End options in Captivate 2

I have two Captivate 2 projects that have been created with
skins and borders. I am trying to link them together, so that when
one is completed, the second one downloads. I had luck with this
under Captiavte 1, but in Captiavet 2, I cannot seem to get this
feature to work. Should I link to the HTM file, the actual swf, or
the skin swf? Also, should I use the Open URL or file to open the
HTM or should I use the open other project. I am posting these to
an LMS. Anybody have the correct actions I need to take to get this
to work?
Thanks

TJU
I am linking to the .htm files containing the next captivate
file using the Open URL.
I have been looking for a good explanation on the differences
between Open URL and the Open Other Project option. There is no
good documentation that I've seen on the differences and when to
use one over the other.
It would be ideal if they had an option to do a "loadmovie"
type of function, so it would load the next movie into itself so
that everything would stay on one HTML page and not refresh
everytime. Then we could more easily create a Flash container file
with other navigation and not have to deal with communicating to
these "special" captivate SWF files in their own language.

  • Project Start and End Features - Can Captivate Phone Home and Expire ?

    Hi,
I am looking at selling a course which the client will host for a limited time
We want the course to expire and we would like to receive anonymous user data back with their permission.
Send data back to use : Phoning home
I was looking at the Project->start and end-> Project end options-> execute javascript
With our clients permission could we use this to open a URL and phone home or would we crash into a firewall and burst into flames ?
    Why ?
    ============
We want to monitor anonymous data such as time on course , score and number of users to improve the course for all customers.
My other thought was to use this widget
    http://captivatedev.com/shop/adobe-captivate-6-x-google-lms-widget-with-email-reporting/
Maybe I can run this at the same time as my customers normal LMS
    Expire
I was looking at the Project->start and end-> Project expiry date.
Is this relatively secure and stable ?
Our other alternative was to throw a widget in which said this course has expired
Or could I have the course check a website to confirm the course is licensed ?
Any ideas or advice would be appreciated

    Hi Rod,
Thank-you for your reply from Western Australia ( which I just realized is the closest point to Madagascar and King Julian)
I like the graphs on A3C but
    http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2012/06/course-companion-for-adobe-captivate-6.html
    - I couldn't work out how to get the A3C viewer to it display more than the first 20 pages.
    - it had a 3 month limit on the course based on an  Adobe comment on the blog
    http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2012/06/course-companion-for-adobe-captivate-6.html
    - I wasn't sure whether the reporting works with advanced actions because some of the reports run on item name
    - Nobody seems to be commenting on it on the forums :-)
    - There was a distraction % on the table which I couldn't work out what it was
    - it was unclear what port had to be open for the A3C communication

  • Issue importing "Project End Options" preferences

    Hi,
I am having issues importing preferences. All seem to work perfectly except the Start and End > Project End Options (it actually changes the Action here, but it changes it to Loop Project - I am wanting Close Project)
The Adobe Captivate Help says: All preferences in your current project are modified according to those set in the preferences file.... So, am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks
    LAG

    Hi,
Even I could see this issue in Captivate 4. The only way is to change the "Project end action" after importing the prefernces.
And good news is that this issue has been resolved in Captivate 5.

  • How can I disable the "go to last visited slide" option in captivate?

Can anybody  tell me how can I disable the "go to last visited slide" option in captivate so that every time when i launch my captivate file from a LMS, it WILL NOT go back to the last visited slide? I know that Lectora has a checkbox for this but i can't seem to find it in Captivate.

Are you deploying on a LMS? In that case check the option 'Never Send Resum Data' in Preferences, Quiz, Reporting, LMS Customization Settings.
If you are not deploying on LMS, check if Self-paced Learning is disabled in the TOC?

  • Game created in Flash(SWF) how do you determine the end on one Captivate slide so you can proceed?

I know this discussion title is long, but here's the background...
We've created a game in Flash which created a SWF file and imported that SWF file into Captivate 5.5 as an animation.
Because it's a game, it can take someone 1 minute or 10 minutes to complete it.
I would like the slide to end when the individual playing the game ends (the SWF animation) and then move onto the next slide.
I've tried several different settings but nothing works.
    Please advise.
    Thank you,
    Dave

I am no expert, and there may be better soltuions but as I see it there are two options:
    1. Easy solution - Add a button in captivate to allow the user to manually navigate to the next slide (the button can be present the whole time allowing the user to nominate when they want to proceed)
    2. More difficult solution: Turn the flash file into a widget. At the end of the game get the widget to set the variable rdcmndResume to 1

  • What are the assessment options in Captivate 8 for the following scenario:

I have one Captivate  project with five modules, after each module I want to have mandatory questions (user need to answer to proceed and pass the course) and optional questions (user can skip, not included in the final score). I am using Oracle LMS. it seams Adobe didn't change the limited quiz preferences in Captivate 8.
I would like to hear from the experts before I proceed into a lengthy option. I have the option to chop the project into five separete projects with 5 quizes ( with manadatory questions) . then make the optional quiz questons as a sperate projects, and organize them ( learning objects)  in the LMS to play after each module, where the use can skip.

