End to End SSO to Database

Hi All,
We are using Business Objects XI R2 SP2  and were using Vintella End to End SSO SSO with SQL Server 2005 Database.
Yesterday we created a new service account for SQL Server and ran the SetSpn with this account.
We are able to SSO to Infoview but when we are running crystal report on demand we are getting error "The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect"
If we schedule the report and give database logon credentials it works fine.
Are there any other changes that need to be done.
Please assist.
Thanks in advance for your help.
V.

Since you didn't change your bo config the problem is probably with Microsoft. Open a case with them if you have to. You can try opening a case with us as well to make sure there are no options on the BO side.
Try putting this http://support.microsoft.com/?id=262177 BO server and SQL server

Tim

  • LDAP SSO to database in XI3.1

    Hi  All,
    We are using XI3.1 and trying to find a solution for configuring LDAP single sign on to database and have not been able to find any material on that matter.
    Is it possible to configure LDAP SSO to database (Oracle 11) natively? Or is there a third party tool like siteminder that can make that configuration work? Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    V

    It should work natively.
    In the CMC > Authentication > LDAP there is an option for propogate credentials at logon time. This option will cause LDAP users to have their username/pw cached in their user account (in fields called DBuser/DBpass). Then you must configure your reports to use these fields. If using reports based of universes you need to set the universe connection to use DB credentials, if crystal then it's a bit more complicated and you may need to log a case to get the instructions.
    If using SSO on the front end with siteminder or trusted auth then the LDAP propogate option will not work (it requires users to key in their user/pw).

  • Front End to Oracle Database - Advice Needed

    Hi
    My company has recently purchased an Oracle Database. Are there any advantages in creating the front end in Oracle as opposed to writing the front end in Java.
    I am interested to know if one method is preferred over the other. I was planning on writing it entirely in Java.
    Any help or advice would be appreciated.

  • Beta Testing Ends For "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning" Exam

    !http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009-0204-1122.gif!
    <p>The beta period ended on Aug 31, 2009 for the <strong>Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning</strong> certification exam (1Z1-054), which is a single exam requirement for Oracle 11g DBA OCPs to earn the Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Certified Expert (OCE) certification.</p>
    <p align="justify">Full details are posted on the Oracle Certification Blog.</p>

    Hello Hussein
    Yes true, I remember it for the OCE and Linux exams they rescheduled the end date several times. As far as I know it is related to the number of participants and the given feedback.
    I've also participated to several other exams, and I must admit that it is a long and hard process to get through. When I got the feedback 10 weeks after the beta period closure, I had to review nearly all the topics to get the exams passed the second time. But this it is a cheap and good exam preparation.
    What about you Hussein? Do you think that's trivial?
    Cheers,

  • Can i use "begin" and "end" in a database control

    hi there
    i just want to know if i can use begin and end with several sql update statments in between in a database control. u see, i need to run few update statements together. i don't want to put them in seperate method. i was wondering if i could put them together in on method and run it. is there any other way to do it if begin and end are not allowed. thanks

    I have a J2EE application, for which I have a module which is used by system administrators. this module is completly written in Java swing.
    and it does talk to my EJBs.
    If you don't have a firewall in your application, then you can directly make your applications in awt, swing and applets talk to EJBs. if you do have a firewall, then just write a web-service wrapper over your EJBs and other J2EE components and use them from desktop applications.
    It seems that you want to implement a kind of a applet based monitor application for your J2EE EJBs on the server. Applets cannot directly monitor your EJBs.
    Create a new module which has a service which acts as an event listener on the server. each j2ee component on the server notify it if there is a change to them. this service, can then write the data realted to the modification on a socket which is continiously being read by the applet. So you can implement a kind of a monitor for J2ee apps with applets.
    hope this helps.
    regards,
    Abhishek.
    PS:How did you manage to adore the AWT ;-) ? I found that it sucks (good performance.. very poor lnf) ... java swing sucks too (very poor performance ... avaerage lnf).

  • Front End to SQL Database?

    Hello all, I've been tasked with creating a SQL database for business contacts. It has 30 or more columns. I created the database, and then created its only table...."contacts". I added 30 columns for the table according to what a specific department
    wanted. I have yet to add the rows to the columns.
     I wanted to take the information that will eventually be in the table, and make it accessible in a more user friendly way. We have SharePoint Foundation 2013 and thought it would be great if a web part could function like that for this database.
    Or maybe I should use Access? I'm not sure. I'm very much a SQL and SharePoint newbie. Heck, I'm even an Access newbie.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    There are infinite possibilities of GUI interface that can be used for that :-)
    You have to choose the way that works best for your specific needs and your abilities including of course the knowledge you have. If you control the ACCESS platform then this is definitely a good option, if you control in SharePoint it is good as well (by
    the way, SharePoint has a built-in users architecture which you can use based on). I personally comes from development field, and the way I whould choose is to develop a simple GUI interface based web applications.
    More options for GUI:
    ACCESS
    Sharepoint
    Developing your own application (web/windows) <--- My personal prefered way for most situations
    Excel power view / Excel power pivot
    SSRS (you can lern the basic of using report builder 3 in several hours)
    etc...

