Encrypted Maxl creating parition on Unicode applications

Hello,
I have an issue with encrypted MaxL scriptfailing to create a linked partition on Unicode Essbase applications.
If I use a non-encrypted MaxL (.mxl) the parition is created successfully.
If I usean encrypted MaxL (.mxls) the partitioin creation fails with this error:
ERROR - 1241162 - Unable to create partitions on Unicode servers from non-Unicode clients.
Other task run successfully in the mxls file (loading data, running calcs).  Only fails on partition build.
I tried copying the non-encrypted partition definition into the mxls file just for kicks and it still fails.
This is on Linux
Any suggestions?  SR is open.
Thanks Williams_SI

Issue was the script encoding.
Although the '.mxl' script was encoded correctly to work with Unicode, the system generated script created through the encryption process did not copy that encoding.
Solution was to change the encoding on the '.mxls' script.

  • MaxL Create Application Issue

    Hi,
I am going through the MaxL shell.
I am learning simple commands like create application.
I have few questions regarding create an application from MaxL.
    The syntax is:
    create or replace application Application_Name type unicode/nonUniCode_Mode as CopyApplication_Name comment'xxxxx';
when we create a application from MaxL the application is created is which type ? either it is ASO or BSO type?
or how should i know whether it is ASO type or BSO type?
If I have to create a application of particular one type i.e. ASO/BSO how could i achieve this?
    please Reply.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You have different syntax for creating ASO and BSO applications using MAXL, the above stmt you mentioned is to create a BSO app.
To create a ASO app, you use
    create [or replace] application APPNAME using aggregate_storage comment 'YOUR COMMENTS.';
For more info refer below : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_techref/maxl/ddl/aso/creapp_as.htm
    Cheers....!!!

  • How can I create files in unicode format without "byte order mark"?

    Hello together,
I have to export files in UTF-8 format and have to send them to another partner system which works with linux as operating system.
I have tried the different possibities to create files with ABAP. But nothing works 100% how I want.
    Some examples:
    1.)
OPEN DATASET [filename] FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING UTF-8.
If I create a file in this way and download it from application server to local system the result for file format in a unicode text edior like NotePad is "ANSI AS UTF-8". This means I have no BYTE ORDER MARK inside.
But it is also possible that the file format is only ANSI if the file contains no "special characters", isn't it?
In my test cases I create 3 files. 2 of them has format "ANSI AS UTF-8", and one only "ANSII".
After transfer to Linux I get as result 2 times UTF8 and one time ASCII as file format.
    2.)
OPEN DATASET [filename] FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING UTF-8 WITH BYTE ORDER MARK.
With this syntax the result in local editor looks like ok. I get as format really "UTF-8".
But I get problems with the system which receives the files.
All files has the file format UTF-8 on Linux but the interface / script can not read the file with BYTE ORDER MARK.
This is a very big problem for me.
Do anybody of you know if it possible to force creation in UTF-8 without a BYTE ORDER MARK?
This means more or less the first example but all files should have UTF-8 format!
    Thanks in advance
    Christian

This means it is not possible to create a pure unicode file without the byte order mark?
You wouldn't happen to know how a file with byte order mark should read on a Linux system?
Or if this possible or not?
    Regards
    Christian

  • Is there any Profile option available to encrypt and use APPS password Oracle Application Host script

@Hi, How do we encrypt APPS password usage  in Oracle Application Host script and still let it be used in encrypted format (eg.$1, $FCP_LOGIN should not show plain text password).
Appreciate the process along with any Profile available to place this control.
Concurrent Program Setup Option SECURE/ENCRYPT controls $1, $FCP_LOGIN respectively, but Developer still has access to view/log the APPS Password.
Can we have a System profile or an Apps DBA level Setup to encrypt and use the APPS/Password.
    Thanks in Advance
    Lakshmi

Are you linking the host script to fndcpesr? E.g.:
Host script defined with prog extension:
    XXSCRIPT.prog
    Move it to relevant dir:
    $XX_TOP/bin
Create a soft link to fndcpesr
    ln -s $FND_TOP/bin/fndcpesr XXSCRIPT

  • Encrypted Maxl "Parse error near in" error

    Hello,
I'm facing a "Parse error near in" error when trying to use encrypted Maxl scripts deploying Essbase Studio cubes.
The problem seems to be in the deploy command. If I do not use encrypted Maxl ( -D option ), the same deploy command works fine.
Look in the deploy command that I'm not using encryption for loging into Essbase Studio. Even using encryption the same error is issued.

There have been a number of MaxL bugs with encryption that produce 'Parse error near...' messages. If you login to Oracle Support and search the Knowledge Base on 'Parse error near' you will find them. I can't see anything specifically relating to 11.1.2.1 or a known defect in the release notes... ...I'd get a support ticket raised, if you haven't already.
You don't mention platform, but I've also run into a bug running 'deploy' in 11.1.2.1 on a 64-bit Windows environment and there was a Unix bug too, but they both caused crashes so probably aren't your problem.

  • Deployment with encrypted Maxl files

    Hi All,
I'd like to know how encrypted maxl files work if I need to deploy them to different servers. This is, I create the maxl files to automate everytihng and I encrypt them in a test server. After deployment to a different production server, are the public/private keys going to work with no problem? Or I should re-encryp everything with new keys generated in the production server?
    Thanks!

