Ending a User Session on TS 2012

I am accessing an application via Terminal Server. The application ended abnormally, which was ended from the application. When I log on to the TS I am still seeing the application session.
I recently started to use TS 2012, I can't find where you go to end the TS session itself. Please help.

  • How to wash out an AM instance variable at the end of user session (logout)

    We have a need to create AM instance variables to hold some session level data, which is too complex to be held in a transient VO.
    What we observed is that the instance variable is not washed out at the end of the user session (i.e logout).
    I think since the AM instance is not really destroyed but only release back to the pool the instance variable content persists and is carried over to the next session that access the AM instance.
    What method in AM can be overridden to wash out this instance variable.
    At the moment we are resetting it in prepareSession(), but this means that the information is still held till the next session access the AM.
    It would be better to reset it when the AM is released back to the pool.
    Any pointers would be helpful.

    Note that prepareSession() is also invoked after AM activation so this can(and probaly will) reset your variable inside existing session.
    If you don't need to keep variable value between AM activations/passivations, you can use userData, for example:
    this.getSession().getUserData().put("someKey", value);
    UserData values are lost after AM passivation (by default).
    If you need to keep UserData variable value for lifetime of user session, then you can override passivateState() and activateState() as in this sample:

  • How to end user session correctly as sys or system user

    Hi,
    Database version Oracle 10.2.0.3
    We have to end user sessions to update database content. We cant stop/shutdown the instance but we have to assure that some users are not logged on.
    So we are looking for a solution to end some arbitrary user sessions as sys or system user without using the KILL USER SESSION option. We want to assure that the user sessions end correctly.
    Is there a possibility or a command in Oracle 10g to end a user session correctly ?

    I think DISCONNECT SESSION Clause is what you are looking for.
    Let us know if this is not the case.

  • Server 2012 R2 RDS – cannot log off user session

    We have a 2 server RDS RemoteApp Farm.
    One server is constantly leaving user sessions in a disconnected state without the ability to kill the session (rebooting is the only way); this is happing 1-2 times per week.
    Servers have been configured to kill a disconnected session after 10 minutes, but some disconnected sessions have been running for days.
    Below is a screenshot of the process running for two disconnected users sessions that I could not disconnect, rebooting the server was the only way of fixing this. No error's were generated when users disconnected the session.
    Is there a known fix for this?

    Did you apply session disconnected policy setting in your environment?
    There are different ways for getting user log off. As you have commented that it’s happening with specific user, once check whether the user profile is not corrupted or any other related case. Also it might relates that some application or related services
    is still running under user profile so that session cannot be logged off. You can also try PowerShell command to log off the user. Also with
    Query user command you can find the related session name and ID and then with “Logoff user command” you can logoff the specific user.

  • Managing user sessions in RDS on Server 2012 R2

    I'm planning on deploying Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services, and I'm finding I'm going to have to go to a training class!  Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do that before deploying. I've figured out how to use policy editor to configure
    what I used to accomplish in "Terminal Services Configuration". What tool do I use to manage Remote Apps, and what tool do I use to view session details? I know I can remote control user sessions from Task Manager, but that doesn't give visibility
    to view session idle time, logon time, etc.

    Is it on a Domain or Workgroup, if it is on a Domain (and you had previous experience with RDS 2008/R2) then you can simply read this guide

    If it is on a workgroup you have to do a bit more to get it right. The only problem is if you are on a workgroup you can not have RemoteApps

  • Opmnctl stopall doesn't end related Database user Sessions

    I have iAS10g installed to work with DB10g.
    A strange behavior of opmn is that application user sessions on DB are not ended with "opmnctl stopall" action even if oas processes are still stopped.

    In one case
    User is able to log in on the general page, then goes to 'select responsibility --> continue--> then gets error message that it is unable to open another window and to verify pop up blocker
    Pop-ups have been enabled and user is still unable to get past this step in the program.The pop up blocker should be Disabled in order to allow opening a new window.
    If you are using IE7/IE8 define the tabs behavior so that a link will open in new window and not in new tab.

    In another case, the applet opens ok, and when user chooses to open a workbook from the database, the workbook list is just blank. There are no security or privilege issues for that responsibility as i have checked.
    If the workbook list is empty that means he has no shared workbooks with him.
    Share a workbook with him or with the responsibility he uses.
    By the way you should check the Java version and the explorer you use so that you can verify the first issue you by using same as in another station that it works.

