End of audio action?

Hello Captivate Friends,
I have a slide with 2 buttons.  Each button plays a separate audio clip.  Without incorporating any additional slides, I would like for something to appear at the end of the audio clip (like a checkmark) showing the learner that they have listened to that audio clip in its entirety.
Any ideas?  I am using Captivate 7.
Thanks!
Matt

What happens if you actually create a disc instead of using preview?
Try to an RW disc, and please check this.
Remember that preview mode is not an actual multiplex of the final VOB filesthat compiling the disc will create, and as such can be a little wobbly whereas a real disc will be properly multiplexed together.
Also - just to humour me - please do not use MP3 audio, as you are forcing on-the-fly sample rate conversion which is not a good idea.

  • Play audio action doesn't work in Captivate 7

    Hi,
    On the first slide of my course I added a "quick start" guide. It consists of a series of captions containing text. In each caption there's a "Continue" text link triggering an advanced action to hide the current caption and show the next one. This works perfectly.
    Now I wanted to attach audio to each step of the guide. I added a "play audio" action after the show/hide actions for the first step. No audio was playing. When I changed the play audio to be the first action in the script - the script didn't work at all. When I changed it to be between the hide and show, the hide worked and show didn't. What I understand from this is that play audio doesn't work and also halts the whole thing.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

    Just checked it out, created a shared action with almost exactly the same commands, but grouped all the text containers in one group Gr_TC
    to hide:
    It worked perfectly. You don't see a label, because it is a shared action, for which I just filled in some parameters. Attached it to three buttons, had 3 text containers and 3 different audio clips.
    Is the audio clip playing when you use it in another way? The only difference seems to be that you have a VO clip and I used one of the included sounds with Captivate.
    Another way could be to attach the audio to the text container as object audio. Once you show the text, audio will play, when you hide the text it will stop. That was the way to go before CP6:

  • Audio Action Scripts in Flash 8?

    I'm really hoping somebody can PLEASE help me with this
    problem. I have Captivate 2 and I am exporting the project to Flash
    8. When I do this, the audio is not exported. I have browsed this
    forum looking for answers, but haven't found a solution. I have
    verified that the handler action scripts are in their proper
    location. It just seems like when I export, it isn't respecting the
    audio action script, or something.
    Any ideas?
    I'll buy a round of beers to the person that finds a
    solution for me..:-)

    Hi wxcinc
    While the audio may be having issues converting cleanly to
    Flash, you do have the option of exporting the clips from
    Captivate. Then they would be available to use from Flash as
    separate entities.
    Just a thought... Rick

  • End of Audio event - show help text

    Is there an event handler that can be tagged to the end of all audio clips in project to show help text?

    Welcome to the forum. It helps mostly to give a correct answer if you mention the version (exact number) you are using.
    I don't know about such an event:

    You will have to use the timeline to start the help text timeline just after the audio clip finishes.

  • Adobe ends your audio nightmares once and for all!

    Are you plagued occasionally, like me, with less than perfect audio?
    Fret no more.
    Adobe has the solution and you don't have to pay a fortune, as the technology is available in their budget Premiere Elements.
    Take a look at this in-depth tutorial (between 15 to 40 seconds in) and hear how your audio problems can be consigned to the dustbin of history.
    No need any more to worry about the quality of the audio as you shoot, for it can all be rectified with a click of a button in post.
    Come on Apple!
    Neither Legacy FCP or FCP X has such technology.
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/premiere-elements-9-how-tos/jazz-up-the-action/?tracki ngid=JCVMB

    I don't know about overwhelming, but the DVD specification (which was not developed by Apple) calls for the audio to be sampled at 16-bit/48KHz (I think you might also be able to use 96KHz as well). This is what the software expects. If you choose to use another sample rate then the software may or may not be able to "fix" it in post. The real problem is that many camcorder manufactures set the audio to 12-bit by default.

  • How to sustain a note to end an audio clip in Soundtrack Pro

    This may be beyond the scope of this forum. It may be beyond the capabilities of the application, (I do plan on getting an STP training book from Apple, but I should probably get through the FCP book first!)
    I'm putting together a little video, and I found a piece (Feelgood.caf) in the library that works perfectly. I mean, perfectly! About a minute into the audio file, the tempo picks up and I want to end it about twenty seconds or so after that. The problem is, the song is still going and I can't just stop it dead, because that would sound horrible! (I'm just using the first two stereo tracks in my sequence, by the way.)
    What I'd like to know is if it's possible to - I guess the best analogy would be to create a "still" frame from an audio file? When the file hits that last note, I want to hold it and fade it out, even though in reality that note is only one beat.
    If I was a musician, I could just figure the piece out and play the part I wanted, I suppose, but I'm not anywhere near that capable. So, as far as the sustaining that last note (that's in the middle of the song), do I have a snowball's chance?

    Listening to the piece, I'm seeing a few options.
    1) I think where you want it to end, there's a kick drum sound. Blade it right before the kick sounds. Then go to the end of the piece where the drums drop out. The last drum sound is also a kick drum. Blade it right before that kick, and put that end segment right against the beginning part. If you do it right, it just sounds like the drums drop out again naturally, then you can do a fade out.
    2) Edit it before the drums come in at all, and put in the segment from the end, where it goes back to the original feel. If the energy lift from the drums is what is working with your edit so well, this option won't work for you.
    3) Fade it out. I usually don't like this option for music edits - it just telegraphs that the music didn't really fit, since it didn't end properly.
    None of these are what you want, of course, but they might be good alternatives.
    I hope these suggestions help!

  • Audio cutting off at the end of audio clips w no change in waveform?