As Lieve suggests, since you need to score various quizzes separately, you need to have those CP quizzes as separate files...which, again as she states, is a SCORM requirement.
You could put all those separate CP files together in one package with Captivate's 'Multi-SCO Packager' but in every case I've seen, the LMS breaks those up into separate lessons anyway...so you'll need to use the LMS to open one, go through it, close it, have it scored, open the next through the LMS, etc.
So the LMS would be the 'Main File' Lieve mentions.
If you don't NEED to see the individual quiz scores, you could put all sections in one main CP file...then all section quizzes would be scored cumulatively to show one overall score in the LMS...
...and if your LMS supports 'interaction data' you could report on the actual answers to each question to find out how well a user did in each quiz section, but that again depends on your LMS capabilities (and that data will meet the requirements).
Overall though, if you need to see separate quiz scores in the main LMS interface, each quiz has to be its own file. That would be the case with ANY tool you use, being a SCORM limitation.

  • Is there any option in captivate to capture tool tips

    Hello Friends
I'm using Captivate 4 .is there any option in captivate4 to record the mouse movement so that i can capture the Tool Tips in the software which i am making the Demo.Hope some one will help me..
    Crazdobe

    Hi there,
My preferred method would be to capture the initial screens using Adobe Captivate 4, use an screen grabbing application such as SnagIt or the built-in Windows Vista / Windows 7 Snipping Tool to grab just the tool tips and then insert these as images in Adobe Captivate. This method gives you full control over the tool tips which can be faded in and out using Adobe Captivate's Transition Effects (see screen shot below).
Another way would be to capture the tool tips using FMR (Full Motion Recording). To do this you would simply press F9, roll over the object that includes the tool tip and then press F10 to exit FMR mode. However, it is important to stress that FMR is real-time video and may not be the best solution.

  • Drop Down Options in Captivate 6 Sequence Question

    Hello!
I'm working on a project using Captivate 6. There is a Sequence question using the drop down option for Answer Type. For this particular question there are 5 items that need to be placed in order. When a learner clicks the drop down to answer the question only 4 of the 5 options display forcing the learner to scroll to see the last option. Is there a way to make the drop down display larger so the learner doesn't have to scroll?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
    Marie

    Thanks Lilybiri!
This was helpful. My team decided to stick with the drop down format, but by making the font size smaller we were able to fit all 5 options into the window (taking away the need to scroll.
    Thanks again,
    Marie

  • Autostart not an option in Captivate 3?

    Hello,
I am trying to figure out how to get a video that I produce in Captivate 3 to NOT autostart. I would love to know how to get the video to start upon the user clicking a play button.
    How can this be done?
    Thanks, Marianne

    Hi there
While you may certainly tweak the HTML code so things don't autostart, by far the simplest way to keep things paused is by inserting either a Click Box or a Button object on the first slide. The end user then clicks the Button or Click Box to proceed.

  • Project end option - Open file or URL and Close project

    Hi,
    I am using Captivate 4.
Is it possible at the end of the movie to close it and also to open a URL?
    Thanks,
    Merav.

    Hi Merav
You could probably accomplish it by creating an Advanced Action to carry it out. But there are some caveats.
    * You would need to ensure the URL were opened in a new window
    * Your Advanced Action would need to carry out the Open URL or file bit as the first step
    * Closing the project will prove unreliable. This is explained in the link I pointed you to the last time I replied, Click here to view

  • Front end options with Oracle DB

I have a customer who needs a highly reliable, highly available oracle database. From the DB point of view this is easy, but in the past we've used oracle Forms to give access to the DB to the users. Unfortunately, due to its web-deployed nature, 9iAS via Oracle Forms is nether reliable nor available, not all of that has to do with forms for example:
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Too many dependencies on technologies that require frequent re-boots. So I'm looking for suggestions on what I should use for a front end... Should I write the front end in JAVA, or use htmldb, or some other technology? Any suggestions?

Are you opposed to three-tier deployment altogether? There is always going to be the possibility that IE crashes, particularly as you add functionality on top of straight HTML forms. Are IE crashes really frequent enough to be a cause for concern in your environment? I'd think that having the application save periodically would be more than enough insurance to risk the occasional browser crash.
If you are entering truly critical data and cannot survive the loss of any typing, I would think that system crashes (blue screens) would also be a concern, which would tend to eliinate any application components on the client machines and dictate a client/server app deployed to a bank of Citrix servers that clients connect to from their client desktops. That seems like a lot of effort, however, when web deployment will handle 99.9% of applications out there.

  • Quiz Feedback Options in Captivate

    Hi all,
I have a problem in showing the feedbacks for a quiz(Multiple choice with multiple answers(Eg: Answer - A and C). I wanted to show feedbacks for each wrong attempt made by the user, until the user select the correct answer. I mean I have to show multiple incorrect feedbacks for all the multiple wrong attempts made by the user. Is this possible? If yes, please guide me through.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Warm Regards,
    Mathi.

That is not something to be explained in a few words. I have no idea about your experience with Advanced Actions? Have a look at those blog posts, where I explain the functionality of question slides.

  • Is there a pan and zoom or smart focus option in Captivate 8?

    Hey there!
We are experimenting with some new idea's and I was wondering if Captivate 8 has a pan and zoom or smart focus feature. I found the zoom box, but that is not exactly what I am looking for. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated

There is a pan&zoom for the HD Video Demo, which results in pure video (mp4) and that is the case since version 6. Nothing new for the normal cptx-projects, except for software captures in responsive projects, where zoom and pan will be automatically done for the smallest resolution breakpoint view, which is the mobile.

  • Is there a scroll box option in Captivate 7?

I would like to a small text box (10% of the screen) on one of my slides that contains a lot of text.  I would like the user to be able to scroll through the text and for only three or four lines to be visible at a time.  Any ideas?
    Thank you in advance!
