Encryption Failed

Hi,
Having an issue remote controlling a workstation. When I try from the ZCC I get the error message:
"Initialization of encryption for the session failed. Unable to Proceed."
The 'zmd-messages.log' on the workstation does not show any errors....but the Remote Management Audit log shows the attempt with a Status of "Failed to set up encryption with viewer."
I've exhausted the Knowledgebase and was hoping someone here can help me out.

Ok, just deleted the policy and it is now working.

Bit locker drive encryption failed due to power failer and hard disk corrupted

I ran Bitlocker drive ecryption drive D. My pc is windows 7 ultimate, while it was in progress of 1% due to power failer the encryption failed, when power resume the drive didn't showed the file format nor the size but it shows the size in disk management.
It showed like this in My computer
I do Have the recovery code password and back of recovery password so I ran the "manage-bde-_unlock D:-rp[my code ]
and my pc got hang no other option rather than to press the restart button.
then I used commang "repair-bde -force D:I:-rp[my rp] and following info showed but it stucked in 1% about 8 hours, and there was no increase in the pecentage
I also connected the hardisk to mac but all othe partation showed but didn't showed the encrypted one.
I had lots of memorable picture and other backups so any one kindly help me to get out of this problem. Thanks for help

The BitLocker encryption and decryption processes can be interrupted by turning the computer off, and it will resume where it left off the next time Windows starts. This is true even if the power is suddenly unavailable.
Bitlocker-repair (repair-bde) tool
can't repair a drive that failed during the encryption or decryption process.
In addition, could you please explain a bit for what drive you are trying to deal with? external one?
When you first restart your PC, have you seen any signs that indicate that the encryption is in process?

FileVault 2 Disk Encryption failed

Disk Encryption of a newly bought iomega prestige LPHD-UP3 1.5TB usb 2/3.0 disk on a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.7 (Lion) fails:
When trying to erase the disk with Disk Utility as 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled Encrypted)' the following message pops up all the time:
Disk Encryption failed
Disk Erase failed with the error:
Unable to create boot loader partition due to the specifics of your partition map layout.
The removal of the VirtualCD volume through the Encryption Utility on a Windows PC didn't change anything. Same Failure.

I have a 500 GB Iomega drive with the Virtual CD. I ran the recently released mac version of the Encryption Utility to remove it.

Since then, after my MacBook Pro wakes of from sleep with the drive attached it cannot connect to the internet, I cannot open any files in any programs, and I cannon eject the drive. Once I pull the plug, everything is back to normal. Have you had any similar problems? Iomega tech support wants to send me a new USB cable... Useless.

Encryption Fails during System Check

I am doing an enterprise rollout of Bitlocker and out of the thousands that have been prompted and successfully encrypted, I have two that fail during the system check. (Power Cable and CD/DVD). Bitlocker thinks that there is a disc in the drive, when
there is nothing in the drive (no mounted ISO either). I have at least 1000 more that have yet to be encrypted, so it is likely that I will bump into this again. I can't find anything in the Service & App logs that explain what is happening.
Does anyone have a solution to this???

In the article "BitLocker Drive Encryption in Windows 7: Frequently Asked Questions" under the heading 'What causes BitLocker to start into recovery mode when attempting to start
the operating system drive?' one of the items listed is:
Having the CD or DVD drive before the hard drive in the BIOS boot order and then inserting or removing a CD or DVD.
There are other things on that list that may be related.

Hello. I've been having this issue from time to time; I'm trying to connect to another computer which has both *Remote Management* and *Remote Login* activated. On this computer I got *Encrypt all network data (more secure)*, and for some reason after I try to connect to another computer (that has Remote Login activated) I keep getting this error:
Connection failed because its identity could not be confirmed. This could represent a security problem, or your SSH known_hosts file may be out of date.
Disable the "Encrypt all network data" security setting or update your SSH known_hosts file.
How would I update the SSH known_hosts file? And I thought all this was made automatically? I used to be able to do this before, but its not working lately.