  • User session stops completely and restarts (GNOME 3.10)

    Since last week I have experienced suddenly closing all applications closing and sending me to the log-in screen.
    Using journalctl I can see that all applications exited with a "Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0". It all ends with the user session stopping and then being started again.

    From what I remember I have also had this issue when Skype wasn't open.
    Yesterday my computer started up beeping - I took the harddisk out and it started normally (initramfs tho). Then I put it back in and the laptop have been running fine so far. I suspect it might just have been a bad connection, but I am giving it time..

  • [Forum FAQ] Restrict number of Active Sessions in RDS 2012 and 2012 R2

    As everyone knows with the introduction of Windows Server 2012 & 2012 R2, there are various changes and no more availability for RDSH configurations or Remote Desktop Service Manager;
    now we can manage all the settings under Server Manager and group policy.
    Configuration 1: Remote Desktop Timeout settings:
    Here, we will see the Remote Desktop timeout settings. You can maintain the settings under below mention path (Figure 1 and Figure 2).
    Open the
    Server Manager, select Remote Desktop Services.
    In Remote desktop Services, in right side you can drop down to
    collections.
    Select the
    collection which you want to edit the settings.
    Under
    collections Properties, select Task and then Edit Properties.
    In Properties dialog box, select
    Session.
    You can find all the
    timeout settings under session collection properties; edit according to your requirements and then
    OK.

    Group policy setting:
    The same settings can also be applied by Group Policy.
    You can also configure timeout and reconnection settings by applying the following Group Policy settings, you can check the figure 3 for graphical view.
    Set time limit for disconnected sessions
    Set time limit for active but idle Remote Desktop Services sessions
    Set time limit for active Remote Desktop Services sessions
    End session when time limits are reached
    In addition to this another group policy available with the help of which you can bale to set time limit for logging off the RemoteApp according to our desired time. This setting
    can be applied with addition to above mentioned policy.
    Set time limit for logoff of RemoteApp Sessions
    These Group Policy settings are located in the following locations:
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
    User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
    These Group Policy settings can be configured by using either the Local Group Policy Editor or the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
    Note:
    These Group Policy settings will take precedence over the settings configured in Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration. If both the Computer Configuration and the User Configuration policy
    settings are configured, the Computer Configuration policy settings take precedence.

    Configuration 2:
    Restrict & Enable user to a single & multiple session
    Under Windows Server 2012 & 2012 R2, there is no specific setting under RDP-TCP as it is not available.
    Restrict User to Single session:
    To restrict the user to single session (Disable Multiple RDP Session) you can configure the setting under group policy (Figure 4).

    Also you can edit the policy “Limit number of connections” and set RD Maximum collection as per your company
    requirements (Maximum limit: 999999) for above mention group policy path (Figure 7).

    Apart from this, if you have not specified any policy or registry setting and still you want to restrict the new session, then in Windows Server 2012 & 2012 R2 there is option where you
    need to follow below steps (Figure 8 and Figure 9).
    Right click a Remote Desktop Session Host in specified location of Host Server and select “Do not allow new connections”.
    After clicking that it will ask you for your confirmation, click yes and no new connection will be allowed.

    RD Gateway Connection Properties:
    If you have deployed RD Gateway under your environment you can also limit the number of simultaneous connections through RD Gateway by configuring
    policy under RD Gateway Manager. For this you need to follow below mention path.
    Open RD Gateway Manager, select the server which you want to modify.
    Right click Properties.
    Under General Tab
    -Limit maximum allowed simultaneous
    connections to:Specify the number of connection you want to able to provide connection.
    -Allow the maximum
    supported simultaneous connections:This

  • How to check whether a user session is null or not

    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.2
    I have a use case of running some Junit test case, this is the problem I have :
    There are some Junit tests which are written for some VO's. While testing insert and update operation in Junit there is two mandatory columns Created by and Updated by to be entered for committing into the database.
    These values are taken from the UserName of the current UserSession .
    So for getting the these values for each user I thought of displaying a JPanel before the test is run, where the user enters the Username and password which is validated and the user is verified.
    First, I need to check whether there is a session present or not. For checking this, I wrote a createUserSession() and did like this inside it :
    if(fixture.getApplicationModule().getSession().getUserData().isEmpty())If so to show the Jpanel and get the user details and verify the user.
    But while running the test itself I found that the session is already present, now I just have to input the values based on who is the user.
    But Junit doesn't run the tests in the order in which the test are written. So I have to call this in all the test cases.
    The Question is :
    How can I check whether the session is already present or not, so that I don't have to ask the user every time while every test is running to enter the Username and Password ?

