End Users Accesses

Hi,
I was wondering if the end-users need access to save the reports as workbooks and views. We definetly do not want to give them access to create new queries or change them. Can we just give them authorization to save as workbooks and views. And I am not sure if giving auth. to save as views also gives them access to query change.
Thanks
Ace

Hello!
you can restrict the access of a user to work with Views and not with Queries. I think giving the authorization to display and change authorizations only to views is posible usinf RS_comp, rs_comp1.
and regarding workbooks i am not able to understand exactly what you need. if you give authorization to work with views then users can not change the queries but can save the views in workbooks.
hope it helps

  • Enabling end - user access in Sun One Web Server 6.1 SP2

    Hi,
I am new to Sun One Web Server 6.1 SP2 and I can't figure how to enable the end user access so that the end users can change their password.
On iPlanet 6.0 SP2, in the Distributed Admin page, I could enable Distrubuted Administration as well as end user access on the webserver. The end users could then change their own password. I can't find a similar feature in Sun One Web server 6.1 SP2.
Could anyone out there tell me how to get this done?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I just found from release notes that End user administration feature (which was under Distributed Administration ) is no longer supported in Sun One Web Server 6.1. [Problem ID 4865295 in release notes]
Could anyone provide a workaround to get over this and allow the end users to change their passwords?
    Many thanks in advance,

  • END USER accessing only the Output of report

    Hi,
I'm creating reports based on queries, right now we are planning to give view access to end users, but my doubt if end user hits view on the report the query runs everytime and produces the report, what I want to achieve is that the we schedule the report before night and end user will only view the PDF output the query produces by the scheduling, How can I achieve this?

So do we need to give the user access to schedule button as well? and Do you mean run report online option?
    Any update please?

  • Denying end users access to a flash file

    Hi everyone,
I'm working on a project that I'm hoping to get some help
with, I'm very new to flash. I need a way to steam a flash video to
a users browser, without the file actualy being downloaded onto the
users computer. Basicly my company wants to sell views to some of
the courses we offer implimented in flash. We need to restrict the
user to accessing the flash file once, which I can do, but the part
that i'm not sure about is if a copy of it will always end up on
    the users computer.
Sorry if this is not an appropriate place for this question,
but I was hopeing somone might have some insight.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
did you maintain entries in SM30 BCOS_CUST
You have to have the following entry in your satellite system BCOS_CUST view.
    OSS_MSG
    W
    <Your RFC Destination to SOLMAN>
    CUST620
    1.0
then you'll be able to create a support message.
Also create BPs in SOLMAN, using DSWP -->Edit --> Create Business Partners.
Select your system and date somewhere back dated all the endusers in your satellite system will be populated select the users and create BPs.
You don't have to worry about end user authorization.
    This will solve your problem.
    Feel free to revert back.

  • End users accessing HTMLDB

    Hi,
I am new to HTML DB. I am planning to convert Access based DB to HTMLDB. I will be creating the tables, setting up the security for the end users who can only view and/or edit the existing tables.
Can I do this using HTML DB? End users can't edit the application or they shouldn't have access to any of the Developer features of HTMLDB.
Can some one guide me on how to do this.
    Thanks,
    S DBA

    Sree,
It appears you asked the same or at least a similar question back in April:
How to open an Application to Users?
Looks like Raj offered a solution then. Did you try his suggestions?

  • End user - Access denied by application security check

    Hello all,
Being a new Apex developer, I'm really hoping someone can point out the magic solution to this problem. I have just created my first Apex application and have only 3 end users who will be using it. I create their username and passwords as the admin and everything is fine, until they try to log on. That's when I get the Access denied... error. However, if I switch them from an end user to a developer, they are magically able to log in and access the application (as a developer obviously). I should mention they are internal users and have internal account credentials, so it shouldn't be this difficult.
This is particularly maddening because I have tried every combination of authorization and authentication I can think of. I am at the point where there is no authorization scheme and it still won't let them in.
Searching through the forums, I've come across threads that mention this error when an Admin tries to log on, but not an end user.
If anyone has ANY ideas, it would be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hi,
What URL have you given to the users to gain access to the application. Are they trying to access it via the developer login?
What version of APEX/oracle are you using.
APEX using embedded PL/SQL gateway should look something like this
http://hostname:port/apex/f?p=101 where 101 is the application id
    APEX using Apache
The URL should look something like this
http://hostname:port/pls/apex/f?p=101 where 101 is the application id