On the admin computer (Mac OS X client computer), choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu.
Type in the path name to your home folder adding /.ssh to the end of the path. example:
/Users/username/.ssh where username is your short name.
Inside the .ssh folder, open the known_hosts file.
Locate the Servers IP and or its fully qualified Domain name and delete it and the associated characters.Example:

Mountain Lion Time Machine Encryption Fails with External Thunderbolt Drive

I have a Buffalo 1TB MiniStation external Thunderbolt/USB3.0 Drive that I am trying to select from Time Machine with Encryption on. It fails. Further, when attempting to encrypt the drive from Disk Utility, it succeeds however when mounting the disk displays "Unusable Disk" after the password prompt and can only be mounted by re-formatting with encryprion turned off.
Selecting repair disk also does not work as the drive fails to mount.
This can be duplicated using the either connection (Thunderbolt or USB).
I called the manufacturer of the drive and they state it is "Apple's problem".
Any help here?

Unlikely. If encryption works for other USB3/Thunderbolt drives, then it is definitely Buffalo's problem. At this time, there aren't many such drives so it is hard to say. Data Encryption fail

I install ESM 3-5-035 on Win2003 R2 SP2, and config a policy.
When I config Data-Encryption , it show "Encryption in not allowed when
Removable Storage is set as read-only or disabled", I reconfig Removeable
Storage from "Read-Only Access" to "Allow All Access" in [Storage Device
Control].
But I reconfig Data-Encryption, it still show the same message.....
What step do I forget ??

Encrypted Chat Fails

Suddenly, I'm unable to engage in encrypted chat with anyone. In the past, when I've had this problem, it has been easily fixed by deleting and refreshing certificates (in KeyChain Access) on one or both ends of the communication, but that's not working now. I've tried everything I can think of: restarting iChat, logging off of AIM, rebooting the Mac, deleting iChat preferences files. Nothing works. This appears to affect only me and happens with everyone in my buddy list. Un-encrypted chat works fine. I've made no changes to my configuration that I can recall, since I was last able to engage in encrypted chat successfully.
Suggestions on how to proceed would be much appreciated!

I'm seeing the same. Audio chat and Video chat are fine. Encryption fails with text chat.
I also tried a few things, including revoking my certificate from the .Mac site, removing my certificate from Keychain Access, then starting up iChat again. A new certificate was issued through the iChat assistant. Still, encryption fails with text chat. It's fine with audio and video chat. I verified the new certificate was in use by the person I'm audio/video chatting with - by clicking on the lock in the upper right of the audio/video chat box and looking at the certificate info.
I can text chat if I disable encryption in the iChat preferences. All software is up-to-date on 10.4.10 via Software Update.

Hard Drive Encryption Issue

This is in regard to hard drive encryption issues in my USB Hard drive. I have Windows 7. I was encrypting my USB hard drive and
was able to enter a password. However, I did not receive any prompt to save the Bitlocker recovery key. During encryption process, I received an error. The encryption process was unsuccessful. However, now when I plug-in the hard drive, I receive the
following message on the status bar:
Application and Device Control rule Block writing to removable media. Unencrypted drive found (No_Encrypted_Found) has blocked edpa.exe trying to access Volume

When I try to open the drive, it asks for a password. When I enter the password, I am receiving the following error message:

being write-protected.
I have read that Bitlocker repair tool can help resolve this issue.
However, I just have the password that I had set to encrypt the drive and Bitlocker recovery key identification. Can this help to get access to my hard drive data using the Bitlocker tool.

Has anyone found a solution to fixing the FileVault "encryption paused" error?

I got my Macbook Air in mid January 2015. When I set it up I decided to enable FileVault but after a few minutes the encryption failed and now it will not continue and complete, even when I have my computer on and plugged in. I have seen many different possible solutions, but none that really worked well. Has anyone found a good solution to the issue?

Back up all data before proceeding. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility window, select the icon of the startup volume from the list on the left. It will be nested below another disk icon, usually with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar. When prompted, enter the login password of a user authorized to unlock the volume, or the alternate decryption key that was generated when you activated FileVault.
Then, from the menu bar, select
File ▹ Turn Off Encryption
Enter the password again.
You can then restart as usual, if the system is working. Decryption will be completed in the background. It may take several hours, and during that time performance will be reduced.
If you can't turn off encryption in Disk Utility because the menu item is grayed out, you'll have to erase the volume and then restore the data from a backup. Select the Erase tab, and then select
Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
from the Format menu.
You can then quit to be returned to the main Recovery screen. Follow these instructions if you back up with Time Machine. If you use other backup software, follow its developer's instructions.
Don't erase the volume unless you have at least two complete, independent backups. One is not enough to be safe.

yes that is also windows server. saved the file as like txt format. open notepad and copy the keys than save the file as ENCKEYS.