    You need to create new
For Assistance you can use below Comments
You need to use the MaxL encryption tool to do this. The passwords stored in the MaxL Scripts can be encrypted from Version of Essbase 9.3 or higher.
    To Encrypt the Scripts:
    a) The following MaxL Shell invocation generates a public-private key pair that you can use to encrypt a MaxL script.
    essmsh -gk
    b) The following MaxL Shell invocation encrypts the input MaxL script, obscuring user name and password, and changing the file extension to .mxls.
    essmsh -E scriptname.mxl PUBLIC-KEY
    c) The following MaxL Shell invocation decrypts and executes the MaxL script.
    essmsh -D scriptname.mxls PRIVATE-KEY
STEP 1: In the command prompt type:
    C:\>essmsh -gk
STEP 2: In the command prompt, execute as below:
    C:\>essmsh -E D:\Hyperion\MScript.mxl 29287,1495101497
Generates a Encrypted MaxL script file "MScript.mxls" based on the original MaxL script "MScript.mxl" in the location "D:\Hyperion".
STEP 3: Execute Encrypted MaxL script MScript.mxls

    Dear All,
we are trying to implement a web dynpro application with accessing ABAP functions.
    Previous tasks:
    -     insert the ABAP system into the SLD from the NWDI System (Transaction RZ70; the ABAP system is correctly insert into the SLD => technical systems)
    -     equipped the JCO connections with the web dynpro content manager (ping and test = OK)

There two different URLs in use.
    Start via NWDS:
    http://frasapp562:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/J08_Flugdat_Daventdcflight~xxx.com/FlightListApp
Start via web dynpro content manager:
    http://frasapp562:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/xxx.com/aventdc~flight/FlightListApp
For test purposes, we started the BAPI (BAPI_Flight_Getlist) on the ABAP system directly. It works.
Any ideas about the system behaviours (different URLs and missing functionality)?
    Thanks a lot in advanced!

The below message comes when you don't specify any default file for your webcenter portal application and this should not be any problem.
Target Portal.jpr is not runnable, using default target index.html.
Can you answer to my questions:
    1. Did you just created a new wcp application in jdev and ran it with out doing any changes? If you have done what are the changes?
    2. How did you ran your application? (right clicking a particular page or right clicking your portal project and selected "run" option?

  • Create a new web application, how shall I update the file server.xml

    Hi,
I will create a new web application, i.e named newApp. Then I create a file structure as follows:
    - <server-root>/newApp
    - <server-root>/newApp/WEB-INF
    - <server-root>/newApp/WEB-INF/classes
Then I must tell the server that I have created a new web application. Then I must update my file server.xml, How shall I do this and where in the file shall I type in the new information?
I use windows XP Pro, and Tomcat 4.1.27.
My server.xml file looks like below:

<!-- Note that component elements are nested corresponding to their
parent-child relationships with each other -->
<!-- A "Server" is a singleton element that represents the entire JVM,

listens for a shutdown command on the indicated port.
Note: A "Server" is not itself a "Container", so you may not
define subcomponents such as "Valves" or "Loggers" at this level.

    * Download and install JSSE 1.0.2 or later, and put the JAR files

    * Execute:

    the keystore itself.
By default, DNS lookups are enabled when a web application calls
request.getRemoteHost(). This can have an adverse impact on
performance, so you can disable it by setting the
"enableLookups" attribute to "false". When DNS lookups are disabled,
request.getRemoteHost() will return the String version of the
IP address of the remote client.

    Sessions.
saveOnRestart: If true, all active sessions will be saved
to the Store when Catalina is shutdown, regardless of
other settings. All Sessions found in the Store will be
loaded on startup. Sessions past their expiration are
    ignored in both cases.
maxActiveSessions: If 0 or greater, having too many active
sessions will result in some being swapped out. minIdleSwap
limits this. -1 or 0 means unlimited sessions are allowed.
If it is not possible to swap sessions new sessions will
    be rejected.
This avoids thrashing when the site is highly active.
minIdleSwap: Sessions must be idle for at least this long
(in seconds) before they will be swapped out due to
    activity.
0 means sessions will almost always be swapped out after
use - this will be noticeably slow for your users.
maxIdleSwap: Sessions will be swapped out if idle for this
long (in seconds). If minIdleSwap is higher, then it will
override this. This isn't exact: it is checked periodically.
-1 means sessions won't be swapped out for this reason,
although they may be swapped out for maxActiveSessions.
If set to >= 0, guarantees that all sessions found in the
Store will be loaded on startup.
maxIdleBackup: Sessions will be backed up (saved to the Store,
but left in active memory) if idle for this long (in seconds),
and all sessions found in the Store will be loaded on startup.
If set to -1 sessions will not be backed up, 0 means they
should be backed up shortly after being used.
To clear sessions from the Store, set maxActiveSessions, maxIdleSwap,
and minIdleBackup all to -1, saveOnRestart to false, then restart
    Catalina.

To use servlets u have indeed to update your web.xml...Well I'm not sure this is relevant to your case anyway.
You have to add a <servlet> element to this file.
    Something like this:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>blabla</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>blablapackage.Blablaclass</servlet-class>
    <init-param>...</init-param>
    </servlet>
Now this may not solve your problem. Make sure you refer to your servlets using their full qualified names.btw, just to be sure, what is your definition of "servlet"? (i mean: any java class or only javax.servlet.Servlet)

  • Error creating a classic HFM application in Hyperion 11.1.2.2

I am trying to create a classic hfm application in Hyperion 11.1.2.2. When i enter application name and other information and press submit it shows message 'Creating new application' but then gives an error
The following exception has occurred in .(): oracle.epm.fm.common.exception.HFMException with message: Error occurred while creating the application.
All of HFM related services are running fine. But I have stopped EPMA related services assuming they are not needed for Classic HFM application creation.
    Any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Need to increase database (where HFM Schemas are created) processes and sessions. once after increase you should be able to open the application without any issues.
Looks like newly redesigned hfm v11.1.2.2 need more db sessions & processes.