  • End user access - Files at the OS level

    Hi all,
I am not sure how apt would it be to post this question in this thread. And I am also not aware of the SAP functionality that I am going to detail.
With one of the interfaces, we get files dumped in the XI system. I am trying to give access to the enduser to one of the files at the OS level. He has to just view the file.
I am wondering if there is any out of the box funcationality in SAP.

could yopu explain detaillly what exactly you want here..

    Hi Mazahir,
No, it is much more than that. From the Apex home page you can go to the main documentation page, you can also find other resources such as links to tutorials, blogs, commercial websites etc. Much more than just the download, which I might add, once installed includes a complete copy of the standard documentation.
Once you have read these resources and you have specific questions that show you've at least attempted to find the answers yourself, then the people of this forum will be only too willing to help you.

  • BI Webtemplate access to End user.

    Dear All,
My BI team asked me the answer for this scenario. They have to give the webtemplate (created/executed by BI) URL to end user access. Please advise me what are all the access need for end user. What kind of the access we have to give to the end user and tell me about configuration part of the BASIS consultant.

You should always state the Apex version. And this case, because this is related to authentication, the Authentication scheme you are using.
Assuming that you are using the Apex Built-in Auth scheme, you can achieve this by using User Groups feature and the APEX_UTIL.CURRENT_USER_IN_GROUP API.
Here are the high level steps:
    a. Apex Builder > Administration > Manage Users and Groups
    b. Create 2 users UAT1 and UAT2
    c. Create 2 Groups UAT1Group and UAT2 Group
    d. Assign UAT1 user to UAT1Group and UAT2 to UAT2Group
    e. On the Home page of both the applications create a "Before Page Header" Branch that goes back to the Login Page. Make this branch conditional. This does not work, because in APEX you can go into any page after login bypassing the home page (like this http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=46417:9 where 9 is not home page)
So this branch will not run.
    f. In "A" application you want only UAT1 to access , so use PL/SQL Expression type of condition in the above created branch that has the following code
return NOT APEX_UTIL.CURRENT_USER_IN_GROUP('UAT1Group')So the user UAT1 will return False and the branch will not execute, but for others it will return True and send the user to Login page, which is access denied.
Similarly, make the branch in B application condition for UAT2Group.

  • How can end users execute rules files ?

There is a need to have Hyperion Planning end users kick off a rules file in EAS. Obviously we can not give end users access to EAS to execute a SQL based rules file. Our Admin is now executing the same rules files 20 times a day. What is the best way for the end user to execute a rules file themselves or load data to Essbase from a SQL source ?
    Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions. The first reply of using the MaxL script to call the load rule is what you would do if you were an administrator. My problem is that this solution is for end users and they would need to somehow need to use a Remote Desktop Protocol to log into a server and call a batch file that contained the MaxL script to load data.
The second reply seems a little bit more elegant in that the end users could theoretically kick off a data load by executing a BR that calls an ODI Package. This way, the users don't have to leave the Planning Application to load data.
We do use ERPi and therfore we do have ODI, but I'm new to ODI and it would take me awhile to piece together all the moving pieces to make this work. I guess the first reply is my path of least resistance so I'm going to give it a try. I'm more perplexed however, in that we can't be the only company out there that has a need for the end users to execute a load rule at their own discretion. Are there any more suggestions out there ?
    Thanks Gurus.

  • What should end-users initially do in BPC system?