    wondering why don't you create test users and then automatically log them in as Jan Vervecken did on the threads I pointed you to. This way your test cases run without user interaction. To test if a session exists for a user, I would put a custom property into user data. If this property exists, the user session is an existing one. However, make sure the information you save into the user data survives passivation as otherwise the information you get out of this is not accurate.   • Setting default value read from user session, for an LOV in Query component

    I want to set the default value of a field in VO that participates in a named view criteria and thereby in Query component. That field is configured with an LOV by mean of a view accessor. The values are Y and N and the corresponding display strings obtained from view accessor are true and false respectively.
    I am able to set the default value by setting the value of the criteria item corresponding to that field in view criteria. I am setting the value as either Y or N and I am able to corresponding display string as per the view accessor, on the query component when it is rendered.
    I want to read the defauilt value from the ADF BC user session and set it as default value. I tried setting the values as "adf.userSession.userData.usageFlag". Iam ensuring that the attribute usageFlag is set before the view activity that has the query component is invoked. But this is ending up showing no default value in the Query component when rendered.
    Can any one let me know how to go about with this?

  • User session doesn't disconnected

    I got a problem in my production server (oracle-10.2.0.1.0) in unix (AIX - 5.3) server where I kill the user's session but it is not disconnected from the database .
    Here the output :

And for this problem , my cpu resource shows always high and performance of my database decreases .
    Help me to give me a suggestion plz ASAP ... ...

    for your kind replies . I also try to kill the process in the o/s level but the process are not still removed . I use the following query which find the running process which are related with our application server :

    That depends... many web servers/application servers make use of a database connection pool.
    They open a pool of connections to Oracle. One such pooled connection can be used and re-used many times. And for different web front-end users.
    Generally speaking, it makes very little sense to create any type of logon/logoff triggers for web sessions.
    As the application server deals with user authentication and user state and user sessions, the application server should deal with "recording" these sessions against the database.
    And this is as true of APEX as of JBoss or Weblogic. APEX is a PL/SQL Application Server running inside the Oracle database. It too does not use database triggers to "record sessions" - it does this "recording" itself in the application (PL/SQL) layer and not the SQL/database layer.
    What you describes sounds to me like a flawed approach dealing with stateless clients in a 3 tier architecture.

  • Killing a user session?

    Running Essbase 11.1.2 ASO cube...occassionally, when I attempt to kill a user session in EAS, I get the status of "terminating". I try to kill the session using Maxl commands to no avail. I know as a last resort to use task manager to end the ESSSVR.exe process -but I have been burned by this in the past as the database gets corrupted. Does anyone know of a safe method to kill these "terminating" sessions? and why are some easy to kill through EAS and others are not?

    You may find the following entries in the application log which means there were hung sessions.

    However, it is difficult to say why these errors occur exactly. Usually Errors like this occur because there are still processes running in the memory when the next transaction is called.
    A vast majority of errors can be avoided by integrating pauses and by unloading the application and then reloading it after each calculation or member/data load.
    When you kill a session from the EAS Console for a particular user, you need to wait for some time before the process gets compeltely killed, which perform a restructure or data load or data aggregation. You need to wait untill the process gets killed completely before performing any operations on the application.
    Never allow any other user to modify outline or update data whenever the Calculation is running. This can cause the application to go into a hang state and whenever you try to kill and if it fails, then you need to kill the ESSSVR process manually. For instance, follow the below guide lines when running Calc scripts:
    1) Never allow any other user to indulge any activity on the application. It is preferred to schedule the batch script as a nightly process, if it is a large operation to avoid user interruption.
    2) In case of hangups, use the UNLOCKOBJECT command (ESSCMD) to first unlock all the objects that are accessed by the script (Check the technical reference guide for the command ).
    3) Next log off the user using the LOGOUTUSER command, but here if you have multiple sessions of the same user logged in the application, all the sessions will be logged off. In this case use the EAS console and kill all the requests of the user first and then kill the session of the user.
    Suggestion:
    Try to execute the following MaxL commands as batch script and check if the execution of Calculation script is successful:
    spool on to 'D:\output\backup.log';
    login admin mypassword on localhost;
    alter application <app_name> load database <db_name>;
    alter system logout session on database <db_name>;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    alter system kill request on database <db_name>;
    Shell Sleep 30;

    Execute Calculation <app_name>.<db_name>.<calc_name>;

    alter application <app_name> enable commands;