How should I set GPG to use with KMail or even rather Thunderbird?

In the last 3 hours I tried to set Thunderbird (Enigmail) and KMail to use my GPG key. I failed.
I made the keypairs with Kgpg, installed enigmail, restarted the Thunderbird, set everything, but TB didn't asked for password, only gave an error message that it can't use gpg in batch mode and the password is wrong:

I read a lot and all I found is that I have to disable the use of gpg-agent in Enigmail's settings, but it was alredy disabled, despite I got this message:
"Your system uses gpg-agent or a similar tool for passphrase handling (gpg-agent is mandatory if GnuPG v2.0 or later is used). Since caching of passphrases is handled by gpg-agent, the respective timeout settings in OpenPGP are disregarded. In order to change passphrase caching options, please configure your gpg-agent tool."
After many pages I gave up, it seems it cannot be solved.
So I tried KMail. But KMail didn't ask password, too. Google, searching. I found that I should install pinentry-qt. Well, pinentry is already installed and I have pinentry, pinentry-qt and pinentry-qt4, too. So I searched for another solution. Then I found that I should use gpg-agent (I used it already according to Thunderbird) and I have to write use-agent to .gnupg/gpg.conf. It was already there. Then I found that I have to make a file, .gnupg/gpg-agent.conf whit this content:
pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry-qt4
no-grab
default-cache-ttl 1800
So I made it. After this I add the eval "$(gpg-agent --daemon)" to my .xinitrc, as it was written in many posts. I logged out and in. Still no luck.
The gpg-agent in terminal says:
gpg-agent: gpg-agent running and available
I tried a test I found on forums: echo "test" | gpg -ase -r 0xDEADBEEF | gpg. It says:
1024-bit RSA key, ID CFF2728D, created 2011-05-17 (main key ID CD35B00C)
gpg: problem with the agent -disabling agent use.
Then it asks the passphrase. I type it in, but then a message appears that I didn't have any public key.
I tried to disable gpg-agent, but didn't helped. Thunderbird said:
"can't connect to `/tmp/gpg-y2XPqU/S.gpg-agent': Kapcsolat elutasítva
gpg: Nem tudok kapcsolódni "/tmp/gpg-y2XPqU/S.gpg-agent" objektumhoz: connect failed" - connection refused. Can't connect to /tmp... object.
KMail simply says bad passphrase.
So. How can I use GPG? What should I do, how should I start? Is it possible at all? I just wanted to sign and encrypt e-mails. It seemed very easy.

Bitlocker on Windows 7 - External drive recovery with unlock password

Hi,
I am in the unfortunate situation where I have a 3tb external hard drive that I have 2 partitions on. The smaller, 250gb partition was encrypted using bitlocker for work purposes. Now that I have left my previous job, I wanted to decrypt the drive and use
it normally.
While trying to decrypt, the laptop ran out of battery, and the process was interrupted. In the morning when I tried to unlock the drive, I keep getting the message "Bitlocker Drive Encryption failed to recover from an abruptly terminated conversion"
Unfortunately, I do not any of the recovery keys (which were in the old work laptop). However, I have the password that I normally use to unlock the drive.
My question is: Is there any way I can use the bitlocker recovery tool to salvage my data using the normal unlock password?
Second, on the off chance that I can, do I need to output the data to an entirely new drive? If I use the option to output to an image file, will that still overwrite all the contents of the output drive?
Any help would be much appreciated. Please let me know if there is any more information I can provide. Thank you!

Use repair-bde alone first
it should give you some information about bitlocker.
the full command explaination :
C: is the drive that your data is on that you want to recover
z: is the drive you want to copy the recovered data to
after -rp switch you have to type in your recovery password.
you can use -rk and specify recoverykey file location after.
ex: repair-bde C: Z: -rk F:\RecoveryKey.bek
