiences/feedback about.
First, small description about my environment:
    -Active Directory Domain,
    -Exchange 2010 SP1 RU2 server,
    -MSFT CA server.
We are using Iphone 4 as mobile device for our employes which are synchronising there email on it.
In an other side, certifcat are deployed and installed to Outlook 2010 for email encryption.
Both system are running fine for a long time ago.
Monday, my boss challenge me : i have to mixe the 2 system --> email encryption on Mobile Device.
    Let's go ...
    - Export certificat (as .pfx files from IE with private key, etc..) = DONE
    - Install certificat on Iphone (by sending it by mail or creating new profile with iPCU tools) = DONE
    - Configuring email profile on Device (using SMIME + encryption ) = DONE
Last step ... do some test !
    1) create new encrypted email : OK
    2) read encrypted email on device: OK
    Easy ..... but :
    3) create email with a picture (from Camera Roll) as attachment and send it with encryption : non OK
--> email is send as non encrpyted .. and picture is not showned in outlook
4)read encrypted email with attachment ( send from outlook 2010) : non OK
--> it seems thaht my echange server is no more accpeting encrypted email ... ah bon ??!
5)forward a email with attchament (.pdf) as encrypted email to my collegue : non OK
--> email is send but is not encrpyted and attach files dissapears ...
A this time, i can ONLY read encrpyted email and create a new one but i can't working with encrypted email.
What about attachment ? forward ? etc...

  • Where I can find the logs in Exchange that I can check or see if our mail server accepted the emails from a certain domain.

Good day, I would like to know where I can find the logs in Exchange that I can check or see if our mail server accepted the emails from a certain domain. The problem is we can receive emails
from other domains like yahoo, gmail etc but from a specific domain we cannot receive emails from them. I checked the whitelist of our Exchange and that domain is currently listed.

  • Any way to see ios exchange email user picture like in outlook on my iphone?

Any way to see ios exchange email user picture like in outlook on my iphone?

There are 2 ways that the contacts are being pulled down to your phone/tablet with Exchange.  Your personal contacts (those created in Outlook) will pull down any picture that you have uploaded to it (be cautious of the file size on these as the initial sync will take a long time to pull these down) - and it appears nicely for caller ID and such.
If you are talking about the Global Address Book lookup - this is a setting that is in both Exchange and AD that could be preventing this.  Our company has turned this off for privacy concerns - and they have restricted the size limits on the pictures (this was overloading some of the other collaboration clients for those that had numerous people in their groups - like Lync or SharePoint).
We have suggested that people who want pictures of co-workers create a personal contact card for them and attach them there.  We are using Exchange 2010 SP3 in this scenario.

  • How do I use outlook digital id's to read encrypted email?

I'm strugging with this one. I have an exchange account that makes use of digital ID's to encrypt email using MS Digifal ID's. Is there a location or feature on the iPhone4 where I can use the imported ID to let me read email that's been encrypted with s/mime on the iphone4?

OR... *sorry" is there a third party application that I can put on the iPhone4 to allow me to do this?

LiveCycle does not handle signed or encrypted emails out of the box.
You could develop a component to do this, or you could get someone to develop it for you.

  • Which models store encrypted email?

The IT department where I work claims that only 3G and 3GS iPod touch models can be used to access their email system (MS Exchange via Activesync) because those are the only models that support "encryption at rest". They say that encryption at rest means that the data is stored in an encrypted format.
I can understand why they would want the data to be encrypted, in case that the iPod was lost, but seems to me that this would be a function of the OS version, not the hardware. Can anyone tell me if those models really have this encryption capability that the other models do not? I have not been able to find any information about this.

Thank you for the link. It answered my question, but not in the way you state. Page 9 of the Enterprise Deployment Guide says:
The Exchange policy to require device encryption (RequireDeviceEncryption) is supported on iPhone 3GS, and on iPod touch (Fall 2009 models with 32 GB or more). iPhone, iPhone 3G, and other iPod touch models do not support device encryption and will not connect to an Exchange Server that requires it.
So I guess the IT guys are right.

  • Encrypting email?