Hi: I am seeking some guidance here. My client wants to provide a small set of end-users access to the BPC sandbox system. These users are absolutely new to BPC, haven't had any training but use Excel regularly for their analytical & planning needs. The idea is to have them gain some familiarity with the look-and-feel of BPC for financial reporting purposes and assess how well it could serve as the financial report writing tool. It is a tall order for folks who have no experience with BPC but that's the approach. Can you please advice on what activities these users should and can realistically carry out that will not only give them a good overview but also help provide meaningful feedback on the product? (Data will be loaded in the sandbox and formal training will be provided soon but this question relates to the period prior to training).
Full points will be awarded to all the helpful answers.
    Thank you very much,
    Jon

    Hello,
I have exactly same situation.  One of my prospective customers is going to start small project to evaltuate BPC for their planning tool, and requires small sandbox machine.
All replies above are useful information, also I think it is also important to consider your customer's requirement and expectation for better consulting service.
I would like to add 2 things about this topic.
    1: current Excel spreadsheets
If your customer uses tons of Excel sheets for planning process, it might be great to show the customer utilizing current Excel spread sheet by importing those to BPC and put some BPC functions like EvSND.  Then the cusomter would understand BPC is great application that enable to utilize existing Excel sheets easily.  I had some presales activities, and that seems to impress sereral prospective customers.
2: how to build sandbox machine
We're planning to build sandbox with virtual environment called "VMware".  The customer prepares just one stand alone note PC.  Then consultants make VMware files with VMware Workstation.  With VM, it is possible to make one set of files that includes OS, SQL Server, MS-Office, and BPC.  Everything is put into one file, and do not set up client server system.  I think you have to purchase VMware Workstation, but VMware Server might be free and has same functions.  The bad thing is that VM file is super heavy, I say 15GB in my teams' machine as average.  Also the note PC should be high-spec one.
I do not have much information to answer your question.  I hope that comment would help you.  If you have further question, please feel free to ask me.

I clicked on it and it gives me a message that I must launch Adobe, check that I agree, close and reopen. The problem is I can't find any way to launch Adobe because it appears nowhere on my launch pad, nor in my document files or on the control panel. Because of this, I cannot print bank statements nor can I get into my insurance companies billing department to make a payment. HELP!

  • Is there a way for end users to give their manager access to change their Out of Office, without an admin involved?

Our end users need to be able to give their managers access to enable their out of office.
question 1.  Can this be done without giving them full access?
question 2.  If they need full access, can the end user themselves give this access? (I've tried giving another user "owner" rights, but the user still can't seem to open my calendar from OWA to adjust my out of office)
question 3.  Can this be done without an Sys Admin being involved?

You can create a RBAC role for each manager scoped to each of their employees that lets them run the Set-MailboxAutoReplyConfiguration cmdlet on the exchange server. Otherwise they will need full access to the users mailbox which an admin would have
to grant, the end user can not grant this permission. Then they can open the other users mailbox in OWA and set the OOF

  • End User Rule View Access Denied

    Hi,
This has been discussed here, but after trying all possible options it still doesn't seem to be working.
I am using a rule in a end user task, which throws "View Access Denied to Subject on Rule" error.
I've set the rule authType to "EndUserRule" and
    <ObjectRef type='ObjectGroup' id='#ID#All' name='All'/>
    for MemberObjectGroups.
Still it would keep throwing same error. I even used:
    <RunAsUser>
    <ObjectRef type='User' id='#ID#Configurator' name='Configurator'/>
    </RunAsUser>
Still not success.....??? Any idea what could be wrong?
I am using IdM Version 5.5
    -Thanks

    Hmmm...
Seems to be working now...all I did was a restarted the application server??? Tried the same steps again in a different environment, and worked without a restart. Must be something odd with one particular environment.
    -Thanks though for the reply!

I keep getting this message when trying to open documents from the web:
    "Adobe Acrobat is blocked" -
Where to I accept the end user agreement which will enable me to access Pdf documents on the web?
The Adobe website recommends this: (did not solve the problem)
Safari 7 and 6.1 block PDFs | Acrobat, Reader
Thanks for any help solving this annoying problem!

    Safari 7.0.4
    Acrobat Pro 11.0.0

    Hello Isakten:
Thanks so much for your reply!
I already have Adobe Reader 11.0.7 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 installed.
Following your instructions, I then selected Reader as the desired Adobe product to open all PDFs. and save that choice. Still no difference, the same black screen and statement about the EULA shows up…
    http://www.nhgastro.net/patients.html
BTW, this is the website that I was accessing……note the link to download and print the pdf which triggers the EULA page.
and also downloaded the latest version of Reader via their link….but to no success…..
This all started by itself months ago, I did no newer installs or settings changes, none……
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks so much,
    Steve