  • SSO to database

    We have Business Objects 3.1 SP2 FP2.3 running on Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64bits.
    CMS database on SQL 2005 x64
    Environment runs on Apache Tomcat
    Single Sign-On with kerberos on Active Directory is working fine.
    We have developers who want to use their Crystal Reports with SSO also and not use SQL authentication like they used to do in previous BO versions.
    In Windows AD Authenticaton of the CMC, I checked the option Cache security context (required for SSO database)
    In the Database Configuration of the Crystal Report we're testing, in the section "When viewing report", we selected Use SSO context for database logon
    Is there any other necessary configuration to be done in any config file?
    Not sure whether this should be added but in the krb5.ini file, I added the following value under libdefaults (just before the realms section): forwardable = true
    When I try to view the report, I get the following error message in InfoVIew:
    Error in File "testreport": Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters: Details: [Database Vendor Code: 18456]
    For the same kind of report but with the option: "Use same database logon as when report is run", with SQL authentication parameters, everything is OK.
    DEV Environment: one InfoVIew FrontEnd server and one BO CMS server
    PROD Environment: one InfoView FrontEnd server and 2 BO clustered servers
    Regards
    Jay

    I think [this thread should get you going|SSO2DB / Use Database Credentials; about half way down I worte a response with links to setup the DB for kerberos.

  • Flex 4 Advanced DataGrid Refresh with database record changes at server end

    I've visited a number of posts regarding this problem and none of the solutions presented seem to fix the issue I'm having. I'm beginning to think it is a bug with the DataManagement functions in Flex.
    In my application I have followed the example presented on the Flex 4 tutorials:
    "Using data management to synchronize server updates".
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/FlexTutorials/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4292a0331216558354b-80 00.html#WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-211e6e7c12846356a0c-8000
    I've tried with both client-side and server-side typing with the same issue.
    I'm using Flex 4 with ColdFusion 9 connecting to an MSSQL 2008 database. The table I'm working with uses a GUID as the identifyer (I have also tried with unique numeric types too).
    The application is running fine besides one issue. I am using the myService.commit(); control to do a bulk update to rows that have been added to the DataGrid. At the database end I am inserting values into some fields that are not determined at the client end. The database is updating fine, so the commit seems to be doing that part of the work. However, there does not seem to be any way of reflecting those new values provided at the ColdFusion CFC insert within the DataGrid. I've tried re-assigning the DataGrid to the dataProvider / different dataProvider after the commit. Refreshing the DataGrid using myDataGrid.dataProvider.refresh() seems to partly work. i.e. The Grid is refreshed with the records it held before I added any + the first row of the new inserts. The missing rows are only visible if I do not refresh at all (without their server side changes) or if I reload the entire page.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Pat
    PS. If I add further rows to the DataGrid and then commit a subsequent time then it refreshes with the rows that were missing on the previous commit and the first row of the latest commit.

    My solution when adding new values at the server end is to modify the  createEmployee in the CFC to something like this. In this example I'm  using modified_date as the additional field maintained at the server  end. This could be any number of additional fields.
    Basically it's  doing an insert and then a select. Tried returning as array / Employee  but couldn't get that to work so using the query object return type of  "any". Using this method, no refresh is required on the DataGrid.
    <cffunction name="createEmployee" output="false" access="remote" returntype="any" >
         <cfargument name="item" type="Employee" required="true" />
             <cfquery name="qCreateEmplyee" datasource="fb_tutorial_db" result="result">

                         <CFQUERYPARAM cfsqltype="CF_SQL_TIMESTAMP" VALUE="#now()#">)
             </cfquery>
             <cfset var qItem="">
             <cfquery name="qItem" datasource="fb_tutorial_db">
               SELECT
               #result.GENERATED_KEY# as emp_id
               ,first_name as fname
               ,last_name as lname

  • How to Identify database sessions used by forms sso user sessions?

    Hi:
    When using forms with SSO, all database sessions are opened by the same OSUSER (usually oracle), from the same machine (usually the forms server) and by the same program (usually [email protected] [TNS V1-V3]).
    I need a way to identify the database session (v$session) that is beeing used by a specific SSO user. By using SSO, we say implicitly that all users using that SSO resource will be connect to the database by a specific database user.
    So, what can I do to identify the database session that a specific forms user is using ?
    Thanks
    Joao Oliveira

    You could try something like the following in a when new form instance trigger:
    declare
    authenticated_username varchar2(30);
    begin
    authenticated_username := get_application_property(`sso_userid');
    DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_CLIENT_INFO (
    client_info IN VARCHAR2);
    end;
    This will store the sso userid in the client_info field of v$session.
    I hope this works for you.

    Hi,
    I have Portal with Java database as the default and CRM is connected to it using SSO.The database in both the case in separate.The users that are created in Portal will have a BP status in CRM sytsem.
    Now my requirement is that if the status of the BP gets changed at the backend simultaneoulsy its Portal role should also gets changed.How shall i facilitate this procedure of changing the Portal Role?
    Is there any RFC ,BAPi or Webservices required for this?
    Regards,
    Amarys

    Hello,
    Since the status has no number it will appear under statuses W/O number bottom right in status overview window.
    These status will appear as additional text beside current user status. For example if user staus is BUG and status without number is DFL and sets when deletion flag is set and gets deleted when it is revoked than user status will appear as
    BUG DFL -
    Deletion flag set.
    BUG -
    When deletion flag revoked.
    You have to live with it. I don't think there is a way out for that.
    Thanks