I have S/MIME working fine for encrypted/signed email messages sent from my imac (10.8) to my iphone 5 (latest IOS).
    No problem.
I have GPG Tools on my imac.
I have a free comodo email cert (now on my imac and my iphone (both keys)).
However, I can't send S/MIME encrypted/signed emails from my iphone to my imac.
    Not sure why.
When I open a new email form on the iphone, it says Encrypted at the top.
As soon as I choose a To email address (even my own, the one tied to the cert), it changes to Not Encrypted.
    Does anybody have any clues?
    Comodo does not.
    However, maybe this is relevant:
On the iphone, in the Profile area, under Settings>General, for the comodo cert for my email account, it says NOT TRUSTED.
It was installed 1/1/2014, and it is definitely comodo's cert.
Again, I have no trouble decrypting email, but cannot encrypt email on the iphone.
    Thanks.

  • Cannot open encrypted email

    Hi guys,
I have an issue with one employee only (unfortunately she's a head of HR..) in an big Exchange 2007 organisation:
When another (random) employee send encrypted email to the HR manager with desktop Outlook, she can't open the message and get this error message:
"Can't open this item. Your Digital ID name can not be found by the underlying security system."
HR manager can open encrypted mail from any sender, when sender sent from OWA (not from Outlook).
But it's depend on sender too: another sender can send good encrypted mail to the HR manager from Outlook.
I checked HR manager certification on AD, she has only one certification and it's perfect.
I tried delete the SSL cache on clients IE, it's not solved the problem.
    Have you any idee?
Can I check public key of recipients that outlook use for encryption or debug the encryption process?
    Regard,
    Gabor

    Hi,
Sending and viewing encrypted email messages requires both sender and recipient to share their digital ID (digital ID: Contains a private key that stays on the sender's computer and a certificate (with a public key). The
certificate is sent with digitally signed messages. Recipients save the certificate and use the public key to encrypt messages to the sender.), or public key certificate. This means that you and the recipient each must send the other a digitally signed
message, which enables you to add the other person's certificate to your Contacts. You can’t encrypt email messages without a digital ID.
A recipient without the corresponding private key will see this message when he try to open the encrypted item.
Please try to clear the auto-complete list and publish the certificate again to check the result.
In addition, please check this kb, and follow the suggestions in it:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258527
Although this Kb is for Outlook 2000, some information can also apply to later version of Outlook.

  • Config OES/sendmail to forward email from/to Exchange Server

    Hi
I have installed an OES on a Red Hat ES 3.
But on my network i have a Exchange Server that send/receive all emails. And i cannot change here nothing(company rules). Now what i need to do? I need to config the Linux sendmail to relay on the Exchange Server(the exchange is now configured relay on Linux) to forward the emails that i need.
I only need this to one email account e.g [email protected] The Oracle Email Server is running, but i need to config the Linux to forward the email to the Exchange Server, and go to outside. Also i need that receiving an email to [email protected] that my Linux receive this email from the Exchange Server.
I have configured the sendmail.cf like Oracle says on the Administrator’s Guide manual. I have add the ip and name of the Exchange on /etc/mail/access to relay. But still i cant send emails outside. If i test the sendmail -v testuser, and all says ok. I have tested telnet domain 25, and all went ok.
I think the only problem is forward the oes to exchange to forward outside
    Any help
    Many thanks
    Thank you
    Jail

    Hi andreas
Yes i also think that it maybe resolved by an alias and forwarding
Th COM is the domain in the OES is the com default. Is this domain that you referring?
The company domain that is in the OES(e.g xpto.com) is the same that is in the Exchange. Do you think this will be a problem? Must i create one like oes.xpto.com? To work with the OES?
I have created a relay on the access file, but is this ok? Or must i need change anything else? Mean while i will check that url
And yes i can connect to the Exchange on port 25 from the RH
Since i have several user/account created on the OES, the only think that i did not understand yet is how can they receive any email?
The fax@domain was a example. But i can collect all outside emails from that account and with some rules forward to any other OES account? I think this is possible? Or this is the hard way to configure the OES?
    Thank You
    Jail

  • How to attribute a cert to an email address without exchange ?

I have a few certs I created myself to encrypt my emails.
With the iPhone configuration tool I successfully import my certs as signed certs (creation of a profile with reference), nevertheless I cannot attribute the cert to an email account even if this account is in the same profile and I cannot read my encrypted emails.
It seems that the option is only available for exchange accounts (authentification informations). Any Idea to solve this problem ?