    Audio cuts off right at the end of some of my clips... I can still see the waveforms that have the full audio on them, but no audio plays for those last two or three seconds! My audio level is the same throughout the clip, so its not like its fading out or anything. This has been happeneing for a few weeks now, in multiple seperate projects.

    Hi David,
    Thanks for the response. I did look at the song that got cut off and it's a .m4a file. However, I also have normal audio that comes from an external Zoom recorder in .wav format that is getting cut off in the same way. The strange thing is I've never had a problem with this before a couple weeks ago. I've used this same song before and my external audio is always in .wav format

  • Audio breaks with the "play audio" action

    I have a slide with 3 buttons that trigger 3 seperate .mp3-files from the Library
    I just use the action play audio (name of file)..
    This happens in the preview as in in the published content as well.

    Could you please explain what you mean by Breaks and post a picture of your timeline?

  • Problems with Automator in Lion's text to audio action

    So, I'm trying to become more productive by turning stuff I don't have time to read into something I can listen to in the car. I created the following Automator script, but every time I run it, it crashes.
    Here's the first part of the problem reporter. Interestingly, if I use a different action to get the text (e.g. take it from the frontmost TextEdit window), no problems whatsoever. The text is converted to text and added to the playlist.  Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it ?

  • Help, Quicktime/.flv End of Movie Action needed

    Hi, we've made a simple flash 8 presentation for a client
    that is essentially a branded main menu from which 9 different .flv
    training movies (converted with flash 8 from quicktimes) can be
    launched. Everything is working fine but we'd like to add in a an
    action script that would automatically return the user to the main
    menu when each movie file has completed playing. Right now we have
    a back button that they can manually click at anytime but ideally
    it would return automatically when the .flv is finsihed. Can anyone
    help? Much appreciated. Manny.

    Just want to add that we've tried using cue points which set
    when importing in the Flash 8 encoder but can't get them to work in
    the media player component. Any advice would be much
    appreciated.

  • Mouse audio/actions not following settings

    Hello all,
    First off, I am using Captivate 4. As for my output type, I'm not sure of that at the moment - but I don't know if that's essential to this issue.
    In the slides that I'm editing, I have captured my mouse navigating through a website. For the majority of the slides, the audio is doing the exact opposite of what the settings dictate. If I have selected to play the mouse click's sound, it doesn't play the sound. If I have NOT selected the mouse click sound to play, it plays. Only on one slide does it actually do what I ask. And I have also noticed that if I ask it to NOT show the mouse click, it shows it anyway, and the other way around.
    I thought maybe by adjusting the settings to the opposite of what I want, I could trick the program - alas this doesn't work either.
    What am I missing? Is there a master setting somewhere that's laughing at me?
    Thank you kindly.

    Well, nevermind... when I preview the entire project, things seem to work as planned. When I'm previewing individual slides, it's not the case but I suppose that's not a big deal.

  • Inputs From Hi-End Analog Audio -- A/D Conversion

    I would like to transfer rich, warm analog sound from vintage McIntosh equipment, Ortofon MC, from records, 78s, and cassettes to digital form. I know that in the music industry, stand-alone analog to digital converters are used. How do I find an "audiophile" quality analog to digital input concerter?

  • Trigger video ended actions

    Hi,
    I need some help here.
    I have this video on stage : it is ok.
    var vid = sym.getSymbol("video_content").$("video_holder");
    vid.html('<video id="videosalle0" style="display:block;position: absolute;bottom: 0px; left: 0px; min-width: 100%; min-height: 100%; width: auto; height: auto; overflow: hidden;" webkit-playsinline=""  autoplay="autoplay" controls="controls" poster="images/poster_salle3a.jpg" ><source src="videos/salle3a.mp4" type="video/mp4"><source src="videos/salle3a.webm" type="video/webm"><source src="videos/salle3a.ogv" type="video/ogg"></video>');
    And I have this button alson on stage I want to give different actions, if the video ended or not.
    I do this and it not works ;
    if (($("#videosalle0")[0].ended)== true){
    sym.$("video_content").animate({"top":"0%"},1000);
    sym.$("vitrine_content").animate({"top":"-100%"},1000);
    alert("est true");
    } else {
    sym.$("video_content").animate({"top":"0%"},1000);
    sym.$("vitrine_content").animate({"top":"-100%"},1000, function(){$("#videosalle0")[0].play();});
    alert("est false");
    Please, help if you can ! thanks
    s.

    OK I found out.
    The answer is on the fact that "video ended"  means that an audio/video has ended when the playback position IS at the end of the audio/video.
    Somewhere before in my code I was sending the video back at the 0 position after it reached the end therefore the action on my button above could never work...
    I can sleep now

  • How to get the end of a download action ?

    Hello !
    My web application must download zip file.
    Actually, the servlet's code for download is like this :
    response.setContentType("application/download");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","inline; filename=DownloadFile");
    ServletOutputStream l_ServletOutputStream = response.getOutputStream();
    l_ServletOutputStream.write(l_ByteArrayOutputStream.toByteArray());
    l_ServletOutputStream.flush();
    The client can see a popup dialog box asking him to save the file on disk or open it or cancel. In case of save action, file is downloaded but I don't know when this action finished. Is there any event to catch or something else that inform about the end of downloading action ( I have to refresh the display with a new JSP ) ?
    Thanks for your help !

    Propably to correct way would be to use HTTP-headers to indicate the length of the file, so actual application download is possible also through other clients, rather than the specific one, so you could do:
    response.setHeader("Content-length",l_ByteArrayOutputStream.toByteArray().length);I'm not really sure if servlets do this automatically, they really should though, but I'm hazy on their implementation and you might want to check the HTTP specification on whether or not the length of the headers should be included in the Content-length field, as it might be required to.
